We arrived here after a day of traveling in the car. My three boys were excited to get in the hotel. The view from our room was fabulous; we relaxed on the beds and watched TV. (By the way, the TVs have prime video, Netflix, YouTube, and live TV. You need to sign in to use Netflix and Prime, but you can access YouTube via guest mode.) After we slept, we ate breakfast. The hotel has a very full selection of food choices, like cereal, yogurt, waffles, muffins, eggs, sausage, and bagels, to name a few. There were two attendants working hard to keep breakfast running smoothly. The hotel has a small exercise room and a tiny pool, as well as an outdoor patio with the best view from a hotel that we have ever seen. About the gym: there are 2 elliptical machines, 3 treadmills, a bench, free weights, and a yoga ball. Pros: -The gym overlooks the view from the patio. -The cardio machines have a small selection of popular cable channels, including ESPN, History, HGTV, and Fox News. Cons: -Weights include 5, 8, 10, 20, etc. pound weights, but no 15. -Elliptical machines are super noisy and unpleasant to use. One of the reviews for this place said that checkout was rough, but checkout for us was smooth and quick. This hotel is highly recommended. read more

Some parts of our stay were good, but the bathroom in our room was a major issue. The toilet was extremely low, the water level was very low, and the room clearly wasn't cleaned properly. There was a dirty tampon and dirty Q‑tips left in the trash, which should never happen.The bathtub was also dangerously slippery, and with only one grab bar, it didn't feel safe at all. Another grab bar is definitely needed.While the hotel itself had some nice features and the staff was friendly, the bathroom conditions really took away from the experience. Cleanliness and safety need serious improvement. read more

We stayed here for one night, and would return. It's a great option about 10-11 minutes from downtown Marshall Campus. It's fairly priced, clean, quiet. The staff here were exceptionally friendly. Breakfast was hot, and the area and food selection well maintained. Would stay here again! read more

Customer Service- was greeted and given room keys very promptly. All the staff that I interacted with were very nice and helpful. Room- smaller than expected but not a big deal. 1 lamp didn't have a bulb in the bedroom. Floors creak all over. There's several weak spots in the floor that you sink in if you are caught off guard. Huge bathroom and shower. Plenty of towels. I had no bags in my trash cans. The TV situation- local channels. You can log into Netflix and YouTube. Those are your only 2 options. If you're staying for longer periods, you may wanna consider bringing a Roku or something similar. Their WiFi is free but they also have an internet package for $5 to get the better quality for streaming. Amenities- pool is small. Gym is fairly large and clean. Huge breakfast sitting area. There are booths and tables. There is one washing machine and one dryer on the 2nd floor. I posted pics of the prices. Fire pits are on the back porch area (we didn't use them but they're there) I do NOT like the fact that the breakfast girl has two tip jars sitting out. I think it's a bad look on the hotel. You're not serving us, taking our order or anything for a tip. As I made my plate each morning, she was hovering behind me to wipe behind me even though I didn't make a mess. It's too much. I've worked in hotels before and know the process for breakfast. I would never ask for tips. I was paid hourly for doing my job. Overall: was in town for work. Overall they were super friendly and helpful when needed. I'd stay again but I think it needs to be updated for sure. read more

After attending a family reunion in Hinton, WV and reconnecting with old friends and all the changes in the town in 10+ years since we last were able to attend. We decided to drive back to Huntington for our AM flight back to Florida. Good ratings and previous experience with Fairfield, we chose to stay there. A good choice. We asked for and received a handicap room for my wife and one was available. Check in was swift and easy. We were very pleased with our room, which was clean, comfy and well appointed. And most of all quiet, important for us. We had a great view from our room plus a wonderful patio with fantastic sunset views. Other amenities were a microwave, mini-fridge, wonderful beds, also a large snack center (for purchase), several comfy sitting areas, fireplace and well equipped breakfast buffet. Oh and an exercise center for the young'uns. A very pleasant staff and a great stay. When we're back in the area, we will return. read more

Great spot! We are traveling from NC to Indiana. This is a perfect halfway point. Friendly staff, clean rooms and a nice breakfast. (Yes.... Waffles!!!) The best part was the view in the morning off the back patio. This will be a regular stop. read more

