Baby back ribs dinner with coleslaw amd loaded baked potato
    Tamara S.

This was my first time dining at RIPs. My uncle loves their ribs, so I decided to try it out for date. The staff was friendly and our server was very nice. My friend was disappointed in his food, which was the meatloaf meal. His loaded mashed potatoes were dry (needed butter), and the gravy on the meatloaf was not tasty. (I tried myself). Needless to say he was disappointed about his food, and this was also his first time to RIPs as well. I ordered the ribs, loaded baked potatoe, and coleslaw. Ribs were pretty good, could have used a little more seasoning, but over all it was okay. Loaded baked potato seemed like they threw the cheese on top and put under the broiler, because the toppings came out crisp. The coleslaw was heavy mayonnaise based, which was not good to me. I didn't even taste a little vinegar. I had the fried pickles for an appetizer, didn't get the horseradish sauce. They were okay. Overall, okay on the food, but not on my top list to return unfortunately since its close to home.

Whenever in the area I recommend stopping by for a bite . The service is great , [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibe inside is clean and intimate[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . The blueberry pancakes had too many blueberries ( if that's possible) , the turkey sausages were delicious ious and the omelet was amazing . The price for everything was definitely reasonable.

Grabbed a bite to eat at Rips the other day. We started out with a cup of cream of crab soup. The soup was creamy with pieces of lump crab meat on top. It was pretty good. The we had the fish and chips and their version of a French dip. The fish and chips were a little costly, but you got two nices pieces of fish(need more seasoning) fries and coleslaw. The dish was nice and hot. The French dip was basic beef(need more seasoning) and cheese on a sub roll. It came with au jus for dipping, fries. The service was good, but then again the restaurant was not busy. The menu seems a little pricey, but I think Rips is worth a try.

This is one of my favorite spots to visit anytime of the day! I'm never disappointed breakfast, lunch or dinner. Rips just never misses. The food is always fresh. The service is always great and the whole eating in a stable thing...well... Let's talk about that later! The seafood here is why I keep coming back. It's fresh and done well. That's it and that's all. Portions will keep you satisfied. Listen if you're in the area and haven't tried Rips at least once... you're missing out. Stop by! Oh and get the liver and onions and the meat loaf heck! Get a couple of entrees

"He's not coming back," Robert McCall asserted after sliding a broken, bloody pair of Aviator-style glasses onto the table in front of Teddy, Alexander Pushkin's enforcer for the East Coast, Russian Mob. "Had enough?" McCall asked. "You certainly have my attention." "Because I can keep going. Brick by brick. Dollar by dollar." McCall paused to spread a napkin across his lap, before continuing. "Body by body. Or you can call your boss and tell him to shut down his operation. Tonight." "That's not much of an offer." "That's the only one you're gonna get. When you pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too." With his stoic, matter-of-fact, yet punishing delivery, Denzel Washington's McCall lets Martin Csokas's Teddy in on a secret: McCall is the one who should be feared. But what if this threat-filled exchange didn't occur in a posh, Boston restaurant with violins serenading the patrons? What if McCall and Teddy stared down each other in one of the comfy booths of Rip's Country Inn, located at 3809 Crain Highway in Bowie, Maryland, as plates of their mouthwatering Maryland Fried Chicken; tender, gravy-soaked Rip's Meatloaf; and piping, hot bowls of their ingredient-filled Maryland Crab soup and Cream of Crab soup were ushered in front of them? One thing's for sure. McCall wouldn't have touched his stopwatch.

In all the years I have been in MD, my first time dining at Rips was for a private work event. The crab dip was decadent and divine. The pita bread was warm and sinfully delicious. I was so satisfied with my appetizer that I opted for the salmon salad as a main course. It was generous and bursting with flavor. I love the fried green tomatoes and avocado. The server assigned to our event was swift and pleasant. The mixologist was on point too! I would come back for more.

Surprisingly the deli is the start of this place. Ive been quietly hitting this spot for some time now. The Italian sub is the show here, it comes with peppercini and anchovies. The Latin/Hispanic ladies still help me with my español so service is still top notch. Whats is nice we sat out side at thier nice low key benches to eat and debated is it a Sub or Hoagie

About 1/2 full side of thick (lots of flour) gravy.

Today I'm at RIP'S for breakfast. Portions were good but no seasoning on the potatoes/omelette. Just a bland breakfast.

