We use wheelchair accessible vehicle service from VA to DC. Service was prompt, courteous and driver was extremely helpful.

HORRIBLE service! Friend had called and booked a wheel chaired ride for last night to get back to her hotel. Waited for cab and nothing. Friend called and was told that there were not any handicapped cabs available even though she had booked one earlier! Whoever was on the phone wouldn't help with customer service, etc...Luckily another friend had a mini-van that she was able to get her back to her hotel. Shame on you Fairfax Yellow Cab! I will never use you and will tell my clients not to either! read more

Do NOT use! They will not only pull a bait and switch, they will add in extra fees for no reason. My son booked a taxi online thru their website for a 8.6 mile trip, all inside of Fairfax County. They sent a cab from Prince William County, and charged those rates in violation Fairfax laws. I have called several times and got the false fees waived, (waiting fee- but my son was outside when the cab arrived, a meter fee and an extras fee) but they will not honor the Fairfax County rates that they have posted on their site. The company phones are answered by some call center in Minnesota, (but in reality it seems to be an overseas call center). Scammers! read more

We made reservations a week in advance for a wheelchair accessible van to take us to DC to celebrate our 50 wedding anniversary. i called twice during the week including Saturday afternoon, two hours before our pickup.our reservation was confirmed each time. at 5:45pm, our scheduled pick up, the taxi did not show up. After waiting 15 minutes, I called the company and was told that they did not have a driver. If we wanted to wait another 45 minutes, they might find someone. the Taxi agent was totally dismissive of my questions about the reservation. I cancelled the taxi. this was a total disaster for us after careful planning and follow up with Fairfax Taxi. what a disgrace to leave us stranded especially with such a dismissive attitude. I wouldn't even give them one star based on my experience. I ordered a cab online the night before. I had an early flight to Dulles Airport. Cab was confirmed the night before. The cab was supposed to arrive at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning. When it didn't show up at 6:30 I called and they said -- oh about 10 minutes. I then called after 10 minutes and again was was told the driver was on the way. Three calls each time being told the driver was 10 minutes then 9 then 6 then 3. The driver never showed up. I ended up waking up my husband to drive me super fast to make my plane. No apology, no acknowledgement of how badly they screwed up. If you want reliable transport to your flight - do not choose this company. read more

Called a week in advance to schedule a wheel chaired ride for a friend to come to my sister's 60th birthday party. Ride was to pick up our friend and her sister at 1:30pm. Called again after text for prepay was sent to me just 3 hours before pick up. Assured everything would be fine. Cab driver calls me at 1:31pm to say cannot pick my friends up until 2:00pm - party 2pm to 4pm. Call yellow cab office who now states earliest arrival would be 2:30pm. Called office again and was told no cab available. That yellow cab does not assign drivers until pick up time?!?! Not sure if this is how all passengers are treated or reserved only for the disabled. Needless to say shared why our two guests were unable to attend with my 30 other guests. Will share on Facebook as well. Not the best business strategy when competing with Uber and lyft!! read more

They contracted out to Arlington Red Top Cab for a wheelchair cab for us. We made a reservation early in the week, and they are 40 minutes late, leaving my mother-in-law stranded and not able to get home in the cold. No one will help me on the phone. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't take reservations if you can't honor them. read more

Why do I spend my time scheduling my ride 4 days in ADVANCE just to have a driver call me 6 minutes after the time he was supposed to ARRIVE, just to tell me he was going to be 30 minutes LATE! Then I try calling Yellow Cab back & the automated service says my driver is 45 minutes away. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I thought I could trust you more than an Uber, but this shows that you are not. don't use this company! I booked a time for my grandmother to be picked up, she called to let them know that she was done early and for some reason they cancelled her cab. When I called back to get a new cab, they said it would be 50 minutes. When I called again because they didn't show up, they said they didn't have any cabs available. Never again. Wouldn't you think a taxi company could get a taxi to your house at the time you requested -- especially if you make a reservation 12 hours in advance? Here's the story. I called Yellow Cab on Saturday and asked them to have a cab at my house at 3:45 AM Sunday to take me plus two other passengers to National Airport. That's a good fare at a time when there isn't a lot of business. "Yessir," said the guy on the phone who got my name and coordinates. At 3:45 there was no taxi so I called and got a bureaucratic answer telling me the cab should be on its way. At 4:00 there's till no cab so I got my wife to take us to DCA. Here's the kicker. As we passed the East Falls Church Metro Station, three Yellow Cabs were lined up with the drivers chatting among themselves. Not their fault, it was the dispatcher who was asleep at the wheel. I suspect he mixed up AM and PM. Time to take my business elsewhere. read more

