I didn't expect to find bold Mediterranean flavor tucked away in downtown Chambersburg, but Falafel Shack flipped the script on me--and I'm not mad about it. The place is cozy, like someone turned their living room into a street food haven. It's casual, vibrant, and smells like cumin, garlic, and magic. Staff was chill but attentive. You can tell they care about the food and the people eating it. That combo's rare. Final verdict: if you're anywhere within driving distance of Chambersburg and don't try this place, you're missing out. Hard. Go hungry, leave happy, and maybe get extra falafel to go--you'll thank yourself later

When my sister told me that we were driving an hour to get lunch I wasn't sure if the trip was going to be worth it but boy was I wrong! everything was so good we got the garlic hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel sandwich, shawarma sandwich and Persian love cake. Everyone was amazing! The restaurant cool, a little small but cozy and has street parking.

It was a delicious experience, the lamb kabob is tasty. The establishment is a bit small but they have seating downstairs and upstairs.

Amazing food and hospitality. We stopped in for the pizza and ended up ordering half of the menu.

Been here many times since 2022, nice place, good food, always has a good crowd, service is sometimes moody, Ike today for example. I generally order the same things here and in other similar places so I can easily compare any differences that may make one place better than another or not. Today I decided not to get the falafel platter sandwich and the other stuff I normally did because I didn't want a huge lunch. Instead I got just the "other stuff" (hummus, pita, tabouli) and just two a la carte falafel balls Instead of the 3 that would have been included with the platter which offers more volume of everything on the platter. That way I made my own falafel sandwich NYC style (which doesn't have pickle, etc. that this place includes for example). As usual all of the food I ordered was great. I also had the shorba soup, which is always fantastic here. My friend ordered the falafel burger and loved it. The price I moderate high on some items but not out of bounds. They make most if not all of their food in house, so it's fresh and good. The only downsides are the few wobbly tables making eating challenging, the rush of cold air that comes in every time the entrance door is opened or closed, and the sometimes moody or clueless server here or there. For example, both of us ordered hot tea because of it being rainy and cold outdoors and a little chilly indoors. We received the water and tea bags and found the tea never steped. Why? The water was warm at best. When we told the server she said it boiled. Maybe it did for a minute but it wasn't hot enough to step tea. We had to almost draw a picture that we want hot tea not ice tea in order for her to understand telling us it boiled once upon a time wasn't the answer or service we expected. I also specifically told the server when I ordered my meal I wanted the soup first then when I was done with it, I wanted the hummus, pita, falafel and tabouli. She asked me the question if I wanted just the soup first. I said yes. Instead I received the entire meal at the same time, which means either the hot stuff gets cold or the col stuff gets hot. Neither works well for me and also increases, albeit slightly, the risk of foodborne illness. I emphasized to the server I specifically asked for the soup first then the rest late. Instead of doing something about it, the server simply said, "that's the way I put the order in." I'm unsure what that meant precisely. Did she put it in the way I asked or did she put it in so it all came out together? Overall I highly recommend this establishment.

House soup - Shorba. The pita is NOT GF (this was hub's). The Shorba is GF and delicious!

First, a disclaimer: I used to live here... In fact, the last year I lived here I lived 2 1/2 blocks from this place. We were one of the first patrons when they opened the brick & mortar location several years ago. So I may be biased, but having been clear across the country 3 times now I can HONESTLY say this is hands-down the BEST Middle Eastern food (dare I say of ALL ethnic food eateries? ) I've ever had. Ever. They cater to allergens, including gluten-free and vegan. The staff is always responsive, and if you eat there often they get to know your favorites. Their specials are ALWAYS delicious. I used to tell people who asked me what to get there, "Open the menu, close your eyes, and point." Because you really can't go wrong and you must eat here often enough to try all the things! I also love having seen how their place has grown. Their tables have the logo engraved on them now, which is added fun. They feature a rotation of local art on the walls, which you can take home with you by scanning the QR code and buying it right online... and their tech is a lot more efficient with hand-held ordering devices that can take payment right at the table (this was a necessary upgrade with how busy they can get). If you plan to eat on a weekend, I highly recommend reservations or you may end up waiting a while. And if you have a big group or want to do a special event, their upstairs room is ADORABLE and perfect for small or large private parties! Oh and they'll also cater your event. So get yourself there and try them - they're the bright spot in middle-of-nowhere Chambersburg! You can thank me later.

