This is a five star golf experience! The course, food and staff really couldn't be better. We had a group of 8 and I was able to make all the arrangements in advance. The staff was so accommodating and helpful. We bought one of their packages which included greens fees, breakfast tacos and two drink tickets. Breakfast tacos were outstanding. The course itself is beautiful. Lots of challenging holes and very well maintained. The greens were almost perfect and this was in January. Highly recommend this course and will be back to play it. They have two sister courses in the area as well. read more

Great course and a reasonable price. I went to Austin to stay at the Omni where they were asking $375 for a round at their course. I opted to visit Falconhead at a much more reasonable price. I did however have to pay for a 3rd that I originally booked even though he could not make it due to illness but that was clearly communicated when I booked the round with the course. Unfortunate but I was very aware. The course was fun, challenging and well kept for a public course. The greens were slow but were in such great shape, not the norm for a public course either. The driving range is small and just OK but it gets the job done. I would love to play there again when I'm in North Austin. read more

I was supposed to play a round with my brother in the morning only run into a unexpected circumstance where my brother's 14 month old baby was very sick in the morning and we drove to take him to urgent care and anxiously waited for the doctor. As such, we unfortunately had to cancel our tee time. Called them and explained the situation to them only to be given the standard response of "sorry but company policy, you will be charged in full" heard a lot of good things about this golf course but can see why it fails to reach 4 stars on google review. The people running it are tone deaf and I personally would be reluctant to support such an establishment. I'll also be sure to tell this story to my other golfing buddies as well. Its a shame that a great course is run by such people. You guys can keep the $400+ you guys charged me. I assure you that you will lose more money than that as far as future business is concerned after i tell my friends who go there every now and then. This is one of the many courses that was sold to the Koreans - everyone in this city is extremely upset about how they are handling it...they take all the early morning tee times & golf slow, they are hiking up the rates on everything significantly, they won't let our assistant get balls anymore at the range, etc. It's a hot mess & the talk of the town! I hope they are getting a cut of all the money they just made for the nearby country clubs - we are all mutually leaving this course. read more

Have played this course regularly since 2007. My last experience (Dec 8th) was bad. Rained a ton before my round so I tried to cancel (or at least get a raincheck). It was within 24 hours of my tee time. Pro shop wouldn't do either. Conditions were miserable. Flooded bunkers and fairways. I understand the cancellation policy, but when it comes to bad weather, you have to be more flexible. Not everyone wants to play in sopping wet conditions. Between this and stacking tee times every 9 minutes apart, Falconhead seems to care little about the customer experience. It's all about milking every dollar they can. Great place to enjoy golf. Challenging course, but greens are well kept and amazing Texas Hill country Scenes. Great range as well!

With a rough summer in Texas this course is in really good shape. Played a lot of different courses this summer and a lot of them are really struggling but this place had great fairways. Great tea boxes greens were in really good condition maybe two holes. They had a couple issues but overall great condition had a lot of fun. The views are amazing and you can never go wrong with first hole par three drop elevation Loved it me and my son had a great time and the price was right on to we will definitely be back! read more

My husband joined one of the memberships that doesn't include the full membership, but you are still able to use the chipping, putting and driving range. He has been playing with his friend and really likes going there. I have been going with him one day a week and really like it there. The driving range has a tracking system to help you work on your game. You can play games similar to those at Top Golf. It's a nice little place to work on your game. read more

