As an ambulance company that is contracted with 911, Falck should be ashamed of themselves. They are out of network with every insurance and do not negotiate on bills to make it easier on patients. When you are in an emergency you have no choice but to be subjected to their care. You are at their mercy and they know how to take advantage of you! They take your child to the nearest hospital knowing that they will have to go to children's eventually just so they can charge you for "two" rides. They will send you a bill, settle that one and send you the other bill one a year later because they are sharks. Do I recommend them? No!!! You're better off driving yourself or your loved one to the ER. If you dial 911 beware of the bill that will follow. read more

The people who attended to me in the physical ambulance were great, friendly, and considerate. However, the customer service experience has been horrible each call. First representative accused me of trying to fraud them for an insurance payment that never came to me due to a processing error. Even after having my insurance call them with me in the call, the lady was still defensive and very rude. Another representative had an exasperated and rude tone throughout the call. I get it, customer service can be frustrating and you deal with a lot of energy draining people. But this went beyond that and into passive aggressiveness and dismissiveness despite maintaining a respectful tone myself the entire call. Next time, I'd rather wait for another ambulance or let myself expire than have to deal with this hassle. read more

This is my first experience using this Falk Ambulance Service. I called 911 Emergency Dispatch Services on Monday , May 9, 2025 at 9 AM because I wasn't feeling good for the past week and I also noticed that on my right leg that it was slightly swollen, all red and warm to the touch. I wanted to get my right leg checked out first in the hospital before my medical condition might get worse. It's better to be safe than sorry later on that's my motto. When I called the 911 Emergency Dispatch Service a woman dispatcher responded back to my phone call. I explained to this Dispatcher that I wasn't feeling good for the past week and I also felt lightheaded when I woke up last Monday, May 9, 2025. Then the woman dispatcher said she has dispatched a FALK Ambulance out to my house and these 2 EMT's whose names are Tyler this blonde haired guy with a large black tattoo on his left arm of a woman's face whose the ambulance driver and also his partner Arthur who has dark black hair and he speaks Spanish. I heard they had their siren turned on their ambulance so they can drive over to my home more efficiently on Monday morning. It took about 20 minutes drive for Tyler and Arthur these 2 EMT's which mean they are (Emergency Medical Technicians) to arrive at my house. This time these 2 EMT's came alone . I saw Tyler the ambulance driver he didn't want to park his ambulance in front of my front door due to the steep hill so he parked their Falk Ambulance at the next door neighbors houses driveway. That's the issue with where I live now a little of ambulance services refuse to park at the top of my driveway to make it easier for me the patient this Falk Ambulance Truck parked at the next door neighbor's Dee Dee's Apartment driveway that day. Then I was in my regular clothes and I was laying down on the living room couch until these 2 people Tyler and Arthur arrived at my house. After Tyler parked the Falk Ambulance in the neighbors driveway next door. Ryker and Arthur walked up the steep driveway way and they both walked into the front door. Tyler started to do an assessment on my medical condition. After Tyler made his decision that I was badly sick. Tyler then transported to the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA. I learned that EMT's, (Emergency Medical Technician's) have less education and less training than regular paramedics and firefighters who are more educated and have more medical experience meaning that a paramedic is authorized to dispense different medications to their patient and a paramedic can also start an IV in the ambulance if it's needed when an EMT cannot do this procedure. I also read these former Yelp Reviews in regard to this Falk Ambulance Company isn't a good Ambulance Service to use for us patients. I was treated okay by Tyler and Arthur. But there is one thing I want to mention in my Yelp Review that I believe was unprofessional in the comment that Tyler this Falk Ambulance Driver said to me. When I was transported to my preferred hospital which I said I wanted to be taken there is Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA, I saw that Tyler and Arthur both opened up the back on these double doors on their Falk Ambulance then I was wheeled in this gurney and transported to the Emergency Department Room in the hallway. I had to wait until the Emergency Room Doctor Hecht assigned me a room in order for me to stay in this ER Room while this Scripps Dr. Hecht asked me some questions about my serious medical condition. Okay so while I had to wait in the Emergency Room, I didn't mean my statement to Tyler but he misinterpreted the comment I said to him. I told Tyler that he and Arthur his partner can leave the Emergency Room now because I don't want to make him wait in the Emergency Room a longer time when he can be attending to another patient. Then Tyler this Falk Ambulance Driver said to me , Frances "YOUR NOT GOING TO GET RID OF HIM, THAT EASILY!" Then Tyler was laughing really hard at his own rude response back that he said to me. I realized from his rude reaction towards me this Falk Ambulance Company hires people who act unprofessional and they need more training in the Emergency Medical Technician Industry. Tyler's reaction towards me upset me. I also found out that Tyler and Arthur aren't allowed to leave for their next call until the patient like myself is assigned a Room in the Emergency Department first then Tyler and Arthur are waiting to take this gurney that I was using to lay down inside away from me so they can use this gurney for the next person when they have a phone call that comes in from the dispatch office. read more

