Update to clarify the two amazing employees that assisted me. Gary and I believe Mary (she worked night shift at the front desk on 8/28/21 @5/6am) I will try to explain how excellent and carefree our service was...... We didn't arrive until just before midnight 8/24/21. This supervisor should be a manager (I failed to get his name but I'm sure you can see who worked that night). Although it was late he was so welcoming as if it was 8am! He accomodated us because I reserved a room that didn't allow a dog and gave us an additional room just below the other. He didn't hesitate or make it seem as if he was doing us a favor (although he was), he just did it. Less than 10 minutes later we were in two very well appointed rooms. EVERYTHING was to par. Also the early morning of 8/28 I spoke to the front desk (monique?) We were there because we were moving our daughter into school. She spoke with me for like 10 minutes helping me figure out getting a dolly and helped ease my anxiety (something she didn't have to do). I asked her name from Darryl (who only gave me Moniques name) but I know she was night shift to early am.... I sincerely thank you! The laughs and exchange of stories eased all my fears! Service is a stickler for me and when you're given this level of attentiveness it's shows how much they care, even for the hotel itself. I had no complaints about anything in the rooms they were perfectly cleane and what is expected! I will return without hesitation. read more

I typically stay at another hotel in the area when I'm in my corporate office, however, due to my poor planning, my preferred hotel was booked solid during that week and I reluctantly had to make other arrangements. Since this hotel is close to the office AND a Marriott chain, I thought it was safe... Boy was I wrong! Let's start with the parking situation... although I didn't get any pictures, there were at least a dozen signs throughout the parking reminding of the penalties for not paying to park by using a separate app that you must download. Checking in wasn't too challenging, and the two front desk employees were kind.. The room (318), that I was given was one of my biggest pet peaves... the room was equipped with a portable AC, with the hose connected to the window... the slit was big enough to allow for any type of bug to fly in and make itself at home... I went home with so many bite marks where the bugs had just feasted on me. My other complaint was the fact that apparently there is a family of stray cats that are obviously fed by someone, I don't think she was staying at the hotel (although I'm not sure), but she showed up everyone morning with food and fresh water for them. To some this might not be a big deal, however for someone who has a huge phobia of cats... this was unwelcome! My take away - do not wait for the last minute to book my preferred hotel! read more

I booked for one night since I would be at the (almost) end of driving after a long-distance move and thought this would be a good way to sleep so I could wake up early and get the last 120 miles of the trip in. I stay - on average - 20-25 nights per year at Residence Inns and am rarely disappointed, but this was really exceptional in terms of bad: I originally thought I would arrive around 9pm, but called around dinnertime to say I would still be there but it might be closer to 11pm (this was actually the most pleasant interaction as the woman who answered the phone was very nice). My 325 mile trip wound up taking almost 10.5 hours, so you can imagine how tired I was when I arrived at the hotel just before 2am, right? Unfortunately for me, the night auditor doesn't understand much. First he asked if I had a reservation? I cannot stand that question, isn't it obvious at 2am on a weekday, I'm tired and have luggage?? Then he told me all about the "no party" policy and had me read/sign a consent form (I just signed, I have no idea what it said). Then he gave me a key and said I was all set, but I told him I couldn't be because I needed to give him my new credit card. He INSISTED that the credit card was in the reservation; well, technically "A" credit card was in the reservation, but that was connected to my Marriott profile and had been in there for years. Someone stole my card a few weeks prior, so there was absolutely no way that card would authorize for the stay. He insisted it would. I insisted it wouldn't. Was the room any better?? No, it smelled as though I was the first person to be in there in months - an odd combination of mildew and some random odor - which was less than desirable but I was tired and couldn't imagine dealing with the night auditor again. The bed was awful - no idea how old the mattress was, but it was definitely lumpy and everytime I moved the slightest bit, it creaked. Thank God I was on the first floor otherwise the people below me would have thought it was a wild party in that bedroom. The icing on the cake was the bathroom (pictures attached), see that gross tub and wall/floor behind the toilet? Maybe housekeeping thinks no one will notice, but how could anyone NOT notice?? And all of the dirt/dust on the closet door tracks?? Gross. I left at 8am, thrilled to have had almost no sleep and a nasty shower but so glad to be gone! Unfortunately I did not receive a survey from Marriott 48 hours later, and when I emailed Jim Marcil (the GM) directly, he never replied. NEVER. REPLIED. He is also the GM of the Courtyard across the street, so I have crossed that off my list and you should as well. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. Pick another hotel in the area. General manager lacks any and all ability to have a cordial conversation. As a platinum elite member, my experience has lost any loyalty I have had for Marriott and have already completed a status match to Hilton and will be taking my loyalty elsewhere. I stay on average 100+ nights in hotels a year and the actions of the general manager have caused me to AVOID MARRIOT AT ALL COSTS. read more

We stayed here for two nights whilst attending a nearby wedding. The room was very worn. Carpeting old and dirty. A questionable stain on the couch/lounger was gross and disgusting. The worst part was the bed. I had the worst nights sleep ever. The mattress was lumpy and soft. Just awful. read more

