Got there and as soon as Cody Lauterio took one look at my son, she immediately turned us away. The worst possible experience here. DON'T COME HERE if you have a child with special needs at all. This place will make an already anxious experience worse. Next time be honest, Cody. Don't make me show up with my child only to be turned away while you smugly smile and sip your iced coffee. **update** The approach didn't seem to be an issue when it was discussed before we even showed up. It was made very clear that my son has autism. It was made very clear that I would have to sit with him while the haircut took place. We were told to come to the shop. We called and spoke about the situation specifically to avoid this kind of treatment. We weren't presented with an approach of "taking the necessary time to make the child feel comfortable". We were simply told no as soon as your barber saw my son. Now, instead of taking ownership and saying that you will ensure your staff does better, you want to push blame on us? Let's also make it clear that we told your barber over the phone that if this was something she couldn't handle, we would gladly go elsewhere. She said she was perfectly comfortable with the situation. That obviously wasn't the case. Any business owner that knows how to lead, knows that your staff is a direct reflection of your leadership. How can ANYONE expect to have a different experience when the person in charge clearly has no control of his establishment. You want to turn around and blame us for Cody's vile behavior towards a child with special needs? Take accountability and stop trying to paint this as concern over something that was discussed and agreed upon. Own it. You and your team did it, stand on it. By the sound of your reply, you condone it. You certainly excuse it. Spoke to a different barbershop less than a mile from yours and they were flabbergasted by your staffs behavior. They assured that it was perfectly fine and normal for a 3yr old to be held by a parent while a haircut took place. My son was able to have a great experience at that shop. I'm sure you'll reply with some other excuse to ensure you defend Cody and your business. That's fine. This review and the others from people who are upset that their nephew was treated this way, isn't for you. It isn't to create confusion. It's for other families in similar situations. It's so that others with kids that have special needs don't go to your shop only to feel discriminated. Next time just tell people you won't do it. Be honest. Seems to be difficult for you but it goes a long way. It definitely would've avoided all of this.