All it takes is one horrendous experience to lose a formerly faithful customer. After making a reservation the day before for an early morning pick up, and after the dispatcher said "no problem," the taxi was a no show! It put me back in a bad way quickly as I had an international flight to catch. At no time did Yellow Cab call to tell me the taxi would not honor his reservation. I had to call two times to find out the company just casually shirked their commitment to me. I had to scramble to find a new ride and hope I didn't miss my flight! I called Tuesday evening, requested a cab for 8:15 am the next morning (April 2). Dispatcher read back my information correctly: time, pick-up and drop-off destinations. When 8:15 came with no cab, I called. I was told no cab had been assigned, and there was no estimate for when one would be. I explained that we had a bus to catch in Rosslyn, it was the last bus of the day, and that it was ridiculous for a call placed the night before to not have been handled. After several more calls, a cab arrived about 8:45 -- and the driver said he'd only received the call at 8:25. He did a good job driving and we caught our bus (but only because I allow a LOT of extra time). So -- as others have pointed out -- there's no point in making advance reservations with these people, because they're ignored. We needed a way between the West Falls Church Metro and our hotel in Tysons Corner because the Tysons Corner Silver Line had yet to open. It was initially scheduled for Fall 2013, but that seems to have been delayed by 2 years. Our hotel called us a taxi for a ride to the Metro station after we were done with breakfast. As I spoke with the person arranging my ride that I was disabled and needed help with groceries. She said yes he will help you. I gave him a $5-$8 dollar tip thinking he was going to insure my things at least made it into my building. Guess where, he left them sitting on the steps. The older lady that cleans the building had to assist me to get them in the building and even up to my door. I was duped, but never again. We are all struggling, if you are not going to do your job right, do not do it at all. So disappointed. I have had rides before, and I ask the drivers if it is okay for them to help me and they all tried their best, and I try my best to tip them well, even sometimes depending on my things, if they need more of a tip. I have never reviewed the other drivers, any of them, but today they all get "5" stars! read more

I was driving down 123 in Fairfax yesterday at 3:20 pm and witnessed the most aggressive driving by cab #189. Cutting people off and tailgating like it was his job. If anyone knows 123- there are traffic lights every half mile. Ain't nobody getting anywhere fast. I get it. You have to get people to where they need to go, but that the expense of what? Other people's safety? I will never use this company just from the experience yesterday. Don't drive like that when you have your name a number plastered all over the side of your vehicle. Terrible service. It should be against the law to have such a system existing. Red Top cab # 249 .Biniam is his name attitude was repulsive. I has a county voucher he didn't want to take it. I asked him to call,his supervisor he said he didn't know the phone number. I asked him his name and he told me to go find it This type of service is unacceptable. When you get a person on the phone they send you to a voicemail supposedly for a supervisor and the mailbox is full or not set up. I've been trying to reach a supervisor from Red Top for 2 days . No one likes to tell you their name or title. I was on the phone with a person named Max for 7 minutes and he told me he was a manager as we were hanging up. That should have been stated first. Everyone that answers the phone has no professional phone ettiquite. It's allowed because no one monitors calls and follow up on complaints. Would love to speak with a superior. read more

I asked them to check again and they found my reservation. I asked them when a cab could be dispatched since I had to catch a flight. I called and requested a cab this morning for a pickup at 7:30 because I had to do a presentation at work (needless to say, I needed to be there on time). I was told I could not reserve a pick up time, but that a cab typically takes 10 to 20 minutes to arrive. So I say that is fine, but I won't be ready until 7:30. The cab arrives at 7:18. I am not ready but rushing to now get to my (early) cab. I see a missed call on my cell, and call it back immediately. When I call back it is an automated system with prompts. I push the appropriate prompts, rush outside with my phone pressed to my ear talking to the dispatcher, only to see no cab (it left already) and to find out that I was considered a "no show". Outside of my own home. After I specified that I wouldn't be ready until 7:30. Go figure. The dispatcher asked if I want another cab sent (which would be another 20 min) I told them NO that it was too late, and I needed to leave right now and would find another way. Luckily, my husband was still home so I asked if he could drop me off at the closest train station. He said yes, but that of course made him late for his job (which I felt terrible about). About 20 minutes later, I get several calls from Yellow Cab saying a new cab is outside. I reiterate that I already told them it is too late and that I found another mode of transportation. So not only are they unprofessional, they don't listen. With all the competition that now exists (Uber, Lyft, etc.) one would think that a cab company would provide excellent customer service to stay competitive. It is situations like this that will cause cab companies to become obsolete. I will never call Fairfax Yellow Cab ever again. read more

