Not sure when this hotel was built but it certainly felt new. Everything was clean and in perfect condition. For platinum members they provide 500 welcome points plus a small goodie bag. Had a quick drink at the bar, which shares the same seating area as the complimentary breakfast (standard fare). Can't complain about the room which was spacious. Looked like they have a nice gym and pool but I didn't have the opportunity to use the facilities. In case their gym isn't sufficient, they have a partnership with a local gym for complimentary access - very neat benefit that I haven't seen offered at many hotels.

We used to live in Schaumburg, so we know the area well, and choose this side of town for many reasons. The outside was well lit with plenty of parking and hotel is conveniently located near 290 and 90. There are lots of food options nearby: ChicagoLand staples: Portillo's and Lou Malnati's), as well as Cane Chicken, Wildfire (my fav!), Seasons 52, Shaw's Crab House, Tokyo Pub, Uncle Julio's, and the list goes on and on! You're also within 5 mins of a Target, in case you need travel staples, as well as the Streets of Woodfield if you want an outdoor mall experience. Our fav breakfast place, Maxfield's is less than 10mins away and across the street from our fav parks. Back to the hotel: Staff were courteous and accommodating, fast and easy check in process. There is seating downstairs if you want a spot to chat or have coffee with friends. There is a restaurant/bar inside the hotel; breakfast available for $. We didn't stay for breakfast, but food we saw folks eating looked ok. I liked that this location also has a little shop in case you want some pop or junk food and don't feel like running out! The room is where I took a star off; things we noticed: bed was too lumpy (we're used to hotel beds being on firmer side) and the carpet had a stain in front of fridge (we guessed it was most likely due to the fridge being over cold--the fridge exploded one of our pops, thankfully just inside the fridge). Neither of these things would prevent us from staying again, just things we noticed.

Well, I went and got the typical scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and a bandanna. While this location offers the same breakfast items as the Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites, at this Garden Inn location, you have to pay $16.80. They had a man go around filling your coffee mug and getting your food, but again, it's the standard free breakfast items you'd find at other Hilton chains, which explains why we met up and got the items ourselves. Needless to say, the next morning, I went to a local place for breakfast and paid less than $10.00. Next, I checked in late Monday and went to Jewel Osco for work items: a case of water and snacks to keep my team focused and uplifted. Well, after returning, I found out that a water main had broken, flooding some lower-level rooms, and that the fire marshal had shut down the elevators. The manager got two staff members to help me with my grocery bags since I was on the third floor. He told me that he could book me into another hotel. Still, if anyone knows anything about the Chicagoland area, the bedbug capital of the US, it is Chicago, followed by Cleveland and Detroit. So, no, without researching, I'm not moving to another hotel. Besides, has anyone read my Embassy Suites review that mentioned black mold being painted over? By Wednesday, the elevator still wasn't working when I checked out. It was a pain bringing down my hug roller bags, computer bag, and tools, but at least I'm not bringing critters with me. The final issue was that the showerhead in the bathroom was pointed directly at the toilet, so the entire floor got soaked and became a slip hazard. Someone obviously didn't think that through! But wait, one more issue, the reading lamp didn't work; that was close to my bed. On a good note, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was clean, so three out of five stars.

The hotel entrance after the revolving doors is stunning. I went to my co-workers hotel room to drop off my gear and it was very clean. Spacious rooms and the bathroom mirror had an embedded TV. We headed to breakfast where the food was in the hallway and the dining was in the big event room where main speakers were going to be. The room where we had the presentation fit around 30 people in round tables. The AV guy came in to check if we were all tested and ready to go which was all set! In between sessions, the coffee area was packed with coffee, tea, water and soda. The only bad part, there was another conference and you had to pass through this area for the other conference and they were taking our coffee, drinks, etc. The venue finally out signs. We had a formal dinner but the staff seemed very rushed in everything. Before my co-worker was finished eating they were already asking him if he was finished and wanting dessert. I like customer service but no need to rush people. Overall, the place is great, the venue is beatiful and it was a positive experience.

I hope they replace them with a better ergonomic desk chair. The restaurant was decent, the staff working there were very friendly and welcoming. It's also close to one of my favorite korean fried chicken joints :) Definitely would stay here again and for a longer time.