Beware, they will try to "Falck" you. 4 months after calling 911 and being taken the hospital, I get a bill for ~$4000. They said my insurance only paid a small portion of the bill and I owe the remainder. My insurance company said I only owe a small deductible, they negotiated a discount with them and paid Falck the appropriate amount. Falck is attempting to collect more than they're owed. Falck how dare you? Taking advantage of people who have no choice in an emergency is reprehensible and makes you part of the health care crisis in the USA. They do not give their 24 hour shift EMTs legal rest breaks and put them in the field to work without proper breaks to sleep and many times EMTs have to call fatigue in order to go back to the station to get two or three hours of sleep. They think they are going to get away with it because of the union. But it's only a matter of time. This plus almost minimum wage pay. The only way their EMTs get by is by working 24 hour shifts to get the overtime. People put up with that because they want to work as a first responder as a fireman or doctor or police officer. I look forward to the day that Falck no longer gets away with this. I hope it doesn't require an EMT losing his or her life because of driving without proper sleep or a patient being affected. read more

Delayed billing is irresponsible! I rec'd my first bill Dec 2025 for ambulance ride October 2023! Two years and two months after the service date! Not one year, but TWO years! Twenty six months later. Clearly this is not an insurance payment issue, as I confirmed my insurance paid their part two years ago. I called 911 today to make sure I am not having a heart attack considering my many health issues. Not sure why FALCK ambulance was the one who ended up transporting me. One of the staff named LEON was rude, disrespectful and condescending. Which he did not have to be, most specially if the patient has heart palpitations and hypertension. He has tattoos on his head, hands, a goatee that is tied with a rubber band. Also several piercings. Which IS NOT the issue. I know people with tats and piercings who are WONDERFUL people. I just want to describe this employee in case he lied about his name, which won't come as a surprised because he is denying that the name of the company is FALCK, even if it was clearly saying so in his shirt. On 4/19/2021 my wife, was transported by Falck from Union City CA to Sutter Hospital emergency in Castro Valley. The EMT that was in possession of my wife's CA ID never returned the CA ID to my wife. I later confirmed with Sutter Hospital emergency room staff that the my wife's CA ID was not turned over to them by the Falck EMT. Within a few days I spoke with a woman you identified herself as a supervisor at Falck, the supervisor informed me that she would look into the matter with the EMT, she further said that she would have the EMT check her clothing at her home to confirm that she was not in possession of the CA ID. I received a call back from the Supervisor and the supervisor stated that the EMT could not locate the CA ID in her clothing or personal belongings at her home. To make matters worse, starting in Sept 2021 I started to receive collection letters from Falck asking for payment of services in the amount of $3,187.00. I contacted Falck and told them that our insurance had already taken care of bill. I finally reached out to our insurance carrier and confirmed that the payment for services was in fact paid by our insurance carrier on 6/23/2021. Sutter said that they would reach out to Falck and close the matter. I feel that Falck was attempting to collect a second payment from us after knowingly receiving payment from our insurance carrier Sutter Select on 6/23/2021. I plan to contact the Alameda County Emergency Medical Services District to report all of the above. read more

I was on the 60 East freeway around 6:30pm (03/15/2025) and suddenly a FALCK Ambulance with license CARE478 almost sideswipe me. I thought I missed the lights but he was just driving wreckless trying to cut me off so he won't be stuck behind a semi-truck. I had my kids in the car and slammed on my brake fast enough. Then this guy speeding in and out of traffic. I do not think the guy CARE at all! I can see why they get suck horrible reviews. read more

