I've always wanted to stay here. It was amazing. The beds were sooo comfortable. The pillows were fluffy. The views were amazing from every angle and direction you looked. 2 pools and hot tubs. Indoor pool and outdoor pool. Game room. 4 different places to eat. A few bars. Beach access and activities. I would love to go back for a day and not even go to the park but just enjoy the hotel and its amenities. I do want to point out one thing that was kinda frustrating for us. The guy who checked us in told us that the pools closed at 9 but the hot tubs closed at 11. That didn't make sense to us. So we left the park early so our kids could play in the pool just to find out they're both open until 11. Both pools and both the pools and hot tubs. That caused us to take time away from the park when we didn't actually need to. The park closed at 10. It didn't make sense for the pool to close at 9. It also didn't make sense that the hot tubs which are in the same area would be open until 11 but not the pools. While we only stayed 1 day here, we spent Saturday evening-Monday afternoon at the park. Had we only been there for one day, and been given wrong information about the pool times and left the park early for the pool when we didn't need to, I would have been more frustrated. Hotel Breakers - Waxing nostalgia turning to disappointing modernity. My wife and I have been visiting Hotel Breakers annually now for about ten years, vacationing with her parents, sister, and all of our kids. My wife and her family have been visiting since she was a child. For them the return visits continue to be largely motivated by memories and tradition. I have the benefit of a more objective look at the resort, but even they agree on the following points. Reservations / Check-In : My mother-in-law calls to reserve rooms the first available day they can be many months in advance. Every year she requests three adjoining rooms in the same location of the resort, even supplying specific room numbers as an example. Ever year the results vary. Sometimes we end up on different floors or the wrong area. One year one of the rooms wasn't reserved at all. This year we were in the requested area, two rooms adjoining and then one down the hall. I've never had anything close to this situation occur at any other resort and it continues to boggle my mind how this ask is never accomplished without incident. We were once told the reservation team was not part of the resort but either a fully siloed team off-property or maybe even a separate entity entirely. I am not sure if that is still the case but the process of reservations has been around a long time and is not as complicated as it seems to be made here. The front desk / check-in team has always seemed unprepared and without much empathy. The Pools / Splash Pad : The pools this most recent trip were the dirtiest we have ever experienced. An incredible amount of bugs and debris were in the water and the filters did not seem to be turned on our whole trip. When we asked a life guard / attendant at one of the pools she let us know it was "her first day" and was unsure of what to do. There are elements at the splash pad that I don't think have ever worked in the near-decade I have been visiting the resort. The liner of the pools is an extremely coarse material that I don't think has ever changed and I have never experienced anywhere else. The quality of maintenance and upkeep in the pool areas was summarized this trip by a food tray leaning against a trash can for the entirety of our weekend. The Rooms : Less egregious than the first two points, I don't believe I have noticed much of an upgrades to the rooms here in our years visiting. Furniture and walls displays wears and tears and everything feels clean...enough. Our patio set was pretty filthy this past visit and it was disappointing to have to clean it ourselves compared to the room rate. Speaking of room rate, the prices at this resort feel tough to justify based on the experience on the property. What you are paying for is proximity to Cedar Point and Shores, as well as the beach. The proximity is a great amenity (especially with kids) and we would find it hard to do the trip without it. Much like Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores, everything appears to have taken a budget cut since the merger with Six Flags. I would love to see the Hotel Breakers put some emphasis on returning staff service levels to their former high levels, put money and effort into maintenance and upkeep, and justify the high room rates by offering more than just proximity to attractions. The Breakers is a historic and beautiful resort that deserves to meet the expectations of those who visit it. read more

The hibachi place is amazing, the customer service was decent, only issue with customer service was that they forgot to give me blankets and instead made me leave room for them. The couch that extends into a bed was not a good experience, the first night I had to prop up a leg to extend the bed because it was broken, the good news is that Hotel Breakers Maintenance fixed it while I was gone. But, can someone please explain why housekeeping was cleaning the room while I was gone? I came back to the room and the door was slightly open, housekeeper opened the door and said to give him 5 minutes. The amusement park and waterpark are great, but that is their main attractions. The indoor pool at Hotel Breakers has way too much chlorine, and I can barely breathe there. The outdoor pool and hot tub is the go if you want to breathe. The bathroom wasn't cleaned. Grime everywhere in the shower, I saw grime actively dripping down when I was showering. Overall, decent place. Good food, horrible bathroom, decent pools, connected to great areas. read more

