I am mold sensitive and I sneezed and coughed whole time in room. Place is a few years old is why we stayed here because it was one of two newerish ones in town. The breakfast was not good, we've stayed a lot of hotels and this breakfast was the worst. They ran out of food each day and didn't refill containers too. This is for the 5410 Milan Road location. It's my understanding that this is a brand new build. Located adjacent a Walmart, it's convenient to run to to pick up things you forgot to pack. The hotel hits: 1- Water pressure is great. I was on the 5th floor and the pressure was awesome. 2- toilet flush is great. No worries about clogging. Misses: 1- housekeeping... almost non-existent. They do come in and make the bed and provide clean towels, but that's it. No vacuuming or anything else. 2- they provide a big bottle of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, which is great (I guess this can be listed as a hit) but the placement on the shower wall is in an awkward location. It impedes your movement in the shower. 3- be prepared to live out of your suitcase because there isn't any drawer space to speak of. There is one "dresser" with 2 very shallow drawers. No rom to unpack for a stay of any significance. read more

What a disappointment I'm a breakfast person and the breakfast sure sounded good but nothing like getting ripped off on an incorporated expense closing breakfast down for no reason over a half hour sooner than I was told and the sign said the same thing that was on the wall by the breakfast area, they did not even have fruit. This place by the looks of it should have been an economy inn! So for an update things have gotten even worse this place is trying to charge us for an extra day for no reason and the entire time the lady we spoke to until they realized it was an error on their part worded the entire conversation like it was an error on out part. Not impressed, not even satisfied really. Will only come back as a last resort. Upon check in the desk lady asked if I was here for business or pleasure. I thought she was just making conversation. Then, when I told her I was here on business, she asked what I was doing. Resisting the urge to tell her to mind her own business and butt out of mine, I simply told her my company's name. Not sure if that's something they have to ask but I sure hope not. The elevator was ridiculously slow, the stairs would have been much faster. The room/bedding didn't smell fresh, it smelled musty - like a teenage boy's room. It appears clean though, and modern. No trash can in the bathroom. Furniture is crap. Besides the bed or the office chair, the seating option for relaxing is this uncomfortable arm chair. The TV also sits below the bed, no laying down with blankets if you want to actually see the screen. Can hardly wait to sleep in the bed and try the breakfast. read more

Omg I absolutely loved my stay here! The staff was amazing! The rooms were so nice! I had an amazing time! On my last day I woke up freaking out because I couldn't find a ride to the airport! However this amazing women named Icil at the front desk saved me and helped me find a ride at 3 am!!! She made a bunch of phonecalls and ended up getting me a limo!!! This place served us well for what we needed. We went to Cedar Point's Halloweekend event, but with small children and the fact I wasn't feeling so well, we made it here before dinnertime. The primary reasons we booked here was the location in relation to Cedar Point and the indoor pool for our children. Extra bonuses included plenty of dinner options within 2 miles and the included breakfast for the whole family the next morning. Our children enjoyed the pool immensely, though my only complaint was that there was no hot tub. I must admit, I always check for one when we go to a hotel with a pool. I am finding this is not standard among this brand of hotels. The room was clean and spacious and the TV was easy to use for the short time we wanted to use it. Everything was comfortable. The breakfast was good as expected and all of us found plenty to eat. I imagine we would stay at a Fairfield again, whether it be Sandusky or any other city we travel to. read more

Don't go here if you're bringing a boat that needs batteries charged overnight. They walk the property at night and literally unplug everyone's boat. Confronted the front desk, and they couldn't care less. I had to get off the lake early because of dead batteries. I've stayed here for the Codemash conference in 2015 and 2018. I got experience a regular room and a suite. Rooms are fine and the hot breakfast is fine. The location is close to Kalahari and right across the street from a local restaurant, Danny Boy's. The staff is friendly and helpful when I need something. The drain in the shower drains really sloooowly and you have to hold down the flush handle for a while. Pillows are pretty flat so you'll have to use a couple. Our first floor room had a high ceiling which was nice but there weren't any accessible, overall lights. It was pretty dim. I had to re log into the wi-fi network every single time my phone unlocked so that was quite annoying. A plus here--the cookies! There are always cookies available at the front desk and some citrus infused ice water. Those are nice touches. read more

Wow, I was shocked to learn that the only Marriott option in Sandusky was the Fairfield. I'm trying Maintain my elite status so I opted to stay off property from the conference I was attending and this Property was my only option. The front desk staff was friendly although they did forget to provide me with my elite gift at check in and it wasn't until I was checking out and saw them hand one to someone else that I realized that I had missed out. That surprised me as I had been waited on by 2 staff members. Upon check in I inquired about good local food and the suggestion was for Danny Boys across the street, which I knew wasn't good. I would suggest they prepare a list of local restaurant suggestions for business travelers and try to stay away from the chains. The room was clean and while dated a bit met my needs. for a 2 night stay. I only had breakfast here one morning and it was a typical moderate offering Fairfield breakfast consisting of eggs, a meat option, breads, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt. Something for everyone yet not extravagant. In all for a Fairfield It was fine. read more