This hotel is now called Delta Hotel. Room was nice and spacious and I did like the location - plenty of food options in the area. The room was well updated and had plenty of room for our family of 5. I also liked the separation of the bedroom, so that our younger kids could go to sleep and the rest of us could hang out and watch TV while they slept. The only bad part was the bathroom setup. The door was a sliding door which offers absolutely no privacy AND there was no door lock to boot.... So double whammy on the bathroom issues. This room also only had a shower, which wasn't awful, but a bath would have been better for my young kids. read more

I originally posted this review as a 4 Star experience. However, that was before I tried to checkout. I stood at the front desk for several minutes, while I listened to staff in the office behind the counter swap stories and gossip. I waited and waited, thinking someone would have to be paying attention to the front desk of a hotel. But I was wrong. Finally, I stepped behind the counter and into the back office to gain someone's attention. I politely asked if someone could help me check out. The immediate response from the front desk employee was "oh sorry, I was trying to eat my breakfast." I replied, "I'm sorry to interrupt but I need to check out and I've been waiting quite some time." Once checked out, I sat in the lobby to wait for my travel partners to come to the lobby. I watched as guest after guest had to wait at the front counter for someone to help them. Some walked away, while others did what I had done and stepped behind the desk to seek someone in the back room who just couldn't be bothered while she ate her breakfast. This person doesn't belong working at the front desk. My experience went from good to bad real quick. Thursday, June 27 at 8:30am is the time of my check out. Management should be able to determine who was supposed to be in charge of the front desk of their business by this information. I didn't want to post her name. Overall, I had an excellent experience at this hotel. The location is convenient for Huntington with a handful of things nearby, and the curb appeal and safety/security both checked out. The staff were all super friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was well above average, with nice lobby areas as well. Bonus points for the nice patio featuring a super cool view. As for my room, it was a 2 queen room which was quite nice with a mini fridge, microwave, and all the amenities you'd expect in a normal Fairfield. The desk area was spacious and there were plenty of outlets, and the room was well lit. I Only Left With 3 Complaints: -Broken Bathroom Door Lock -Some Grime in the Shower -The Beds* *While clean with nice linens, the beds were super hard to the point of being annoying, an issue I've ran into at a different Fairfield of a similar age as well. We had a good nights sleep here. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, and friendly staff at the front desk and breakfast area. Lots of Marshall University fans in the hotel. :) The only reason for 4 stars-The walls are somewhat thin. There was a cleaning crew working after 9:30 pm; we could hear the doors closing loudly every time they came in and out of the rooms. It stopped after about twenty minutes and then it was pretty quiet. Would stay here again. read more

We checked in last week for 3 nights. Our first room was missing the tv remote. We called the front desk & they said they had run out of remotes but would bring us one from another room. Glad the hotel wasn't fully booked. While we waited, my husband went to get ice. However the ice bucket was full of water. It had never been emptied when the room was cleaned. We informed the front desk & showed her when she brought the remote. We were moved to another room. The next morning we stopped by the front desk & asked to have our room cleaned. They said they would. However when we returned all that was done was the bedding pulled up, the trash was emptied & we got fresh towels. Not what we asked but we were too tired. Our last full day there we again asked the front desk to make sure our room was thoroughly cleaned & not just "refreshed" as I have an immunocompromised system. The guy in the lobby assured us we were "on the list". When we returned that night it was even worse. Because it was late and we were leaving the next morning, we let it go. I did call the front desk to complain about it and was told there must have been a "communication" issue. I assured her there wasn't, quoted the written information paper & the sign on at the front desk. She apologized and said the manager would be there at 8a the next morning and would call. We were in our room until 11a and no call. As our child will be attending the local university in the fall and we expect to be visiting a few times, it's obvious this hotel (& honestly all the Bonvoy brands in the area) won't be getting our business. Don't even bother with the Delta Hotel in downtown Huntington. It's even worse. read more

