Was having a falafel craving so I looked around and Falafel House got good reviews and was close. Stopped in at lunchtime and no line. Ordered a falafel pita and it was ready in 5-10 minutes. Came with hot sauce on the side. Pita was good but could have used more falafel. Hot sauce was the best and I was dipping every bite before eating. Nice people and good Sammy. read more

We were in Towson and wanted some Shawarma, Hummus and discovered this hidden gem. We ordered the Lamb and Chicken Shawarma combos. Lamb/Chicken were tender and cooked/seasoned just right. Rice, Hummus and salad were tasty. We got an extra order of Hummus and Baba Ganoush as well Tabouli Salad and all were happy with their selections. Service was fast and friendly. Good food for reasonable price, fast-casual type place. Falafel pita was good--not greasy or heavy, dressed with some onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle. Comes with a tahini sauce and a spicy sauce. The spicy sauce is actually spicy, not "American spicy"! I liked the tahini sauce on the sandwich. The baba ganoush was really good! Fluffy, smoky, tangy, and not heavy or greasy. The stuffed grape leaves were pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the makdous at first--they were ok, but sour for my taste. I didn't realize they are actually pickled eggplants when I ordered them! However, I later realized that they come with pita bread and are good eaten with bread (I had originally eaten it straight). Also really enjoyed the pistachio cookie. It seemed to have some rose water in it, and it wasn't overly sweet. The baklava was pretty good but didn't knock my socks off. Would be happy to return. Parking: there's some street parking and some public lots, but you may need to pay. read more

Come here!! This is the best quick and consistently delicious lunch spot. I get a falafel wrap every time, and it's always perfect. Fresh and delicious falafel. Such good flavors. The menu is the perfect size, but with sodas/drinks, Mediterranean deserts, and hand scooped ice cream, there's a lot to choose from. It's spacious and there's lots of tables, and everyone working is always very nice and accommodating. I go here at least once a week during school semesters. One of my favorite places. read more

Nope! It's a no for me. I passed this place while driving to Target and decided I wanted to stop and give them a try when I left. I had a friend with me that's never tried Mediterranean food before. I told her she was in for a treat. I ordered us both Chicken Shawarmas to go. They were open for indoor dining by the way, but we opted to take it home. Both wraps came with a small container of tzatziki and maybe sriracha, I'm not totally sure. Neither sauce was very flavorful. This was also the case with the chicken shawarmas. The chicken was so dry and so bland. It taste like it was overcooked and reheated a few times. No crunch at all to the lettuce and the pita was chewy, not toasted or warmed in the least. My friend, again who has never tried Mediterranean food didn't like it at all. I'm sure there's plenty other options in the area. read more

Really, really good. We ordered chicken, beef and kofta kabobs along with a side of tabouli salad. Everything was great. The kabobs were flavorful and well cooked and came with a delicious white sauce and (actually) spicy red sauce. They also came with some amazing hummus. Everything was fresh and made there. How do I know? I saw the owner making my tabouli. Before serving it he brought it out and offered me a taste to make sure it had enough spice for me. Great service. Random but they also had a wide variety or ice cream, which my 9 year old appreciated! Don't pass this place up. read more

One middle eastern restaurant missing on middle eastern flavors. Craving some falafel, I sampled some of the takeout at the falafel house. While the prices affordable and the portions decent, the food all came out bland, lacking in spices and texture. For starters, I ordered the hummus and babaganous appetizers with extra pita. Both hummus and babaganous were mostly liquid and lacked the spreadable quality that I typically experience with middle eastern spreads. Flavor wise, they both tasted strongly of lemons. It wasn't bad, but it felt like I was missing out on the traditional flavors of cumin and garlic found in most hummus and babaganous. On an odd note, both spreads were topped with a mysterious purple spice. I have no idea what it is, and I couldn't taste anything from them. The pitas that came with the dish were similarly tasteless and had a wet, rubbery texture. For my main course, I ordered both the lamb shawarma and falafel platters. The lamb was dryer than expected, almost overcooked, with little to no seasonings. Once again, it was serviceable, but I missed the strong Mediterranean flavors that I'd expect in this type of dish. The falafel was probably my favorite part of the meal. Texture wise, it was spot on, with a soft fluffy interior and crispy exterior. The taste was once again lacking, as I really wanted more garlic flavor. Both platters came with a generous helping of rice, which wasn't flavored, and some Israeli salad, which lacked any citric elements. As someone with a love for middle eastern food, I was disappointed at the lack of mouth tantalizing flavors from this establishment. read more