The front desk said they'd handle it. Front desk told me the person responsible was let go. Then I was pushed to their insurance company. Who basically after 2 months said tough luck. The big selling point to this hotel was its closeness to Cedar Point. It's about 15-20 minutes away depending on traffic. We were able to checkin pretty early with no extra charge which was nice. We needed a break from Cedar Point around mid afternoon and to be able to come relax in our hotel room was amazing. The staff was also really nice. Also if you download the app they have the option to check-in there and use your phone as a key. It was a little dated like others has said, but worked fine for the one night we were there. The bed was comfortable, but not as comfy as some other Marriott hotels I've stayed in. The breakfast had mini waffles, eggs, turkey sausage, Canadian bacon, cereal, yogurt and a few other things. It was your basic breakfast, but all of it good. Overall our stay was good especially for the price we paid. If we were just coming for a day or 2 I would definitely consider staying here again. If we were coming for much longer we might consider some place else. read more

Stayed here three nights with my son, another mom and her son for a baseball tournament at Sports Force. The hotel was located 10 minutes away. It's also close to Cedar Point & Put-In-Bay. Our room was very clean, no complaints and we are all picky. The breakfast was fine, staff was continuously replenishing and cleaning up. Leah at the front desk was wonderful, as was the rest of the staff we encountered. It is a little noisy from the road, but the hotel itself was quiet and nice. read more

There's not much in Sandusky besides that amusement park..Cedar Point, but if for whatever reason you're in Sandusky and need a place to crash try the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. It's a very small hotel (only 2 floors), newly renovated, hard beds, lots of pillows, no restaurant inside, but free normal breakfast. Over all.. not a bad place for your buck! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! I cancelled my reservation at Kalahari because there were too many people and with COVID, I wasn't comfortable. My kids still wanted to stay so we settled for this hotel. I was greeted at the desk by Cheyenne, as I explained my hesitation with hotels + COVID. She assured me the cleaning staff had done a deep cleanse over the weekend due to a sports team staying there. We checked into the room close to 7pm. I wiped down ALL the counters and door knobs. My son got into the shower where we discovered sticky red residue on the shower handle. At that point, we looked around the bathroom and noticed the toilets had not been cleaned either. We were all uncomfortable and disgusted and decided to leave within an hour of being there. I checked out of the room and was told I would still be charged but I could contact the GM. Spoke to the GM Samantha S. and she stated she would refund my stay because she understood, 2 days later she denied my refund stating we "used too much because the trash can was full and a towel was on the bed from my 7 year old"! How professional is that to say what you are going to do and renege on your promise? But what should I expect when absolutely no one was staying in the hotel besides us-they needed the money! I will definitely be escalating the issue. I would definitely recommend another hotel if you can help it... read more

When my Daughter was awakened by bugs (yes plural) crawling on her face and arms around 2 am, we left. There was no "manager" there when we left so I returned the next AM after spending more money on another hotel. After reporting to manager Connie at the desk when we returned for refund in the AM she was "so sorry" and promised a "full refund" That would be in my account in a few business days. she assured me the bugs although big and creepy were a nuisance but nothing that they could "control" because they "come through the walls" and "they are common this time of year" (shield bugs AKA stink bugs) weeks later I called to inquire they said that the computers were "slow due to merge" short story; I never got a refund. After months of trying and several tried and failed "tickets" placed my Marriott "customer care" (which is a joke, they really don't care). Marriott rewards reports Connie is the only one who can award credit for the stay. Connie has no "recollection" of us at all, but she offered a few thousand points as a "courtesy for a bad experience". PS if your expecting creamer for the coffee? Probably should bring your own... unless you like warm semi curdled creamer and cups too there were bugs on those as well. Marriott was our "go too" not anymore... having BUGS crawling all over the hotel is not OK, no one should have to pay for that mess... although I understand you would probably have to refund hundreds... my Daughter left crying, and petrified. Now I am furious. Not the "fun family vacation" I imagined. this place is a run down dump, "managed" by Juno from Beetlejuice The desk crew did recommend a wonderful little place for breakfast though that had great food and amazing service. read more

The Staff was very friendly! They went out of their way to get My coworker and I a fridge... The gym was small but got the job done, it had dumbbells and a couple cardio machines but dumbbells are a bonus that some hotels still lack... Give me a banana free wireless and a down pillow and I am happy, they did more then that they had hard boiled eggs, oatmeal and even a waffle iron what more could you ask for? A pretty no frills hotel but a perfect spot to spend the night when you are on the road for work or play... read more

Stayed here 2 nights while attending a function for a family member at the near by Kalahari resort convention center. The hotel wasn't my choice so here goes. Wasn't a bad place but I would have perfered a bigger that twin bed I am 6' 2" and so I kept finding my feet hanging off the bed. The breakfast was very good with hard boiled eggs, waffles, microwaveable breakfast sandwiches, and your standard continental on top of all that. The juices at breakfast were a problem though with a strange texture to the ok day one and on day 2 flavor was jus off. Otherwise grade A breakfast. The hotel had a pool which with 2 kids in tow a plus. They were out of towels but the dance convention in town and a few guests staying there can't expect perfection. So the only 2 complaints I had were really with the booking, bigger queen beds and next time if I'm going to the Kalahari just book there. read more