Bad service! They have a card in the rooms how their survey showed people didn't want regular housekeeping. Maybe during the pandemic but not now. A transparent attempt to save the hotel money and increase their profits. We requested daily service (what we paid for) and got it two out of three days. We were told breakfast was 6-10. So while we were finishing ours why did they start pulling the food at 9 am? I killed more than half a dozen flying bugs/beetles in our room. When I told someone she said they are Stink Bugs, some of the rooms have them but they are harmless. Also had issues with the TV not working and having to be reset and getting locked out of the bathroom because the lock wasn't working correctly. There was a hole in the bathroom wall. Talk about a steal. We ended up at this one year old (nearly smelled new) hotel thanks to a Priceline deal for around $110. Complimentary warm breakfast and all- like, the nice kind with Greek yogurt, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and an oatmeal toppings bar. I have fond memories of my oatmeal from this visit- walnuts, raisins and all...I digress. Five reasons for the five stars: 1.) super handy location off the highway with a well lit parking lot 2.) clean, clean and clean. It was not only designed and decorated well but they've maintained it over the one year that it's existed 3.) Again, the breakfast was top notch in the world of hot complimentary breakfasts 4.) the pool was warm, clean and sported an amazing view over the mountains. Overall a very good one-night stay at this Fairfield that sits just a mile or two outside of the downtown Huntington, WV area. The room was adequate, decent tv with access to Netflix and other streaming services, and a very good sized shower. There is a spacious dining area just off the lobby, along with an outdoor patio with comfortable furniture. Plenty of parking. My only gripe is the drive up to the top of the hill to get to this property. The street lights weren't working so it led to kind of a dark and creepy drive at night. I made mention of that in a survey I received from Marriott, and it was quickly addressed by management of the property, indicating they are waiting on the business park to make replacements. Sounds good, and I was very appreciative of that response. read more

Stayed here one night while traveling cross country. Hotel seemed very new (new enough that our GPS couldn't quite locate it). Our room had a nice view looking into downtown Huntington. Beds were comfortable and the room was spacious enough for three adults to maneuver around in. The fitness center had floor to ceiling windows which I think is cool but the sun was POURING in and it made the whole place really really warm. Breakfast was standard fare for Fairfields. read more

I was only staying one night for business, so did not want the hassle of switching to a different room. The front desk employee did not ask how my stay was. The same person checked me in on both visits. Checkout and the rest of the staff were wearing them. Prices were reasonable for sure. Parking was easy in their large lot. I'll be back here if I'm through town again and I expect they will get the 5th star then. read more

Nice hotel with a great view of the mountains. Complimentary upgrade to a king suite was greatly appreciated. The room was large with a separate sitting area. The room and bathroom were clean. The only negative is the bed - too firm. First night in the bed was ok but the second night was too uncomfortable- had to sleep on the couch. Outdoor seating is nice too. Hubby and I enjoyed our stay here for the weekend of the Marshall University Marathon in November. I had called beforehand to see if we could get late check-out, and the woman said that there was no need to request ahead of time, to just ask when we checked in. We arrived before check-in time and were able to get our room. Plus, we were able to get late check-out til 2 PM! We got a first floor room, and I was a bit worried since we were by an exit door. Thought there would be a lot of foot traffic and noise. It wasn't a problem at all! The room was very clean (I'm extremely picky!), and the hotel seemed fairly new. The front desk staff were personable and efficient. Loved the 24-hour coffee/tea bar with to-go cups in the lobby. read more

While Fairfield is the low end of the Marriott line, this is not a low end hotel. Everything is new, and they did some really thoughtful things when they built it to take the surroundings into account. The hotel is up on a hill, so they put floor to ceiling windows in the workout room so you can look out from your treadmill to everything below, and it's a gorgeous view. The same goes for an adjacent patio with fire pit and the breakfast room. The rooms are nice - very modern with nice linens. There's a good sized desk with a comfortable chair to get work done. The staff is friendly. The only knock I have is on the breakfast. It's your standard powdered eggs/waffles/cereals/yogurt, and while it's serviceable, it's not that great. On the other hand, it's included with your room rate, and it's fast, but I had better luck with the Bob Evans down the hill. Downtown is about 10 minutes away, with some pretty good food choices, too. Not bad for a small town. read more

