My car was in the shop a couple of weeks ago, and I had to get from Fairfax to work in Old Town. Uber cancelled on me after having me wait for a half-hour. Uber has cancelled on me many times--absolutely worthless. Red Top was there in about half an hour and got me to work on time. They also let me schedule a return ride while I was on the phone with them. The return ride showed up on time. No complaints. read more

When the taxi arrived, the passenger front seat was filled with trash bags. There was no space for my son since we were three so the cab disappeared to throw away the trash, ( Where he dumped them I have no idea.). As my daughter-in-law tried to close the door, a piece of plastic trim fell off and the driver began to berate her of using too much force! I was not her fault that the car was in bad shape! (The air conditioner didn't work either.) Then he proceeded to drive to Braddock Rd via 66 which put us way past our destination. We had to back track block after block. When we arrived at our destination he understood he would get no tip. He charge us $32! Our trip home by Uber cost us $12. read more

We made a wheelchair taxi reservation two days before my wedding for my mother-in-law, who is handicapped and uses a power wheelchair to get around. Two hours after the designated (and reserved) pickup time, they told her that no one would be coming because "they couldn't find any drivers". My mother-in-law was stranded at the wedding venue, and we had to risk her safety and the safety of several wedding guests by lifting her manually into my car and her 400+ pound power chair into a friend's truck so she could get home. My wife, in her full wedding dress, had to assist in wheeling her into her apartment once we got her home. Fairfax Red Top Cab was content to leave an elderly handicapped woman humiliated and stranded on the day of her daughter's wedding, after a reservation had been made two days ahead of time. There is no excuse, and no reasonable explanation offered. The supervisor on shift could have cared less. Do not use this service, especially for wheelchair cab services. They may leave you stranded, no matter what you do. read more

Called 12:18PM on November 20, 2021 to get a cab at 4:15 AM. The person on dispatch was pleasant and scheduled my ride. I called back at 12:30PM to confirm and to give them a cell number since they had not asked for one. At 4:05 AM November 21, I get an automated call from "Yellow Cab" that they are working on my ride. At 4:15 I called the Red Top cab I initially called 703-333-3333 and was told they were still working on my ride and it would be another 25 minutes. What?! I told them that was not what I asked for and cancelled them because fortunately and Uber was 15 minutes away. read more

I reserved a Redtop taxi on Tuesday evening for a Wednesday morning pickup. When no can showed, I tried to reach the company to determine the status. Could only reach a computer generated voice that acknowledged my reservation and that she was looking for a driver. When no cab appeared after 20 minutes I had to drive myself to Dulles and will need to pay parking charges for a 12-day trip. I will never use this company again. read more

Unfortunately I can't put a zero stats, but do not trust this service when you really need it. I arranged a taxi ride 12 hours before I needed it. It took me two calls because of the incompetence of the operators and the terrible phone system. They didn't even have the courtesy of telling me 5 minutes after my ride was overdue that they had not found a ride yet. The epitome of incompetence. When I called, they still had no idea and wanted to tell me about all the taxis that were not available. When I finally cancelled the ride, the answer was okay ... not even an expression of sorrow that they may have inconvenienced me. Listen. Don't waste your time with yellow cab or red top in Falls Church. Ive been using them for three weeks while working here and I'm fed up. I don't want to use Uber because the government doesn't like to reimburse Uber but this company is so frustrating I can't stand them. They have three apps but only two of them work and none well. If you have a problem they will argue with you and blame you. If you are on a schedule you can't trust them. Five minutes out could mean 3 minutes or 20 minutes. Some will cheat you and charge for waiting while others charge the dollar for a second passenger when you are alone. Is there a rating for less then zero stars? 3 days before my flight I ordered a cab for a 4:30 am pickup to catch a flight out of IAD. The night before, I called just to confirm and was assured that we were all set. 4:30 came and went and I started calling. After 20 minutes of multiple calls, wait times and being passed around to multiple dispatchers I finally gave up. Every time I called, the driver was "almost there" or "5 minutes out". In the end we drove to the airport, paid for valet parking, and only because American Airlines had great customer service barely made our flight. Instead of paying for a ride, Fairfax Red Top Cab very nearly cost us thousands in disrupted travel plans. read more

We've been using Fairfax Red Top Cab for my mother law who is older and not comfortable driving. It's so easy: we call in when we want her to be picked up as soon as we k ow her doctors appointments. The drivers are courteous, always early by at least 5-10 minutes. If they are early they do not charge for their time waiting on my MIL to exit her condo. We haven't used the app so I don't know if there are any issues. We've always called and have been happy with the service. We will definitely continue to use them! read more

What a lousy experience!! I had a 6:30am flight to catch, so reserved the night before for a 4:30am pickup -- with all the confirmation texts received, etc. 4:30 came; no cab. 4:40; no cab. So I call. Recording says "locating a driver; estimated wait time 13 minutes. I'm concerned. I call again 5 minutes later. "Locating driver. Estimated wait time: 18 minutes [!!]." It's not like I live in a remote area -- there are 6 hotels within 1.5 miles of my house. I call again, get to a rep, who says "Sorry." I cancel the taxi and drive myself the 4 miles to the airport. Frankly, That's not what I expect from a cab company -- broken reservations, no calls, misleading and unfounded recorded arrival estimates, and simply, "Sorry" from an ill-informed, ill-equipped dispatcher. Sorry, indeed! Time for me to get a ride-share app and stop relying on this ill-equipped cab company. read more