High cost, under expectations... The location and proximity to Cedar Point are really the only major positives of this hotel, along with the Tomo Hibachi restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the room had a noticeable musty feel/smell and didn't feel as clean or fresh as we expected with very uncomfortable beds. It also seems like everything comes at an additional cost--even something as simple as a late checkout. Also very weird that there were no coffee makers in the rooms and a big line at Starbucks every morning for yet another charge... We tried another restaurant on-site later one evening, and despite it not being busy, the service was very poor and the food was highly priced and average at best (fridays). For the price you pay to stay here, we expected a much better overall experience. The convenience is great, but beyond the location, we were disappointed. read more

The view of the room was beautiful and the location to Cedar Point is top notch. It was so easy to walk to and from the park and a great perk to have early entry. My teenage kids were able to go back-and-forth at the side entrance as they pleased. It's literally across the parking lot. The location is what you are paying for here. The 2 outdoor pools and hot tubs were nice and despite the mosquitos in the evening. Prepare to be swarmed! The room is definitely dated. There were brown finger and dirt marks around the door knobs and light switches and everything felt sticky. The beds were not soft. They felt like I was sleeping on a hard piece of granite and the room smelled like mildew. The bug carcasses on the railing of the screened in patio were gross, but the view was amazing. We used the fold out couch and found one of the cushions had been turned over to hide what resembled crusty cheez whiz. There was no coffee maker in the room, but I had read reviews so we brought our own Keurig and breakfast items. The room did have an old mini fridge and microwave. There was a tiny bar sink and lots of sticky, dated cupboards for storage. We ate at the TGIF restaurant in the hotel and the menu is definitely limited and overpriced. There was only one waiter for the entire bar area. The food came out slowly at different times, but it was decent bar food. The hotel does not seem like it is being kept up. The hotel lobby bathroom was dirty and I almost slipped on the floor multiple times because of a weird residue on the floor. read more

We originally had reservations at sawmill creek. I received a call the day before the trip to change hotels to the breakers. I had never been here before so was oblivious to where anything was located. Pleasantly surprised we were 9 miles from the park with Sawmill Creek and at breakers were happily walking across the parking lot for our time. We have 2 service dogs and would have been concerned leaving them that far away from us and then driving back and forth checking on them. I would suggest Hotel Breakers. I would have liked to be on the main level of the hotel but was on 6th floor over overlooking the beach!! So I'm not complaining there as well. read more

Before any negatives, I just want to say it's all worth it for the access to the park and great views the lakeside rooms offer. To be able to come and go during your trip to cedar point is priceless. That said, it's time for a refresh on the room. Ours was very worn and only moderately clean. The carpet had stains and did not look vacuumed. Typical mildew caulk in the bathroom tub. No coffee maker wtf??? They also had to scrounge up towels, as they forgot. We had to ask for extra soap, since we were provided with one small bar for three days, and small shampoo/conditioner bottles. Everything is VERY basic in the actual rooms. Expect nearly motel 6 offerings. The resort amenities were great, but they needed a lot more cleanup and trash pickup overnights. That said... we'll be back. The only reason to stay here is for the location. The park is right next door to the hotel. The mayflies are horrible. If your car is white it will be covered the next morning, plus they smell like sewers! The restaurants are average, it's nice to have a Starbucks though. TGI Fridays was pretty good and breakfast restaurant could not accommodate allergies so we ate at Starbucks. Another thing about the restaurants worth noting is there is very few healthy options. TGI Fridays has a chicken breast and a couple other options and Starbucks only has the turkey bacon, egg white and cheese sandwich. The pool is nice and the hot tub was nice and big. The pool didn't have any towels! You had to bring towels from your room to the pool The beach was nice to have too. The fitness center was the size of a bathroom stall - not joking. There was one cardio machine and very few weights. For a hotel of that size (or any size) it was awful. 3 people MAX could work out in their (if they wanted to use the very little equipment). This gym is UNUSABLE. Overall this is a big motel. Old rooms, bad facilities, and a great location. Cedar Point could do so much better, just look at Epic Universe's Helios hotel! read more

