The crew that works on our house is amazing and they really do pay attention to detail on what they are doing. They do a great job and work their butts off rain or shine. The crew that works on our house have very good customer service as well. Aaron is also very prompt at getting back to my e-mails which is a major plus to have good communication. Overall this company is dependable and they do quality work with a price that won't break the bank.

My original review still stands regarding their tree service. They did a good job with the tree removal and yard cleanup, and the quality of the work itself was good. However, after hiring them for ongoing yard maintenance, my experience was unfortunately very different. Communication became difficult, appointments were often missed or significantly delayed, and it was hard to know when they would actually show up. Since we travel frequently, reliability and communication are very important to us, and this became a major issue. I also found their pricing to be noticeably higher than other companies offering similar services in the area. I don't write this to criticize the company unfairly, but I do want to provide an accurate update so future customers can make an informed decision. If you're looking for a one-time tree service project, they may be a good option. However, based on my experience, I would be cautious about relying on them for ongoing scheduled maintenance.

Their real talent is pruning and also designing. They (Jason) pruned two of our Japanese Maples and they are both still beautiful. They are show stoppers! I will have them back to do pruning but have to find a cheaper alternative for weeding. They are all really nice, fun guys and I think very creative.

The project scope included a small hardscape patio, a small retaining wall so that the lawn area would be level, some fresh soil and plants to supplement what already existing. As we were getting ready to rent out the house, we needed this work to be completed quickly and with the minimal expense possible. We ended up selecting Jason Kibbey of Kibbey Design to prepare a sketch and submit a bid offer. Initially, at our on-site meeting Jason was very forthcoming and offered several great suggestions. A sketch was prepared and we asked that he prepare a bid. Our experience went downhill from there. There were long periods where we did not hear back from Jason and email messages where not returned. Eventually we received his bid of over $50,000 to complete this work and a multi-page contract document that was full of errors which we had to point out to him. One such error in Jason's contact document included his expired L&I insurance information. As Jason's bid broke our budget, we found someone else to do the hardscape work for a fraction of what Jason had offered. We set up an on-site meeting with both contractors where we explained the scope of work for each party and encouraged that they work together to coordinate the project schedule. Jason was amenable to this arraignment but soon was again not responsive to our phone and emails as well as the attempts by the other contractor to coordinate the project schedule. At one point, he and his crew showed up install the plant material (without speaking to us or the other contractor) and within an hour left stating that he could not install the landscaping with the hardscape still being installed. Again, his lack of communication. Once the hardscape was completed, we informed Jason and he brought his crew over to complete the installation of the landscape. Soils were not properly amended, landscape material that was to remain was relocated, and existing plant material that was not to be used was placed into the landscape. This I believe was done because Jason underestimated the quantity of landscape needed for this project. Finally, there was no final walk-through with Jason, no phone call, no email....he just left the job site and sent the invoice. In summary, I cannot recommend Jason Kibbey for any landscape residential projects. We found him to be very expensive, non-responsive to our phone and email attempts to contact him, he did not work well with the other contractor, and he did not follow planting instructions.

Andy is always so responsive to our requests and questions, and he provides detailed quotes that make it easy to decide what our must-haves and nice-to-haves are for our projects. And Jesus, Victor and the rest of the crew are the absolute best! They arrive every morning right on time, pay close attention to the details, keep everything organized and efficient while they are on-site, and work incredibly hard to make sure every job is done to perfection. From irrigation to lighting to fencing to stonework to plant and lawn installation, EcoYards has improved literally every inch of our property, and it's obvious that they take a lot of pride in their work. I had them pour a concrete walkway that included a grid pattern, add massive stone steps, build rock walls, put in a front entry walk that is a pure work of art, all new shrubs, and plants, lighting, irrigation. They work ethic is commendable, and they were extremely reliable. They were a pleasure to work with, and that includes the entire crew. Bill Peregrine, the owner had excellent ideas. I felt that prices they charged were very reasonable for the services rendered. I have now continued services with them for winterization of my irrigation and for soil fertilization. Fortunately, I had educated myself with the technology prior to meeting them, so I was well prepared to go with their organic approach. I would like to post pictures in the spring . I thought they would be done by the end of Sep, but fast forward to Mar of 2019, one year later, the project is still unfinished, and I have given up. Each time I contact Bill, he has a perfect excuse. This is the 5th house we owned in Seattle and I have hired a number of contractors for many garden projects, large and small, but this is by far the most frustrating contractor experience I have had. I also ended up with far less than what I hoped for. After I pulled an emergency brake at 50k including a commission for Bill to manage the overall project, I have no plants, trees, or irrigation. They may be ok if you are looking for gardening advice but I would not recommend unless you do not care about budget or deadlines, and have unlimited patience.

Fact: I never accepted his contract. I signed what I understood to be an estimate. Upon receiving his collection letter, I called the Consumer Protection Agency for help. They reached out to talk to him. However, he appears to be too busy trying to collect from me to respond to the Agency, as I have not received notice from the Agency of his to their inquiry. Four months later and he is still pursuing collection of this cancellation fee on a "contract" I never accepted. My experience with Star has been unpleasant at best. In my experience, a professional ensures their client is aware they are signing a contract, and is knowingly accepting of all of the conditions of a contract. To do less is to invite the impression of being shady - of baiting someone to sign an estimate and then switch it to a contract. As a result of his dogged pursuit of a cancellation fee for a "contract" I never accepted, I would NOT recommend doing business with him, EVER.

Out of all the companies I called, they stood out to me for how clear an easy they made the process. They came and gave me their estimate, which I felt was very fair, so we shook hands, I signed the contract, and they showed up right on time to remove the tree as scheduled. They are true professionals. How they were able to perfectly cut the tree so it fell at such an angle that not a single branch even scratched my fence or any of the structures around it was very impressive. I appreciated how attentive the owner was in making sure I was 100% satisfied before they left. I could really tell how much pride and care they have about the work they do. From scheduling to cleanup, all was smooth, clear, and professional. They answered all of my questions and were very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this company and I will definitely use them again in the future.