This place has recently raised it prices and added zero other value. Heard from people that work there that they have many multiple hour gaps on weekdays that never get booked. $17 for a medium range bucket... $100+ for weekday round. For the price it's not worth it. Terrible experience. Worst golf value in Austin (stay tuned to the end for a warning about how they charged my card $386). This course is clearly in financial trouble. Has so much potential to be a good course but poor management is evident. Started with the rude young lady in the pro shop who overcharged us (the rate online was $119 and she charged us $149). Greens were unrolled and slow, tee boxes were recently sodded and patchy (also several temporary tee boxes). Weeds and tall grass everywhere. Dirt bunkers. We saw the cart girl one time the entire day and it took 10 minutes to buy a coke and some peanuts because her WiFi didn't work. The signature hole looks great online...in reality the water fall is broken and the landscaping is dead. When your signature hole is trash you know leadership is lacking. You know it's bad when the staff criticizes management without any prompting (course Marshall and pro shop employee). To top it off...they charged my card for $386 without my permission. At our scheduled tee time it was pouring down rain and lightning so we scheduled another tee time. After I had already left Austin, they charged my credit card the full price of the first reservation. I assumed it was a mistake. When I called the pro shop the young lady was clearly embarrassed by what was happening and gave me the GM's email ( Ben Carter) because he won't answer the phone. When he did email me back he took the ' "course policy" position in regards to the cancelation fee. To be fair...I totally understand the need for a cancellation policy but lets be real...They charged me the fee despite the fact that it was raining at the time of our original tee time and play was suspended...despite the fact that 2 employees that I spoke with in person didn't mention the policy....despite the fact that we played and paid in the same day...despite the the fact that the course was empty that day (no tee times were lost)...despite the fact that we were from out of town and not familiar with their ridiculous policy. If it wasn't for the two awesome guys we got paired with it would have been a miserable experience. Ha! I didnt even say anything about them pairing us up with other golfers when the course was empty!!!! Avoid this course at all costs. FYI... this is the first review ever written in my entire life. Falconhead has made GREAT improvements in the course conditions since the brutal summer. If you haven't played Falconhead in the last month, ignore any reviews before October and put more weight on the more recent reviews. The greens are in their best shape in years and the patchy and weedy collars have all been replaced with new grass. There is now ample sand in all the traps (I have been in almost all of them, so I know). The tee boxes are better, but still a bit patchy. I think it would help if there were boxes of sand or sand bottles on all the par 3 tee boxes so golfers could fill their divots after hitting. Being a senior, I strongly recommend that the white tee markers should be moved up to the red marker tee box on the par 4 5th hole as it isn't reachable in two from the back tee box...my group has reached the green in two shots less than 5 times on this hole in 1000+ rounds. Fairways are in as good condition. The areas where it would get too wet from watering has been resolved. One recommendation would be to allow carts onto the 7th fairway on dry days as that would easily shave 5 minutes or more off of a round. Prior ownership allowed this and there was never any damage to that fairway from carts. BIG thanks to head greenskeeper Mike for the improvements over the last few months! read more

Bad all around. Course with so much potential mismanaged - 5-6 hour rounds, sand on greens, not well kept, then tries to charge you $120. It's a shame because it's the only course around here. Managers are arrogant and inflexible. Rather than accepting a twilight round 5 mins before cutoff that was about to go vacant, Ben says "no way, our owners read our tee sheet" to which I said "so rather than $240 on a twilight rate you'll let it go empty for a course that is in bad shape?".... The brunette lady (manager) in the pro shop is a heinous human being who belongs nowhere near a golf course. Had another employee tell me about how rude she was as well, and you can feel it from all the other employees- everyone is miserable. Sad scene. Great example of how poor ownership/ poor management can ruin a decent course. Sad. Drive the extra 15 minutes and play Kissing Tree instead, much better! I've played this place many, many times, but it has gone straight to Hell. Staff that constantly disagrees with what was said yesterday, range closing at different times all the time, and no hitting on grass, just mats. The grounds are nice but the rounds are 5 plus hours, and they don't ever enforce anything like asking a group to speed up or skip a hole. They just don't care. Also, stay away from Players Club. If you ever try to cancel, they extort you for an extra month with your card on file just to leave the program. EDIT: since reaching out and asking if they could remove this bill, Ben the GM threated to charge me FOUR months of membership for when i played NO GOLF and never stepped foot onsite. He's threatening to charge me for that time. LITERAL EXTORTION COMING FROM MANAGEMENT. It's sad, because I've played here over 100 times back when it was run better. Buyer beware! Especially on weekends when green fees are over $100! This place is friendly (enough), well kept (enough), but in the several times I've been there I had a sense that something was off. I couldn't quite figure out what it was or why I had that feeling. And still I was puzzled as to why a relatively well maintained course with ample amenities and noteworthy features might be so lowly rated online. I now completely understand my feelings and the low rating. Falconhead Golf Club will gladly entrap you and steal from you. My brother, a first time golfer -- his blossoming love of the game explosively consuming in its infancy, as is so common to so many of us -- paid a pretty hefty price ($85) for a rental set of clubs and the additional course fees for the round. So with his personal investment of nearly $200 he (and I) set out on his first ever round in which he actually played and didn't just ride along with me. On his drive at the 17th -- as routine a swing as any other he'd made throughout the round -- the driver head detached from the shaft. The shaft was broken. This past March, in my first trip to the range after not playing for 11 months following a knee surgery, I did the exact same thing to my Ping driver. My driver's shaft was replaced -- essentially, for Free -- by the PGA Superstore. Bear in mind I have no relationship with The PGA Superstore or any club manufacturers beyond that of a general customer -- unlike, say how a top end public golf course might. When we returned the cart and rented set of clubs, the gentleman who supplied the rental, was in the cart return bay. He assessed the damaged club, asked my brother if he had retrieved all of the things from the rented bag and told us to have a good evening. At no point -- at the time of the rental or at the time of return -- did any staffer indicate that failed rental equipment (i.e., the driver shaft was already sporting two rounds of colored tape when we left the clubhouse) would be the responsibility of the lessee. No opportunity to insure the rental set was offered to my brother. Yet, somehow after returning the slightly damaged driver my brother awoke the day after our round to an additional $540 charge levied from his bank! This for a 3-4 yr old Callaway driver -- that could be fixed in 10 minutes or less, or that could be replaced by Falconhead's manufacturing partners, or by whatever insurance policy they have covering the course's property. So add to that the fact that the course representatives were rude when my brother called seeking clarity, and I happily rate this course eager and opportunistic in its willingness to steal from and mistreat potential long time customers, 1*. read more