The staff is nice. but there is usually sports tournaments happening a lot so the halls are usually loud during the day but that's not the hotel fault. I didn't actually stay here on my most recent visit to Cedar Point but did stop in a few of the restaurants inside, which you are allowed to do even if you're not staying in the hotel. I have stayed here in the past however and it's always been a decent experience although pretty expensive, but the convenience of being on the peninsula (especially if you can't drive like me) does make it worth it. Just a fair warning, they don't do daily housekeeping here like most hotels do, but the rooms have always been clean at least when we've checked in. read more

If you want the closest and easiest access to the Cedar Point and Cedar Shores parks, most definitely stay at Hotel Breakers. Just know that this comes at a premium rate, just like staying at The Grand Californian when visiting Disneyland. For 6 days and 5 nights in June 2025, it was a total of ~$8,200. This was for a 2 bed suite, and two adjoining rooms, each with 2 beds - 3 rooms in total. This also included 2 tickets for Cedar Point with early access and the drink pass (aka "Ride and Refresh Ticket Package). There were 7 in our group. THE GOOD: As stated, proximity. Access to a great stretch of beach. We found the beds to be very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Had some great sleep after long park days. The refrigerator worked well, kept my Yuengling Lager nice a cold which was also nice after those long park days. The staff kept us well stocked with towels. The patios in the back of the hotel that lead to the beach are really nice. We enjoyed getting cozy next to the large fire pits. The boardwalk is amazing to walk down at sunset. JUST OK: The bathrooms were sort of cramped, dingy. Definitely showing their age. The A/C worked fine. I would have liked my room just a bit cooler, but the unit struggled to keep it 70F. The patio from our suite was screened in, but screen and crevices were packed with dead bugs. I know we were in Ohio near a lake, but it was still gross. Much of the staff was new and from out of the country. There were plenty of instances of language barriers, poor communication, and lack of knowledge. I think this sort of work experience is fantastic, but I am also spending tons of money and shouldn't have to figure out how to meld my English with Spanish, Japanese, Tagalog, etc. THE BAD: There was no hand soap, shampoo, body wash, etc in the rooms. We had to drive into town to get some of these. There Whether the staff would decide to make the bed was a coin flip. The ambiance and aesthetic of the hotel is dated and not in a fun, nostalgic or sentimental way. Just sort of old looking, almost dreary. The fitness center is clearly an afterthought. Not cleaned or cared for at all. The floor was covered with dirt/sand. No free weights. No towels. No water. No music. There is a TV, but no remote (that I could find). No hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes. Really disappointing, because, yes, I am one of those weird people that enjoys a good workout or two even on vacation. I would absolutely stay here again just for the proximity, but I have also absolutely spent this same amount of money on much better hotels and hotel experiences. read more

The nicest of the park resorts, Hotels Breakers was a bit of a disappointment. Though they boast of local history, making "history" the hotels entire identity has left the hotel looking desperate for remodeling. The guest service member that checked us in said "if you hear scratching at night, it might be the mice or it might be the ghost.", and while that's hilarious, it's also pretty gross. At a side entrance near the parking lot, mayflies gathered making it an adventure to make it in and out of the door, our room smelled musty and of mildew and the dated bathrooms had brown stains to welcome us - the walls, the doors, and the bathtub alike. That being said, our room for the night at a popular amusement park was less than $300, the staff was friendly, and the views of the beach were great. So expensive here. It is hard to want to spend the money when there are other options that have better pools, like the places with waterparks. The pros are being close to CP so you can get early access and walk in from the hotel. The discount tickets when you stay on property. The restaurants. I love the Japanese steak house the most here. It is our favorite and will come here as often as we can. They are hilarious, give you tons of great tasting food, and are a great value for a theme park. The theming. I love the décor and furniture here. It is a great place to relax. The bars are great. They have a good gift shop. They have Starbucks coffee. The history, just look at the walls and it tells a story. The cons, the price is astronomical here. It is more worth staying at Castaway Bay instead and just drive. It is sometimes hard to make a reservation, since it is limited in the time it is open. So, it is hard to find a good non-rainy weekend to come because you need to plan so far in advance. read more

