    Cockroaches

Cockroaches in the room, including on the windowsill and near our belongings. We were traveling with an 11-month-old baby who is crawling--completely unacceptable and unsanitary. It didn't stop there. My 7-year-old burned his finger on the waffle maker (blistered), and staff had no first aid kit or help. Breakfast area also had dirty hot water with coffee grounds. We had to leave and pay for another hotel the same day. Management said im the only person complaining at the hotel and blamed me. She wouldn't refund me but asked for a photo of the roaches so she could get a refund from the pest control company Absolutely would not stay here again. Not safe, not clean, and not handled properly.

    Simple could be better

I booked this hotel through hotels.com with good reviews written, so I suggested to give a try since we were staying in the town. The night front desk young man was by far the only good feedback I have. He was very polite and got us to our room quickly. Walking into room 214 I was rushed with a awful scent of damp carpet and just a musk of air coming from the air condition. Called the young man back to see if we could switch and he was kind to move us to room 210. The room was very simple a look of a motel 6 picture. The restroom was in a major need of a upgrade. The beds were ok. I in the other hand learned to do some more research before booking my next room.

Also there was no ice machine on the first floor, you had to go to the second floor.

I feel like this hotel is a series of minor inconveniences. Like it's technically fine, it's fairly clean, the front desk attendant was neither warm nor rude, but there were a lot of small things that were annoying. Such as the parking spots are very small, making me worried that my car was going to get dinged. There apparently is no gym onsite, or at least that's what I was told, but they did say there was a gym in town that I could get a day pass at and they would reimburse me. Also, it's great that the bathrooms were huge but inconvenient because the towels were kept on the other side of the bathroom from the shower. And the people in the room above me, stomped, and yeah that isn't the hotels fault but it was just the cherry on top ‍

Maybe a blood stain...I vote blood stain.

I travel to a lot of Marriott hotels or their affiliates not just in the USA but over the world, but never have I had the displeasure of finding what I found in the guest room I was given. And if you would like visuals I have photos. There was and just in my bed, on the comforter/blanket was what appeared to be and old blood stain, and big glob of black ink like someone exploded a pen on it and to top it off on the other side of it looked like someone's sweat stain or an old pee stain. There was cob webs in the corner of the ceiling, brown dirt stains on the ceiling itself, soap scum in the tub and built up dust and dirt in the air vent. Clearly not every room is getting the attention it deserves and although covid/staffing maybe the typical excuse. That is not an excuse for overlooking issues related to the health of others especially amidst a so called pandemic. I've seen cleaner Marriott hotels/affiliates in Mexico and Africa.

They say pool and hot tub on website and they don't have either working!!! We paid more to stay here for pool! Nope!!! Breakfast was microwaved sandwiches, oatmeal and cereals. Room had a bobby-pin and small trash on floor by bed. If they vacuumed they did not do a great job. Great staff. Very friendly. Unfortunately we stayed there for the pool and if we had any communication about pool we would have stayed somewhere else. There is also a $20/daily parking fee. That is added. What!!!! What a joke!! All the other hotels parking is free!!!!

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

Room service was good quality, appropriately priced and arrived quickly. The only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was there was no internal secondary lock on the door which made it feel a little unsafe as a solo traveler and also there were not clear instructions about how to enter the gated parking lot upon checking in. Otherwise I had a good stay and would consider visiting again just to eat at the restaurant.

The shower situation didn't help. The tub spout simultaneously pours out more water than the showerhead, so while you're trying to shower, the tub starts filling up due to a slow/clogged drain. Check-in was quick and friendly, which I appreciated. However, we were given incorrect information about the nearest EV supercharger. There are two chargers in the parking lot, but they're extremely slow. If they're occupied in the evening, expect those cars to sit there overnight because they'll just be left there. Let's call it the overnight special. UPDATE NEXT MORNING: "Lead foot" upstairs kept going well past midnight, then started up again around 6am. We were getting up anyway, but still. Lesson learned: request the top floor if you stay here. On the plus side, the continental breakfast was decent. Standard options (eggs and sausage) plus a few extras like a pancake maker, warm cinnamon rolls, and biscuits and gravy. Also nice choices for folks on the go, oatmeal packets, Chobani yogurts, hard boiled eggs, etc. Also worth noting, the Tesla destination chargers are free, which is a great perk if you can grab one. The fitness room was well equipped with treadmills, an elliptical, rowing machine, weight benches, and dumbbells. There's also a water refill station in there, which is convenient if you have a bottle with you. Would we stay here again? Sure... just on the top floor next time. 3.5 Stars.

We stayed 3 nights here for our hiking trip and the hotel looked nice on the outside. However, there were some things that could be changed 1. I also smelled weed in the lobby as well which was not pleasant. 3. Roach: YES! I saw a cockroach in my bathroom. It was a tiny one and I managed to kill it and flush it down but beware of them if you stay here. 4. Breakfast: Free breaksfast was nice but alot of my friends stomachs were not happy afterwards! Alot of their food is very mid and not the best quality. 5. Beds: The pillows were like bricks, my friend had a hard time sleeping on them. If there was one highlight, it would be that. 7. One water fountain: Finally, there was only ONE water fountain on floor three and not even on the bottom level.