Returning toward Virginia from a business trip to a National Conference in Indiana, we were delighted (and exhausted from long driving) when we arrived near dark. The beautiful and clean facility atop a commanding hill is graced with a very helpful and friendly staff who know their way around Huntington, so we were able to find medically necessary foods for my wife's needs - after dark. All the staff we interacted with were personable and helpful. The entry area was clean and welcoming with sofas and chairs and flavored water. I love the entry cards that you just hold up to the door. They are so convenient I wish all hotels had them. The room was clean and the size was reasonable. There was a large table for computers and plenty of outlets. There was one small closet and 2 drawers. The beds were comfortable with 3 pillows on each bed. There was a small fridge and small coffee maker. It was quiet at night - yeah! The bathroom was immaculate - everywhere. The shower was extremely clean - the walls, liner, curtain, shower head with a good stream - did I mention immaculate? A great asset considering other bathrooms I've been in the last 3 nights. It also had nice storage for shampoo and soap. The only unusual thing was the towel hooks were behind the door and awkward to reach from the shower. The breakfast room was large, clean and airy. There were lots of choices, and the coffee was hot and fresh. We would definitely return. read more

Our room wasn't ready upon our promised check in time of 3pm. We had to wait 45 mins for it to be cleaned. Once we were handed a key we entered our room to find the bathroom dirty. The previous occupants hair all over the floor, shower walls and tub. Floor didn't look like it had been cleaned. Toilet seat dirty. I had to Clorox wipe everything down. It made us nervous if the rest of the room had really been cleaned well. Cleaning staff was notified and someone came in and sprayed the shower with a cleaner but after he left there was still hair in places so the clean was not thorough. Our room had 4 occupants but not enough towels, hand towels or wash cloths for 4. No laundry bag for dirty laundry. Room smelled musty. One tiny can for trash in the entire room with a bag the size of a small plastic grocery sack. Front desk was notified about dirty room conditions at check out and all I was told was they were sorry. Charged $270 for the night. Not worth this price. We will be looking for a different hotel on our next stay in Huntington. read more

Room was prepaid for months in advance. Upon arrival, I was checked into a room that was already occupied. I was even given keys to this room and able to enter the room where there was a sleeping guest. I checked the folio later and realized that someone had checked that guest into the room that I prepaid for. The front desk did get me into another room, and the general manager promised an unspecified number of points to make up for the issue, however the number of extra points given for the stay was a MEASLY 250 points! They may as well have said tough luck at that point, because something that small is a giant slap in the face and shows that the management of this hotel does not care about their guests or the potential danger they create when they allow a guest to walk into another guest's room without knowing what they are walking into. I would advise anyone considering this hotel to think twice about staying here. read more

Within the last week, I have stayed at four different Marriott properties, three of which were Fairfield. This was by far the best, probably because it was the newest. The view is outstanding. I've never used a fitness center where the view was so great. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast area was large and well kept. The employees, especially in the breakfast area, were very friendly. I would not hesitate to use this hotel again. read more

Great property. The rooms are huge and great for a longer stay. The rooms have plenty of closet and drawer space. The kitchen is usable with a decent sized fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave and real dishes. It's more like a small apartment than a hotel room. It's right off the highway. Super clean. The maid staff were really cheerful and friendly. The front desk took care of me from the start. Uber can take you where you need to go. There is a Bob Evans in the same plaza as the hotel. The closest place to drink is by the college about 2 miles. Downtown huntington has some fantastic places to eat and drink. Free wifi and ice. I'll definitely come back to stay here when I'm in town. read more

