What a joke.. I'm a lifetime Hilton and Marriott member. I walked in to this establishment today without a reservation. I wanted to inquire further about amenities and other considerations including the deposit "incidentals". For the record the definition of "incidentals" should be understood further throughout the hospitality industry. Incidental fees are minor, ancillary expenses or temporary deposit holds associated with a larger transaction--most commonly encountered during travel. Upon greeting the employee at the front desk. I began inquiring further about the information that I wanted to obtain before establishing a final agreement. However he was quick to cut off my questions as if I was some inexperienced traveler. He first told me that they were "sold out of" their I guess "standard" entry level "rooms" aka lowest level option. Implying that only option "double bed suite" that was actually available was a higher rate. Which made me feel like he was suggesting that would be out of my price bracket. I had to reference the fact that I have retained lifetime statutes with Hilton and Marriott just to confirm the fact that I am well traveled and not inexperienced in the process of my inquiries. I then brought out my phone to see what rooms were available via the app. The information stated the "double bed suite" which is what he was referring to. The price was $117 (plus tax $129); or $122 (plus tax $134). I showed him what I was seeing on my end of the app. He said if you want to book the room in app, I guess that is fine but if you book now at the front desk the room is $144 (with tax). I said what? He said oh that is not with incidentals. Then he showed me some paper on a clipboard as if that they had a policy for incidentals. I said again I am well traveled and well aware that "incidentals" are supposed to listed as a separate charge on an itemized statement. I said well would you like to disclose that information to me at this point in time. He said "$150.00". I said $150.00 for a choice hotel?! With check out at 11 am?! Honestly It wasn't even about the incidentals it was the way he said it as if that price was even justifiable? Where is the rationale in the demand factor? You do realize that the room was less than $150.00 but you expect a deposit that is MORE than the price of room with taxes?! I said "thank you for your time today but I'll gladly go back to my LIFETIME STATUSES." I rather enjoy my earned 2 or 4 pm late check out time with only a $25 to $50 deposit over this level of incompetence, ANY DAY! read more

We were greeted by the front desk, I think his name was Henry. He was so kind and polite and helpful! The hotel itself looks nice inside. The showers could use a little updating and add a fan in there- I think it's odd when bathrooms don't have fans. The beds were comfy enough and our stay included free breakfast. There is a make your own waffles station, cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, eggs and tater tots. Hard boiled eggs in the fridge and yogurt. Apple juice, oj, and coffee - the coffee needs some revamping. It has no taste. They also have a little store that has goodies in it like chips, candy and ice cream..etc that you can charge to your room. read more

Surprised about the star rating. This place is clean, well run, updated rooms with fridge, microwave, coffee maker. It's well lit and the service is excellent. Hands down one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I booked through AAA, showed up, and Comfort Suites flat-out lied, claiming they "don't use AAA" and that my reservation didn't exist. Total scam. They tried to bully me into canceling and rebooking with them at a higher price -- and to top it off, they wanted to downgrade me from a King bed to a Queen, because that was "all they had left." After wasting over an hour on the phone battling with AAA customer service, they finally admitted the truth: THEY overbooked. And yet the smug front desk clerk still had the audacity to say, "I know what I'm doing, I don't overbook" -- as if we were the ones who screwed up. Absolutely disgusting attitude. No integrity, no responsibility, no customer service -- just pure arrogance and disrespect. If you value your time, your money, or even basic honesty, STAY FAR AWAY from this pathetic excuse for a hotel. Comfort Suites should be ashamed. read more

This is probably my 6th or 7th time staying at this hotel and I must say that it suits my purpose just fine when I'm in town visiting my family. I grew up in this town, so I have to come here several times a year, and I've stayed in a majority of the hotels that are within a half mile radius of each other. It's not a Five-Star resort, so I'm not rating it as such. For what it is, it's a good 4 star stay. But, then again, it IS Tulare. Under $70 for a Thanksgiving stay. This hotel is consistently clean and always ready for me to check in. They always seem to have a nice staff. I always get a King Suite which comes complete with a separate seating area with a not so comfy love seat. The room is also stocked with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and full sized ironing board and iron. If you are coming to Tulare and need a clean and affordable hotel, I would recommend this Comfort Suites. It's within walking distance to restaurants, stores and a Starbucks. Your stay also includes a full breakfast in the morning complete with eggs, sausage, waffles and other continental breakfast type foods. There's a pool here which is great for those sweltering San Joaquin Valley summers. read more

