Great ham and smoked turkey. The bacon is not my favorite. Very salty. They had a really good 3 year cheddar. It didn't last the party.

I've given myself a week to calm down but still need to write the review. My wife and I went the Oscars a week ago, (we've been going there for 30 years) picked up a few prepackaged items and walked past the throng of tourist trying to decide what meat cuts they wanted. When we got up to the front counter where we usually pay we waited for a while then finally asked a guy if we could just pay for this he rudely told us the line starts behind the 40 people waiting for their smoked products and meats and delis and salads we tried to explain to it we only had three items here that were prepackaged and just ring us up again rudely told us the line starts back there. I wanted to leave the items on the counter but my wife decided to put them all back. This to me is the same of buying a quart of milk at the supermarket and having them tell you you have to go back and take a number at the deli counter to pay for it, pretty stupid. Chaotic. Sign to wait to be called, others passing right by me. Breakfast sausage (prepackaged from someplace else, blue and white wrapper) has no " best by" date, red flag I should have noted and didn't. Two packages went straight to garbage, smelled like death. Even their meat and cheese delivery service was excellent! Had loved this place since i was a kid. The fire saved the pig in front of their shop location, though the faces behind the counter were motivated and soon after, Oscars reopened for business bringing delight to food lovers galore. Try their maple syrup and counter cheese! Smoked pheasant is something i have only ever tried from here and it still brings me tasty memories. Between a chicken and a duck i would say. If you like smoked meat, this is the place to go. In business in the same location since 1946. They have their processes down pat. We got a little lost finding Oscar's and ended up in the back parking lot. This was a lot for employees, and it was very full. Walk in and they have self-service coolers, or you can order from any of the numerous employees. We got applewood-smoked bacon and a bologna ring (my bad, I thought it was a kielbasa) We cooked both over an open fire at a campsite. The bacon was mouthwatering. The grilled bologna slices were also excellent. Very safe and customer-first store. read more

I first heard about Oscar's more than seven years ago, as one of my jerky-loving friends called theirs the best jerky he'd ever had. I thought, "Hmm...I should eat that jerky someday." Seriously, that's word for word what I thought at the time. Fast forward to the present day, and I end up near Warrensburg at least twice every summer, and I've got to tell you...I don't know if that friend can be trusted. He did some very questionable things while we lived together in college, and more relevant: his jerky taste is a little suspect. Yes, Oscar's jerky is good (a little too salty IMO), but it is not the star of the show at Oscar's Adirondack Smoke House. In fact, despite the EXCELLENT summer sausage, smoked pork chops, smoked bacon, and aged cheddar...none of these items are the stars of the show either. In my personal opinion, there are two co-stars of the Oscar's Smoke House show: 1. The freaking MEAT VENDING MACHINE. You heard that right. Instead of like, an old Snickers bar, you can get a fantastic package of smoked bacon from a vending machine. This is a win any way you slice it. 2. The More Than Mustard. This is a weird one, but I'm of the personal opinion that this mustard that is made specially for Oscar's is the finest mustard in all the land. It is always in my fridge (with a couple backups in my freezer) because it's just that good. It's got the bite of dijon, the sweetness of honey, and it's all around perfect for just about any application. It will improve sandwiches, it will elevate vinaigrettes, it will transform any ham into a delicacy, and it will absolutely make any sausage or charcuterie pop. If you can't make it to the Adirondacks, they do take online orders. It's not the best portal, but it works. Get this mustard (and a bunch of meat to go with it), and thank me later. read more

