My grandparents lived there in the mid 60's to the early 70's when the building just opened they were upscale apartments they were not co-ops or condominium style apartments the reason why my grandfather & grandmother had been the 1st tenants in their apartment only WHICH HAD A BEAUTIFUL TERRACE FACING THE BACK OF THE BUILDING WHICH WAS OVER LOOKING THE POOL MY Grandparents lived on the 9th floor. My Grandparents got the apartment for $300.00 a month for a 2 bedroom in the 60's which was pretty high priced for those years even though my uncle did all the architecture work.... We have lived in this building for over 25 years. We chose to live here because it is safe and a great location across the street from Flushing Meadow Park and a small park where children can play. The park across the street has tennis courts and paddleball courts and a nice playground. Of course Flushing Meadow Park is a huge Park with many many amenities. One of our favorite things is to walk around the lake at sunset. Priceless! The pool is closed right now pending renovation but when it's open I think this building will once again be five stars. We love our Doormen, especially Antoine and Tony there more like our own private concierge, much more than Doormen! They go out of their way to make sure that our needs are met and have often exceeded my expectations; sometimes I think they know what I need even before I realize I need it! These hard-working men make it a pleasure to live at the Fairview. 24 hour security is visible and constantly patrolling the building and the grounds. There is a courtyard with picnic tables and chairs to relax and enjoy the evening breeze. There is also a private play ground for residence and a small basketball court also. The huge laundry room makes it almost a pleasure to do laundry it is card operated and almost all the machines work very rarely have to wait for a machine. Parking can be a challenge so you may want to purchase an apartment that has a parking space on the lease already. There is both indoor and outdoor parking that is reasonably priced. The management office has always responded to my needs and addressed issues quickly and appropriately. Although I am not a pet owner, the building is pet friendly. Management seems to understand the importance of pet ownership and pet owners are respectful of their home and surrounding property. I have no issues with noise or pet waste. The subway is about a mile away. Plenty of buses within walking distance Including express buses to Midtown and downtown Manhattan. read more

- HIGHLY INVASIVE - A TOTAL DISREGARD OF THE BUYERS PRIVACY- A CAUTIONARY WARNING TO PROSPECTIVE BUYERS- Although I am aware that the New York Court of Appeals made it lawful (Levandusky v. One Fifth Ave. Apt. Corp); for the co-op boards to use "BUSINESS JUDGMENT" when accepting or denying applicants. As long as decisions aren't "discriminatory", the board can deny you for any and every reason it sees fit ...WITHOUT HAVING TO EXPLAIN THE BASIS FOR THIS JUDGMENT. And hence, being aware of this unfortunate current LEGAL reality, I would not have posted such a Negative review HOWEVER, what broke the camel's back were the calls from Broker's inquiring about my interest in buying and/or renting an apartment DESPITE NOT having made ANY contact and/or inquiry with ANY BROKER. My interest in an apartment at the Fairview was a PRIVATE sale; ... there were NO BROKERS OR BANKS INVOLVED. I was required to PAY for and go through a HIGHLY INVASIVE background screening process which included the Following: - $200 application fee - $400 Managing agent fee - $300 Legal fee - $250 security fee - Criminal Background check - Credit score check - An at HOME visit by a third party who is contracted to perform the background investigation and who in addition to the aforementioned took pictures of myself and my current place of residence (INSIDE & OUTSIDE) in addition to asking me some HIGHLY personal questions. One question, in particular, perturbed me was; "If I or anyone in my household received any public assistance"....This question is STUPID and UN-Lawful to ask. To add insult to injury, soon after this process concluded, I began receiving inquiries from brokers. After having paid for, in addition to having disclosed private information about myself, clearly, someone within the application process handling chain, saw it fit to share my information with other brokers. Looking at this from an owners perspective...this is simply BAD for business and an extremely cumbersome process when trying to sell your apartment. Conversely, from the perspective of the buyer, given the level of transparency required by the board, you would expect a high degree of respect for the buyer's privacy and a privacy policy that reflects that respect. Including giving a rationale for why the buyer was either rejected or accepted; despite what the law says because it makes....... " BUSINESS SENSE". Evidently from my experiences with the Fairview Owners Corp neither was the case. Fairview Owners - Property Management Near Me - Forest Hills, New York

