Unfortunately we always remember our unfavorable experiences more than the favorable ones. So, let me start by saying this: The majority of my visits have been good ones! The staff are helpful when I'm seeking out something new (porters are my new favorite beer). So, I do appreciate that. Today however, the gentleman who checked me out was very short and pretty much rushed me out. I don't like that. If you're in the customer service business you need to find a way to keep that sh*t to yourself. We're all human, I get it. But don't take your issues out on the customer. I'll be back tho. Fairwood Wine & Spirits - My FAV! - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Bowie, Maryland

This place is great for a quick run to either play lottery and purchase wine/alcohol. The staff is always extremely pleasant. This is what I would consider a smaller size Wine and Spirits shop and I find the store to be neat and clean. It's located in the same shopping plaza as the Safeway. I enjoy coming here for my needs. There is no loitering at this place like surrounding liquor shops so it makes coming in/out pleasant. read more

The African American man who works at the register here is literally the rudest person I've encountered in a very long time. No greeting, no pleasantries no nothing just a frowned face like he doesn't want to help. You say hello & he does not respond. You say thank you & he says "yeah" instead of your welcome. You accidentally say the wrong size bottle & hes quick to catch an attitude as if It was done purposefully. So now I'll be going elsewhere & found better prices. It's a shame Bc they have a good selection for It to be such a small store. All of the other employees are nothing but nice so no clue what his deal is. I do consider this a nice neighborhood gem and I'm glad it's here. They are very friendly, will offer to order something you'd like to see them carry, have vendor tastings on many Fridays (which has definitely prompted me to buy the special :)) and they carry a good selection of spirits overall. I've been in here many times and love the convenience of having this store in the neighborhood. And after the law changed they are also open on Sundays! read more

I have literally searched everywhere for this wine!!! Today I called this store looking for a particular wine, store associate Erick answered and was able to locate the wine. He informed me of the price and offered to hold the last few bottles until I arrived! I thought that was so nice of him to do so. I told him I was about 30-45 minutes away but would make it before the store closed. I arrived and he had my wine ready and waiting. Next time you stop in ask for Erick he's the best!! read more

The best thing about Fairwood Cafe Wine & Spirits is that its OPEN on Sundays! Most liquor places in Maryland are not open on Sunday b/c you are only allowed to sell Wine & Beer on Sundays. The workers are pretty nice and helpful with selecting anything you need and fairwood wine & spirits tend to have a good selection. Its a great clean location without the "grimey" liqour store feel or appearance. read more

I'm a liquor lover! But I've been forced by my maturing friends to purchase and drink wine more often. Luckily, this family knows a lot about it. They always answer my questions and they tend to give me great suggestions. I also like the fact that they run a pretty clean shop with very fair prices. It's the neighborhood liquor store without the winos and creepy drunk dudes that are grinning and following you with their eyes. They also have wine tastings for cheap and a little deli. Wine tastings and in walking distance of my house! It's as good as it gets for me! read more

A cut above! Great wine/spirits store located in Fairwood Green. The owners and employees are very friendly. Especially enjoy the weekend wine tastings! It's a great way to try new wines without buying the whole bottle to discover you don't like it. Recently they have been doing wine/food pairing dinners - great idea! The sandwich/cafe has really good sandwiches. My only compaint about the sandwich shop is the time it takes to get your food. No matter if you are the only one there or in line, your minimum wait time is 20 minutes! read more

This was my first visit to this place and it's really a pretty decent liquor store. Clean, neat and well organized. I was in here while the Missus was picking up a prescription at the Safeway and she wanted some Kahlua for a little sip in the evening to go with some Half & Half she bought. I didn't spend a whole long time in there but from what I could see it has lots of wine, a good assortment of spirits and some beer. I'm guessing the prices are OK. I like the fact that it's close so I might be coming back here, again, depending on what the Missus is hankering for. read more

I love this place! I don't come here as often as I should, because let's face it - wine and spirits make the world go 'round, but I'm never disappointed when I come. When I needed a bunch of mini champagne bottles so that I could add ombre glitter on them, they had them in stock when other places didn't. When I was going through a phase and only wanted to drink Jam Jar sweet shiraz, they had it in stock when other places didn't. When I discovered Delirium Tremens - a Belgian Strong Pale Ale - they did not have it in stock, but assured my husband that they would order it. And a week later, I walked in and they had it in stock! They are awesome over here! read more

Before my little exercise in vocal restraint yesterday at the Safeway, I stopped into Fairwood Cafe Wine & Spirits to pick up a white wine to go with the soup I eventually purchased. Prices seemed reasonable. Staff seemed friendly. I was happy to make my purchase and leave though. I felt like I was being watched the whole time. From the one-way plexiglass mirror/window beside the wine display to the staff member who suddenly needed to dust off the bottles behind me. Yikes. They were creeping me out. Seems like they could devote a little bit of that energy to putting some prices on the cold wine that is inside the refrigerated cases so customers don't have to make the trek from the refrigerated case over to the room-temp bottles on-shelf to figure out the prices. I'll more than likely return to this place. Its convenient and the prices are not bad. read more

"LM from Crownsville" is the only negative review I have ever seen on Yelp. It may be possible that he had a bad experience but I have been shopping here since 2010 and have never had a bad experience. It really made me upset to see that LM used the word prejudice towards an employee. I am a black male and I have never ever felt an ounce of discrimination inside of Fairwood's. The kids who work at Fairwood are all very nice and polite. Most notably a bigger kid named Richard(?) who always helps me pick out great wines for my various events/parties and the guest love them! He is very knowledgeable with his wines, and he is a Nationals fan so that's an even bigger plus! The boy deserves a raise lol :-) The store is very welcoming and the prices are great. Corridor prices may be a tad better, but that is because they are a bigger store. I prefer to shop at a small local commnity store. And if you play the lottery, you will be in heaven! I've been here a couple times. Prices are ok, but you can get better prices and wider selection at other stores. This particular location is located next to the Safeway, so you can shop for groceries and a bottle of wine/alcohol in one stop. I never understood why the grocery stores cannot sell alcohol- it makes things easier. read more

If only there was a negative star. Tonight I stopped in here for a bottle of red. Quickly picked something I had tried before and the man at the counter commented it was top shelf. I teased him and said I had bought it before in Annapolis at a cheaper price and why was Bowie more expensive. The (white) man said softly to me (also white), "Because this is the ghetto and there is not as much demand." He then tried to explain that PG County was one of the most affluent black counties in the U.S. I replied that his remarks were very prejudice and hoped his customers did not hear such remarks. Amazing little liquor store in our neighborhood that finds the best wines, and are incredibly helpful in looking for specific wines. I am from South Africa and they have managed to find all my favorites wines from South Africa. They also have really good prices. It is a really great place. read more
