It just seemed unlikely we would find "real" food in this Pennsylvania pretzel-like junction between I-70 and the PA Turnpike filled with a collection of gas stations and fast food called Breezewood. And then there's Moe's Sultan Food restaurant! It serves really delicious freshly-made food from a vast menu, with European and Mid-eastern dishes alongside all-day breakfast and some standard American burgers and fries and soup and salad, and even some vegan selections! We had $6 delicious hot borscht, a classic bright-red Ukranian tomato-beet soup of potatoes and shredded cabbage and carrots, deliciously seasoned with onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. It was a chilly day (Dec 2025), and this light broth with hearty vegetables was the perfect meal. It came with a large warm fresh pita bread. We also got a cute little $3 pot of steeping Baghdad tea with cardamom, the very definition of cozy :-) We had a huge $10 wrap of freshly mixed freshly fried chickpea falafel, lightly crispy outside, tender and moist inside. The wrap was stuffed with veggies and a deliciously creamy tahini sauce. It was so large that we only finish half here, and carried the rest along for a later snack. This was better-made falafel than most restaurants near home, and I think that's because it is literally made fresh when you order it. This is a somewhat time-worn restaurant with seating for 50 in simple comfortable booths. They cleverly shade the windows with bright colorful screen-prints that, on the i side, present international views that are illuminated by sunlight through the windows, but completely screen you from the stream of vehicles and the landscape of gas stations. The counter where you pay has many packaged foods, including regular snacks and some international ones. Mara and a table-server made us feel welcome. For us it was a 30-min stop, because each item was made-to-order. When we want to relax a few minutes with really good food, this is now our go-to in Breezewood. Delicious and peaceful.

Falafel Shack is my favorite restuarant! They're a trendy little place located in our town square. When i say little i mean little but thier food has bigger than life flavor! Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine that is insanely good! Seriously, EVERYTHING on the menu is amazing, locally sourced, high quality food, that doesn't break the bank. Filled with amazingly kind and genuine people that have a passion for food. The smell of falafel balls, fresh pita, curry and shwarma drifting down the street drawing you into a restuarant that makes you feel loved and welcomed evey single time you walk through that door. The first time i saw them was at our local farmers market when they were just selling a few items out of their food truck. Now they have grown so much and deserve recognition for their hard work and killer food. True foodies run this restaurant. They began with a booth at the local farmer's market, upgraded to a food truck, and finally opened their brick-and-mortar in the square in Chambersburg. Tastefully decorated, comfortably seated and aesthetically pleasing, the food is there to match. Care goes into the preparation of food on a daily basis. Owners and staff are all kind-hearted and it shows in their efforts. Traditional middle eastern cuisine, combined with rotating international foods, excellent pizza, and the best hummus one is likely to ever eat. Hands down, my favorite restaurant EVER. The family who owns this is amazing, they clearly love what they are doing and use food to show love to the world. Bringing lots of flavors and tastes of the world to their hometown in South Central PA, they make amazing and delicious one-of-a-kind dishes that we love to taste and enjoy. Any day Mr or Mrs. Falafel are experimenting with a new dish or dessert is a good day to rush over and try the special. The nice thing about Falafel Shack is that it's right on the roundabout, so it's passed by hundreds if not thousands of people everyday. I personally always wanted to go to this place because I thought it seemed interesting on passing. I was absolutely proven right when I ate here for the first time. It's a unique place for this area, with foods you can't get anywhere else. Not only that, but the pita and chai tea are especially good, they're personal favorites of mine. I rarely leave reviews but I appreciate when others offer their opinions on a restaurant so that I can try the best local food. The food from the Falafel Shack is absolutely delicious. The food is fresh, with exciting flavors and there are vegetarian and vegan options as well! The owners and staff are warm and welcoming and it is obvious they enjoy making the highest quality food for you to enjoy.
