If you are really hungry get the hungry man-eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, spuds and pancakes or waffle. Mitchell's is also a local business that supports the community they make a soup for Cornerstone's Soupfest and donate to charity events. Mitchel's seems very much to be an old, reliable standby, one of those places that you know you can get a good meal, at a fair price, when you're not in the mood for anything fancy or complicated. That's the impression I get each time I visit; and, it was no different this time around. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable; and, the staff is friendly and attentive. On my most recent visit, I chose the "new special", consisting of two eggs cooked to your preference, (I chose over easy), two strips of crisp bacon, two breakfast sausage links, your choice of french toast or pancakes (I chose french toast) and mildly seasoned potatoes. At $14.00 and change, that's a lot of food at a decent price, for my dollar; and, "decent" just about sums up the whole meal. It's all good; but, nothing really stands out. What you get is a good solid meal, but not much more. And that's not a bad thing. A clarification is in order, however. Upon seating myself, I was quickly offered coffee, placing my order at that point. I had my meal, served hot, in less than ten minutes, which I did find impressive. read more

Popped into the Rocky Hill Mitchell's for the first time in a while for a Monday afternoon lunch. It was still pretty busy for a Monday, but was able to be seated right away! This used to be my spot in high school, as it's right down the road from RHHS. Ordered my favorite turkey club and it was better than ever. Loved the fries too! Staff is always always friendly and they never let your cup of coffee run low. Service and food were speedy as well. Went there with a friend who is handicapped on a rainy day. we went through the side door because it was easier. Right upon entering we got yelled at by a waitress that we needed to go through the front door. She could see he was on crutches. we immediately turned around and went somewhere else that was more welcoming. Will never go back. My boyfriend and I come here all the time and love it. It's close to his work & with the fast and friendly service, it's frequently in our lunch rotation. Mitchell's is a very typical diner inside from a rotating specials board and that you seat yourself. It can get very busy, especially on the weekends, but the turnaround is relatively quick. The food is so good, with a wide array of specials, combos, and variety. This time I got the chocolate chip pancake, which was delicious and he got the eggs Florentine. Sausage was like the frozen links from the freezer (best part of the meal). Corned beef hash was inedible. Like dog food. Could not eat more than a bite. Bread was like styrofoam. Potatoes seemed like canned sliced potatoes drenched in oil, cold and glutinous. Food was awful. Service lousy. This is my new favorite breakfast place. The prices are so affordable & the amount of food is beyond satisfying. Best of all, their grits are delish! I arrived an hour or so before closing & the customer service felt homie & inviting. I didn't get the rushed or annoyed impression since I came so close to closing. In fact, a man & his kids arrived 10mins, if not less, before closing & they let them dine. This has such a family atmosphere, it's nostalgic. After reading so many positive reviews we were excited to try it out. Went in with huge expectations and left in great disappointment. The food is not bad but it could be better. The eggs benedict sauce was good but everything else was a-ok. Home fries were bland and under done. Shame because they look so good on other posts. Nothing that would make me want to return and try something else. But what really annoyed me, and what earned it a 1 star review, wasn't even the service which I will comment after. It was being served beverages in little styrofoam cups. Come on, really? Why? The food and service were awesome! Our waitress was very attentive, and our food came out quickly and accurately. However, I noticed the owner, Roy, treating his employees with disrespect. The atmosphere quickly became tense after he openly scolded a waitress for not answering the phone despite her taking care of a customer in the restaurant. He embarrassed her in front of her coworkers and customers like me. She forgot our coffee order (one ice one hot), had to then ask for cream next time around. Outside dining now available during the covid era. They have about 10 picnic style tables outside and there is a podium area to wait to be seated. My waitress was over right away for our drink orders and the food came out fast. The menu is now paper and it has alot of options still . I decided to try the hot open faced turkey dinner for lunch and it was really delicious packed with turkey and mashed potatoes loaded up with a savory gravy . Definitely needs salt n pepper. Thanksgiving Catering Review Only I have to say i have never eaten here before, this was my only experience. We were coming into town to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. We are staying in an Air BNB and we're getting in late weds so we didn't want to cook. After some research we decided on Mitchell's for catering pick up. My mom called and spoke with someone and discussed the order and food quality. We were assured the turkey was a fresh carved breast and not a processed turkey. Pick up went fine and we were given plenty of food and even 2 liters of soda, rolls and butter and a HUGE salad with dressings. Disappointment: -The Turkey was absolutely disgusting, inedible and was thrown out. The turkey was grayish pink and the consistency of lunch meat before being cut. -The stuffing was dry and had huge chunks of carrots in it and tasted like nothing. -Mashed potatoes were good and authentic tasting with added butter. -Mashed squash was a strange choice and not great but fine, i was glad i brought a sweet potato casserole from home. -Gravy was okay, i doctored it a bit but there was plenty. I was glad i purchased a cold rotisserie turkey breast from a grocery store in a panic bc if not we would have not had turkey. We threw it away. It was revolting. I was glad i brought some extra side dishes from another chain restaurant back home (panic purchased by grateful I did). I would not spend $200 on this ever again and I wish I had a thanksgiving specific review to have read to know ahead of time. Learn from my mistakes. read more

But there really isn't much to say about this place, the food is alright as it's exactly what you'd expect from a place like this but one thing that stood out for me this visit and was able to give me some sort of content for this review was their Chocolate Chip Pancakes. I don't know! They were just cooked so PERFECTLY. I was not expecting that at all. Well that was the only item that stood out but I will definitely be back for them! Perfect SLIGHT crust, chocolate chips were oozing, and not overcooked or undercooked. Very nice! For the rest of my meal this visit I had bacon, eggs, toast, and corned beef hash. All were decent and predictable but the corned beef hash was slightly under average. It was dry and taste was slightly off and forgettable. Well, no regrets as I was full and so was my wallet. All that food plus coffee and an Eggs Benedict meal which I was told was cooked perfectly all for $27 with 10% bringing even lower. Every dollar counts! On a budget and too lazy to cook? Come to Mitchell's and if you can snag a coupon, then bring it. It'll be like nothing even happened. My husband and I came and ate breakfast here on Saturday. We had taken our baby to the groomers and while we waited decided to give this breakfast place a try. It was relatively close and had good reviews. I had the strip steak and eggs and my husband had a breakfast sandwich of sausage, eggs, cheese and bacon on a bagel. The steak was made to my liking and seasoned well. No complaints by either of us, the food was plenty and the service was great. My husband and I stopped in to Mitchells one morning for breakfast. The staff was very welcoming and provided great service. Our breakfasts were cooked to perfection. I like my scrambled eggs very dry, and that is exactly how they come out. My husband's over easy eggs also came out perfect. And I drink iced coffee only, and not very many breakfast places offer it, but I was so happy that Mitchells did. And their prices are excellent. We will definitely be back. read more