I stayed with a group of friends for an event from 06/04/15 - 06/07/15 for an event and it was one of the most stressful hotel experiences for us ever. Its hard to say where things started to go down hill but I would say it when we initially checked in and the hotel was not honest about the amount of money that would be needed for our stay. We called several times, in which I asked clearly and specifically the total amount needed to check in, and even asked a direct "is that with tax and occupancy fee?" when in reality, the price given over the phone was only the base amount of the stay, not including tax, occupancy fee, or security deposit. When we arrived they would not answer directly about needing the security deposit. I asked the desk SEVERAL TIMES "are you withholding a deposit" and the woman I believe to be the manager spoke slowly and loudly as if I perhaps could not understand simple English "The amount needed for check in is X amount". Yes, I understood that part. What I wanted to know was how much of this was for the security deposit to be refunded after our stay. It was not answered until day two when my friends were reviewing the bill, adding up the numbers, and confused as to why the hotel charged us an extra $70. It seemed most of the staff was new as well because on the second day, they recharged several of the cards when we went back down to ask about the extra $70. The extra $70 I assumed was a security deposit because that is pretty standard with hotels, but this was never made clear and the question was weirdly avoided when I directly asked several times the first day if they were withholding a security deposit. Alongside that, and I think this is the most important fact to mention is that if your staying with a large group your pretty much going to have to visit the front desk any time you want to get into the room. For over 170$ a night for a tiny, bottom tier hotel like this one, I would at least think they have the money to put some technology into their room keys. The hyatt in Columbus Ohio is only 120$ and they are much nicer, much larger, and have a much friendlier staff. Our room keys basically deactivated the moment we got them. You could not have them by your cell phone, by your credit cards, in the same pocket as your wallet, could not set next to pretty much anything magnetized or even have it in the same purse as anything magnetized, and when you get ONE new one and use it in the door, it deactivates the whole set, so everyone has to get a new one and its a vicious, stressful cycle. Especially if your group wants to go off and do separate things, no one can because no one is going to be able to get into the room later. Every time we wanted in the room we had to get new keys. What a waste. The staff was not friendly or helpful with figuring out charges on our cards. They joked around while messing up, and misinforming us on what was happening. We had to wait an hour and a half on the third night at 2 am to speak with someone who knew what they were doing. Would absolutely not stay there again and if this is the kind of staff the Marriott hires we probably wont be choosing Marriott again either. It was a waste of money and I'm upset I paid $170 a night to be treated poorly and not even have access to the room I paid for (key card issues). read more

The two ladies working the front desk were outright rude to fellow employees in front of guests. Very unprofessional. In addition we were unable to even get so much as a sip of coffee in the morning. So I booked this hotel because I had to travel for business. The reason I chose it was because it had a fitness center. What a joke. One treadmill, one elliptical and some Dumbbells stuck in a tiny room as an afterthought do not make a fitness center. One person in this closet is cramped so there is never a time the space can be utilized. The bathroom had mold in the shower. The size of the rom was okay, but you can hear every sound from within and from outside. The last negative is the coffee. Not very palatable. Other hotels I have stayed in keep fresh coffee available at all times and have a large selection of flavored creamers, etc. Not this hotel. I will not choose this hotel again when I travel back to this area. Very disappointed guest. read more

Staying here for a tournament for lacrosse, trying to check in 20 minutes early and the front desk manager is refusing to allow anyone to check in. Claiming he doesn't have the "house keeping boards" back yet. There clearly are rooms available since we walked the entire hotel and 90% of the rooms were ready including ours, since he had already given us our room number, but still refusing anyone to check in. Not mention we had already paid for night in advance, our rooms should have been ready to go. When there are numerous people here for a tournament and you know this in advance one would think that you would be as accommodating as possible. We weren't asking to check in 3 hours early. But he was not willing to find out from housekeeping of our room was ready or anything. Just a sorry bout your luck attitude. They definitely need a lesson on customer service at this hotel!! read more

After a long day at Cedar Point my friend and I realized we were not up for the 2 hour drive back to Michigan. The hotel clerk was super friendly and accommodating, the room was super clean. Beds very comfortable. For those of you that check the bedbug registry like me (I'm obsessed), there's an old review on there from one person who said they have them. Well I checked thoroughly and they did NOT. When we left in the am I saw every area of the hotel being cleaned by staff and beds all being stripped. Would definitely stay again. read more

My family and I were here for one night on 8/22/2014. The decor was nice, bathroom a little small compared to the Fairfield in Ontario. They didn't have any lemon water or fresh baked cookies in the lobby which we are use to getting during our stay at other Fairfield Inns. The room we had was 229 and the bed closest to the door was HORRIBLE. I didn't get good sleep all night so I was very tired the next day at the amusement park.The mattress really needs to be updated. The bed sinks in and causes your back to hurt. read more