Fremont Fire Dept responded to my 911 call -fearful my husband was having a stroke. They called for an ambulance to take him to the hospital 2 miles from our home. Falck arrived quickly, took great care, had him there within 15 minutes. 2 weeks later we received a letter asking for credit card information - to pay an amount it said was disclosed on the 2nd page - which wasn't. I ignored it. Today a text from Falck with a link to their Payment Portal. Which prompted for a credit card to pay a $675.47 balance. I thought that was a fairly reasonable charge - so before paying checked our health insurance site and found their claim. Falck billed $3664.87 for the ambulance and $248.07 for mileage (roughly $62 per mile roundtrip) - total $3912.94. Insurance paid $3662.94, leaving our balance $250. Where did Falck come up with $675.47? Do they really think people are stupid enough to send credit card info without documentation? OR do they think if they come up with a bogus affordable looking number people will just pay it? It's unfortunate that the excellent Falck ambulance staff is betrayed by a greedy and manipulative billing department. Shame on them. read more

This is not a review for falck the company itself, but a review for one of their ambulance employees. My grandmother was having a seizure and the lady (I am going to find out her name soon and update) had accusations of my grandmother because she simply didn't want to do, nor can handle her job of giving my grandmother proper care!! She was rude and disrespectful giving wild accusations towards my mother and I hope she looses her job! They are supposed to care and save my grandmothers life instead play a blame game over some boxes that were in the house (due to moving) verbal and emotional abuse is what she gave my mother and I will not stand for that!!! Instead of focusing on saving my grandmother she wanted to pick on my mom and complain about having boxes in the house and dishes on the sink like what?! My grandmother passed away and she reported false accusations and made a case on my mother which by the way even the cops thought was unnecessary and very immoral!! Horrible. Alex, and his EMT team, overstepped and tried to send my 80 year old relative to the Highland hospital instead of her home hospital she and family requested. I feel this was racially motivated and/or they prefer the that hospital where they can dump patients and follow loose protocal. Alex would not give me his last name and and unnamed female coworker was heard telling my family member, "Don't listen to your family, let us take you to Highland). My relative ended up being hospitalized and needing surgery at her correct hospital. If Alex had prevailed, she would have been in a hospital she does not know with none of her medical history. I was transported by Falck after an injury March 2023. The claim submitted by Falck to my insurance had an error in my ID number. Falck REFUSED to correct the error and submit a corrected claim for a YEAR. I fought with Falck for a YEAR with no solution. Falck sent me to collections (Credence) for their $5000 invoice. I paid the bill through Credence. Falck continues to double bill me for this invoice. This ambulance company is unethical & corrupt. If they show up to transport you, refuse them!!! If your injuries are non-life- threatening, have a family member transport you. If you let Falck transport you, you will be stuck with a ridiculous invoice, and they will hound you and will send you to collections. They will not correct their errors and they will show you no compassion. Nothing is worth having to deal with this company. read more

I was treated with great care by the Falck medical emergency staff who came to my call last Saturday/Sunday morning when I fell and hit my head. This team was very thorough, very kind, and gently wrapped my bleeding head!!! I can't remember all the questions they asked, checking to see if I was coherent, and checked my vitals immediately. I don't know why they are getting bad reviews but I would not want to do this job. When people are hurt, they can lash out and take it out on whoever is around. Falck billed my daughter (a minor) over $3200 for the balance remaining after my insurance paid them a the "in network" amount. This is called "balance billing" - and it should not be happening in California - if Falck treat you this way then contact your healthcare plan provider and TELL them to sort it out with Falck! AB72 is a California law that should mean that we, the consumer, should NOT be put in the middle like this. This charge is between Aetna and Falck. Falck know that, of course, but they bill anyway hoping that people are underinformed about their rights. Also Falck should take note that a minor (a 14 year old) cannot enter into a contract and it just blows y mind they would think it is OK to send a bill to a child. One particular thing that I don't appreciate when it comes to public services like EMTs and police officers is that they bring people in from out of town or not from your local area. Typically when these EMTs are picking people up from Oakland or lower income areas they automatically stigmatize their condition from coming from drugs or alcohol they always assume you're drunk they treat you like your a waste of space they make you feel bad for asking for help. This particular ambulance gave me no time to gather myself to even get up and get to the gurney after multiple times of telling them that I don't drink they keep repeating and assuming that I in fact drink and they smell it on me when I had nothing but coffee that morning they're extremely impatient unprofessional and rude. read more

Is there a way to give negative stars? My wife was transported by Falck months ago. Because they don't have an agreement with Blue Cross, they sent us a huge bill. We called their billing department and were (miraculously) able to get through. We reached an agreement whereby we would pay what I believe is the insured's rate. We paid that in full within days of reaching that agreement. We continue to get bills from them and are unable to get through to them. What makes matters worse is that there is apparently no public agency that deals with this. I made five calls to different state and local agencies. they each referred me to another one. I then contacted our state senator, Nancy Skinner. Her office wouldn't even send Falck a letter asking them about it. I'm retired and in good health so I have the time and energy to deal with this and am not confused or intimidated by them. but for others? And the fact that there is no state agency or official that will deal with them? What a joke! read more