Our family has been visiting Cedar Point amusement park over the last 25 years, and started staying at the Breakers to be on site ... and it has routinely been a good experience. The Breakers is one of two hotels on the property, and when you stay at either it is just a walk in the park to get to the amusement area or the water park. Very convenient. This visit for us marked our return to Cedar Point after about 10 years away ... so we were due for a review. The Breakers is their lux hotel for park guests. It is a bit pricey, but you get to stay right on the waterfront of Lake Erie, and directly next to the boardwalk that spans the entire hotel all the way down to the entrance to the amusement park. You are right there were all the action is, most of the restaurants are, and nearby the parasailing and jet skiing business. So if you stay here, you park your car and never have to use it ... you can walk to most things, and they have a shuttle available for those that want to use it. Since it had been 10 years since we were here, we did see some changes. They now have cabanas on the waterfront that they rent out for a half day ... your choice as to 10 am to 4 pm or the night shift to 11 pm ... a neat addition for families. The interior of the Breakers seems to have aged a bit ... maybe its because we were late in the season, but furnishings seemed a bit old and run down ... not greatly so, but just enough to show a need for some TLC. The staff was routinely very nice ... they still have the program of bringing in foreign students for the summer work, and they were all nice and accommodating. The hotel restaurants remain a huge convenience, whether its breakfast at Perkins or dinner at Tomo or Starbucks you are looking for. In sum, we will return again as this is a classic amusement park ... especially if you love roller coasters ... and we'll stay at the Breakers. For us, we are now coming with the next generation. Here's hoping management does a bit of updating and upkeep in the off season, to keep the Breakers shipshape. read more

We had a wonderful stay here and can't wait to go back again. The staff was so friendly and our beds were way too comfortable. I like that they have everything nearby so we didn't even have to move the car over the three days there. My only complaint would be the available (or not available) parking. We had to drive in circles for a while hoping for someone to leave. I didn't want to leave to the store fearing I'd find no spot and unfortunately the vending machines are awful expensive. $5.50 for a bottle of cherry coke. Yikes! I'll be better prepared next visit. My teenage daughter and I loved the beach and games they had available. ( corn hole, volleyball and connect four to name a few). The restaurants were delicious. Very convenient- very short walk to the park. I was very disappointed in the room though. It smelled musty. Luckily I googled it ahead of time and knew there was no coffee pot so we brought ours. It wasn't very clean. There was a giant bug smashed with guts on the wall. The floor was dirty and someone left a piece of a fingernail on the desk. The room is VERY basic. Plain Jane. The shampoo and body washes were all different companies and very random. The room is Very plain, beds were not comfy and pillows were hard. I was expecting so much more for the cost. I pay the same amount for our Disney hotels we stay at and I guess I was expecting something similar. I would stay again...just for the convenience. read more

