I got there a little late due to my flight being delayed. the bed was hard. it was clean. I had to uber there and the they still charged me $10. I called numerous times to get it refunde. They still didn't refund the money and it has been 2 week. get an itemized receipt before leaving and double check that you're not charged for anything you didn't use cause you probably won't get your money back! read more

I particularly liked this hotel for it's simplicity and convenience, as well as it's quiet location. It's somewhat smaller in size than other typical Marriott Fairfield's, but that's what I liked about it. As with virtually all hotels in the Marriott system, it's very well taken care of. Overall an excellent experience. Front desk staff were nice. Hotel room is comfortable and reasonably modern. There could have been some better housekeeping detail in the bathroom. This place sucks. My room was freezing cold and wouldn't warm up for 90 minutes. I asked for another room and the other room was just as cold. There's no lotion you have to ask for everything. There's no tea by the coffee station. I've never been so miserable in a hotel room. I'm freezing! The pillows smelled like dirty sheets and sweat. I had to call the bell desk for new pillows. Stayed here alone, and was a tad nervous after hearing horror stories of Bakersfield. Well, I've survived and have nothing bad to say. My car was intact when I woke up. My room was clean and comfortable. Great little breakfast. Didn't have time to use the pool or gym. Overall, I'd stay here again, next time I visit my Godson. Pretty confident that I will. Oh it's located near a bunch of gas stations and Del Taco. There are other fast food establishments in that area, but this is where I picked up some burritos to hold me over on my drive. read more

We were driving from SF Bay Area to LA to visit family and the Grapevine was closed! This is not a common occurance by any measure but just remember this: if the Grapevine is closed, just stay home. Don't do what we did. We're like, it will be an adventure and we'll take detours. We had been driving (well, at least in the car) for 13 hours or something ridiculous and needed a a place to crash for the night. I'm using the word "found" loosely, I called over 10 hotels in this area around 1:30am and Fairfield was the only one with the room. It was Yonnas who picked up my call and told us to come over. He was working the front desk (alone, I think). He was welcoming, cheery and polite. It was now 2am and we just needed to sleep. I think we slept 6 hours and headed downstairs for the continental breakfast. I was expecting cereal and milk, prepackaged pastries but nope, this was what I call THE DELUXE breakfast with 2 different waffle batter & hot waffle irons, fresh fruit, coffee station, freshly cooked eggs & sausages, yogurt, etc. We were all so pleasantly surprised, except my 12 year old who was still sleeping in the room. Talked to others at breakfast and many were in the same situation as we were - stranded on their drive down to LA on highway 5. The property was clean, tastefully decorated. We were so happy to have found Fairfield and Yonnas. He is the epitome of great customer service, even in the wee hours of 2am! read more

A hotel that has been renamed and freshened up. It was an old Clarion Hotel. The rooms were small. It was not the quality I expected from a Fairfield. I was thankful it doesn't allow pets, only service animals. I'm happy to see more hotels following the trend. read more

I'm just gonna add to the positive reviews because I've stayed at many hotels and it's rare that they hit the mark. From being greeted by friendly Gaby to the super clean room, comfy bed, amazing pool, yummy breakfast (yes really), to their regular checkout time of 12pm (who is actually ready to go at 11??), and the kindness of the front desk clerk (I didn't catch his name) who let me do a later checkout so I could go for another swim in the morning. The only thing that could've made this stay more perfect would've been if the hot tub was working, but even with that, it was still a great experience. Thank you everyone! read more

This is a really solid choice for your stay in Bakersfield! I accidentally booked the wrong night and had to go through Expedia to change it the day of, but the change was no problem (I just had to pay the room difference). The downsides of this property is that it's not around much and they really didn't enforce any social distancing in the lobby. About 15 of us arrived at the same time and we were super cramped at the entrance as we all awaited check-in. The room was nice and spacious and I remember the bed being quite comfortable. It was a great for a one night stop as we made our way over to Death Valley National Park (about a 4 hour drive away). Lots of free parking on the property. read more