If you are within a 20 minute drive of Oscar's - you should get over here. I come here at least once a year. Besides all the amazing meats, their 7 year aged cheddar 'counter cheese' is absolutely to die for. This funky aged cheddar is rich, sharp and riddled with amazing tasty cheese crystals. It is fantastic and at $13.99 a pound, 100% worth picking yourself up at least a half a pound. Good luck getting it all home. I can't help but break into it as soon as I cash out and get into my car. (pictured) Another thing I really can't leave without is the Pickled Kielbasa. If it doesn't sound good to you, trust me, you will love it, as long as you enjoy a vinegar pickled flavor. Smoked meat is the name of the game here. I always try to get at least one item to take home for a future dinner, however it can get pricey. If I lived closer I would definitely come by often to pick up something special for dinner on occasion. For now, I'll just pick up some of my favorites when I'm lucky enough to be near by. Oscar's is a must stop for anyone who enjoys smoked meats. This was my first time here and I was thoroughly impressed. Oscar's offers a variety of pre-packaged meats, including Bratwursts and Bacon. The grab and go refrigerator was amazing and helpful to browse their vast selection of inventory. Their COVID protocols are very good and it's easy to know where to stand and how to order from the counter. Their protocols were transparent and clear - although we're not locals, we felt safe. It's also good to know that Oscar's ships, so now we can have some of our favorite items sent to us! We grilled up cheddar brats last night and they were awesome. I recommend grabbing some of their mustard (house made). We're not mustard people normally, but this jar has a unique flavor with hints of sweetness and mild spice. Highly recommended! UPDATE: going to the full five sparklers on the basis of the smoked pork chops I brought home. Smokey, tender, pork-y, as good as it gets. Keep a few of these bad boys in the freezer (if you are not heavy meat eaters, one thick chop can serve two) and you are set for whatever hand you get dealt. Previous: Why my review is not a full five stars is that the prices are a bit high and the slick new place doesn't smell smoky like the old place that burned down a few years back. (Maybe that's why it smelled smoky?) If you order a sandwich they will ask you to choose a roll (ciabatta or french), meat and cheese, no vegetables available. I was more than happy with my black forest ham and swiss with "more mustard" that is spicier than hell. Pro tip: if you are not repulsed by innards, try the old fashioned head cheese... it's smoked! Also, speaking of pricing, the same meats are available in non-smoked versions at pretty fair prices. P.S. Since Oscar's is possibly the only reason you're passing through Warrensburg, take a sec to inspect the elaborately carved sign on the way into town from the Northway. Having heard about this place for years, the wife and I were finally in the area and stopped by on the way home from a daytrip up north. Our house was out of power so I planned to purchase sandwiches to eat for dinner as well as some meats to stash for later. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to see a sign that due to the pandemic they didn't do sandwiches anymore. Though some items were empty, likely due to it being late in the day, I still found three or four different types of bacon and smoked meats to purchase. We took our time and looked at all of the types of cheese, meats, and gourmet jams and sauces they had. Finally, we went to the deli to order stuff for our dinner and were told they had closed it 10 minutes ago. DOH! So, we purchased sausages from the case and some meat sticks. I guess timing is everything. I liked what they had, but a couple of things I really wanted (specialty types of bacon, smoked deli cheese like swiss and provolone) were out of stock or otherwise unavailable. That was very sad. When I got home I discovered I had purchased the wrong variety of bacon because they had put it in the wrong spot. That sucked. So much has already been said about Oscar's that I doubt I can add anything new. Anywhom, I bought house smoked of the following: maple bacon, sausage, and pepperoni. Also bought bacon horseradish cheese spread. Everything was reasonably priced. I believe the bacon is 7.99 a pound! All smoked meats that you grab from the self-serve refrigerators come vacuum sealed so you can freeze them long term! All four of my items totaled 21 and change after tax. Score! My wife and I each loved the bacon horseradish cheese spread. Super spreadable with bits of bacon mixed right in. Horseradish flavor is there, but definitely doesn't overpower; just the right amount. I'll be buying that again fo sho. You'll be tempted to overload your Ritz crackers or whatever and that's up to you, but if you do, you better buy a couple containers minimum, lol. Can't wait to try out the maple smoked bacon. I've had the pepperoni before and loved it so I already know that's a winner. The smoked sausage I'm saving for a home baked pizza I'll do up down the road. I already know it's going to rock like Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley in 1979. What can you say kimosabe? Plethora of house smoked items including pheasant, fish, duck, and on and on. Fresh deli counter and some home baked cookies/pies available as well. Meat lover's paradise is what I said to the dude that cashed me out. He just laughed as though he's heard that several times before... Tons of on site parking and they're open 7 days a week. By the beginning of May, my Smoke House supply had dwindled to nil, so I went on line to restock. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, they did not offer shipping in the month of May. Love this place! We always stop when in the area! Always Lines on Saturdays...and the bathrooms are also frequently visited. My only issue is that they really need to clean the bathrooms more often due to the high volume of use- I'll spare the details. But every time I visit they seem to have expanded their products- Oscars spices now, bakery items, ice cream etc. I love their bacon and Irish bangers, rashers/back bacon. This place was excellent. I'm writing this review from buying a bunch of smoked sausages and various cuts of meats a few months ago. We froze a bunch and have been eating our way through it. Not sure how I haven't reviewed Oscar's before? When I have meat lovers visit me, this is part of their entertainment package. This past weekend was no exception. My dear friend's husband middle name is bacon. Or is it meat? Well, one of his favorite sayings is, as he points to my salad, "that's not food...that's what food eats". So, Oscars was on the list this past weekend since they live down on Long Island and needed to stock up. He was in his glory and now has an Oscars t-shirt stating, "keep calm and eat bacon". I made an executive decision to purchase enough stuff from Oscars on Saturday to feed my guests and a couple of neighbor friends if they happened to be available. We purchased 2 racks of already cooked ribs and 4 steaks. The nearby farm stand provided zucchini and corn. Even though I'm not a big meat-eater, the quality of everything was outstanding. Everyone raved and we had a fantastic meal. Oscar's also has great selections of cheese, crackers, chips, condiments and even some desserts. We purchased a gigantic pie that we never had the chance to rip in to...so we sent it home with our guests last night. I have been stopping here every year on our way home from Lake George to stock up on some of the most delicious smoked meats imaginable. Oscar's Smoke House has been cranking out amazing in house smoked meats for over 65 years and has never disappointed me in my 28 years on this earth! This year I decided I wanted to grab myself some of their delicious bacon and beef jerky oh and some smoked turkey snack pack for my brother. I picked out the double smoke and the maple bacon. The beef jerky I picked up the original and the teriyaki the teriyaki definitely being my favorite. The jerky is nice and thin and the flavor is intense. They have a deli counter where you can pick from a fresh cut steak, brauts, smoked deli meat and even smoked fish and cheeses. They also have an area that is self service and is pre packaged. The number of different cheese spreads they sell is quite remarkable. Though some may feel the prices are a little high the quality is there. Some have also stated that after being featured on the Rachel Ray Show their prices have sky rocketed. I only come here once a year so to me its worth it but I can see on a regular basis this can put a little dent in your wallet. Over all my absolute bacon I have ever had! read more