We told the front desk the phone wasn't working and we needed more hangers. No one ever stopped by with the hangers or to fix the phone. The housekeeping staff also speaks no English. If you ask for more towels, you may not get any. Also, the only coffee pods in the room was decaf. Breakfast was included for us. The first morning, we got our breakfast and it was delicious. However, the breakfast area became very crowded with other wedding party guests. We never received a copy of our check. However, they charged $6 to our room as a tip which we never left. The next 2 days there was a breakfast buffet for the wedding party which included scrambled eggs with cheese, scrambled eggs with veggies, roasted potatoes, fruit, bread, coffee. It was pretty generic tasting. Also to top it off the pool was being renovated so the kids couldn't enjoy that. I also heard many of the wedding guests were charged extra on checkout. They have done an amazing job on the reno. Modern, upscale and the fit and finishes are top notch. The color scheme is calm and soothing and extremely welcoming. I was blown away walking the in the front door. Forewarning: the exterior of this place looks NOTHING like the interior! Night and day. I was nervous pulling up, not gonna lie. The rooms here are spacious, CLEAN, well stocked, CLEAN, have comfy beds, CLEAN....did I mention it was clean? The breakfast buffet is nothing short of a religious experience. Parking is plentiful and this area has lots of amenities that are easy to access. Onto the stuff that held my other 2 stars hostage: 1) the internet is slow. I mean really slow. Like walking with grandma using her walker slow. 2) the elevators here are a disaster. Slower than the internet. It takes FOREVER! If I am willing to walk 14 flights of stairs to get to my room, you know something ain't right! And I did walk them....several times. 3) the refreshment hour is a chaotic mess. One bartender, a line a mile long (at least a 20 min wait) and they do not refill the snacks. It's like cattle to a feeding trough...get there fast or you'll starve. 4) Tawnee at the front desk was rude, curt, combative and inattentive. Every other staff member I spoke to was a complete joy. Tawnee needs some customer service training and a nice massage! I would stay here again for sure. Coming in knowing what I do, I'd plan better. Y'all need to step up your game so I can make this a 5 Star!

I have stayed there personally and have had hundreds of guests stay with them since they opened and have had minimal complaints that have been resolved AND made up for with little gestures and perks. I have had my guests stay with them when they are travelling constantly and they make sure that they leave with their fix (a diet coke, a mountain dew) for their long drive or flights and they remember my love for coffee every time I come through. The rooms are not spacious and the windows do not open so you will not have fresh air. The location is wonderful. You will be close to everything. Taking two stars away because they allowed a very dangerous schizophrenic woman to attack me twice. This woman has sever mental issues and she was wandering around the hotel lobby and corridors pretending to be "The Messiah ". I kid you not! At one point this woman grabbed my Great pyrenees and pinned him down scaring both me and my puppy. The next day at Breakfast Joanna I think that's her name chased me around the kitchen area and tried to punch me so I had to hide behind one of the receptionists and she had to protect me. I should have reported it to the Schaumburg police department and I regret not doing so. The next day I checked out and instead of the hotel asking this woman to leave immediately I was told by another guest that they allowed this dangerous woman to remain longer till she found alternative housing option. Apparently she was there because her house burnt down. Still the staff here never handled it properly and I may relay this information to corporate. It is not okay to allow one guest to frighten and physically accost your other paying guests. For these reasons I'm finally sharing my experience. This hotel is not cheap. If your guests are paying well over $130 a day you should make sure that potentially dangerous people aren't allowed to frighten and physically touch your guests. These are photos of the woman who attempted to hit me during my stay.

Everyone has bad days, but when you're working in hospitality, a friendly attitude goes a long way. Even a simple smile can make guests feel appreciated. The room itself was decent. The bed was clean most importantly, no bed bugs which is always a good sign. The bathroom was updated, and I especially loved the strong water pressure. I did run into a couple of issues during my stay. I called the front desk and requested two toothbrushes and two tubes of toothpaste, but housekeeping only delivered enough for one person despite my request. It seemed like a simple miscommunication, but it was still frustrating. My biggest complaint was the window. The blinds had been closed, and I couldn't help but wonder if they were trying to hide how dirty the window was. A thorough cleaning would make a noticeable difference and allow much more natural light into the room. Overall, this was the most disappointing 4 star hotel I've stayed at.