I have not used a cab in Virginia or DC in 14 months. I only use uber. Clients at my job asked for me to call a cab for them. I give Yellow Cab the address and instructions to wait by the front entrance. They gave me a wait time of 10-20 minutes, if not earlier. My clients wait inside the front door so they don't have to stand out in the rain. 20 minutes later, I get a phone call from the Yellow Cab number. It's just silence except for the word "Goodbye" (which is really creepy). There's no cab outside. I call the company to tell them about the weird call and they say that the cab is waiting outside. There is no cab. I'm told to wait a few minutes. Still no cab. I call again and am told that the cab did not see the passengers and left. Again, none of us saw a cab. I have Yellow Cab resend the driver, giving them EXACT details of where to go, in case there was some miscommunication earlier. My clients go outside to wait. Soon after I received another creepy "Goodbye" phone call. I can't see the road from my desk, I contact the company again to make sure that my clients were picked up. They tell me that the cab is waiting outside. I go outside to check and there is a cab waiting... at the wrong entrance at the wrong building. And my clients are nowhere to be found. Either multiple cabs were dispatched and my clients picked one, or they gave up and found their own transportation. I feel that this whole experience reflected badly on me and the business. Next time my clients ask me to call a cab for them, I'll just request an uber for them at no cost to them. It's worth spending my own money to have the peace of mind. read more

I'm not sure what everyone's issues are with these guys. I called them from Tyson's Galleria to go to Dulles on a Tuesday afternoon around rush hour. Myself and one other passenger. I was told 20 minutes, and it took about 15. Not bad at rush hour in DC. The driver helped with our bags, drove there safely and efficiently, and took a credit card without issue. And gave me a receipt. Ok, the guys wasn't super friendly and chatty, but that was fine by me anyway. No issues on this drive. read more

Reviews for cab companies seem to go up and down, and their reviews for service dependent on the service provided by the driver. There's a lot of variables that a cab company cannot completely control, and I understand that. I've had ups and downs with Fairfax Yellow Cab, but overall the downs have been minimal and their full integration with the Taxi Magic app eliminates many of the pet peeves of using taxi services. The Taxi Magic app is great, but not without flaws. For some reason, it pinpoints me at the building next door when I am sitting in my office trying to get a cab. Only once have I had an issue where I have had to call dispatch to get a new cab, and the driver that picked me up explained that the cab that was supposed to get me took a second fare on the way to pick me up, which he wasn't supposed to do and screwed everything up. My office is in a little-known, hard to find cut of office buildings in Reston. To make things harder, the address has recently changed due to the Silver Line construction. So when I use the app for a cab, I have to walk over to the next office for pick-up, and if I get a message that the cab is outside, but isn't there, I call dispatch. On the up side, everyone from dispatch that I talk to is very nice, although sometimes I have to be transferred twice and restate my issue twice before it is resolved. A lot of times the driver will be in the wrong lot, or looking around trying to find the right place, and I'll flag them down. When I get in the cab everything has been generally smooth. All of the cars feature the Taxi Magic system in the back, which allows for simple, instant credit card processing. Ever been cursed by a cabbie for wanting to use a credit card, even though the cab window says they accept them? Or have the cabbie insist that you go to the ATM and get cash for him? That's not an issue here ... just swipe, add a tip, and you get a receipt with a "thank you". Fairfax Yellow Cab and Taxi Magic has been mostly reliable and great for getting me to watering holes in the Reston/Herndon area from my office. read more

This review is for the lady answering the phones between 5pm and 11:30pm on Saturday. She is very rude and hateful. Our driver to our destination was great, but the lady arranging the service is awful. I've never been spoken to so rudely in my life. Use uber, it's much easier and they are nice. To top things off, the cab I requested through the same lady (that yelled at me again!) never showed up. Horrible customer service. Somehow, at 11:30 AM on the day I called for a 12:15 PM, a cab arrived at 11:50. I wasn't ready and so they cancelled it and rescheduled for 12:15 PM but, SURPRISE! Another cab showed up at 11:55. Then a third cab driver called to say that he was on his way! WOW! I was on the phone for 20 minutes and stressing out. Who needs this!! Finally, when I took the second cab who waited, I was told that drivers have daily issues like this. Last year I had a problem with Fairfax Yellow Cab and spoke to a manager but, obviously, things seem to be getting worse. I need to think about some other way to travel. The taxi services seem to be changing rapidly, at least for us occasional users. The annual trip went off smoothly. They have an expanded phone tree which was easy to use. I requested a trip 3 hours ahead in midday. I got an estimate which was accurate. The driver appeared a few minutes early and put up with a bit of luggage shuffle. He got us to union station from Centreville very quickly. They often give you their card for the return. I should stop losing them. The taxi line at the train station is all but gone. read more