This hotel is so cozy and clean. The beds are so so comfortable, I didn't want to leave. The breakfast was delicious, especially the waffles. The receptionist was very helpful, check in was so quick and guess what, they sell wine....lol....I can't wait til next time. My family and I were traveling cross different state lines for our vacation, We had stopped at this hotel for a three day rest and sightseeing. The first time it was from Aug. 25, 2022 to Aug. 28, 2022. When I made my reservations some weeks prior by the same Manager, I was told I could wave the $20.00 incidental fee, of which I was not aware they charged. However, when I got to the hotel to check in, a dark hair employee at the desk stated they could not do that, because it is a computer generated thing. I was upset, being on a fixed income as a senior and counting on a certain amount of money in my travels for the other hotels; that was going to put me behind. I again reiterated as to what the manager had conveyed to me. The main manager came out from the back room, as he heard me talking. He said that I would get it back. I asked when. He said it is up to your bank, which could take 7 to 10 days or less. He also said I could put the $20 incidental fee on another card. I told him that I was not going to do that. Then I find out it is $20.00 per the three nights, which made it $60.00 total! Then the dark haired desk person said they clean the room once a week. I guess she thought I was staying a week. I said I did not need the rooms vacuumed, dusted, or the bathrooms scrubbed. But I would like to have clean towels daily, since there were four of us in the room and no where to hang the extra towels. I also asked to have our trash taken out daily, and the beds made. None was done, until I ask the second shift manager for clean towels and toilet paper, and to please take the trash, as it was falling on the floor from their small cans. He was very nice about it and did give me more clean towels and more toilet paper, plus emptied the trash. Our beds never did get made the whole time we are there. The next morning I saw a house keeper and mentioned to her about my request for the beds to be made, more clean towels and toilet paper, plus emptying the trash. She had asked what room we were in and marked it on the paper work.After we got back from a long tiring day, none of it was done. Every evening when we got back from a long day of activities, we would have to go get towels and toilet paper, and asked to get the trash emptied. When I said something about the lack of service, the dark haired person at the desk got an attitude of how it is and said that they only provide services every three days. So it went from providing service of once a week to every three days. I did not ask for complete housing cleaning job, just some necessary things. Needless to say, I did not leave a room tip. Breakfast was horrible. The first morning, they had what looked like spinach quiche and croissant sandwiches of egg, cheese, and ham. None of us like the spinach quiche. So we got the croissant sandwiches. We took one bit and it was cold. So we threw it out. We then ate cereal. I had asked the woman working in the food area, if there were in hot chocolate mix in the back. I also told her about the cold croissant sandwiches. She gave me an attitude look and did not say a word. She then came out with a box with some hot chocolate mix and sat the whole box down on my table, again not saying a word. I took one packet of mix out of the box and went and put the rest in the box up on the breakfast area counter for others. Every day there was this spinach quiche that looked like it was rewarmed. By the third day, the bottom of the quiche was brown, not the same as the first day. The second day were the muffin sandwiches, which were nice and warm. The third day was not only the browned spinach quiche, but there was small round baked egg quiche of some kind. It was burnt. Needless to say, we again had hardly any breakfast. Two mornings we had to go to a restaurant for breakfast because of not getting much to eat. When I checked out on Aug. 28, there was a nice female manager at the desk, a fairly new one. She tentatively listen to all my negative experiences and took notes. More comments to come on my return back to this hotel. On Sept the 3rd, my family and I were put in room 327?. When we got to the room, it smelt heavy of smoke. I cannot tolerate smoke. My throat started to burn and I was getting nauseated. By the time I had called the desk to ask for a move, the day shift male manager had left and a nice second shift female manager said she will send a housekeeper up to see if they can spray the room. The nice housekeeper came and gave a couple of squirts to the curtains and then said they knew this room smelt of smoke, that it has been reported before. She said maintenance refused to take care of the problem. So I called the front desk again. She finally gave us another room. In the morning I told the male manager that check us in on Sept 3rd, that he gave us a room smelt of heavy smoke. I stay in Marriott 60+ nights/year and never bothered to review any of them on yelp. However, this one is doing some seemingly small things right so I thought it's worth an extra mention. Love that they have organic agave syrup, extra hot sauces, and a well-stocked breakfast and breakfast crew. They have a really lovely patio that overlooks the town it's great for breakfast or sunset. The town of Huntington has it's share of riffraff but yet you don't see any of them up on the hill which is nice so I felt really safe. The staff were amazing ( Thanks Crystal!) and the hotel was very clean and we had a restful night's sleep. Will definitely return. read more

I travel weekly for work and I've never been so uncomfortable. The walls are way too thin for any privacy. I heard the person next to me talk and worst of all snore. I heard the person above me open and shut the door each time, along with walking around. I will never stay here again, luckily there's other hotels in the area. read more

Property is nice, bright and well kept. Parking is ample and more importantly FREE! Room was clean, bed was decent but ambient noise in the room (fridge, plumbing, HVAC) was very loud making consistent sleep difficult. But, I don't know if this was just because of temporary staffing issues or busy but when I checked in there was no one at the front desk for at least 5 minutes if not longer. This happened not just once during my stay but at least four times. read more
