I know my complaint will be more vocal online and expressed across social media. Perhaps Fabiano's inevitable closure can be expedited. I asked my girlfriend, on her lunch break, to walk to your store and purchase some candy as a gift. My girlfriend brought the candy to me, which was HAPHAZARDLY thrown in a plain paper bag with the WRAPPERS. It looked like such a mess. Brown chocolate against the sides of a bag with random wrappers everywhere. (My girlfriend STATES SHE WAS NEVER asked if she wanted a bag or a box, I just confirmed with her. ) A paper bag with wrappers falling off candy thrown in a bag? You don't think we deserve the decency of a BOX??? They are individual candies, why would you throw them in a bag with complete wanton neglect? Do you have no respect for the customer? Or do you also hate your product? I told her the candy is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE in this state. I asked her why she even accepted it, and she told me "the lady was nice, so I didn't want to say anything". I told her to return tomorrow for a FULL REFUND, but she probably will just not want a confrontation with your employees and avoid bringing back this unusable candy. As for the gift, I now have to hit Meijer at 6 AM just to find a replacement. At this point anything from a major retailer is better. Manager is a joke to deal with. read more

OMG this is probably our greatest treat every year but due to last years water main break we have been without it for 2 years. You did not disappoint us this year. I have to take away 1 star for the prices; the prices are on the high end even though they don't even make the chocolate (that's what an employee told me). I have been to chocolate factories who actually make the chocolate, it's much cheaper and tastes great as well. But other than that, the chocolate was really good and of high quality. Fabiano's is a family run business and definitely a mid-Michigan staple. Their homemade chocolates and candies are always of the highest quality. When we wandered into the store, we were greeted by a lovely woman who reminded me of my grandma. She was very nice and offered her help, then let us browse the candies and chocolates adorning the shelves. I picked a Kahlua and a dark chocolate truffle, both were scrumptious, and my dad swears by their chocolate turtles. Candy aside (which is absolutely phenomenal), here's how good Fabiano's is: When my family lived in Lansing, we lived in walking distance of Fabiano's and were pretty frequent visitors. A couple years have passed since we lived there and my parents (who also don't live in Michigan) had an order sent to us. Included in that package was a handwritten note from our favorite employee saying "hi" to our kids (and remembering each by name). The candy is spectacular, and so is the customer service. My family has been coming here for decades. The chocolates are some of the best in the US and the best in Lansing. They do a great job with gift boxes and candy assortments for special occasions. Boxes are available for children occasions as well. I purchased a metal car shaped box for my 4 year old nephew. He loves dark chocolate and this is one of the only places I know that have dark chocolate for children in fun shapes: cars, bugs, stars, etc. Most chocolate flavors have a milk chocolate and a dark chocolate option. My favorite is the nougut with dark chocolate and most places do not make it. They even have sugar free chocolate if you need it, but I never tried it. It is conveniently located by the hospital if you need to pick up something nice for a friend or for family. We go here for birthday gifts. It is a family favorite! read more

If only they had some small orange people working here -- and maybe some unusual landscaping -- this place would be Willy Wonka's factory. My favorite is the brandy-filled milk chocolate cherries. I love Fabiano's candy. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and PATIENT!! Homemade quality so it costs a little more, but the crap sold at 7-11 isn't worth spit. If you want real candy, lovingly made by hand, you're gonna have to pay a little bit more. Horrible customer service. I ordered 4 boxes of candy online. Upon arrival, there was no invoice in the box. None of the boxes was labeled so I had no idea as to what was in the boxes. When I called to complain, a very nice woman answered and was very apologetic but after checking with someone else came back to the phone to say the only way to identify the candy was to open the boxes myself to see what was inside. These boxes are to be given as gifts so opening them was unacceptable to me. I asked if there was anything they would do to rectify it and she said that was all she could tell me. I asked to speak to a manager. Steve came to the phone, spoke to me very arrogantly, repeating that I should just slice tape on the boxes. I was not happy with that solution, so he said I could repack the shipping box and send them back and they would re-do the order with labeled boxes. I asked for a mailing label and he said "oh no, that's on you!" I said that I thought that was terrible service and he hung up on me. Never again. read more

I can't say enough how much I love this place. Homemade truffles, chocolate, candy canes, caramel apples, family owned - a local favorite. I usually do the pick your own truffle assortment (or a couple- the prices are incredible for a product of this quality). They get slammed around Christmas and Valentines, so allow time, especially late afternoon/evening. These are - in my opinion- the best chocolates ever tasted (that includes See's Chocolates) and they are humbly priced. If you went to Bloomfield Hills or Grand Haven or up north - the chocolate just does not compare and you pay 3X more (at least). This a good old fashioned candy store. They take pride in their product and it shows. You aren't going to find their kind of candy in a grocery store. The service is outstanding. I bought a pound of chocolates for my wife and they even wrapped it up nicely for me. The chocolate is very delectable, and you need to try the hand-made candy canes. I bought a couple and it brought back memories of a time when you could get candy canes with nice peppermint taste to them (they have other flavors as well). Nope, the prices aren't low.... but you get what you pay for.... simple as that. I should also recommend that if you are shopping for Christmas that you get there at least two weeks before the holiday. I was there last year a week before Christmas and the place was swamped. Fabiano's chocolate is fantastic! All the locals know that. But this time of year we head to Fabiano's for their AMAZING caramel and chocolate covered apples! The chocolate must be at least 1/4 inch thick coating, with yummy and creative toppings, and beautiful decorations! They make wonderful gifts, all wrapped up in cellophane and bows. Well worth the cost, given the exceptional quality and that each one is handmade. You can even pre-order your own kind of apple and special toppings! They even have sugar-free chocolate and specialty products that are the best I've ever tasted, anywhere. Period. Their staff is super friendly, and very helpful. They treat you like the family that they are! What else can I say? One of my favorite places for those special occasions. Do yourself a favor and check them out - just down the block from Sparrow Hospital, on the same side of the street. Just look for the red and white candy-striped awning.
