Had a chance to enjoy and explore this outdoor eatery as part of an excursion package while in Alaska on a cruise. It was a cool experience to enjoy fresh salmon from the smokey grill, complimented by many sides. All food is served buffet style. You grab a plate and go for it. Don't forget to pick up their famous blueberry dessert and make some smores over one of the burning fire pits. The property is beautiful, and pretty large - you can walk beyond the gift shop to a little waterfall and some interesting carved art pieces. For other tourists wondering about transportation - there are buses or shuttles that come pretty often and you just get on line when you're ready to go back downtown. Overall a fun experience tucked away in a gorgeous location with some classic foods.

My daughters and I went to Gold Creek Salmon Bake for dinner. We arrived around 4:50 PM, just before the first tour bus, so it was pretty empty. The walk-in price was $82.99, which was actually more than booking through a tour ($79). That was a bit surprising. The setting was beautiful. There were many tables under several large canopies, and some were set up right along the creek, surrounded by lush forest. A live musician was playing guitar, which added a nice vibe. Dinner was buffet-style, with fire-grilled salmon as the highlight. They also had clam chowder, salmon salad, ribs, cornbread, potatoes, and more. Coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and lemonade were included in the price. For dessert, there was blueberry cake and a firepit where you could toast your own marshmallows. After eating, we browsed the small gift shop and took a short, scenic walk to a nearby waterfall along Salmon Creek. The waterfall was small but pretty. Along the way, my daughters tried panning for gold. There weren't any instructions, just some pans, water, and rocks. One of my daughters actually found a few small gold flakes. We ended the night with blueberry cake and toasted marshmallows. My daughters were hoping for graham crackers and chocolate for s'mores, but they didn't have any. Overall, we had a great time. We especially enjoyed the clam chowder and salmon. The cornbread and potatoes were tasty too. It's a bit pricey, but the food and experience were worth it.

While in Juneau Alaska I decided to visit the Golden Creek Salmon Bake. I had heard many good things about it from fellow Yelpers and it didn't disappoint. ALL you can eat salmon cooked over an open flame along with tasty sides were included. The salmon was very flavorful and was cooked to order. Apple cider, coffee, lemonade and water were also available along with a cup of clam chowder. A short (2) minute walk takes you to an impressive and visually stunning waterfall that's cascades down the rocks and into a stream. The food, environment and hospitality of the staff was greatly appreciated. When in Juneau and looking for a place to satisfy your salmon craving this might be the spot.

OK... You can see from my star rating that it was ultimately very good, but a quick reality check... When you are booking the excursion via Princess cruise lines in particular, you will get the impression that this is an upscale salmon bake where you are removed from the elements and you have many options when it comes to food and drink. In reality, you should not think of this as a high end grilling restaurant. Think of this as an old-fashioned, hootennanny kind of picnic and your expectations will be closer and you will be much more pleased with the results. The tables are covered from rain with plastic sheets, and the coffee and lemonade stations are good. Just much smaller than you might've expected. The food itself was good. I particularly liked the salmon grilled over an open flame with Alder wood. The rest of the food was much like you would find at any other buffet. The au gratin potatoes, however, were extremely good as was the cornbread. Salmon Caesar salad was good, as were the rest of the accoutrement. The barbecue pork ribs were good, but not great, but the feature of this entire area is the grilled salmon. The surrounding area is beautiful! babbling brook fed by a live and relatively powerful waterfall were the highlights of our trip. Old school bus here and back with a nice bug small gift shop and bar. Maybe a little pricey, but booking through the ship means they have to wait for you.

This was a fun little activity and wasn't too busy when we were there. Had some amazing chowder (though the portion size was quite small). The salmon looked amazing but I didn't enjoy the brown sugar sauce/glaze and I didn't find much else at the buffet that I wanted to eat. Still a cool place to visit once and definitely take the time to explore the surrounding area.

I purchased tickets to the salmon bake while on a cruise that stopped in Juneau, and it was such a great experience. The salmon was incredible, perfectly cooked with a sweet, flavorful glaze that paired beautifully with the rich sockeye. There were plenty of sides to choose from, and everything tasted homemade and comforting. The blueberry cake was a standout and made the meal feel complete. We visited in September and it was cold and raining, but they offered hot cocoa and apple cider, which made it feel cozy and warm. You can even make s'mores by a covered fire, which adds a fun touch. There's also a pretty waterfall just a short walk away, making the whole experience feel peaceful and memorable.

