Baby back ribs dinner with coleslaw amd loaded baked potato
    Tamara S.

This was my first time dining at RIPs. My uncle loves their ribs, so I decided to try it out for date. The staff was friendly and our server was very nice. My friend was disappointed in his food, which was the meatloaf meal. His loaded mashed potatoes were dry (needed butter), and the gravy on the meatloaf was not tasty. (I tried myself). Needless to say he was disappointed about his food, and this was also his first time to RIPs as well. I ordered the ribs, loaded baked potatoe, and coleslaw. Ribs were pretty good, could have used a little more seasoning, but over all it was okay. Loaded baked potato seemed like they threw the cheese on top and put under the broiler, because the toppings came out crisp. The coleslaw was heavy mayonnaise based, which was not good to me. I didn't even taste a little vinegar. I had the fried pickles for an appetizer, didn't get the horseradish sauce. They were okay. Overall, okay on the food, but not on my top list to return unfortunately since its close to home.

Whenever in the area I recommend stopping by for a bite . The service is great , the vibe inside is clean and intimate . The blueberry pancakes had too many blueberries ( if that's possible) , the turkey sausages were delicious ious and the omelet was amazing . The price for everything was definitely reasonable.

Grabbed a bite to eat at Rips the other day. We started out with a cup of cream of crab soup. The soup was creamy with pieces of lump crab meat on top. It was pretty good. The we had the fish and chips and their version of a French dip. The fish and chips were a little costly, but you got two nices pieces of fish(need more seasoning) fries and coleslaw. The dish was nice and hot. The French dip was basic beef(need more seasoning) and cheese on a sub roll. It came with au jus for dipping, fries. The service was good, but then again the restaurant was not busy. The menu seems a little pricey, but I think Rips is worth a try.

I had a wonderful evening at Rip's! Excellent food, great service, chill atmosphere. Ashley was our server, and gave excellent service and was very sweet! I love the old country music playing. I had the chicken pecan salad which was 12/10!! Will definitely be back!

This is one of my favorite spots to visit anytime of the day! I'm never disappointed breakfast, lunch or dinner. Rips just never misses. The food is always fresh. The service is always great and the whole eating in a stable thing...well... Let's talk about that later! The seafood here is why I keep coming back. It's fresh and done well. That's it and that's all. Portions will keep you satisfied. Listen if you're in the area and haven't tried Rips at least once... you're missing out. Stop by! Oh and get the liver and onions and the meat loaf heck! Get a couple of entrees

My family are here for the first time the other day and we were pleased with this choice of dining facility. The food was delicious. The service was good. The atmosphere for a country tavern. We had a very nice time.

"He's not coming back," Robert McCall asserted after sliding a broken, bloody pair of Aviator-style glasses onto the table in front of Teddy, Alexander Pushkin's enforcer for the East Coast, Russian Mob. "Had enough?" McCall asked. "You certainly have my attention." "Because I can keep going. Brick by brick. Dollar by dollar." McCall paused to spread a napkin across his lap, before continuing. "Body by body. Or you can call your boss and tell him to shut down his operation. Tonight." "That's not much of an offer." "That's the only one you're gonna get. When you pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too." With his stoic, matter-of-fact, yet punishing delivery, Denzel Washington's McCall lets Martin Csokas's Teddy in on a secret: McCall is the one who should be feared. But what if this threat-filled exchange didn't occur in a posh, Boston restaurant with violins serenading the patrons? What if McCall and Teddy stared down each other in one of the comfy booths of Rip's Country Inn, located at 3809 Crain Highway in Bowie, Maryland, as plates of their mouthwatering Maryland Fried Chicken; tender, gravy-soaked Rip's Meatloaf; and piping, hot bowls of their ingredient-filled Maryland Crab soup and Cream of Crab soup were ushered in front of them? One thing's for sure. McCall wouldn't have touched his stopwatch.

About 1/2 full side of thick (lots of flour) gravy.