The Good and The Bad - Breakers Hotel We arrived at 4pm for a 4pm check in time. The line was winding around the lobby and our room wasn't ready until 6pm. This is not a cheap roadside hotel. We paid $800+ for 2 nights not including park passes. Why aren't the rooms ready on time? We have less than 48 hours to enjoy the amenities and amusement park and I think they owe us for the 2 hours that we missed due to their inability to properly manage this hotel. A positive: free parking. Once we got to our room it was fine... nothing spectacular but adequate. The entire outdoor area could use some TLC. Light fixtures were dirty, patios needed a wash etc. The swimming pool was very buggy and needed skimming, which eventually happened, but not before the pool opened for the day. One of the elevators in our wing didn't work and there were often long lines for the elevators. The kids loved the early park entrance and convenient location to Cedar Point. Everything within the hotel was extremely overpriced, which is sort of to be expected but it seemed more than necessary. The location is perfect for Cedar Point goers and we did enjoy the beach and relaxing on the pool decks (once we wiped bird droppings off of the chairs). Lake Erie was surprisingly shallow and warm here and there were lots of people enjoying that area which was nice to see. I don't think I'd stay here again, unfortunately. I had high hopes, but the price per night was a bit of a splurge considering it was just one stop on a road trip. Now, you factor in a weekend night in the summer and there's hundreds of local teens coming in and out of the hotel, knocking down signs, making noises, using the pool "only for hotel guests", etc... this was actually a terrible stay. We stayed at Hotel Breakers on a long Holiday weekend for the 4th and had an absolute blast. Having said that there are lots of pros and cons of this hotel that you may want to be aware of prior to booking or arrival upon your stay. I'll start with the cons so we can end on a positive note. The rooms are very basic for the price. No coffee machines, comforters on the beds, and they are tiny! They do not clean the rooms throughout your stay. If you would like your trash taken out or additional towels, you have to call to request it and the front desk staff sort of gave me a bit of an attitude when I remarked that I found it unusual. We ended up just putting out trash out and requesting new liners daily and doing the same with the towels. The other thing that was weird was they have staff monitoring the indoor pool every hour or so to make sure they have wristbands on, that we weren't given during check in. We were temporarily kicked out, and not in a friendly way, until we got our wristbands on, despite being the only ones in the pool at that time. It was just super odd to me that they have enough staff to monitor wristbands, but not enough staff to clean the rooms. We also found a corn kernel on the floor of our room that our toddler could have choked on if I had not found it first. Having said that, the pros do make up for these issues and we will be bringing a small vacuum, cleaning wipes, more towels, and a coffee machine when we stay next time. The pros. The hotel is right on the beach which is absolutely stunning. They have multiple pools and restaurants and there honestly is no reason to leave the hotel the entire trip. The kids pool was perfect for our toddler, and they even have a semi heated indoor pool which came in handy on the one rainy day we were there. The proximity to the park is amazing, although our son is too young so we didn't go, but the view from the beach gives it a very Coney Island feel. The outside of the hotel itself is beautiful and it has an amazing history to it. They have a band playing on the beach as well as a Tofts ice cream parlor and arcade. It's definitely the type of place you pay for the experience and convenience and we will definitely be back! read more

My girlfriend and I are season pass holders for Cedar Point and decided to splurge on a hotel. We chose Hotel Breakers for the numerous amenities and closeness to the park. Unfortunately this was our first and likely last time staying at this hotel. We booked a room with a king bed and were surprised by how tiny the room was. After we checked in, we went to the gift shop to pick up our fast lane wristbands. The girls at the counter were very sweet, but the girl who put my wristband on seemed nervous to even touch me (it seemed like her first time applying it?) and she put it on so loose that I could slip my hand out. She was very apologetic and told me that I could adjust it on my own. This was not possible to do without ripping the wristband. When we got to the park we had to go to a different gift shop so I could get the wristband replaced. This took about 30 minutes out of our time in the park. I would've been happy to put the wristband on myself if given the option. When we returned from the park on Friday there were flies in our room yet no way to open the window. We put the do not disturb sign on our door yet housekeeping knocked on our door TWICE during the early morning hours and woke us up. Whats the point of the sign if it's going to be completely ignored? Every single garbage can on the beach was overflowing with trash when we went Saturday morning. We decided to check out the pools only to find all three of them, including the indoor pool, filled with dead bugs. I mean entire surface of the water was a sheet of dead flies. I understand that being on the lake means flies but why not skim the pool before opening it up to guests? I've never seen anything like it. We paid over $300 for the night even with our season pass discount. At that price, we could've gone to Kalahari and gotten a better room as well as access to pools that aren't completely filled with bugs. I am in the process of requesting at least a partial refund. The icing on the cake of our disgusting trip? A dirty diaper next to my car. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I've stayed here many times since 2002 and this place was definitely a let down this time. It's used to be the place to stay. It used to be clean and refreshed looking every year. This year it was dirty and looked like nothing has been refreshed for a while. Room was dumpy and everything looked old. Dust was covered in ceiling fan in the bathroom. Room didn't feel cleaned. Bathtub had hair in it. The TGI Fridays was smelly and food was below average. Silverware was dirty. Bathrooms in TGI Fridays was nasty! I went to the front desk many times and only one girl had customer service skills. My kids had blast at the watermark and amusement park which seemed updated and clean. I wouldn't stay here again unless it gets updated. Hotel could use a new restaurant and some type of quick sandwich place. The kiddy pool looked dumpy and dirty. I get there will be sand in the pool from the beach but it just looks grimy. It needs a good scrub down. Main pools were dirty with hair and debris floating around. read more