03.26.2019 Day 2 of "Take Your Wife to Work Day" brings us to Bakersfield. This is the second time I've been in the area overnight but our first time to stay at this Marriott property. Located right next to a Hampton Inn & Suites and a La Quinta near the airport, it's easily accessible right off the freeway. There are some fast food places and gas stations near by. This updated and fairly new property was clean and modern. They already had Easter decorations up in the lobby area. We received a free upgrade and some bottled water and cookies upon check in. Yonnas (front desk clerk) was very friendly and helpful. Hubby asked for extra boxes of tissue and Yonnas immediately called housekeeping to bring some up to us in about 10 minutes. I believe our room was a suite, I'm not too sure. It had a separate area with the couch, a desk and TV #2. Our king bed had TV #1 in front of it. The room was quite roomy and it would've been perfect if we had H and Little O with us. There was a small section next to the bathroom that had a microwave, Keurig and a mini refrigerator. The bathroom was spacious and had a walk in shower with temperature control handle away from the shower. Breakfast HOT: small turkey sausage patties, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese (maybe with ham) omelettes, their famous MYO mini waffles station, and oatmeal and six choices of fixings (almonds, walnuts, dried apricots, dried bananas, brown sugar and raisins). At the MYO waffle station they had "cinnamon roll" flavored batter. COLD: boiled eggs, pastries, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, milk and dry cereal. At the waffle making station you had the choice of regular waffles or cinnamon roll flavored. The female employee working breakfast this morning was so friendly and efficient. She was always making sure all the foods were filled and had clean areas/counters, she was friendly always greeting anyone she saw and she was quick to help clear our plates off our tables as we sat and typed away. read more

My reservation was for a executive suite for myself and two minor kids. The facility was very clean, comfortable firm beds. The bathroom comes with large complementary hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash). The complementary breakfast could have been better. The one and only complaint was the people staying above our room. It seems that the hotel itself was made without consideration as we heard them walking back and forth and banging. If you want to sleep in quite bring earplugs because the rooms are not soundproof. read more

We reserved this room through a travel website and we were so happy with the room. Next time we will make the reservation through Marriott as the clerk told us the rooms are cheaper through Marriott. The room was so clean and the bathroom was very nice. Although we were next to a highway, the room was very well insulated for sound and had double pane windows. We rarely heard any road noise. The bed was very comfortable. The free breakfast was amazing. The choices for breakfast were many and we tried most of them! We brought the grandkids over to swim and they had a wonderful time in the pool. We will stay here again next time we are in Bakersfield. read more

We needed a place to stay while a family member waited for results of a medical test. We live in the county but needed a location in town where we could rest until going back to the doctor for the results. After a little research, we found the Fairfield Inn and Suites. If you are visiting the armpit of California (Bakersfield), hotel options are not that great, at least from my experience. I was however, impressed by this location. The hotel is a couple years old, but has great upkeep including like new amenities. Prices are very affordable and if you find yourself commuting into town it is worth the extra 10 minute drive because you will not find many tweakers roaming the property like most hotels in town. We were very excited about such a clean Marriott's was available to us. All started out 5-star then the neighbors from Hades happened. 6 ppl in a room next to us. All night the 1st night was horrific. Banging, crying, screaming, etc etc. Then the next morning we moved rooms. We called front desk several times that 1st night. Thankfully we were in another room the next three days and two nights. Really thought our few items we purchased would have been comped. We are Platinum. We were very pleased with all else. Grateful. I got in late last night and a nice young lady at the counter or front desk was super energetic happy to greet me and check me in. Gave me all the information I needed not too much just enough and send me on my way. She was very helpful gave me directions. This morning early nice guy at the counter also very energetic doing multitasking let me in the gym and also offered me some coffee on way out. Friendly service at the front desk and even got a sweet compliment from one of the housekeeping staff. More than adequate expanded breakfast offerings, which I appreciated being open until 9:30am. Got an upgrade that was roomy and well appointed ~ membership has its privileges! All in all, if I need to return to Bakersfield for an overnighter, I'll be sure to book the Fairfield Inn again. read more

Update: I booked this hotel through work and so the hotel already had my properly spelled email address upon check in. Nevertheless, I still confirmed the spelling of my email address. When I checked out, I was asked if I wanted the receipt emailed to me. I said yes and again confirmed the spelling of my email address. Three days after check out, I had no receipt. I called the hotel and again verified the spelling of my email address for the third time. The front desk staff said they were sending the receipt again. After an hour, with no receipt, I called again and confirmed my email address for the fourth time. Turns out...it was spelled incorrectly all along. Not sure how many times it takes for me to spell it for the staff to pay attention. I was disappointed I had to call so many times to get a receipt. I won't stay here again. read more