I believe they not consistent. Ordered same items I ordered last visit (6weeks ago). Stuffing wasn't fresh and crusted like it was in a pan for 2 days. Gravy thick and low on flavor. The meal came warm not hot... (HOT Turkey sandwich). Crab soup isn't as good as 6 weeks ago along with sandwich. Asked for a to go box and a little extra gravy (you know hot turkey sandwiches, gravy makes the dish, charged $2 for side gravy... (maybe 5oz in an 8oz container. Service again much better last time, nice young girl but very scarce .... I'm an easy 40% - 50% tipper... I left her just over 20% and hesitated. Oh well next time in town looking for another place, any suggestions for a nice simple good hot meal. Thank You in advance. Ambiance is nice. But I'm about consistency when it comes to restaurants...

In all the years I have been in MD, my first time dining at Rips was for a private work event. The crab dip was decadent and divine. The pita bread was warm and sinfully delicious. I was so satisfied with my appetizer that I opted for the salmon salad as a main course. It was generous and bursting with flavor. I love the fried green tomatoes and avocado. The server assigned to our event was swift and pleasant. The mixologist was on point too! I would come back for more.

I did the smothered porkchops - WOW, best that I have had - really enjoyed the main entrée and my sides (greens, black-eye peas). Both meals came with cornbread (another option was a biscuit). I have to say the food, the Staff and the establishment has been my best taste of southern cooking in the DMV area. I ordered chicken wings (6) to go for wife & I to enjoy later. The fish (catfish and croaker) always tastes like it's been fried in grease that needs changing. There's no flavor profile in the food which is weird for a soul-food restaurant. The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).

So we drove a good 30mins to get here, with anticipation from seeing this restaurant on a travel channel, but the original location is in NY. We get there, and its plenty of free parking. We ask for seating for 3 and we are told they are only seating individuals who booked a reservation. Totally understandable considering its Valentine's day. I dropped the ball folks. I didn't make a reservation. So I noticed a bar lounge which we were told we could wait for a seat to open up. As we were waiting a coupled jumped in front us and took a seat. The manager Claudia came to the rescue like the dark knight but with more grace. She mentioned she was willing to put us on the list for a table in the main dining area. I accepted her kind gesture and continued to wait for bar lounge seating to open up. A couple was kind enough to come over to us and ask if we were waiting for bar lounge seating. They offered their table to us as they were ending their night. There was a 2 man band playing in the lounge area that was very soothing to the ear. As I tried to help my mother get comfortable at the hightop table, I noticed she was having a difficult time getting seated in such a high chair. Guess who came to the rescue, you guessed, Claudia! She's the best, 100 grand, made me a real fan. So she came over and said our table was ready if we wanted a booth seating and we all know that's the best seats in the house. All I could think is look at God. The wait wasn't even long either. 10 out of 10 for saving the day. In addition our waitress was such a sweetheart. I mentioned a white malbec I saw on the menu that I was astonish to see b/c I never knew of such a thing. She bought me a small glass to taste and my God, I am a true believer Jesus turned water into wine. Its so clear like water but the taste is amazing. The food is so delicious. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very personalable. Everyone cartered to us. You would have thought we were the Obamas or something. As we were stuffing our faces, Claudia comes around handing out roses to the men/boys to give to their dates. Complimenting my son and his daper outfit she hands him a rose and tells him to give it your mommy. At the moment he lights up with a big smile as if he paid for the rose himself. I can tell he felt like a gentleman and good that he could give his mother a red rose on Valentine's day. That small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I apologize for my essay, but they desired it. I love the service, the ambiance, the food, and service. I haven't seen my mother smile so much in a while. At about the 10 minute mark, one lady is passing said "your server will be right with you...but 5 minutes later, we still hadn't even been asked for a drink order. So we up and left. The lady I assumed was the manager (as she seemed to be doing most of the work), and the lady who was our waitress (I think) pointedly ignored us. There was plenty left over and we took some to go. We will be back.