Definitely an experience worth trying. Everything is salmon plus more! Salmon Cesar salad was my favorite. Yummy cornbread and coleslaw too. Oh and the cake! Delicious. It's buffet style serve yourself. Dislike, there weren't any food signs mentioning description for allergies. I had to ask questions. The outdoor picnic style was great. And please take that short walk to the water and gold panning area you won't be disappointed!!

Ate here as part of a glacier tour. Could not have been more pleased. We had great weather, if it had been raining, probably not quite as good. Everything is outdoors, set alongside the namesake stream. Seating is ample. It's a serve yourself arrangement. Food was all excellent and plenty to go around. Lines can be a little long depending on arrival of other tour buses. Definitely worth a visit.

I attended with a cruise excursion. The food was ready, buffet style. The salmon was good and there was an option for their honey bbq sauce. Be careful of bones in the salmon. The salmon chowder was good. Service was quick and good.

We enjoyed the Gold Creek Salmon Bake after our excursion to Glacier Gardens. What an unexpected treat! The setting is absolutely gorgeous, green & rustic, with peaceful music playing softly in the background. You will be greeted by a friendly face who will offer you a cup of clam chowder as you warm up. The buffet is delicious & the salmon is awesome, cooked to perfection. It wasn't crowded while we were there, in fact, at one point, we were the only people there. After you gorge yourself on salmon, take a walk around the beautiful grounds that back up to a stream and waterfall. It's a great place, we were surprisingly impressed.

Good food, gorgeous setting; gotta try! #cornbreadwasfire

Salmon, sides, and Husky Draft beer shared with wife and daughter. Served buffet style (except for salmon) but I found it all good! Cornbread was delish! Plus, the scenery just 50 yards away was stunning! Highly recommend!

Absolutely perfect fresh sockeye salmon grilled over an open fire would have been enough to get this place top ratings with me, but everything else they serve is top-notch too. Salmon/clam chowder, ribs, tender cornbread, awesome beans, yummy blueberry cake, everything was great! You can even roast a marshmallow or two over a campfire when you're done. And don't miss the waterfall & abandoned gold mine there! Fascinating place, highly recommend!

This place is awesome!! We went as part of a broader tour through Holland America. We visited this location after the Salmon Hatchery. Despite our rainy day, we still had a fabulous time here at the Salmon Bake. What a cool venue! It was really magical and beautiful. You are essentially tucked in a rainforest and they have these awesome picnic tables a giant outdoor brick oven where they're cooking all the meats. They have a number of fire pits to get marshmallows to roast and ample firewood, to continuously stoke the fire. there's an outdoor bar. Even on a rainy day it was still such a fabulous experience. I would highly recommend coming here. We really enjoyed the food. There was a salmon, Caesar salad, salmon fillets, coleslaw, cornbread, baked beans, and other things that I just can't recall now, but we really enjoyed it. It was a nice hardy meal. The people were super friendly and it was a great place to kill an afternoon.

Is there a way to get there from port without doing a cruise excursion? Do they have a bus that picks people up at port and brings them back to the ship?

I looked into this last year and yes you could take a city bus that would drop you off near the restaurant. You would need to walk a quarter mile or so though. The restaurant does operate their own buses it looks like and they are coming and going… Read more

Can you eat here without going on an excursion? If we have a rental car, can we just drive there? I can't seem to find anything about a location, etc without being on a tour.

Yes, no prior reservation required. Head out of town as if going to the hospital, before going up the hill to the hospital, turn left on Salmon Creek Lane, after one block turn left again into the Gold Creek Salmon Bake. Enjoy!

The line moved quick and we were able to get a seat inside. We went with the red and golden crab to see what the difference was besides the price! The red crab was definitely better in terms of taste. The price is ridiculous as the red crab was $90 for a leg and the golden crab was $65 per leg. Since we were here, we had to eat it though. We also got a cup of the crab bisque. It was good and what made it better was putting more crab into it! The bread was realistically just a Hawaiian roll with a little garlic butter. There wasn't enough garlic taste for our liking. We told our friend to make a little crab sandwich with her roll.

They included crab bisque, crabcakes, a roll and crab legs. I chose the golden king crab, and my husband chose the snow crab. I like the king crab better than the snow crab. Although the serving size was not as large, the crab meat was more firm and flavorful. I grew up eating Dungeness crab in the San Francisco area so I have high expectations. I felt the golden king crab was as tasty. The crab bisque had a nice flavor. It was creamy and had chunks of crab in it. The crab cakes were ok. The sauce that accompanies them helped their flavor. Out bill with drinks was $165. Crab is a must have when in Alaska and Tracy's serves it quickly and efficiently.