The worst management ever! If you plan on moving into this apartment, you should stop because the management here is retarded. It's a Co-Op building with not a lot to offer along with really high maintenance fees. There is a outdoor swimming pool but it's not included with your monthly maintenance fee. You gotta pay a separate fee to use their pool. There is a doorman for this building but they are the laziest and the world's dumbest doormen on earth. First of all, they don't even open the door. Secondly, I've been coming in and out of this building to visit my grandmother for years and the stupid guys still wants me to sign in and ring my grandmother and wake her up. I told these idiots several times that my grandmother is sick because she's been going through chemo and she's in bed most of the time, I don't mind signing in and all but just let me in because I have the keys to her apartment but these morons just don't budge. I tried playing it nice a few years back by giving each doorman a bottle of wine for Christmas but they still continued to be jerks. The only thing I like about Fairview is that it's right across from Flushing Meadow Park. It's really convenient for morning walks, jogs, bike rides, and walking to Mets game. Other than that, don't get a Co-Op from Fairview. It's a tough place to sell if you ever wanna move to a different place and like I said before, their management sucks, maintenance fees are too high, stupid lazy doormen, and there's plenty of car theft if you park on Horace Harding or even along Grand Central Parkway sometimes. There's a housing project behind this building and it's just too close to LeFrak. Your best bet is just to keep away from Fairview even though it's considered to be in Forest Hills. The views might be nice but it's not worth it having to deal with the morons in the offices here. read more

The Fairview building is the best building in the area . Conveniently located next to the park . The building features 24 hour doorman , seasonal swimming pool. The pool is so dirty they dont even clean it. The water is ever dirtier, they dont even turn on the water filter. Also the kiddy pool is filled with dead bugs and pigeon feathers.. YUCK............. read more

This is the worst apartment building in the world!!! Management sucks!! High maintenance which doesnt do any good for the tenants when they actually need any kind of maintenance. When you complain about lack of maintenance the nut job of the head Carlson sucks up to the union job and refuses to do anything!!! So frustrating when you pay so high maintenance & good for nothing maintenance crew!! couple of doormen are actually good and also the older maintenance workers. As noted by other reviewers worst management ever!!!! Please do not every think about renting or buying here. I am trying to sell & get the hell out of here myself. Unless they take care of how this building and their lazy workers are managed the service is going down the drain. The location is absolutely beautiful with Flushing Meadows Corona Park across the street and all kind of shopping areas and religious places & schools nearby. I have lived there for almost 20 years and I love it! I do wish it had a gym, but other than that the building is very secure, NO crime in the neighborhod at all (I don't have a car so idk about car crime incidences), very nice porters/doormen, awesome shopping (walking distance to Rego Center with Costco, Kohl's, Panera, a little bit longer walk or or Q88 bus to the gigantic Queens Center mall), easy access to buses that go EVERYWHERE and a relatively short walk or one-fare-zone buses to E, F, R trains and the LIRR. I have renovated pretty much my whole place - they don't do it for you - and the maintenance is high, but other than that it is an excellent place to live. As a previous poster noted, walk across the street and you're in Flushing Meadows Park, with a 2.8 mile route around the lake, bike rentals, boat rentals, etc., available in summer, petting zoo across the other side of the park. About 4 blocks away is the 108th St. strip with, for nightttime, a Rite Aid, small food market and a fruit stand that are all open 24 hours. During the daytime, the strip has some AMAZING Russian and Middle Eastern food stores, a good pizza place and about five fruit stores and a decently-priced Key Food. A senior center with hot discounted meals and free classes for seniors is right around the corner, on the same block. In short, great, peaceful and safe place to live, down side is not many amenities in the building for the expensive maintenance, although the laundry room in the basement is nice. Quick final note, everything - heat, water, electricity, air conditioning with central air - is included in the maintenance, so even though it's high, that is pretty much your ONLY bill for shelter. read more