Oscar's Adirondack Smoke House sits high in the Adirondack Mountains, north of Saratoga Springs. They have five actual brick smoke houses hard at work creating Oscar's signature savory flavor, and you'll be able to smell the smoky goodness as you climb the hill towards Oscar's. The well-known TV chef, Rachel Ray got her start working at her family's restaurant in the NY Capitol region, and later moved on to cook at a famous Inn in the Adirondacks. She regularly purchases products from Oscar's, and you'll still hear her mention this smoke house on her TV series. You can easily get the meat sweats - out of anticipation - just by walking into Oscar's. Don't worry, it's well air-conditioned. I'm told I'm 2 degrees of separation from Rachel Ray (I have a friend who used to work with her at her family's restaurant). But I first heard of Oscar's from friends and family in the Saratoga area who were willing to make the 45-60 minute drive each way to shop at Oscar's. One is a relative who used to make her own sausage at her store in Wilton, so she would know. It was only more recently that I saw repeats of Rachel's show on the Food Network where she touted Oscar's and how so many of his products are lower in fat content than grocery store equivalents. I was also interested in their beef bacon, advertised on their website. I was originally satisfied to get all my items from the refrigerated self-serve section on the left, where I picked up an armload of sausages, bacons, and cheeses. I almost made it past the deli area on the right without adding to my armload from the sausages, cold cuts, and hams behind the glass. But then - evil people that they are - I saw a sign listing recently added products. That included a hickory-smoked duck sausage with Applejack brandy. Whooooaaaaa!!! (meat sweats activated!) A couple of things of note: - If kosher meat, or nitrite-free meat is important to you, read the ingredients. Some products may contain some pork added. - It's not a wise decision to visit the store at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon in the summer. That's when I checked in. At 4:35, it seems like everybody camping in the Adirondacks for the weekend stopped in with their coolers to stock up for their barbecues. read more

I won a gift card to here so the family and I stopped in. We heard all the hoop-la about this place and everyone was defiantly correct! They had such a variety of all kinds of jerkey, sausages, smoked fish, cold salads along with shelf items like dressings and seasonings. You can also get most items you see in the glass case, frozen to go. For the star I docked: We all went in there as a group and picked out a bunch of things and had some sandwiches made. We had two people helping us because there was 6 of us and apparently we didn't follow "deli etiquette" and have just one person help us so the employees were genuinely confused about the whole situation which was weird. The girl that was helping us was very rude, she had snappy answers and just an unnecessary attitude. We have not had anything here that wasn't phenomenal. Personally I like the smoked pork loin better than the smoked ham. Their mustard might be the greatest condiment in the world. Breakfast smoked sausage have too much snap in the casing for me - a little hard to bite/cut. Smoked pork chops are a must. The horse radish cheddar spread has great spice. They have a large selection of fresh meat too, but for me it's all about the smoked meats. They serve sandwiches, but have limited supply of fresh baked rolls so get there early. Black Forest ham and smoked Swiss is to die for. No frills, no lettuce, tomato, etc just homemade meat and cheese. You can get any of their deli meats and cheese on the sandwiches. They have a large selection of regional condiments and sauces, some baked goods, and chips. But stick with the meat and cheese. We live 4+ hours away but try our hardest to get there once a year even if it means going out of the way while going somewhere else. You can also order most smoked products online. read more
