It started about 7pm most nights and went to 2 or 3am in the morning. What's bewildering, is the smoke would come up into my bedroom, which meant the neighbor was smoking in bed until 2 or 3am (same floorplan) - what happens if he falls asleep with a lit cigarette? Evergreen Ridge Apartments would burn to the ground. How much property and how many lives would be lost? I wrote a letter to the neighbor asking him kindly to stop, smoke outside, or try vaping, just for the 3 weeks I would be here (I'm sorry to the next person who moves into my place above him). Here is the letter: Dear Neighbor, I am a disabled Veteran who lives above you in apartment xxx. I have respiratory and allergy issues - I am very allergic to cigarette smoke. I believe your cigarette smoke is coming up into my apartment and its making me very sick. I am moving out of the apartment in 3 weeks at the advice of my doctor. I am hoping you can help me out and not smoke in the apartment, or use a Vape smoke (which doesn't permeate the way cigarette smoke does) until then? I played loud music when he would light up so he might understand "pollution" (noise pollution) coming from a neighbor. He retaliated by multiplying his smoking ten-fold. My apartment is now saturated with cigarette smoke, ruining my clothes, bed sheets and my possessions (cigarette smoke bonds with materials - its designed that way by the tobacco companies to addict more to their product). I literally leave for work sick every morning - sore throats, hurting lungs, brain fog. But smokers insist that it's their "right" and that others are being selfish when asking them to stop. The one change I would make is have one or two of the three buildings be non-smoking and one building for smokers. I think this would avoid many problems. P.S. We had a friend that we take care of at Fleshers and he had to go to the hospital for adjustment of…read morehe's meds as they were too strong for him and he was combative.At the hospital he was very calm and approachable and caused no problems after the first couple of days.When he went back to Fleshers they,again,told us he was combative and they would have to send him to a nursing home with a locked ward.They sent him to a nursing home about 27 miles from our home and did not request he be placed on a locked ward.Since he has been at this nursing home he has been very calm and has caused no problems.When he was sent to the new facility all of his belongings did not go with him and we had to go to Fleshers to get them.We then took those belongings to him at the new facility and found the now foam overlay for his bed that he had not slept on more that 10 nights had turned into a different overlay that had obviously been slept on many nights and was not clean.We know that was not his overlay because the one we got him had his name on it and was white.The one we got from Fleshers was grey.We feel Fleshers was dishonest with us about his need to be placed on a locked ward and then not asking for that at the new facility.The social worker at the new facility told us Fleshers had not requested a locked ward.We will not have any more dealings with Fleshers as we feel they canot be trusted to tell us the truth!