This hotel is extremely convenient when visiting Cedar Point. Two entrances are within walking distance to the park, making it super easy. The room was nice, had friendly staff and no issues. Breakers also has a few restaurants inside, which really helps after a long day of rides (and terrible food). They also have a great ice cream shop and The Sand Bar where you can get a nice drink and some light food. We've been here a few times and will continue to come back. Give it a try! read more

Just got into our rooms. Paid a small fortune for two adjoining rooms for 10 of us. Supplies were beyond inadequate so had to get towels, washcloths as well as soap and shampoo (only had enough for 6). Mold is everywhere along wall and floor corners (see pictures). So frustrated with the entire check in and get to the room and it's not even close to worth what I paid. Worst of all, while putting away supplies I'd just gotten from housekeeping, I found blood on the bathroom door. That is a serious health concern. When I spoke with front desk, they said both housekeeping and a supervisor must have missed it. This place is very, very sad. read more

save yourself the 400 bucks and go somewhere else. The first problem was thr manager called me the day of our reservation and said that they had to move our room from the pool accessible room to the second floor. they assured me it was the exact same kind of room just not pool side. I agreed thinking I was getting the exact same room, a handicap accessible room ( I am have had an amputation and it's not at easy for me to walk around. we I received my room it was NoT accessible. When I told the from desk they just said that all the accessible rooms had been reserved. they did not give me a discount and did not seem to care. my room itself was nasty. it smelled like CURRY. and the sleeper chair had a huge piece torn out of it. there was also no coffee makers in the room and the bathroom was extremely small. I felt as if I was staying at a Days Inn and not a hotel I spent 400 + a night on. i wish I wouldn't of saved up for this. It was a huge disappointment! read more

Don't know where to start except to say this place could use a definite 'facelift' and customer service is less to be desired throughout the years. They call it a 'resort' doesn't feel like one or looks like it either. read more

I think that if you want to be close to Cedar Point this is the best place to stay, even though it is over priced. But, you cannot beat the convenience of walking on the board walk of the beach to gate right into Cedar Point. My family had tons of fun because it was the last weekend of the 150 anniversary. The hotel provided lots of entertainment,. The bar area had a live band. My 3 adult kids got into a Hula hoop contest which my son won of course. The beach had a party at night time and other activities. Me and my daughter ate at Tomo a Japanese style type restaurant. Hotel Breakers has 6 restaurants, a giftshop, Indoor and outdoor pools with hot tubes. The fact that it is right on the beach made it extra special. I thought the rooms were just okay, it felt a bit small. I could see some of the rides right from my window. Some of the rooms have beach views and they cost a little more. We spend a weekend at Hotel Breakers every September for the past 3 years and we love it! It's extremely convenient to stay at if you are visiting Cedar Point. I like that there are several sit down restaurants onsite to choose from or you can have pizza delivered. The beach is very clean with volleyball nets, music and fire pits. The rooms are spacious and light. The beds are comfortable too. We've always been able to achieve the perfect temperature in the room with the a/c. I like the little store off the lobby too. Perfect place to stop and get some ice cream for a after dinner treat! Check in can be time consuming but they have a tv with kids shows and little chairs for the kids to sit in while the adults wait in line. There is a Starbucks on site but it's always busy so be prepared to wait in line. Overall we really enjoy our time here every year. read more

The customer service was terrible.We had no sheets for up to two hours and had to wait one to even check in to the room at 5:00 PM. With the sheets we walked down to the desk waited for 30 minutes to ask then went up to our room at 10:30 at night with children to wait another hour for no response! RIDICULOUS.They had no rooms ready at 5:00 PM on a Sunday. Prices had me in a choke hold at 7.00$ for a small pink drink at starbucks! Do not plan on taking much because the only carts for luggage is the valet ones! They don't give you a choice they take you luggage. Which means you count your on pocket money to tip them. read more