I am getting an investigator involved because this hotel is shady as hell and the manager Hilda and JC are up to no good. They are useless in helping my mother and I find out what happened to my 76 yo father with DEMENTIA who wandered away as dementia patients do and he wandered into their hotel on Christmas morning 5am, after being picked up by police or dropped off from jail or Denny's, who knows. His wallet was stolen, missing and a taxi drive him home. We had no clue what happened that day as my father gave us pieces of information that made no sense. We didn't know what hotel he was at til we ran into a bank statement showing there was a withdrawal of $1000 and $144 hotel stay here. This staff was more useful than the USELESS management! They are defensive and combative when we are trying to trace my fathers steps. The helpful employee told me when he checked in and the checkout is automatic. My father has dementia and severe short term memory. He would not know how to book a hotel alone nor go to his room. He never stayed at the hotel. He never checked in because he had no ID, no credit card, no wallet, nothing. I asked the useful employee how my father booked this room and she said maybe someone called. Yes, the one who stole my father's wallet. So the manager Hilda and JC have been HORRIBLE when I asked for their help. Surely they did nothing to refund the room my father never stayed in. Housekeeper went in there and nobody was there and room was not slept in. They don't allow anyone in without ID and I finally got a hold of the taxi driver after seeing our cameras at home seeing the drop off and she specifically named JC being the one who was there calling the cops and my father was walking around for hours trying to find his missing wallet. Cops never arrived. So I directly call JC since he refused to call me back, ring a bell? He refused to help. He lied saying he didn't work on Christmas and I told him the taxi driver remembered him and the scenario and told me he would help. He now got defensive saying he neither confirms or denies working that day. OK that's it. I'm sick of this. Investigation and BPD it is for their a$$! They'll just LIE. Maybe they stole dads money hmmmm? I have been trying to find out what happened to my father and his wallet since January. He had paid the taxi with rare money my mom had saved, two $2 bills. The driver claimed she would give it back to my mom. But never did. I hate liars to my very core and I hate people who do not HELP others. We always help people as we are kind but these damn certain types that infiltrate our town like they own it piss me off! read more

The hotel and staff are fine. Facilities are clean and all staff are very attentive. However, the hotel seems to recently have pursued a very eco-friendly approach. While I applaud their efforts, their strategy and approach has one very serious flaw. The in room mini refrigerators turn off after two hours! This is a good idea gone bad. I placed food in the refrigerator only to find it warm and spoiled the next day. To have a refrigerator turn off after two hours is beyond comprehension and frankly, presents a potential health hazard. Upon check in, I was not informed of this ridiculous change. There is obviously no concern for guests, especially those traveling with children or infants who need formula and food kept cold. I guess you have to set your alarm clock every two hours to wake up and turn the refrigerator back on?? When I asked the front desk about this, they admitted that they had received many complaints but the decision was made by "higher ups". Ok "higher ups", change this now. Having lights turn off after a certain time is fine, certain outlets- fine, but a refrigerator? Absolutely crazy. I am a long time, frequent Marriott guest and this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in any hotel, ever. If you don't care about guest comfort and convenience, just pull the darn refrigerators out. Or here's an idea- get regular refrigerators that stay on and just have housekeeping turn them off when a guest checks out. I don't think I will be staying here again and I will advise others not to unless this is rectified. read more

This hotel was great! It's pretty clear that they haven't been around for that long, as the whole hotel felt brand new. The rooms were spacious with quality beds, large TVs and high ceilings (unusually for a hotel). The staff were really nice and accommodating, even though I checked in a bit early. The hotel is nice, with clean, updated rooms. I'm posting because of the service. Free hot breakfast, which is always great, but this morning they did not have bacon. I made a simple comment in passing, saying "no bacon today?" Ms. Margarita, the food service staff member replied, "you want bacon? I'll make you some," and headed into the kitchen. Paid for a room via the Bonvoy App, but was late in arriving, so updated my late (AM) arrival time via the app. Not only was I refused a room when I arrived by the front desk and left to sleep in my car in the hotel's parking lot, I was denied a refund and told that if I wanted a bed to sleep in I would have to pay for the room a second time. This is one of those moments that tests your adaptability. Book elsewhere if you will arrive after 1AM - or face having to pay twice for a room, under the excuse of the hotel's "audit schedule." Having ben a loyal member of SPG Rewards and now Marriott Bonvoy for almost 10 years collectively, I'm sad to report that I will soon be taking my business elsewhere. read more

It took forever just to check in, the associate was helping a customer with checking in which they did not have reservation. Then the next day I had requested a late check out . The maid knocked on my door asking when are we checking out. I did HAVE THE SIGN On the door do not disturb. Then the front desk person calls and was VERY rude she did not say HELLO or any greeting at all and she said (when are you checking out? did you request a late check out) unprofessional and unwelcoming. My wife and I stayed here on 8/3-8/4/2022. We were first greeted with smile from Susan. She helped checked us in and told us what their hotel offers. Susan also upgraded our room too which was a surprise. Parking is free. It's a little further out in Bakersfield but new and very clean. The shower was a little small than what I'm used too. Loved staying here! The room: The basic room offered everything I needed. The only thing I felt I was missing was a tub. One of my co-workers complained that the shower areas were too narrow and after using the shower I could see how it could be a problem for a bigger person. I didn't have an issue but if you are a little on the larger side, it might be a problem. Although I stayed on the first floor, my room was very quiet and the temperature was well regulated. The staff: The staff was super sweet and very professional. I really appreciated that they called my room shortly after checking in just to make sure I didn't need anything. The breakfast: The breakfast offered several options so I think they do a very good job of satisfying all types of breakfast diets.
