About the gym: there are 2 elliptical machines, 3 treadmills, a bench, free weights, and a yoga ball. Pros: -The gym overlooks the view from the patio. -The cardio machines have a small selection of popular cable channels, including ESPN, History, HGTV, and Fox News. Cons: -Weights include 5, 8, 10, 20, etc. pound weights, but no 15. -Elliptical machines are super noisy and unpleasant to use. Both times I came here, (once in the daylight and once at night), I struggled to see the entrance to the curvy driveway which goes straight up a hill where the hotel sits. Please... a sign at road level (lit at night) is imperative. I was side-swiped by a car both times as I inched along trying to find the driveway entrance. The bathroom fan worked very well and cleared out the steam from the shower in just a few minutes. You will need a parking pass when you check in, or you may be towed. The only downsides I experienced were the walls were kind of thin and my neighbors were having sex for a few hours and I may as well had been in their room I basically heard everything, and good for them, really. Also the bathroom didn't have toothpaste or hair products which would have been nice as I forgot to bring any. Pretty normal to have in nicer rooms these days.

You walk in like you are entering a hotel, but the small walkway leads you into a large atrium area with a wide staircase that leads up to a second floor balcony that overlooks the bottom floor. The place is well lit, but has lots of reds and rich colors. There is a restaurant in here too, which I did not enter into, but I heard that it is a bit fancy and has lots of elephant decor. The restrooms and nice and off to the side. The space easily help 10 rounds of 10 plus a long table for about 20 kids and a long buffet table. They had space int he back for a coat check and behind that they had setup areas for the caterers. They do not have parking, but there is ample street parking and a parking garage down the street. We walked over from the Holiday Inn and it was not a problem at all. I am not sure who the caterer was but the food was good. They had a Caesar salad, white cheddar mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, green beans with shallots, and a beef carving station. For the kids, they had fries and chicken tenders. The chicken tenders looked great but were extremely dry and overcooked. We went to an event like this at the Big Sandy center, and this hotel was A LOT nicer! I would highly recommend it. When I arrived, I noticed the valet delivered a car and then went back inside while I waited for assistance (there's no self-parking at the hotel unless you find something nearby on your own). After waiting for a bit, I went inside to track down the valet myself. Check-in wasn't the warmest either as I found it to be not very inviting, and there was no Hilton Honors recognition, which is usually a a benchmark for members. I was also questioned about two people checking in when it was just me who came up to the counter. It made me feel like they were keeping an eye on the food and beverage credit, but who knows it could have just been me, it wasn't in the friendliest of tons and just rubbed me the wrong way. The room was comfortable but definitely showed its age upon closer inspection. It had all the essentials you need like an iron, full-size ironing board, safe, mini fridge, and so on. The bed was super comfortable, and we slept well, which is what matters most to me. The breakfast buffet the next morning was just okay, but the staff really stood out. They were friendly and even went to the back to grab me a Diet Coke, which I appreciated. I'm a big fan of the Hilton brand, and because of my loyalty, I'd stay here again. It wasn't an amazing stay, but the location downtown, with its walkability to good food and shopping, added to the stay. The common areas are great too, so while there's room for improvement with some of the interactions and operations (based on my experience), I'd choose to stay here again.

Upon arrival my check-in process took about five minutes, which was great as I had my dog Simba in the car waiting for me. The associate was friendly and assisted me with where I should park. And she gave me a first-floor room so I didn't have to take my puppy boy on the elevator. I stayed in a room with two full beds and a couch. The room was clean and modern. The heat worked well which was much appreciated as it was chilly in WV! Plus the bed was comfortable. I stayed out too late the night before to catch breakfast lol. But that was fine as I wanted to stop by a local spot on my way out of town. The hotel was quiet as I slept the night through with no issues. My invoice was slid under the door when I woke up. I will definitely stay at this hotel again! It was in a great location downtown with lots of restaurants, shopping and a movie theater nearby as well as the Civic Center if you are attending an event.
