When we got up to the front counter where we usually pay we waited for a while then finally asked a guy if we could just pay for this he rudely told us the line starts behind the 40 people waiting for their smoked products and meats and delis and salads we tried to explain to it we only had three items here that were prepackaged and just ring us up again rudely told us the line starts back there. I wanted to leave the items on the counter but my wife decided to put them all back. This to me is the same of buying a quart of milk at the supermarket and having them tell you you have to go back and take a number at the deli counter to pay for it, pretty stupid. My wife had the Veggie Lover's Delight ($12) - with roasted red and yellow peppers, red onion, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber, served on sourdough bread with a goat cheese and pesto spread. Their refrigerator cases had the makings for a simple picnic to an extravagant spread -- and everything in between. It's called the Village Butcher because it also is a butcher shop in addition to selling sandwiches. There is no inside seating, but there is plenty of outdoor tables. This is the kind of place you wouldn't discover on your own, but it makes for a great lunch spot.
