We opted in for the $10 shuttle to downtown Hoonah and it stopped right infront of this place. The staff was very friendly and recommended the burrito, which my husband got. He said the burrito was delicious. I got the Right On- omg amazing but portion size for 2. Love the gravy and the biscuit! Perfect savory goodness I wanted. We also got 2 coffees that were great and we continued to drink them as we explored the jetty. The layout was perfect; we opted in to sit inside but they also have seats outside.

We arrived at Icy Strait Point on the Norwegian Jade. This is a great spot where you walk up to the window and order. They have different tacos, salmon, and halibut. We ordered the blackened halibut tacos and the beer battered halibut with potato salad and broccoli salad. It took a while to get our food and the beer battered halibut was not as tender as I would have liked, but the meal was tasty. They also serve espresso, coffee, and tea. There is another window that serves beer. This is a great place to stop after you've walked along the shoreline from your cruise ship. You can also buy some swag to remember it by!

To us, this was the best meal of our entire cruise to Alaska, including the ones on the ship! This lovely establishment is run by a lively couple - Todd and Srisa. Todd is the fisherman who goes out to catch your crab just an hour or two in advance of your meal. Together, they prepare a wonderful meal of steamed Dungeness Crab that is the freshest ever, accompanied by servings of Thai Fried Rice for everyone in your party. Mix the chunks of crab into the rice and voila' - The best crab fried rice I've ever tasted! Both of them cook and together they come out to present each course. The dessert is a delicious homemade berry cobbler made from wild berries that Sri handpicked herself. Just WOW. C A L L A H E A D ! ! ! Their usual mode of operation seems to serve private small tour groups, but my advice is to call ahead of time to reserve your table (ideally before you board your cruise) and tell them which day you are coming into Icy Point Strait. They'll definitely save a table for you if you give them a heads-up! D I R E C T I O N S : If your cruise ship itinerary says "Icy Point Strait" as a stopover, take the little shuttle bus on the far side of the visitors center for $5 each. Or.. just walk the 1.2 miles over to the nearby town of Hoonah. Hoonah is a tiny little village filled with fishing boats and a minimum of touristy kitsch. HBH is on your way into town. The shuttle bus passes HBH on the way in, and drops you off in front of the harbor marina. Set your sights a couple of blocks back along the shoreline from the harbor and you'll find Hoonah Beach House (HBH). We would love to dine here again!

Called to see if they were open before cruise and confirmed, showed up and they weren't open.read more

Pictured for 3 people...plus (2) chowders...that was $373. Correct - $373.00. $47.50 a cluster for snows. King Crab $100-$115 lb. And I thought the crab were caught right there? lol. I can get snow crab...shipped to the middle of of the US...all the middle men making theirs - and it's 12.99 lb (even $9.99 lb) on sale. A pure tourist trap rip off it seems. And everywhere does it (it) seems - because they can. I'd suggest you think twice in this one - as the seafood isn't that much over the top better seafood. After doing it in this day, I'd absolutely personally save the money.

Actually got full off of the toppings alone and I like how the flavor of the drink doesn't taste like someone put a straw inside a ketchup packet and then began slurping it was balanced out very nicely and is by far the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. Love it! Only reason why it's not 5 stars is because service at bar was lovely but I can't say the same for the lady that took our food order. Other than that it's a great stop!

The salmon bake included salad, coleslaw, pickles and olives beet salad, baked beans, rice, cornbread, BBQ ribs, clam chowder, and fire cooked salmon. For dessert there is blueberry cake and to drink there was coffee, hot apple cider, and lemonade. You can buy beer, wine and soda if you wanted that. The hot apple cider was soooo good. The food was all really good. We all had seconds. We really enjoyed this All You Can Eat buffet. There is tons of sitting areas that are covered if the weather isn't great. The day we went to the bake it was very rainy and the covered seating was great. There are also multiple heaters as well. We loved the short walk up to the gorgeous waterfall. The gift shop was cute, but expensive. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly.

Included with this excursion was hiking at Mendenhall Lake then they bussed us to Gold Creek. This was no flashy experience, the weather was cold but not rainy, but the setup was what we expected. It's a buffet style eating option with quite a bit of options. You're bound to find something you like and of course there was plenty of fresh salmon. We were not disappointed with any of the food and in fact went for seconds. It was a nice ending for our day and would potentially visit again if we ever cruise to that port in the future. If you're looking for something exhilarating or exciting, this isn't it. It's laid back and chill providing you with a calm experience. Depending on the time of year you visit, it may be cold and it may or may not be rainy so pack accordingly because I do not believe they offer rain checks. Also they have a nice little scenic trail that you can take a little stroll to walk off all of the food you eat!