It's a shame that dependable cabs are so hard to find in NOVA. My family lives on a street in Fairfax County that unfortunately has a very similar name to another street close by. It's confusing, I get that. But it's also 2013 and there is no excuse for not having access to accurate maps, especially after I tell the dispatcher very clearly about the confusing street names in detail. I got the phone call that the cab was "outside" but there was no cab outside. I call the dispatch again, they're no help. By this point a neighbor mentions that he saw a cab 10 minutes ago driving slowly down a street a few down from ours. Third call to the dispatch, again no help. Took over an hour, I called three times and they hung up on me. I couldn't have been more patient and after they hung up and didn't pick up the phone for the next two calls infuriated me. The driver called me 1 hour and 15 minutes because he wasn't even notified by them that I cancelled the ride. What a poorly operated company - no wonder taxi companies are going under!! read more

I've used this company three times, each by booking ahead of time using Taxi Magic. The first time, last year, they were ten minutes late. The second time, in April, they were twenty minutes late. Today, they're a whopping FORTY MINUTES LATE. I really don't understand why they can't arrange for a pre-booked ride when I see their cars sitting around the metro station all the time. Same exact route (hotel to conference center,) different days and cabbies, cost difference of $14. Hmm. Also, if I say I do not need help with my bags, do not force it out of my hands. it's fair to say this service is quite applicable. no issues, good cabbies. but, every so often there's a real problem and it always has to be 'that one cabbie'. apparently cab 240 is one of them, i was warned about their belligerence and treatment and boy, this is the 3rd time they've given me and a handicapped companion the improper and unprofessional treatment. the cabby yelled at us for 'slamming the cab doors' got into some religious rant about it. then, he left us standing because he had to wait for me to wheelchair out a patient at the cancer center in VA. and just today, again, left us standing, drove off after i told him i was going to bring out a patient. he just took right off w/o reservation. i don't like to complain about things and i don't appreciate having to do such. cab 240's driver i have some bitter advice for you, don't like the job? move onto something more rewarding, if that's even possible for you. i did contact customer service, whatever that may mean these days. yellow cab is certainly not what it was when it comes to communications and a service number, what is up with that horror? read more

To be fair, I took two rides with FYC yesterday (BOTH during rush hour traffic) and the one in the morning was fairly uneventful, even though it took him twice as long to get there than what the dispatcher told me. He was professional and courteous. The one in the afternoon was horrendous! I received a call stating the the cab was waiting outside, you know one of those automated messages. I get downstairs and the cab is nowhere to be seen. I call dispatch. They tell me that the message was to state that he was on his way. Okay. 15 minutes later the guy shows up after I've been standing in the summer heat for longer than necessary. What should have been a straight shot down 50 turned into a roundabout way involving an freeway and two other highways, and because of that we ended up approaching my destination from the wrong direction and had to pull a U-turn to get back to it. Frustrating as anything! Still, not the end of the world, right? At some point during the drive, I noticed that the meter had climbed to above the amount I had paid the guy from that morning (including tip) and I asked the driver what was going on and why we were taking such a longer route. He told me that it was because traffic was bad on 50.... okay. He then took it a step further when he slammed the meter to OFF. That was when I decided to not engage him any further. He was clearly having a temper tantrum, or at least on the brink of it. He asked me to go ahead and swipe my credit card, which I did, but of course it didn't work because he had turned the meter off. Awesome. Then he reset the meter and had me do it again, and it still didn't work. Now his is really pissed and we finally get the dang thing to go through..... all this while he is driving and NOT pulled over or anything. Anyway, we finally get there and he has a little coniption fit about how much I should pay him sort of wavering between what I think he should be paid and what the meter would have said, etc. Finally, I told thim that he simply shouldn't have turned the meter off if he wants to be angry with the customer because he screwed himself over. I would have paid what the meter said if he hadn't shut it off. I still paid him exactly what I paid the morning guy and was relieved to climb out from the back of the cab. read more

Tried booking online. Got the confirmation email as scheduled. Had booked for a 7AM pickup to Dulles. The cab was 5 minutes late, so I called to confirm. Not a big deal as I had plenty of time. The cab was clean and driver courteous. Radio was not loud. All in all, the ride was comfortable. A tip though, if you pay by card, there is a $3 surcharge which they don't tell you in advance about. A ride from Matera St, falls church to Dulles cost me $50 including the card fee. read more
