What a hidden gem here in Rocky Hill! We took 2 toddlers here for their Christmas festivities at their farm market and quickly realized this will be a tradition for us to years to come! Our toddlers met Santa and Mrs. Clause, enjoyed delicious hot chocolate and fresh donuts, rode in their barrel train (WITH SANTA), and enjoyed strolling through their indoor market. All staff was SO friendly and nice. Truly felt like I could stay here all day. Toddlers and adults had a fantastic time and are looking forward to coming next winter season. I never heard of fair weather acres until their weekend christmas event. I went with my family and the kids had a great experience meeting santa and going on the barrel tractor pull. The hot cocoa and donuts were a wonderful touch that made the adults have a great experience too. Their store has some great items so I will definitely be back for some soups and pies. Lots of ornamental varieties of plants that I have not seen before. Review for the fall fest: we have been going every year since my oldest was 2 (she's now 11, but I also have younger kids) We used to really love this event, however after our visit today we will never go back. The price of $30/person is OUTRAGEOUS for what is offered. This is doubled from 2-3 years ago. There is no reason for adults to pay this price when we aren't going on half/all of the stuff. The food trucks prices are insane. We didn't even eat there because paying $15 for a sandwich is unrealistic. There used to be an amazing selection of big and small pumpkins and now they are all small. The only 2 new things that have been added over the last few years is the mining station (which is an EXTRA cost) and some train thing was added this year but broken/not running yet. I won't shop at their shop anymore because you can get better stuff for much better prices at other local flower shops, and now I won't be returning to this event either. There were no lines at all today which was a huge change from last year so I am wondering if a lot of people are feeling the same way. Review for the fall festival only. We have been to their fall festival two years in a row and it's great! Lots to do- they have a pumpkin patch, corn maze, tire playground, potato sac slides, barrel train rides, hay rides, jump pad, corn playground, pedal cars etc. They also have food - burgers, hot dogs, fries etc and also another stand with hot cocoa, Apple cider donuts etc. My son easily spends hours here and never wants to leave. We have gone earlier in the season both times and didn't have to deal with long lines for food or activities like some others have mentioned. ** Farm Market / Kitchen Review** Let me start off by saying that this is not my first time at Fair Weather, and usually the experience has been good at the Farm Market and Kitchen. However, today I placed an order (after being hung up on 7 times in a row because they claim to have trouble with their phone lines) for 2 Sandwiches. After paying $15 (vermonster) for one and $18 (BLT sub for turkey) for the other, I am extremely disappointed. Not only was I shocked that they charged me an extra 3.25 for the turkey but was not told via phone that there was an upcharge to sub their chicken BLT for turkey. I will admit that when I first opened the containers there was a slight smell from both sandwiches that contained turkey (I'm sure most of you have experienced it with deli meats). I took a bite and all I could taste was the EXTREMLY BURNT bacon. I called the Farm Market and let them know right away and they said they would have the Manager Stephanie give me a call. I took 2 bites of the sandwich and decided to go back. Upon explanation, they offered to make new sandwiches which I refused and instead received a refund, but not before asking me if I planned on returning the small bag of chips that came with it. I left and about 15 min later I received a call from the manager. First, she was apologetic and said that we are all human and make mistakes and that only a few pieces of the bacon was in fact burnt upon her review. OK fine, but then as I am explaining to her the disappointment, she proceeds to tell me that in the future I should let them know when placing an order that I would not like BURNT bacon. The pictures speak for itself... ALL of the bacon in both were the same, burnt! As a manager in the service industry, I can understand that food may not always be perfect, but you don't want to blame the customer when in fact, your kitchen is the one who provided the bad product. Stephanie took it very personal and was even argumentative about the situation when I was only trying to convey that maybe they should have better judgment next time they are prepping the food. **Farm Market Review** During the warmer weather months you can stop here for lunch. The cases are filled with salads, stuffed breads, fresh salsa. They also have a daily special board with made to order sandwiches, tacos or stacks. They have a really go turkey sandwich with Mike's Hot Honey & cheddar. All specials come with a side which could be a choice of an apple, chips or chickpea salad just to name a few. The chickpea salad is really good. During the fall they have an Autumn harvest salad in the case that has apples sometimes cranberries nuts roasted squash so good. This review is for the fall festival only. The place is HUGE! And for newbies like myself, it is not located at the grocer store itself, but about 1 miles away. It's easy to find with all the signs. The staff was all very friendly. This place is highly trafficked and in a field, so don't be afraid to get a little mud on your shoes. Great fall photos opportunities and plenty of pumpkins! Animals were lacking, it was only a few animals. I didn't experience the food as the lines were really long. My 2 year old could really only do a couple of the rides. The hayride and then sitting on my lap on the bikes. There is an adorable barrel train that would be fun for the littles too. Otherwise the rides here are generally more targeted to the 4-9 age range. We had a fun experience overall, one star down for not being open on the weekdays. read more