I was in town for work, and my colleagues and I were put into the Residence Inn by Marriott. It was about 25 minutes out from the airport and situated in an area where it's near restaurants and coffee shops. I liked how the suites were like apartment-style, where you have a living room area with a TV, a little kitchen area with a small dining table, and another separate room with a bed, a TV, a sink, and a bathroom. The room itself was a little outdated, but clean (always a plus!). The concierge/front desk is very friendly and helpful, especially Ms. Gloria. I like how when you check-in, you receive a little goody bag, filled with some popcorn from a local business, a granola bar, and some water bottles. The hotel also has a little conference area and offers complimentary breakfast (hot breakfast, that is, such as English muffins topped with scrambled eggs and garlic spinach, sausage links/patties, scrambled eggs, cereal, waffles, breakfast pastries, toast, coffee/juice/milk) daily. +apartment-style suites +daily complimentary HOT breakfast +ask for Ms. Gloria :D +friendly staff :D +free parking read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the Easter weekend and I cannot say I was overall impressed. First, I will highlight the positives: most of the staff here were extremely polite and made an effort to say good morning, goodnight and check in when I would pass them in the lobby. I really appreciated that! The location was great - very close to restaurants and the mall. The room was spacious - I liked the fact that it was a studio. Now, some things I didn't like. My first night I saw a very small ant in the bathroom. Luckily, neither I or my boyfriend saw any other insects for the rest of our time there. We were placed on the first floor right around the corner from the lobby so we heard all of the conversation and noise that was happening outside of our door. The gym room is super small - only a few machines. When I went in there two of the machines were taken and the only one left was broken so that was a disappointment. The ceiling seemed to be really thin(?) because the person above us was stomping throughout the night and we could hear every step s/he took. There was also a noise, I'm not sure if it was the heater or the elevator or plumping that was going on and off throughout our stay which wasn't that pleasant. I am still on the fence about if I'd come back or not - I love the location don't like bugs ( even small ants) or disruptive noises. read more

Typical residence inn, great location and reasonably priced. Being platinum members we were upgraded to double room. Kiddo was super excited to have a room for himself. Overall Smiling staff, and typical breakfast buffet which was getting replenished as soon as it got over...Overall a value for money visit, Kudos. read more

This is such a great place. I've been coming here for years. The staff knows me on a first name basis. When I check in, my room is always ready and clean. There is ample parking. They feature super large flat screen TV's in all of their rooms. The two bedroom suites have three of them as well as a gas fireplace. They also feature iBahn wifi and it's free. You can keep your wifi connection on iBahn working for up to 30 days unlike other hotels where you have to check in every 24 hours. They have a nice fitness room with a filtered water cooler. You won't be disappointed. read more

Last night was my first stay at the Residence Inn Hartford-Manchester. The hotel room and the neighborhood were the best things about our stay. The first room my husband and I checked in to was on the first floor, next to the entrance/exit with window exposures to the parking lot. We immediately requested a different room. The second room we received was located on the second floor next to the stairs and elevator. The noise level from the staircase and elevator was too loud and caused me to write this review at 6:50am. It also does not help that the guests above our room have been stomping and or running around since 5:00am. Unfortunately, for us this was not a pleasant stay and am unsure if we will return if there are no other room options available. read more

Wow..what can I say about my experience at the Residence inn Manchester Connecticut. We lost power due to a tropical storm. We needed to find a place that would accept a dog and have room for my multigenerational family. My father has Parkinson's disease and is 80 years old. My mother has diabetes and is 77 years old. We checked in on 8/04 @ 630pm. The clerk named Gary stated we could extend our time as needed if we were still without power in our home. We called on 8/05 @ 8am to advise them that we would like to extend our days. We were advised by Gail Ellison that we could not extend our days because people had made reservations so we had to leave by 11am?? Here we are with elderly, sick parents and we have to get up and leave because someone else who lost power put in a reservation after us gets our room?? I'm an essential employee who has to report into work regardless on what's going on around me. Covid-19 or power outages! What an insane concept this hotel has to kick someone out because other people just realized that they would be out of power for an extended amount of time and at the last minute they try to make a reservation! Now I have to split my family into other hotels because there aren't any rooms due to the outage! I'm extremely disappointed with the Residence inn of Manchester. I've stayed at other Residence inns in Texas and they don't have that same policy. Thank you Residence Inn for the incredible and unforgettable experience! read more

I staid with my kids and had a super late check in. The desk lady was super friendly. The rooms were super clean, spacious and all you need if you are staying longer. Pool looks cool. Breakfast had pretty much everything for the carb or protein lovers. The breakfast staff was super friendly and everyone had a smile on their face. My wife and I stayed at this particular hotel for the weekend of Feb. 9, 2017 since we where attending a wedding in connecticut. From the moment we entered the room my wife was impressed and stated that this was the best place we ever stayed out, beautiful, clean, sheets, bathroom, all was impressive. We stayed 2 nights and all was perfect, staff, cleanliness, food, etc. As for breakfast service great choices, fresh, clean once again and great service by a lady named Ana Maria, we had a conversation and found she was from peru, what a nice lady; so helpful and attentive (if all places had an Ana Maria available, she definitely was the icing on the cake). We inadvertently stopped here when we were forced off the roads by a snow storm. Ironically, we were on our way to the other hotel, but my car got stuck in the snow right in front of this joint and would go no further. Fortuitous? We grabbed the necessities and trudged inside. The prices were steep - but comparable with other hotels in the area. However, we got a suite with kitchenette for the same price! Fat lot of good it did us, but take heed if you are going to be in the area on other-then-snowed-in business or whatnot. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and the breakfast spread was bomb. The maintenance crew even helped me get my vehicle unstuck aster I did some 180's in the street. That was top-notch, they had more then enough work to do but stopped to help. read more

