Stopped by this new butcher shop today and got a favorable first impression. It's in a strip mall at the north end of town, which means it's convenient to Saratogians as well. There is a meat case mostly filled with Certified Angus beef, a tray cooler with various stews and appetizers (I tried and like the creton, a potted pork item), and a freezer with more exotic stuff like squab and ostrich fillets. They made me a nice sub with quality meats and bread accompanied by some excellent cole slaw. Also there is a small but well chosen selection of "regular" grocery items, mostly condiments and a few fresh veggies. The pricing is pretty attractive, certainly not high-end. i was tempted to just buy veggies for dinner here rather than going to PC, but there were a couple of things I didn't see so went to PC and the same items were cheaper at Sanders. They are supposed to have Oscar's Smokehouse items but didn't get a delivery last week. Also they're said to have some local grass fed beef though i did not notice any on my quick visit. Will definitely be back for a closer look. read more

WOW. This place is AMAZING! For years, I have been operating under the assumption that buying from a butcher shop would be more expensive than the regular supermarket, so I didn't think I could afford it. But every time I go to the regular grocery stores I become frustrated with their pricing and selection... if you want chicken that looks nice and isn't covered with fat/ligaments/veins, you're looking at paying $7.69 a pound at these big chain grocers. I simply can't afford that, so I buy the cheap stuff and it looks awful and tastes even worse. I got tired of feeling like a terrible cook and decided to give this place a shot. OH. MY. GOSH. Everything looked so beautiful. Perfect cuts of everything you could think of. I held my breath as I picked up the most gorgeous chicken breasts I'd ever seen in my life, expecting some ridiculous price... it WAS ridiculous. RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP! I practically ran them up to the counter, I was so excited. Now I feel robbed because I could have been buying from this place for years but I had no idea the prices were soooo good. The staff is friendly, the place is clean and has a nice selection. I'm sending everyone I know here and won't stop singing their praise! Sander's Meat Market sells prime beef, all the time. Prime burger even and it's always fresh! Prices are comparable to supermarkets the difference is prime (Sanders) vs choice or select at supermarkets! read more

Made a quick stop here today, and it was a good first impression. Very clean, well-organized, and tons of variety. I came out with some quail and a package of some luscious-looking English-style beef short ribs. I can't wait to go back! There was a case of fresh breads and some homemade pastries and pies, fresh veggies, and what looked to be several bottles of marinade. I'll be going back for a more in-depth look once the rugrat isn't in tow, at which time I'm certain I'll be upgrading this review to 5 stars. It's such an excellent value for the fantastic quality. EDIT: I've been back here several times and absolutely love it still. The prices are the same as what you'd pay at PC or Hannafords, but the quality and service are so much better. Not even comparable. Their ready-made meals are really really tasty. The beverage cooler has my favorite soda (Boylan's... squee!!). Don't see what you want? Ask. I stopped in here a few weeks ago to check them out and had a great experience. I was in search of something to grill up for the night and was almost overwhelmed by their selection. They had a very well stocked full service case with some beautiful cuts of meat as well as a number of self serve cases with specialty meats like grass fed beef and products from oscars smokehouse in Warrensburgh. I ended up picking up some great center cut pork chops. My housemates and I all agreed they were some of the best we've ever had. I've been back since and the selection was just as good. Picked up some lamb patties and ground chuck. Both made some fantastically juicy burgers. The prices there are more than reasonable and the service is excellent. The location is well placed to serve both Ballston Spa and Saratoga. Good parking right in front of the store. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a great cut of meat at an affordable price. read more

Easily the best subs around, bar none. The proportions are generous and the ingredients are always fresh. When I feel the weight of the sub in my hand, all neatly wrapped, my first thought is "now that's a sub". My favorite is the Italian mixed, and it never disappoints; and I get more than one meal out of it, there's so much for the money--a mere $8 for a foot long sub. The owner and staff are always customer friendly and professional. The store carries a wide variety of unique savory food products as well. Definitely worth your time and money to stop in for a visit. read more

I dont normally write a review for deli meat but wowsers Sanders roasted turkey, which they slice to order, has got to be the most amazing deli meat I have ever tasted! I made a sandwich and all I could think about was Thanksgiving! This turkey is moist and flavorful. So good!! The entire store knocked my socks off, staff was super friendly and amazing, tons of choices of meat at great prices and even dog bones fresh from the butcher, which my dog says are almost as amazing as the roasted deli turkey! I had a party for 100 people so I called around to find out the best meat deals. I called local stores for meat pricing but had to order 2 week in advance to get optimum prices. It was a consensus, from my Saratoga neighborhood, that Saunders Meat market was the place to go. I called and Tim answered. He had great prices, for short notice, helped me figure out the amount of meat for a party for +100 people. I told him I wanted to marinade 60 lbs of chicken. He told me he would lend me some bins to make my task easier. Had it all bagged so I could pour the marinade into the bags and seal them; which worked great. The meat was bagged and ready to go. Everyone loved the food. Tim went the extra mile for me. I will bet that he will do the same for you. Tim is the best! read more