We've lived down the road from here for almost 3 years and I've always meant to stop in but never made it and now I'm so upset I haven't gone here all these last few years. They also have goats here that were absolutely adorable and I'm not sure if I want to come back more for flowers or a goat fix (or both). Fair Weather Acres is this place that for the last 2 YEARS we have driven by during the fall season on i91 and been like "Huh, that interesting" and then that morphed into "Huh, that looks pretty cool" to finally going the 3rd year of "driving by". I'm glad that we finally did. I'll admit. I wasn't crazy about going because I saw how crazy busy it always was but that was never a issue. The parking lot has plenty of space. When you go to pay for your tickets, we found a coupon but even without it the prices were fair for these type of things. Once you pay you wait in a line to get onto a large barrier wall trailer with hay for a hayride. They bring you around the whole park and you get to see essentially where everything is to do. The hayride ultimately drops you off at the entrance to the corn maze and the tube slides. The ribbed tube slides were super cool. They give you a potato sack and sit on it to slide down the tube. They have different tubes for your child's level of comfort (like baby, beginner, intermediate and advanced). The difference is angle of the hill the tube is at and how fast you go. The corn maze is the best one I've been in yet. When you purchase tickets they give you cards to fill out in the maze. Basically there are 2 cards when I went. 1 for kids to find the "monsters" on these signs and use the hole punch their to clip them and then there were check points separate from those for adults to hole punch when they find them. Getting all of these took over an hour. Something to help keep you kids busy and it's really fun. You can get lost though. I did without the map and it took me like 10 minutes to get out the right exit I wanted to get out to find rest of family . They also had these cool tractor looking bicycles that kids and adults could ride that went pretty fast. I totally wish I owned two of these (no judging lol) so my daughter and I could race around parks. Probably the coolest park of the experience is their playscape near the food vendors that has a floor completely made of corn kernels. YES. CORN KERNELS. I have never seen corn kernels used like this. I dug my feet to the bottom. Literally like 2 feet of kernels across the whole playscape. Also the playscape has a roof on it so its protected from rain. When kids go down the slide they kernels are cool thing to land in. My wife and I sat in the kernels while our daughter played. It felt like that cold sand feeling when you cover yourself in it. You get corn dust on you and tons of kernel in your pockets but WAY WORTH IT. After this, our daughter picked out a pumpkin which is part of the admission (if you choose). They had alot of pumpkins to choose from so it took a while to find the one she wanted. We have been going to the fall festival at Fair Weather Acres ever since the year it opened. We've watched it evolve and grow, some aspects of the growth have been positive, some negative. I was happy to see this year that they expanded the parking lot, that is huge. But even still, if the parking lot fills up, they will close it off to new people. It's sort of annoying that it is unpredictable and may just be closed when you get there, but then could randomly reopen later in the day. The lines have also gotten unbearable, because of the influx of people. This year, we had to park very far away, wait in line for tickets for over 30 minutes, wait in line to get on the tractor for 30 minutes, it was all a big waste of time. I think a lot of these issues could be solved if they would offer online, timed entry tickets. Then there would be less of a wait, and no frustration from showing up and not getting in. Even the lines for the food vendors are long and take forever, and often they are out of food when you get to the front of the line. I've also been disappointed that every year, the pumpkins are smaller and smaller, but the price either stays the same or increases. As my stepson gets older, it's less of a fun destination and more about zipping through the corn maze and getting a pumpkin and some cider. At $16 each for admission and a pumpkin, it may be worth it for us to start going somewhere else. This is definitely your spot if you have small kids, because there are a number of activities that will keep them busy all day. But for me, I miss when it was smaller and less busy. read more