We called for a cab at 9:50PM. I have been a regular customer and we waited at the usual pickup place. I got a message that my cab was on the way. At 10:17PM I was sent a message that said the ride was complete. So I had to call back and tell them no one has picked us up. So the dispatcher tried again. At 10:50PM we just gave up. When my daughter isn't at work by 10:30PM someone else works in her place. Usually my daughter is picked up within 10 minutes and at work in 15. This is the second time this has happened. The drivers are not patient when they arrive so you must be outside for their arrival and they often do not arrive in the right place so you have to keep an eye out for them. read more

I was told unusual volume (bull) and I was in a queue (bull). They left me stranded trying to get to airport. I will never use Fairfax red top ever again. I hope they go out of business. Called 2 hours early for a pick-up to the airport. Their automatic system texted us 7 minutes after our requested pick-up time that the cab has been dispatched. Taxi arrived more than 20 minutes late, and the driver asked us what route to take to the airport. We left the choice of route up to him, and he chose a bit of a longer, slower route. This is the first review I have ever written, which goes to show just how pissed I am. I reserved a cab several a cab to arrive at 3:45 pm with specific instructions as to where to pick me up at my building. At around 3:45 I revived a text stating my cab has arrived. I immediately went to grab my bags (I had 3 large suitcases and a carry on). As I was grabbing the bags I received a call from dispatch stating the cab had arrived. I confirmed I was going to it. After struggling down the hall with 2 of the bags and made my to the slow elevator I eventually made it outside to see there was no cab waiting for me. I called the number that sent the text to no avail. Walked to the end of the street and around the building while trying to call what I assumed I was the cab drivers number. Eventually I received another text stating the taxi left because I was a "no show". - this was from cab #91 I finally ordered another cab and that thankfully arrived - even though I had to chase it down the street because it still didn't pull into the parking lot I was in, the one I specifically requested to be picked up at. By the time it arrived it was when I wanted to have arrived at the airport. I'm still in the taxi so I don't know if I've missed my flight yet. That will depend on check-in and security, but if I do miss my flight because of this LATE cab I'll be sure to write another review. In short, just stick with uber. read more

I've used this service many times. Usually ther service has been tolerable with approx 10 minutes late. But the past two calls, the dispactcher forgot to notify the driver and blamed on the driver for not responding, the driver blamed the dispacher, lots of blame game. I was 45 minutes late and almost missed my international flight. The last time, the driver didnt dispatch the car completely, but I got confirmation receipt and driver's info right after I hang up the phone. After 45 minutes, I called again, and I had to wait 30 minutes more since there was no record in the computer that any driver was heading to my house. No one in the company was taking any responsibilty and while I was complaining, the operator hung up. I took Uber right away! Thank goodness my husband has installed Uber app on his phone. read more

Just arrived at National Airport after taking Fairfax Red Top. First time using them and I was impressed with how easy everything was: Made an appt yesterday, got a call at exactly the requested time today from Kwame, our driver, stating he had arrived. He loaded our suitcases and got us to National Airport quickly. He was very pleasant and very professional - I would not hesitate to recommend him and would definitely use this service again. read more

Not even worthy of 1 star. Called to book a taxi at 1:40am. Ended up WALKING half way to where I needed to be...which was HOME!! Dispatcher calls me as im half way home to ask if I still need a taxi. I tell him i was walking, and to his credit, he asks if I would like to have the taxi meet me where I was. Our family was going on a post-Christmas vacation and had reserved a larger car/van to take us to Dulles airport. We have for years used Red Top Cab when we are going to the airport. We requested a larger car or van since we were a family of four and we had six pieces of luggage for our vacation. Their app was not working so we booked the taxi by calling the dispatcher 5-6 hours before we needed it. I received a text verifying our reservation. At the requested time, no taxi had showed up or call us yet. So, after 10 minutes of waiting, I called Red Top and was told that "no driver had accepted our reservation request yet" and it would be another 9 minutes. After waiting some more and not hearing anything, I called Red Top again was told that same thing. I told him that we had a plane to catch and asked him to assign someone to pick us up for we could not wait much longer within fear of missing our flight. About 7 minutes later, we got a call that a driver was on his way to pick us up. The car that arrived was a mid-sized sedan and all of our luggage did not fit in the back; only one large and two smaller carry-ons fit in the trunk. We had to squeeze in and carry one of our large suitcases on our laps for the whole ride to the airport. We will definitely look into other options for getting to the airport for future trips and do not plan to use Red Top of Fairfax again in the future.....they no longer seem reliable or are not concerned with customer service. read more

My boyfriend was supposed to get a ride home from an appointment from them through the MetroAccess paratransit system. They never showed up. As a result, a disabled person had to wait on the street in DC for 2 hours on a hot August day. I called MetroAccess 3 times while he was waiting and they put me on hold for a long time, coming back periodically to tell me that they were still unable to get a hold of anyone at Red Top. The one time they did get to talk to them, Red Top said they were experiencing a shortage of available cabs and promised that his ride would be there in 20 minutes. They still never showed up and never contacted us. MetroAccess providers are supposed to text the customer with status updates on their ride arrival times. It is really bad to leave a disabled person who requires MetroAccess in the first place, stranded on the side of the road after a doctor's appointment. I finally had to leave work to go pick him up myself in DC. Red Top should not agree to a requested ride if they cannot provide the service. read more