Hotel has friendly lobby people. Good rooms. My only concern is quality of food. It is very low. Kitchen also cannot sometimes make even simple egg meal, like omelettes, etc. They often promote low quality fast food but nothing freshly made. This is unfortunate given other hotels focus on healthy meals. This does not fit well with otherwise good value this hotel presents. I am Platinum Marriott member and usually food in Marriotts is weak link. This is main reason that when I have a choice I don't stay at Marriott and would prefer Westin or Hilton. This Marriott needs to catch up with other hotels to offer end to end value. read more

I stayed at the Residence Inn Monday 6/8/15 through the following Thursday 6/18/15. After 7 nights of sleeping/getting bit by bed bugs, I finally realized what was happening and asked to switch rooms. The front desk was very apologetic, offered to get the room checked out by an exterminator, and offered to comp the prior night if the exterminator found anything. Unfortunately, a room was not available until noon that day. My fiancé (not yet convinced these were bed bugs) was sitting on the bed using his computer when he felt a bug crawl on his leg. He was able to catch it and provided it to hotel management. The hotel staff then brought up quarters and laundry detergent for us to wash all of our clothes. Hotel management could have offered to do the laundry for us as this was a very time consuming process considering I had 2 weeks of clothes but did not. The hotel did have my suit jackets dry cleaned and returned the same day at no cost to us. He was able to take the clothes from our first room, 328, straight to the laundry and then after drying them, straight to our new room 207. This seemed to be an acceptable way to decontaminate our clothes but we had no idea how to deal with our luggage/toiletry bags/shoes and other items that may house bed bugs. We also weren't getting much advice from the hotel outside of "wash all of your clothes." Finally, around 2 pm, after a few attempts to contact the manager of the hotel, the assistant general manager, Justin, met with my fiancé and confirmed that they were in fact bed bugs. He offered to replace all of our luggage (4 bags total), find us some guidance on how to treat footwear, get us a new room at the Courtyard next door (same ownership/management group) for the rest of the stay, comp the room by crediting my account points for each night I had stayed in the room with bed bugs, and produce a document accepting financial responsibility for bed bugs should we bring them home. This brought me some relief, like I knew I would be taken care of but it was short lived! Around 4 pm, hotel management had withdrawn their previous offer, replacing it with a $100 credit to replace luggage, no room at the Courtyard, and 1 free night. This was not an acceptable solution to me. The assistant general manager, Justin, informed me that Ecolab was coming to the hotel the next day to inspect and treat both rooms and my belongings. Justin told me that the representative would be onsite for a few hours and to call over my lunch break if I'd like to talk to him. The next day I called the hotel at 12:40 and the representative had already left. Justin then informed me that I couldn't speak to him directly anyway as he is a third party vendor. Instead, Justin asked that I email him my list of questions for Ecolab. My questions were mostly about how they inspected the room, what they did to treat it and my belongings, and what I should do to make sure these don't come home with me. I still hadn't heard back by the time I got back to the hotel around 6pm. I walked into my room to find the bedding thrown all over the room and a bare mattress. This was not how I expected them to inspect/treat for bed bugs. The front desk sent someone up to make the bed while I tried to figure out what had actually been done. I called the general manager, Peter. He was very short and informed me that my room was "inspected" but nothing in the room was treated because no evidence of bed bugs was found. He said additional bed bugs were found in my first room and it, along with all adjacent rooms, were treated (despite a lack of bed bug evidence in the adjacent rooms). I'm not sure why they couldn't treat my room, especially my luggage, like previously discussed if nothing more than to give me a level of comfort when taking my belongings home. I had spent the last two days completely consumed by this situation, both mentally and physically with over 25 bites on my body. I was incredibly stressed out and concerned for my health, the safety and cleanliness of my home, and indescribably frustrated with the amount of time it had taken for me to personally try to remedy the situation with no help or sympathy from the hotel. Not to mention, sleeping was near impossible between the long list of to-do items in order to get rid of the bugs, constant itching, and the unescapable feeling of bugs crawling all over me. The general manager, Peter, was completely cold to the situation. He felt that he was enough of an expert on bed bugs that I could direct my Ecolab questions directly to him instead which seemed sketchy. This was by far the worst customer service I had experienced and I was extremely disappointed that it was coming from the general manager. Regardless, I contacted customer care who took a report. They didn't respond to me until I posted a review on the Marriott Insider's forum and then they cut off communication with me by pushing it off on their insurance carrier. Still no solution. read more