We stayed here on Friday night on our way to the Sequioa National Park. Upon arrival the gentleman at the front desk was so nice and patient. The bed was perfect, pillows were okay, room was clean and had a really nice sleep. The next morning the breakfast was good. I wish they would monitor better because they ran out of everything by the time I got there. I saw a lady and her man fill up 2 full plates and walk out. It appears that the person supposed to be stocking the food was running late and the gentleman that check us in the night before was doing his best to restock the food. This place was great! After reading reviews about all the terrible, bed-bug-infested hotels in Bakersfield (plus overnight car break-ins), we looked further afield and found this place. It is either new or recently remodeled, as everything was updated and in great shape. Furnishings were tasteful and comfortable. The lobby was nice and the staff were great (friendly, efficient, and competent). Breakfast the next day was a full breakfast and decent (a little sugary for my taste, but my kids loved it). We appreciated the fact that they had electric car charging available. The area was safe and quiet. I would 100% stay here again. read more

Terrible experience at check in. I had booked a room a week in advance for 3 nights only to be told that they were out of rooms because someone made a scheduling error and there was "nothing they could do". Basically they told me tough luck and go find someplace and find a place to sleep after driving 5 hours and arriving at 1030pm at their hotel. After calling them out for their unacceptable service and showing them my confirmation email and several other guests noticing how absurd I was being treated (I assumed they thought I would just leave and accept their incompetent overbooking practices) magically they found us a room that was previously and supposedly non existent. Unbelievable. Don't let these people into bullying you into not fulfilling their bookings because of their incompetence. read more

I highly recommend this hotel. The room and the whole surroundings are very clean with pool. Staff are corteous & readily available. Free & full breakfast is also provided to guests up to 10am. The only redeeming quality of this establishment is the people who work here; they have all been lovely & helpful. I've been here for 3 days and the fire alarm has sounded at odd hours each day. It is a piercing, horrible sound (as it should be in the event of an emergency, the alarm would serve its purpose). The alarm that went off this morning around 6:35am was especially jarring. Then there was the huge roach in the bathroom. Jarring on top of jarring, folks. Now, wherever there are people, there are pests. I'm not deluded to believe that there would never be a roach in a hotel. The size of the thing and it's presence in the bathroom were unsettling, to say the least. Especially since I was unable to kill it and now have no idea where it's scurried off to. To sum up: random fire alarms daily, huge roach/water bug in the bathroom. Also for anyone with mobility issues, please note this is a two story hotel with no elevator. Can't say I'd recommend this place. read more

From the moment walking In there was an odd smell, then after I checked in I was told there was no elevator and I had to carry my luggage up two sets of stairs like I was staying at a motel six except triple the price. I couldn't believe it! I knew something bit me so I turned on the lights and checked the bed. Omg!!! I couldn't believe how many live bedbugs I found Crawling on bed and under the pillows it was one of the most horrific experiences of my life! I'm getting itchy just writing about it! I will post video and pictures or you to try and understand how bad it was. I went down stairs and showed the front desk video and demanded to speak to the manager or owner. She happened to not be there til 7am so I waited in the lobby, keep in mind it's 4am and I haven't got any sleep after a 5 hour drive. She finally arrived and tries to help me with giving me the entire stay free. But I did not want to stay in this place! They did not want to help in any other way so when it came to just switching the rooms they ended up not even making the stay free. Stayed here for 1 night. Great location right off the freeway and we got a king room for under $100 - before tax. The front desk clerk was awesome and was able to get us a free upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi. The room was nice and spacious but it did have a weird smell to it. We assumed it was from the tub. We had a horrible experience at this hotel. We were on a road trip, and it was very late when we pulled in. When we got to our room we hurried up and got our six year old son in bed. After he was already tucked in, I went into the bathroom and found it reeking of cigarette smoke. This is a non-smoking hotel. The front desk called us to ask how the room was. They offered to allow us to change rooms, but our little boy was already half asleep, and I was exhausted, so I declined, a decision I immediately regretted. In hindsight I should have ripped my child out of bed and taken them up on their offer; both my husband and I have asthma, and I had to hold a wet washcloth over my face when using the restroom in order to breathe. It was that bad. In addition, I felt guilty for exposing my son to second-hand smoke, and I barely slept all night. My main issue is, why were we given this contaminated room in the first place? There's no way staff who cleaned the room did not notice the smell. The reason I had chosen this hotel is because it was the last hotel in the area to have a room with two queen beds. It was the last such room in this hotel, too. Nevertheless, I would have much preferred for staff to level with us before checking us in to let us know that room was unavailable too. It really should have been. To say I am unhappy with my stay would be an understatement. I might expect such an experience in a Motel 6, but not in a hotel that I paid over $100 for one night. I don't think I'll risk staying at a Comfort Suites hotel again. read more