A friend and I came to FWA for sole purpose for purchasing fresh, CT grown produce. Not only did we get everything we needed, but there were also some interesting things like purple carrots. Their fall corn maze and activities are so much fun! We spent a half day there last year and only got thru half the activities, so we wanted to go back again because it was so much fun! My 7 year old loves the corn maze, slide, huge stacked tires to climb on, climbing on the haystack maze, and the infamous corn pit with a playground inside. There are also small animals for viewing, kiddie bikes & train rides, and of course a field of pumpkins for pumpkin picking. There is also a tractor hay ride. We signed up for our first CSA over the winter and anxiously awaited our first pickup, which was yesterday. We received such a large abundance of fresh veggies and fruit that our refrigerator is essentially overflowing, which is an excellent problem to have! The pickup was seamless and everyone was SO friendly and willing to help out us newbies. I love the fact that they put out a newsletter each week letting you know what you are getting in your box and also with recipes to use some of the more obscure ingredients. The store itself is very affordable and we picked up some other items in addition to our CSA. Their salsa is absolutely to die for and I can't wait to crack open the fresh guacamole tonight! This place is a must visit around Halloween time. It's a little pricey but really well worth it. I bring my kids every year and there is always something new. Cash or credit to enter. You can pay admission with or without picking a pumpkin. Optional hayride brings you around the property. There's always a corn kernel pit to jump in or bury yourself. Absolute favorite. There's oversized tires to climb on, peddle cars to drive. For big kids, adults and then there's a smaller one for smaller kids. A petting zoo, corn maze and plenty of food and drink and picnic tables. This year there was a huge inflatable jumping pillow they called it. It was like a trampoline. Huge! Staff is always friendly and cooperative. Large pumpkin picking patch on the way out. Parking is always easy and there's plenty of it. 5 stars all around! This place was awesome and I am so happy to have heard about it from a friend. We came on a Friday afternoon and got a hayride for 3 people (2 adults and an infant), corn maze and other fun festivities, and pumpkins - all for only $19!! I've seen large pumpkins for sale at nurseries for $17 alone so I felt we really got an awesome deal. They had great pumpkins to choose from (I'm not sure how long they will hold up because they did have a notice posted to inform customers that they didn't have the best growing season and couldn't guarantee the life of the pumpkins). My friend mentioned adults were half price that day so maybe that it why we got such a great deal (because the baby is free). But I was thoroughly impressed by the selection of pumpkins, reasonable wait time for the hay ride, the corn maze and other fun activities they had there (giant slides, tires, a corn pit, etc.). We also had warm apple cider and donuts that we purchased there that were delicious. It was a 5-star experience all around and I would highly recommend it to others. This is great family fun, and at pretty darn reasonable rate for most anyone. An enormous corn maze, filled with objects and clues to find, turning the experience into more of a game than a mindless wandering spree. $13 for admission, or $16 if you want to grab a pumpkin at the end of your journey. Whether you're 9 or 99, it's a good G-rated experience. Also, I had the single best cider donut I've ever had. No exaggeration, it was AMAZING. It was so good, we got a dozen to take home and eat later. Only thing to complain about really isn't anyone's fault, and that's the highway noise. This place is directly adjacent to I-91, so this is not a middle-of-nowhere escape into solace and peace. You get used to it. We'll be back for sure. read more

Fall fun for the whole family! Absolutely worth a fall weekend for any family with kids! You have probably seen the big signs with all of the pumpkins right off I-91. These guys must have done a major expansion this past year. What was formerly a little shack selling some produce and plants is now a fully-fledged autumn destination. There are 2 areas. First, the area right on Shunpike has all of your produce and plant needs, as well as mulch delivery and other landscaping needs in the back. And the best part...they have homemade ice cream. I had the "Lobster Tracks" - not sure why it's called that (no lobster...darn) - but it was very good. The second area is right on the Cromwell/Rocky Hill line. Follow the line of pumpkins to the pumpkin area, and you'll find fall central...hayrides, pumpkin towers, corn maize, pumpkin painting, haybale statues, scarecrows...the whole deal. Pumpkins everywhere - you can probably see this place from space! Does not look like much from the main road, but the place is huge, and the staff is really friendly...kinda rural...but friendly. Couple of comments - the prices are a bit high - 8 bucks a pop for a hayride/corn maze. It was 30 bucks for my family without a pumpkin. 12 bucks if you also want to do pumpkin picking. Also, I found the food at the pumpkin area was a bit lackluster - a little bit of popcorn, honey and bad coffee. Pizzeria Da Vinci has a booth that is decent. We always go to Lyman Orchards around this time, but that place is a zoo and a pain to get to. In contrast, Fairweather Acres is convenient and does not have the insane crowds yet, so I highly recommend. Stop on by before October is over! read more

I want to clear something up for folks who don't live locally. There is the Fair Weather Acres farm stand (which is great). Lots of fruits, vegetables and locally made things like honey, jams, yogurt (which is to die for!), etc. Then there is the Corn Maze/Fall Fest (which is awesome!) down the road. Same owners but 2 different places. The reviews here seem to be for both. The prices at first seemed a little high to me (for the Fall Fest) but when you think about all of the work and TLC that goes into it, it's pretty reasonable. And you get to take a pumpkin home with you, any size. By the pound at Lyman Orchards, for example, you'd probably pay the same price, or close to it for just a large pumpkin. Tons of fun things to do for kids under 12. Love it. And Friday's are half price. read more

Sure, the food and drinks are priced a little higher here, but what do to expect, you are in the middle of a field. A lot of work goes into this, which any normal person can clearly see. I have nothing but nice things to say about this place. For most months out of the year, they offer fresh produce and lots of different local products, like milk, eggs, yogurt and honey, just to name a few. In my opinion, their summer and fall CSA is an incredible deal. For a very reasonable price, you can pick up fresh vegetables and even sometimes fruit and herbs every week or every other week (depending on the type of share that you purchase). Of course the selection differs depending on the time of the season, but that's part of the fun of the whole experience! But they do offer a "swap cart" for items that you just can't stand (I'm looking at you, celeriac). The employees are really helpful and friendly and the store is always clean and well organized. There's also an ice cream stand, which I've never visited but I've heard people rave about. The price is a bit high ($16 for ages 3+ and $19 for adults) but once you are in, everything is included (except food/drink). We counted 8 different activities in addition to the corn maze to keep the kids entertained. The food booths had a good selection and were reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful day, weather-wise and the place was full but not so full that you felt you spent most of your time waiting in line to do stuff. I would recommend that you choose your pumpkins on your way out unless you want to carry them with you all day. We will definitely add Fair Weather Acres to our Fall-Must-Do List. read more