Good food! Relaxing atmosphere! What a nice oasis in hectic Breezewood!…read more We were skeptical to try this place. It just seemed unlikely we would find "real" food in this Pennsylvania pretzel-like junction between I-70 and the PA Turnpike filled with a collection of gas stations and fast food called Breezewood. And then there's Moe's Sultan Food restaurant! It serves really delicious freshly-made food from a vast menu, with European and Mid-eastern dishes alongside all-day breakfast and some standard American burgers and fries and soup and salad, and even some vegan selections! We had $6 delicious hot borscht, a classic bright-red Ukranian tomato-beet soup of potatoes and shredded cabbage and carrots, deliciously seasoned with onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. It was a chilly day (Dec 2025), and this light broth with hearty vegetables was the perfect meal. It came with a large warm fresh pita bread. We also got a cute little $3 pot of steeping Baghdad tea with cardamom, the very definition of cozy :-) We had a huge $10 wrap of freshly mixed freshly fried chickpea falafel, lightly crispy outside, tender and moist inside. The wrap was stuffed with veggies and a deliciously creamy tahini sauce. It was so large that we only finish half here, and carried the rest along for a later snack. This was better-made falafel than most restaurants near home, and I think that's because it is literally made fresh when you order it. This is a somewhat time-worn restaurant with seating for 50 in simple comfortable booths. They cleverly shade the windows with bright colorful screen-prints that, on the i side, present international views that are illuminated by sunlight through the windows, but completely screen you from the stream of vehicles and the landscape of gas stations. The counter where you pay has many packaged foods, including regular snacks and some international ones. Mara and a table-server made us feel welcome. For us it was a 30-min stop, because each item was made-to-order. When we want to relax a few minutes with really good food, this is now our go-to in Breezewood. Delicious and peaceful.

Appreciate you can try different sauces to dip your fries or add to your sandwich or bowls. Only reason they didn't get a 5 star on this last visit was how long it took to get our order. It was a Saturday night, so we did mobile ordering and pickup. It said it would be ready within 3-15 minutes. I arrived 12 min after our order was placed. They were quite busy - and seemed the two employees working were a bit overwhelmed. There were a few people waiting for food, a line to order, they were out of containers for sauces, and some of the sauces were empty. I ended up waiting for an extra 25 minutes until I asked to check on an order - it was apparent from their reaction, our order got lost in the shuffle. Once they realized, they made it right away, which was appreciated. However, they grabbed a bag of fries that had been sitting on the counter since I walked in - so they were cold. Good thing - they do great in the air fryer! I've never experienced these issues before and it won't stop me from returning, definitely felt like a bit of an off night for them. Solid food, great cause, and one of the best affordable options for a quick bite at the Wharf! Recommend them!

It's accessible with plenty of parking nearby, including several disabled parking spots right out front, is absolutely beautiful inside with stunning black-and-white tiles adorning the counter (where you can order -- although there is also a screen-type ordering system in the entryway, as well) wall, enticing photos of all the important things in life -- those being fresh figs, olives, spices, and unfiltered coffee being poured, all along the wall above the tables with most comfortable seating! There are Turkish plates and copper pots hung above, as well, to give a splendid feeling of how food can be heartily prepared and beautifully served -- and beautifully served it is here! The caffeine-free mint tea comes in a gorgeous metal pot and is drunk from a glass glass (meaning a glass made of glass, not ceramic) with eye-catching decorations that will help to bring you into the spirit of the meal you are about to have .... The Quinoa Tabouli Salad with Falafel is spectacular! It's standout amazing, delicious, refreshingly oh-so-fresh, crispy, crunchy, yummy -- how many good-to-great things can I say about it? If I keep complimenting it as much as it deserves, you might get bored, ha ha! You might think that I'm exaggerating. I'm not. Of course, it's possible I'm biased and have tastes that just happen to align with this particular falafel spot's way of preparing things -- but I think not! I think this is objectively over-the-top in greatness! The District Salad is equally splendiferous and worth your time to indulge in savouring every bite. There are so many great-looking things here I can't wait to try! I must taste the Shorbat Adas (puréed lentil soup), (non-quinoa) Tabouli, Toom, and many other things here! The variety is very wowing! Most places just don't give you this variety in terms of various dishes or the variety within each dish that this place does -- and that contributes greatly to not only your appetite but also your health. So much care is clearly put into everything here from the décor to the drinks to the hospitality. It's really like a mini, super-tasty trip to the Near East -- and welcomes everyone equally. I'm so glad I stopped in! I can't wait to go back! Highly recommended! Very much deserving of an absolute, all-around Yay! :-D (By the way, from a not-falafel fan I know: 'You know I'm not a fan of falafel, but that was really good -- everything! We need not ever go back to the other place -- even if it's free!' What better endorsement could there be?)