Got a 2 Queen bed with a pullout sofabed for 3 days and 2 nights. Pros: - Good value for the stay. I really liked this hotel, it was very clean and comfortable. Zero complaints it was neat and organized. I really liked the customer service and the Asian lady who checked me and my family in she was so sweet and had the best energy. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay in the future if needed. I liked how staff took care of my kids at the pool when a group of guys came in with their six packs of beer and started smoking they kicked them out so it made me feel very comfortable. Stayed there for 3 nights, the check in was fast, the room is spacious and clean " no mouldy smell". The hotel is smoke free, so no smoke smell either. The hotels is located 3 minutes driving from the city center. The breakfast is good "waffles, yogurt, eggs and cereal" Tv has a lot of channels. Worst hotel stay ever. I'm on the verge of writing to the higher management at this point. This hotel was a horrible experience. We were in Tulare for my uncles funeral and had to get a room quickly. We got into town early, so we asked to check in early (which they had a too ready, yay). The YAY stopped THERE. we got in our room, and the air didn't work. It was hot outside the hotel and it was even hotter inside the room. The electronics didn't work, there was no phone. When we got ready to leave, we told the front desk about it all, she said she would take care of it. We got back from the funeral (which was all day) to the air still not working. Went to the front desk where we were rudely greeted by a guy who just stood there staring at us. When we approached him about our room he said "she took care of it, it works". We told him it didn't and we would like a new room. He said rudely "I figured you would say that" and threw a different room key at us. The air worked in that one, but not much else did. The lights flickered on and off all night, the fridge was gross, and much more. We were then awakened at 7:00 am to someone opening up our door. Thankfully we had kept the bathroom door open else they would have come in the room. I then went to get breakfast and it was gross. The food was disgusting. The biscuits were harder than a rock, the gravy smelled gross, the apple juice had a weird taste and just gross. Not what I expected. We then checked out and was rudely met by "what is your name". I am extremely disappointed and regret the business I have given them. I honestly want my money back and a call from the company. read more

Home sweet home for many weeks while working in Corcoran. The staff was super friendly, respectful and flexible. My rate could not be beat anywhere nearby using choice privileges multi night discount. I wanted to move to a different town, but the quiet and comfort and quality of what I found here kept me in Tulare week after week. The facility is certainly not brand new. But it is well kept. I enjoyed small touches of live plants around the place and the convenience of easy and good wifi. No elevator was a tad inconvenient upon arrival, but to make up for this I didn't have to listen to the sound of an elevator operating all the time. This is a great value for a business traveler. I got his room last minute to avoiding camping in 20 degree weather in Sequoia National Park and I have to say I was pleasantly surprise. The hotel is near a lot of restaurants and right off the fwy easy to find. All and I mean All of the staff were genuinely sweet helpful and kind. The breakfast the next morning was so good! Not too noisy until morning when toilets are flushed and showers going from up above. Standard breakfast fair but small breakfast room so if the hotel is packed, so is the breakfast area. We stayed here one night enroute to San Francisco from home. It wasn't too bad. Although it's right off the highway, the noise wasn't too bad (and we were on the freeway side). We got a double queen suite. Very clean. Our bathroom door had a little damage from the main room door, but it wasn't major. Room air was a little stale when we first got there. Beds were adequate, but mattresses were starting to show some age. They were a little more firm than I like. The shower was great -- excellent pressure, lots of hot water. Breakfast was underwhelming -- microwaved eggs and bacon. Internet was slow, but it worked. Staff was very helpful. After we checked out, we had to go back to search for a sippy cup in the room. No issues. All in all -- for the price it was worth it. read more

I came back on a Thursday, (Like the first time) and they told me because it's getting close to the weekend, that the Room was $107 plus tax...so it went up by $27....I won't be coming back.