I was surprised to see the amount of bad reviews on public courses all over greater Austin. Falconhead had some cheaper afternoon availabilities so I went for it. The grass of course was mostly dormant given the time of year and recent polar vortex that came through. I thought the course was mostly maintained fairly well. I don't think there's anything visually stunning about it with the exception of a few holes but it's nice. I'd categorize it as an intermediate course with a handful of sand trap-happy holes. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant so no issues there. Golf cart was fine. Parking lot was pretty big. Didn't try the food so can't comment there. I'd return again! read more

Played this course last Saturday. For $120 I expected a lot more. Sheriff wasn't enforcing time, delayed tee time, greens and tee boxes were dog tracks. Extremely slow play... I could go on and on. Marshall FOLLOWED us the entire time like he was babysitting, they forgot drink tickets we were promised, we were yelled and swore at when our carts were 1 foot on the fairway (it had rained and was cart path only). They then had issues charging my card and I was harassed and threatened. We will be back in Austin for work quarterly and will avoid this course. read more

This used to be a fantastic public course option. Somewhere in the last 4-6 years they have lost their way. Everything is about profits meaning range balls have gone up over 200%. Rounds are over 100$ for a course that sees more rounds than it can handle. Course is in terrible condition due to the number of rounds and the best part is they truly couldn't give a damn if you enjoy your time or not. 6 hour rounds every single weekend, 3 groups sometimes 4 on the same hole, golf carts bought in the late 90s. I would give this 0 stars if I could, DO NOT play golf here, Avery ranch or Teravista as they are all owned by the same group and have the same story. read more

I have played a now three times and all three times have had issues. Over watering, poor greens, and slow play. There are no marshals and players are not aware of pace of play. For the price of a round I will not be back here. Especially as driving range not open until 10:00. Better courses in Austin, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Too many issues and I don't like to complain especially when I enjoy golf but not here anymore! My neighbors are equally tired of the management and new rules and have also decided to play elsewhere. If it weren't for the serious explosion of out of state people moving to the area the last few years I believe they would be in serious financial trouble and we'd hopefully get our old golf course back. read more

Went for a bachelor party and one of the group members unfortunately lost a family member so him and a couple people couldn't show up so we had to pay for the tee time when no one was able to play. I live at Falconhead Golf Course and have enjoyed the course for the better part of 15 years with the exception of the last few years under the new ownership. I play weekly and have held off my review for years hoping things might change. What I've realized is it's not going to change and being sprayed down on the 16th and 17th holes for the last several weeks has pushed me over the top. Since they also go off at 7:30am during prime tee off time I've ruled out the daylight savings time excuse so I don't bother to complain. Not only have they been through five General Managers because they don't agree with the ownerships way of treating customers but they now no longer allow you to EVEN drive TO the course (NOT ON IT), with your golf cart because according to the GM someone is "driving on the course after hours using their own golf cart". Duh!!! Not sure how that resolves the problem but I know it has frustrated many golfers living in the subdivision and shockingly this is a golf community and many of us have carts. This is probably the least of my concerns but it tells you how the management thinks. Since they took ownership over the last few years the course has steadily declined in terms of maintenance and customer service. I think what caused me to resign my membership was when the GM told me how poorly the course was managed in the past because they only did x-thousand rounds per year compared to double the rounds they do now and yet they raise membership fees consistently while the course looks worse than ever and the customer service is abysmal overall. Unfortunately they understand that in this area they are the only public course for at least 20 miles and that golf became wildly popular as the only way to get outside during the pandemic so many have little choice. While this course used to be a great value and an incredible course with incredible customer service I would head elsewhere. read more

Played Falconhead. Originally I booked a tee time on golf now, then I wanted to add a 3rd to our tee time and spoke to one of their representatives and they moved my tee time one tee time back. I cancelled the original tee time. We get to the club house and they said the rep didn't cancel the first one, and that we owed them for 5 tee times. 2 on the original booking on golf now, 3 for when I called on the phone. Then on the practice range, the starter asked us to move up one tee slot and we said fine. They won't reimburse us for it, since it's policy.... I will never play there again. The dark skin Lead pro was a complete asshole about it. Aside from that, the round took us 5 hours and 15 minutes. There hasn't been a gold tee in 8 months. I have played this course probably 15 times in my life. I will never ever ever play there again. read more

Beware of this place. New Owner has created a toxic culture for employees and players. Course is overpacked and they skimp on basic maintenance of tees and greens while charging a high rate for a 5.5-6 hour round. Kizer and Lions are nicer for a fraction of the price. read more
