Independent owned bookstore right in El Dorado Town Center on Post Street. Yay!! You do not see a lot of those around anymore. The shop is bright, cheery, clean, and well organized. Cutely decorated in a modern farmhouse style. The books were grouped by topics. The selection was current and relevant. My favorite sections were non-fiction history, current fictional bestsellers, and cookbooks. They were located near the front door. The children's books are in the back by the windows. The tweens and young adult books were in the back right room. They sell also a small selection of mugs, greeting cards, games, puzzles, and women's accessories... various knickknacks without being tacky. The books and other items were not outrageously priced. The pricing was on par to other retail big box shop like the one located across the parking lot. Shop small. They can order books as well for you. Right when you walk in the front door, there is a table offering complimentary face masks, bacterial wipes, and sanitizing lotion. There is a sign requesting unvaccinated customers to wear a mask; which is a normal request for all businesses around here. The shopkeeper was wearing a mask out of courtesy. She was so pleasant to talk to and had the best attitude. She had a genuine sense of joy. The best thing about local bookstores are the events and how they connect the community together. Check out their website to view all the upcoming author book readings and signings. Their July calendar is pretty full. They will begin the Read to the Dog event again, set for August 29, but check their website for updates. Corgis Emma and Bryn will be back for the young readers/kiddos. I got to unexpectedly met them on my shopping excursion. Too darn cute! Shop small local. Community. Www.getyourfaceinabook.com

Been here a few times now and rarely walk away without a few books. Not a large store but I usually find something I didn't know about. Staff is super nice and helpful. They also do not over help which is also nice. Coming inside this local independent bookstore is always relaxing. Mostly books but there are also some trinkets, masks, jewelry, and other nice finds.

I recently revisited this quaint little book shop and had to update with my continued thanks for this local literary resource. Face in a Book lives up to its name because there is little chance you will leave here without a precious new book to stare at continually. I give props to the ownership. The store is thoughtfully laid out with a wonderful, eclectic selection. I especially like the new fiction and travel books - both of which them have a good selection of. They are nice and helpful, too. If you have any questions, be sure to pose them and lean on the employees for answers to your many book-related questions. It is a small bookstore and most of the titles are newer, or at least new editions, so expect it to cost a little more than the used bookstores you'd find downtown. I think it's well worth it and will always be a returning customer.

w/author Anna-Marie McLemore & her book "The Weight of Feathers" a journey of dark family secrets, whimsical love & MERMAIDS!

Very Sweet Bookstore In El Dorado Hills SITREP The first time I was here was just a random pop-in while waiting for a friend to join me for a meet-up at the nearby Starbucks. But today was actually a special occasion since it was an opportunity meet rising star & author Anna-Marie McLemore at her book signing for "The Weight of Feathers". THE SETUP Anna-Marie was a special guest on a recent episode of National Public Radio (NPR) where she was sharing some excerpts from her book. It really is very gripping, dramatic, and yet still infused with a sense of the whimsical (ie. Mermaids!). So Anna-Marie was given a great reception here at Face In A Book, and the bookstore went all out to make sure the physical plant & reception were executed well. Even with a large group of people, there were even more than sufficient books to sell to patrons. "SUCH A SMART IDEA!" What struck me was the creative way in which the bookstore helped to prepare Anna-Marie with the book-signing process. Maybe it's just me since I don't ACTUALLY buy a whole lot of hard cover books (this was, in fact, my FIRST purchase in about 3-4 years), but I thought it was clever for the bookstore employee to provide everyone in the line a post-it note with a writing implement for them to spell their name and a general idea of what they would like Anna-Marie to write in the book for each patron. This certainly saved time - and reduced the questions on how to spell one's name. Only, like a ditz, I forgot to write my NAME. This is how legit Anna-Marie was though, she knew how to spell my name as "Michelangelo", instead of incorrectly as "Michaelangelo" (with 2 "a"s). THE LOWDOWN I love the bookstore, and I loved the event today, so I plan to keep checking their calendar and see if I can get back this way again!

    Super cute bookstore in EDH.