I was really excited to try this place because I love middle eastern food. I ordered the lamb shawarma platter and it was ready within 10 minutes. The lamb was really delicious (even the very well done pieces); however, the hummus was lacking flavor and the rice didn't add much much to the overall taste. I was not crazy about the flavor of the white sauce but it was acceptable. Usually the white sauce is the highlight of halal food and most people cover their food in it - I used it sparingly. The pita was warm and fresh, but I only ate a little since I don't care for wheat bread. The food was adequate, but I'll continue to go to the halal guys and spend half the money I spent here and it tastes a lot better. read more

Stopped here for quick lunch and was not disappointed. Nice family run restaurant with father & daughter working the day we stopped. Chicken kebab was tasty and super tender. Hummus was fresh and garlicky. Cucumber/tomato salad was also freshly made. Generous portions....we could have easily split the double meat platter for two people. Général ambience was perfunctory . . There was a large glass storefront, some tables and chairs around and a curved high bar and bakery case in front harboring the cooking area behind it. Nothing special. With a lot of light like that, you better keep it all clean. It was pretty clean. My falafel arrived nicely hot and fried up without greasiness. My friend thought it was spicy, but it hardly raised the dial for me. A small cup of yogurt dip sat in the middle of six balls. The Turkish coffee was not as rich and tasty as some, but had good strength. How would I know if the falafel was freshly formed and cooked or from a frozen batch? I don't know at the moment, but it was all ok. The only criticism I have is fluidity of service. Our orders were taken promptly, but the people's order that came along after us interrupted our order being prepared as quickly as it might have. I understand that there was a fairly new employee. Nevertheless, a restaurant has to decide whether it is fast food or leisurely dining. Since our parking stubs gave us max just under an hour, it would hinder a slow careful meal. A good part of that problem goes with Towson/Baltimore County. Unless they get a proper parking situation for leisurely diners, it will drive those restaurants out in favor of grab and go or walk in. When I go back I will park for carry out if I want to eat my meal in a leisurely way. I don't have a grab and go stomach, and I would like to have more time for talking to my friend. read more

Halal at it's best. Great middle eastern food with wonderful staff service. Had the lamb shawarma platter. Came with rice, hummus, tomato salad, pita and a free bowl of soup. Also had the falafel. The daughters are always playing Taylor Swift (which is obviously... perfect) and the owners are super nice. The food is amazing... It came with 2 dressings in small containers and they were watered down. Even after pouring it over my food it made no difference in taste. I had to add salt and pepper to give my food some kind of taste. My coworker ordered a lamb wrap and he said it was "okay". His pita was stale and hard. This is the WORST Arabic restaurant I have ever been to. And I have been to plenty around the world. The food was beyond inedible...I rarely throw food away but this went straight to the trash it was so bad. I ordered the lamb shawarma well and a falafel platter. First of all, the meat is hard to chew, not seasoned correctly, and the veggies used in the wrap had to be two or three days old. The falafel was even worst. First their menu pictures are in accurate. No where does it say you get rice with your platter....who the hell eats rice with falafel?? The hummus had zero taste and was stale. No salt, no tahini, no. Flavor. The falafel had the weirdest spices mixed in. I have had enough in my lifetime to know these ppl can't make a falafel. Hell the white places make better falafels than this place. And the salad? The simplest thing to make...old, soggy, no dressing. What a waste of time and money. The freaking wrap alone is $10. You kidding right? I have never paid more than 5-6 dollars for a wrap including places like NYC. This place is just plain bad, save your money and your taste buds... read more

They just opened up and a true gem in the heart of Towson just steps away from the penthouse condos. The food is very fresh abundant and very filling, going here for the first time me and my dining partner tried various things on the menu and all were homemade very tasty and very fresh. The wrap sandwiches are huge the hummus is smooth and tasty and it's all so good. The platters are pretty big with a variety of food and the lamb was grilled and tender. basmanti rice is served The Arabic pastries are incredible. And best of all they are open till late night And do try the sage tea!! Just go here and try it all cuz it's all so good. read more