You order at the end, and find a seat. Your name is called and you pick up at the side counter. The dining area has plenty of seating, a private room looks available to reserve? Dining area & restrooms are bright, clean and inviting. My brother ordered fried fish with a chicken wing,, cabbage and sweet potatoes. He loved the fish & chicken- well seasoned without feeling your blood pressure rise as you indulged- LOL. The sides were good. I did the smothered porkchops - WOW, best that I have had - really enjoyed the main entrée and my sides (greens, black-eye peas). Both meals came with cornbread (another option was a biscuit). I have to say the food, the Staff and the establishment has been my best taste of southern cooking in the DMV area. I ordered chicken wings (6) to go for wife & I to enjoy later. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back - The smothered chops are calling me already. Lunch for two with a take home order of wings & 2 deserts plus tip was around $100.

The fish (catfish and croaker) always tastes like it's been fried in grease that needs changing. There's no flavor profile in the food which is weird for a soul-food restaurant. The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).

We'd never experienced in-person the yumminess & what a treat I was looking forward to incur. At this location, access is available for the persons w/disabilities as there is an elevator or the stairs - I often think this is poignant in reviews as it's often missed. We were greeted as soon as stepping off the elevator with great sounds from chatter from a private party, a live DJ (who was doing his thing - a vibe setter), a cheerful hostess & immediately after being seated by a bubbly server who made some wonderful recommendations. The decor is a space where one feels as BELONGING, with culture of art available for purchase. The restaurant has outdoor seating & private areas for availability, a full scale bar & allow me to say this - the bartender was on point with our drinks of the biscotti espresso martini (my selection) & cherry blossom lychee margarita (my son's selection), we had our choices of water & sparkling water. Where things went left & downhill from there was the venue's central air was broken, so there was a household isolating fan w/in a foot of our table which would blow our table contents about & did absolutely nothing for the cooling of the atmosphere! Our appetizer was the Honey Old Bay w/ Goddess sauce 6 Jumbo sticky wings, however they were half cooked in the manner of tough to bite off the bone. Next, our entrees were pieced out of the kitchen and served separately meaning, I was served my choices of Crispy Salmon Hash (there wasn't a taste of the spinach cream or cajun cream sauces - only heavily cheesey in attempt to soften the dryness/fried hard shredded potatoes) & an ala carte of Collard Greens. The portion of salmon could've been a bit larger and the said "hash" less dry & crispy (burnt) around the edges, as it was not one's norm of hash - simply shredded potatoes. The collard greens were not deveined or shucked (IYKYK) and very oddly seasoned salty. My son's entree of The Tail of Two Fish (fried catfish - a bit over fried) w/1 side of macaroni & cheese. Ten minutes later my son's catfish was served, wonderfully sized portions and I had to make several inquiries w/other servers, for his mac & cheese then given an excuse that, "the kitchen is behind due to a larger party being served in the back" and she was sorry - yet hid due to this lateness, instead of coming to make amends or another offering. We were now sweating profusely, over halfway finished our food, his mac & cheese arrived, again oddly seasoned salty. Tips for venue - FIX YOUR CENTRAL AIR and turn off your isolating fans (that's germy - yuck, we did it for you)! Hire more staff to cook equally for private parties and dining in guests. Serve all the party at a table at the same time. Lay off the odd tasting salty seasoning, devein as well as shuck your greens, "southern" hash is NOT shredded dried up & crispy potatoes, & portion size your salmon a bit larger. Inspect your silverware before seating guests, clean up after other guests whom have left from their tables as food remained on the floor at our neighboring tables in view (eyesore). And having to request paper napkins & more water is lacking etiquette, especially when having sticky wings while seeing the cloth napkins on our laps, or no offerings of, if other utensils were needed. All in all, we both have mixed feelings, not knowing if this is a one off, or simply just this particular peculiar location & staffing?! Be that as it may We will NOT chance it at $150, as disappointment is heavy on this experience, although my son & I had laughs for the ride home for sure!

The steak was tender, the eggs were cooked just right, and the chimichurri brought a fresh, herby brightness that balanced the richness of the dish. If I had one small note, the potatoes could have been cooked a little more for a crisper texture, but it didn't take away from the flavor of the dish at all. The overall taste was still very strong, and the components worked really well together. The pancake was another highlight. Huge, fluffy, and beautifully browned, with chocolate chips throughout and just enough sweetness to make it feel indulgent without going overboard. Simple, classic, and very well done. Service made the experience even better. Bria was personable, attentive, and genuinely pleasant throughout the meal. She kept everything moving smoothly and added to the welcoming feel of the visit.