Great butcher shop. Tim Sanders and his staff are amazing. They have the freshest, best cuts of meat, and their prices are fair considering that you are getting such a superior product. When I am working at Global Foundries, I always buy my meat at Sanders Meat Market. They also have local eggs, milk, products from Oscar's Smokehouse. Local bread, produce. Service is fantastic! The way the present the meats is well done, it allows for easy identification of cuts you would like to purchase. The pride in packaging your choices is very professional as well. They have a good stock of Oscars Ham products which is a bonus. You can tell they really know what their doing and I will definitely endorse this place as the one stop for picking up meats. It would be great if they could also sell fresh seafood since we don't have many good places locally to get fish. read more

They are open until 6:00 pm but every time I go in anytime after 5:00 pm they are closing up shop and putting things away. They almost seem annoyed that customers are there. The meat is very good but this procedure of closing shop an hour before they really close is a turn off for sure. If they are open till 6 then they should be 100 percent open until 6. read more

They advertise their specials on Facebook each week, and the staff is very helpful. They sell in bulk as well for even better price. Stopped in today after reading some reviews. What a nice shop with a real friendly young lady on the deli counter. Tried the turket breadt and roast beef and they were excellent. Grabbed 4 beautiful short ribs that the butcher cut up fresh for us along with a nice stuffed chicken breast for supper tonight. Could not resist a couple of cream puffs either. There are times it is busy, just need to be patient and wait your turn. The meat value deals are terrific. Fresh fruit and vegetables when in season, that is a PLUS ! I've been in several times and the service has always been pretty good. The last two times I have been here, the service has been terrible! Experience #1 was... I arrived to buy some poultry and they did not have what my husband specifically requested so I pulled out my cell phone to ask what he would like instead. One of the clerks shooed me out the door as they have a no cell phone policy. I had a one year child on my hip and it was very cold out, so I was a little put out. When telling others of my experience, they agreed that it was pretty rude but I let it go and tried them again today. Experience #2... I stopped in today to buy some sausages! Yum! When I arrived at the counter I whipped out my card and was told, "Sorry, we don't take cards for less than $10." Okay, here is my dilema. We don't really need anything else and again with a one year old on my hip, running to the ATM is not an easy feat. I gruffly said, "well it's always something here" and turned to leave after she refused to be helpful. Upon walking out the door, she yelled at me "SUIT YOURSELF!" and I mean I was out the door so she was definitely yelling. I went back and asked if she was the owner because if she wasn't, I would assume that the owner would want to know if their employees were in the habit of yelling at customers on the way out the door. Well, wouldn't you know it, she was the owner. This just opened up an opportunity for her to yell some more. She told that I "came in expecting her to do all this stuff for me". The bottom line is that I actually hadn't asked her to do anything for me, considering she wouldn't sell the sausages. Well friends... that is the last time I will support this small business! The customer service is the pits and frankly their list of rules is getting a little long! I just want to buy some meat and not be yelled at while doing so. read more

What can I say a family owned and operated butcher shop. Very warm greeting and are always genuinely thank full for the business. Me being a kitchen trained chef love the variety of cuts, the quality in which they are cut as well as the price. This is a one stop local shop for all your steak grilling/cook out needs. I enjoying going later in their day about an hour prior to close and always find the best deals. Last time I was in I bought some gorgeous porterhouse steaks with the thickest and full size filets on them I've seen in quite some time. Their prices are surprisingly competitive with the local supermarkets ie. Hannaford and PriceChopper. However you dont get the one on one personal attention at the chains that you receive here. Located in the carousel village strip mall (across from pizza hut and ocean state) the store is small but certainly filled yet not over packed. During the season you can find fresh real local produce and baked goods (unlike the "faux" local produce from syracuse and such that you find in the chains) from saratoga county and the immediate surrounding areas. For the novice of the group they offer a wide selection of marinated items such as steaks chicken wings and pork cuts, from what i understand is prepared from their own recipes. They offer homemade salads sold by the pound and other dinner items you simply have to warm up (their Sheppard's pie is my personal favorite for a quick hearty meal). They also have a limited variety of deli meats. They store is always clean and never has that smell often associated a butcher shop. In summary it's a great locally owned family run business that offers a great selection meats at competitive prices and honestly if you have to pay a lil more than you would for somethings its always good to know the money you spend there stays there... Oh yea they have a no cell phone rule the intend on giving you their full attention and expect the same from you (great rule in my opinion). read more