I have always loved this place for their Kofta. Had my first carryout in a few months last night and Kofta was tough and not as flavorful. Not sure why...definitely less parsley and seasoning. But the texture was really disappointing. Hummus and harissa hot sauce was still excellent. Rice, although it looked darker than before, was still tasty. Hope they get it together with the kofta. I heard it changed hands recently, so not sure I will return. read more

When I first saw signs for a falafel place in Towson I was excited. The food there is quite tasty, and I'll be going back. However, the service level leaves a few things to be improved upon... The good part about Falafel House is the food. They have excellent tasting food. The falafel is soft and warm. The sage tea (with spices from Jerusalem) is tasty. The Lamb Shawarma tempts you as it rotates on a vertical rotisserie in the kitchen. The hummus is great too. Four stars for food. On the other hand, the staff does not seem to know what to do yet. There were five employees hanging around the kitchen but only one seemed to be doing any cooking, which lead to a 20+ minute wait with just four other customers waiting. One time, an employee set up a PC laptop and started playing loud middle eastern music. I wouldn't have minded if it weren't so loud. Finally they didn't have the ordering system down in the times that I went. The "Order Here" sign isn't where they take orders, so if you wait there, someone else will order before you at the other end. Two stars for service. The store is odd mix of old and new. Drop ceiling with some classic looking lighting. New granite bar up front, but an unfinished plywood counter in the back. They have one of those stock photo type menus, as the actual food is served in styrofoam and foil. There is a bakerie type display case with refrigerated items inside. Though the food inside tastes good, it isn't presented in an appealing way. I've seen some of the staff at the hookah bar that used to occupy this site (and moved), so it seems like a new business venture by the same owner. If they could just get someone in there that knows how to run a restaurant, they'd be top stuff. Overall three stars. read more

I've perpetually been on a hunt for good Mediterranean food ever since I went to Israel more than 4 years ago, so when I found out about this local spot I was dying to try it. I recently drove with my husband and friend 8+ hours to Michigan for schwarma and falafel haha. The fact that she was moving stuff out of her old apartment was just a excuse to make the trek. The interior is open and clean with plenty of natural lighting and the service is friendly. We ordered the hummus with pita which came with a small plates of pickles and everything was really fresh and good. The texture of the pita bread was like the one I had in Israel and brought back a lot of memories. The falafel wrap and schwarma were both good yet not on the level that makes me crave wanting to come back every week. The falafel was made well, but it was really the sauce that was a little lackluster. There just wasn't enough of the flavor coming through which made it difficult to finish the whole wrap without the handy side of hot sauce that they give you. I'm used to falafel and schwarma having a rich flavor that's slap you in the face good. Not bad though, so I will definitely come back at some point to try their other options! read more

I was excited to try this place given the decent reviews it has received online. Walking in, it largely seemed like a take-out place, but they did have a small seating area for dining in, order-at-counter style. I ordered the falafel platter, which comes with 4 falafel balls, hummus, rice, salad, and soup. The bowl of soup was pretty disappointing, in a pretty thin broth with broken up lentils; I had to add some black pepper to make it more palatable. The falafel balls were pretty satisfying, and their smooth hummus with olive oil was decent. The rice was lightly seasoned, the pita bread was pretty standard and potentially store-bought, and the salad was not particularly memorable. They also served a white tzatziki-type or tahini sauce, although it basically just tasted like yogurt. They also served some thick hot sauce, which was actually wonderful, balanced well between heat and flavor, although I am unsure which type it was. For this quantity of food, it was pretty reasonable at ~$9. It definitely was not extraordinary enough for a 5 rating, but given the price point and quantity, it provided decent enough food that I may return if I were in the area. read more

I have to give this place 5 stars off the bat because of their excellent customer service. I love any place that I go and they will literally walk you through the menu to make sure you know exactly what you are getting. I came here and order the chicken schwarma platter, with rice and salad. It was very tasty. The meal could be a bit dry without sauces, so take advantage of the different options they give you along with your meal. I used the cucumber sauce, although they have a few others that I didn't really care for. They are mostly take out, but they do have a small seating area in the front that is very welcoming. I sat there and had my food. There is a hot pot of lentil soup that you can help yourself to as long as you have ordered a platter as well ( i love free ish! And the soup was bomb to top it off).
