The grass didn't take at all and 2 of the 3 arborvitae died (despite same level of watering and light exposure). I chalked it down to weather etc. and requested their services to redo the grass and some weeding, clean-up. They came by and quoted $800 on the cheap end (re-seeding) and $1200 to remove the old grass and plant new one. I told them it was too expensive and pointed out what hadn't worked from their earlier work and I was having to redo. They just shrugged and tried to say things like because of watering etc. but it didn't make sense. Disappointing for them to not take any responsibility and quote even higher prices. The search for a good yard service continues.

You will see gardeners on their phones while working one-handed. We have a hydrangea that borders on our neighbor's garden. The PPNW gardeners chose to prune only half of it leaving it weird looking and incomplete. Why they didn't knock on the door or call to ask if it was okay to prune the whole thing is a question unanswered by owner Shannon. Instead, she chose to cut off service to us as she felt it was rude of us to ask.

About my tag line - I'm not exaggerating when I lead with 'to the rescue', let me provide some details for context ... I'd previously hired a different landscaping service to do some fairly major change, cleanup and renovation work for my small space. In the end, that other landscaper's description of the work, including rendered images of what the finished product was to look like - did NOT match the result. Enter the home owner's association ... where they reminded me that what they approved and what they saw - wasn't the same. My small rock front yard has a clean, low and gradual, retaining wall that goes up the street, an extended retaining wall along a shared property line and some new arborvitae for privacy in my back patio - resolving concerns and issues for the front and giving me some privacy on my back patio! My neighbors have remarked that 'It (the retaining wall) is beautiful', 'Looks so much better', and 'Should we add them to the list for the HOA?' (Yes!) It may sound silly, but I did feel 'rescued' - someone helped me when I genuinely needed it; resolving my real issues, improving curb appeal, and resolving my neighbors and HOA concerns. My future plans include Van's ... When I'm done, and with HOA approval, I'll be asking Van to give me an estimate on my ideas. Again, my experience with Van and his team were great. Their pricing was very much on par with the other companies I met - for that large service, as well as ongoing bi-weekly yard care.
