When we first arrived, one of the staff members named Brotty was very friendly and professional. He informed us that we were welcome to dock our boat, but that finding a parking space for our trailer might be difficult. We explained that we would work on finding parking and planned to dock the boat first. At no point were we told that trailer parking was prohibited on the property. The marina accepted our payment for docking, and after we docked our boat, we began discussing where we could park the trailer. At that point, the marina manager, Jeff, approached us in a manner that we found extremely hostile and confrontational. He immediately told us that we needed to leave and that we were not allowed to park our trailer on the property. When I politely asked if there was a pamphlet, brochure, or written information explaining the marina's parking procedures and rules, Luke angrily responded that everything was on the website and that their process was based on "respect." The situation escalated unnecessarily, and we were ultimately threatened with the possibility of the sheriff being called if we did not leave. This was especially frustrating because our cabin was only about a mile away. Had we simply been informed from the beginning that trailers could not be parked on the property, we would have gladly docked our boat and returned the trailer to our cabin. What should have been a relaxing day on the lake turned into a very uncomfortable and disappointing experience. We did not feel welcomed at all. In fact, one of the staff members who originally assisted us later apologized for the manager's behavior, which further confirmed that the interaction was not handled appropriately. We understand that businesses have rules and policies, and we fully respect that. Our disappointment is not with the marina having parking restrictions, but rather with the lack of communication and the hostile, unprofessional manner in which the situation was handled. We hope management takes this feedback seriously, as Fallen Leaf Lake is a beautiful place and visitors should feel welcomed and treated with professionalism and respect.