These two gentlemen were beyond awesome and very kind/helpful. We were really pleased with the professional service provided by M Bailey and N Merritt. I think they belong to Unit or Group 590. Transported by FALK on Friday 3/31/24 around 1AM. The EMT's that transported me had HORRIBLE attitudes and talk about the staff at Kaiser emergency San Leandro, from there talking about unit 32 and how bad one of them had attitude. They told me next time take myself to the emergency room if I didn't like it. I can't believe we have these types of peoples "transporting" and "saving" lives. It's no wonder why so many EMT's quit from FALK. They need a good deep clean of staff. SAD SAD SAD!! I'll just die next time. WORST ambulance experience ever. Why do our elected reps allow these people to remain in business! I am a senior who became dehydrated on park walk, And fainted In Orange County and my driver called an ambulance. i did not want to go but leader tricked me to get t into ambulance to check Vitals. I I ended up in Foothills Hospital in Orange. Billed $2,485.87 for short ride. Fortunately I had excellent insurance which covered this which was drastically reduced. Hopefully this review will expose this company gouging those who are not so fortunate to have good secondary insurance beyond Medicare. read more

Since then, I've received no less than 50 letters and 500 phone calls, sometimes 5 calls a day from their collections dept. They repeatedly park in the cross hatch space next to accessibility spaces which is illegal and violates the ADA. Disabled people who are wheelchair users or have mobility need need that space to exit and enter cars as well as get to the sidewalk. Be careful of this agency. They have a policy where the leave patients alone. They don't notify patients or the family when they do so. They have a hard off load policy which means they can leave loved ones anywhere without a nurse or MD approval. There is is a failure to patients and to communities. How can patients family call 911 you fail to provide care then bill their insurance and patients 1000 of dollars. This practice is not only fraudulent but dangerous. Got picked up with stroke symptoms but because I had one puff of marijuana 24 hours prior they treated me like shit. I was hypothermic and drenched in sweat and they took me to the ambulance with only pants on and the temp was 50 degrees that day. They threw a paper thin blanket at me that didnt cover my whole body then went and sat in the front of the ambulance leaving me alone. They tried to say i had gotten a bad batch and complained that they picked up someone with the same symptoms that day. My body temp was so low at the hospital that they couldnt get a temperature. They almost killed me because they decided i didnt deserve their service for something that wasn't even part of the issue. read more

Falck Ambulance was fast response. Last week my aunt needs to rush to the hospital due to being in active labor. It was a spontaneous labor and it happened so fast that my aunt delivered a healthy baby girl at home with the help of EMT people. They were so professional and then later transporting her and baby to Kaiser San Leandro. Without them, I couldnt image what would happen. Thanks to the whole team and great services. read more

Extremely unprofessional people work here. I had the misfortune of needing an ambulance once and it ended up being one by Falck. My insurance took care of the bill and I had a small co-pay which I paid. My insurance negotiates with each medical service provider and gets them to agree on a discounted rate before paying them or asking for me to pay a co-pay. I've dealt with a bunch of healthcare providers and my insurance managed to negotaite a lower rate almost every time. None of the other healthcare providers caused any problems since but Falck has asked a debt collector to ask me to pay the balance since they claim the discount was "unaithorized". My insurance says otherwise and I'm far more inclined to trust my insurance since at least two dozen other providers have been paid lower than their initial claim and never casued such problems. Now the debt collector is haggling me almost everyday even though my insurance is involved now and renegotiating. Next time I have to call an ambulance (may God forbid) and it says "Falck" I'd prefre to die than to use their services. read more

Falck ambulance took my son to the hospital in Fremont. The hospital was only few blocks away. At first, they sent the bill in the entire amount and demanded payment, despite having been provided the insurance information for my son. After they finally billed the insurance, there was a co-pay of about 850 dollars. I started making payments of $150 each month. After several payments, the last one being made 3 weeks ago, I received a notice from a debt collector asking for payment. It is unconscionable that they turned this bill over to a collection agency when in fact I had been making payments on it and intended to continue to make payments until it was paid in full. Also, charging $8,500 for an ambulance ride of a few blocks is shameful! Should you ever need their service and can call an Uber instead to take you to the hospital, I would really recommend that! read more
