It's a dive bar in remote Alaska, what's not to love? After walking the 2 miles from our cruise ship into Hoonah we saw the Office Bar and it looked like a cool place to have a few drinks and rest our legs. The bartender was a very kind and said her aunt was the owner. We chatted with her about the area and what it's like living in Alaska. A few other cruise ship folks stopped in and soon there we a fun group of us laughing, joking, and drinking. It proved to be a good place to stop in Hoonah.

We stopped in Hoonah AK while on our Alaska cruise. After wondering about the town we diced to grab a bite to eat. We were told The Office might have crab. We arrived there and were told that crab season was over so we ordered what turned out to be the best fish and chips ever! The place is very cool. There are peanuts in the shell on the tables. They also provide free WI-FI with a$10.00 order. Mary did the cooking and she is awesome. If you happen to be in Hoonah AK this is a must There isn't much else to see so stop here and do your walk about after.

Went on an Alaskan cruise stopped at this bar while in Village of Hoonah. Very rude and nasty owner?/employee. Would not recommend this bar.

We were told they had fresh crab so we stopped by. Small bar. The crab was good but small for $25.

Great service by Jessica, happily met Mary the owner. Cold Amber Alaskan beer and yummy clam chowder. DO NOT MISS THE CRAB HERE!

A friendly neighborhood dive bar. We were here 8 years ago and nothing has changed. And that's a good thing! :)

Wonderful hot spot to have an Alaskan brew and seafood is excellent. Mary makes a mean chowder and potato salad.

We opted in for the $10 shuttle to downtown Hoonah and it stopped right infront of this place. The staff was very friendly and recommended the burrito, which my husband got. He said the burrito was delicious. I got the Right On- omg amazing but portion size for 2. Love the gravy and the biscuit! Perfect savory goodness I wanted. We also got 2 coffees that were great and we continued to drink them as we explored the jetty. The layout was perfect; we opted in to sit inside but they also have seats outside.

They might deserve only 3 stars this trip, last trip was a very solid five. Gave them extra star due only to being locally owned. For the food, it definitely went downhill. Last time biscuits were more flavorful and the gravy was delectable and full of many flavors. This time it's slightly better than the canned country gravy. The eggs, while can tell they are eggs, are extremely dry and overcooked. One of the ladies that helped me seemed to have a wedgie, very tight mannered, kinda pleasant but not at all. The other one who helped me was vice. Still enjoy the location overlooking the dock with some mountains in the background. Don't know what happened but hope they improve to last years level. Really sad, really truly sad. Couldn't even finish the whole plate. Maybe I'll be back if bored bit ship has better food this year. Which is also sad. Edit: Wish could remove the tip, not at all satisfied with service.

We came across Misty Bay which offers lodging, a casual restaurant, and whale, fishing, and bear watching excursions. We had lunch at the order at the counter restaurant and had the following: (1) Fresh Halibut & Chips My fish was grilled & served with french fries. I must admit that I wanted my traditional battered & deep fried fish & chips. Although my halibut was fresh, it was also dry and just OK. (2) Cheeseburger &Fries Hubby and sonny boy both ordered the burger dish and both were satisfied. The Misty Bay Lodge restaurant offers a casual atmosphere, friendly service, and "A-OK" food. 3 Stars

We saw plenty of humpbacks, sea lions, orcas, deer and a pack of bears! We were so lucky to see the bears, according to the captain. He made sure to stop so we could snap some photos. It was worth every penny. After the tour, we returned to Misty Bay Lodge for lunch. They advertise what they are serving that day as a special, while they also serve whole pizzas and pizza by the slice. Hoonah is a small place, so your options are limited for dining out. It appears that locals and tourists eat here daily. Hope (the owner) was a great host. She answered all of our questions about the area. She suggested that we split an order of fish and chips (fresh halibut!) for lunch and she was right- it was plenty for both of us. We each enjoyed Alaska APA and amber ales. So good. And I'll admit it- I never watched Alaskan Bush People, but now that we are home we have watched a couple episodes just to see Hoonah and Misty Bay Lodge! Pretty cool.

It was not overly battered and perfectly fried. It was so fresh. The sidewinder fries were awesome! The Drive Through burger was delicious and the fries were also yummy. While this isn't my favorite (try Sandbar), the fish is fresh and it's pretty hard to complain. Another win for fish and chips in the area. The shape of the potatoes is a bit weird looking, but surprisingly it works and they were nice and crispy. I did think the fish batter was a tad doughy on the inside, and yet a little overcooked on the outside. Not the end of the world though, and I still enjoyed it. We did stop by during the week for lunch and the truck was closed, which was a bit annoying. One of the brewery employees said this place doesn't always open reliably, for various reasons. Just something to be aware of. Better luck on the weekends. Overall it's a nice spot right next to the Alaskan Brewing Company, which has lots of great beers and a nice patio spot out back to eat your fish, have a beer, and hang out with your dog. Yum!