We used to buy childrens books here almost weekly, their selection is decent while extremely unorganized. (Don't trip on the piles of books). Don was great, as he was always friendly and helpful, and it was clear he had a deep passion and love for books. We would bring in trade books as our kids grew up and outgrew their books, and they would discount any new purchases based on how much trade credit we had with them. The books were always priced well and reasonably, and while disorganized, it was the closest bookstore we had. it was always fun to look for treasures, and chat a bit with Don. Things went completely downhill when his wife took over the business. She got rid of the friendly cashiers and replaced them with what appears to be her friends, who know next to nothing about books, and are constantly in bad moods or throw attitude. Last week we were in line and the grey haired lady rand up a guy in front of us, saying nothing, then mockingly said something along the lines of "This is where you give me the credit card so that you pay", without saying anything else to him. No idea why she was so mad as a quiet customer who was confused by herr terrible attitude. We wanted to leave immediately, but we had two books to buy, so we had to deal with the aftermath. Then when we were checked out, she grumpily told us the price without looking at us. What on earth is happening here now. When we got home, we saw that the books were priced 1 or 2 dollars more than the new price, so even with our discount, we were practically paying new prices for books in fairly poor condition. We will be going elsewhere in the future. We just wish a decent bookstore would open in our area so we don't have to drive to Half Price. Maybe when his wife gives up, it will prompt someone else to open a shop who actually cares.

Liam and Kate were so helpful and went above and beyond at my visit yesterday. They gave me a time frame of when I would be called via the intercom. The selection of books, CDs, DVDs, video games, and other exciting things were all presented with visual aesthetics. The rest of the staff assisted me with where the restroom was at and another person helped me out with where to go by directing me to the way to get there. Liam again helped me out with my books I placed on to the push carts. Kate was there to help me out at the cash register after I found a few books I have been looking for at other book stores and online. I would like to highly suggest any book readers or book worms, any other physical media, or nostalgic items to come to this store and support a great collection of not only books, but a very professional team and staff at this particular store location. I understand stores gotta make money. Most items were close to retail. However, somethings I did like. Their graphic novels I felt were priced faire. Their dvds and blurays were priced fare. I would comeback again. While I had some minor issues on certain prices, I am glad to see more brick and mortar based stores still exist, Stop shopping on amazon and support real businesses'.

In addition to the products they make themselves on site and sell at the store, there are other services such as massage, spiritual cleansing and clearings and ancestral and energy work available. They have classes in an array of topics and they're often times free. Crossroads also features the products of other artisans and practitioners. You will find everything from jewelry, potions, soaps, crystals, raw stones, candles for divination, Tarot, Oracle, curios, sprays, powders, incense, bones, books, statuary, clothing, hats, charms, oils, etc. Crossroads also does a monthly Santa Muerte Veneration, moon and sabat rituals which are free and open to public as well as a monthly non-fiction book club. Crossroads is a beautiful store with wonderful energy and only about 20 minutes from Rancho Cordova. I visit this store from 2-3 times a month for classes, rituals and supplies. There is a vast array of divination candles for personal manifestation. You can purchase an already dressed candle or request a specific service from Katrina where she will work the magick for you. Eric and Katrina are very kind, helpful and welcoming and I highly recommend a visit to this store. There's magic, and there's wisdom. They don't always go together, but at Crossroads it's a perfect partnership, especially when manifested by Katrina and Eric Rasbold. I had a very difficult situation with someone attacking me out of their own fear and jealousy. Yes, of course I can rise above it -- but the truth of the matter is that it can hurt both my career and me personally. I brought the situation to the Rasbolds, who immediately set to work with candle magic as requested, and also suggested a Limpia (cleansing ritual) around the situation. Within 18 hours of the Limpia being completed, I was feeling much calmer, more compassionate towards the "Problem Person" -- and could feel that the hooks that had been placed in me, both spiritually and viscerally, had already been released. There are so many poseurs with metaphysics these days, that you can take your chances in finding a good one. Crossroads, and Katrina and Eric, are as fine, real and authentic as you get. My highest recommendation.
