The store is very fun, and it is always nice to visit when we are in the area. The food is delicious, and though I have seen reviews saying that the staff aren't cheerful and helpful, it is the complete opposite. I'm very disappointed. We just ordered 7-8 cup coffee and wanted exchange 3 of them with the different ones.I wanted to exchange after full paid (after 10second)I said I wanna to exchange and they said we can't refund your money or we can't exchange your money with the new order. They said you have to pay again or we can refund you if you leave the restaurant‍‍ No respect here. I don't recommend this restaurant.No respect to anyone. Very disappointed. A friend and I stopped here after driving that very bumpy road, and were happy and excited to see the cute store with gift items. I bought two very over priced bracelets, and a zipper pouch and a drink so we could sit on the deck outside over looking the lake. I realized after buying one of the bracelets that it was the wrong color, and I stepped back inside and said I was going to switch it, and the man working there very rudely said no, and pointed to a sign way up on a post that says No Exchanges, No Refunds, All Sales Final and I said I am not asking to exchange for something else, and he again rudely pointed to the sign..it was an ugly attitude and then he and an older lady working there laughed and talked about me when I walked away. Getting here isn't easy--the road frequently narrows to one lane and is in poor repair. However, it was worth the trip to be at the relatively sheltered part of the lake. The staff was friendly and ready to help with renting kayaks etc. We just popped in to have a snack--coffee and onion rings, both were good. But I saw other more substantial meals coming out that also looked quite nice. There are a few tables overlooking the lake, so quite pleasant to sit out. Definitely not set up to handle crowds, but on a weekday summer afternoon, it was perfect. read more

Apparently under new management, they didn't seem to stock as much apparel and gift items compared to years' past ( used to be an annual tradition for me to get a cap and T-shirt ‍ ). Still great food, ice cream, friendly staff, clean rest rooms, and a nice place in the marina to stop while visiting Fallen Leaf Lake! read more

Really great service! Friendly staff and good sandwiches, stocked with basics, and incredible view of Fallen Leaf Lake.

Pretty much your only option if you want a quick bite to eat out in the Fallen Leaf Lake area. We just stopped to use the loos which were clean and easy to find and also to quickly look for souvenirs for my friend visiting from Ireland. The wasps are really bad this year, so the store has set up screened tents for the handful of outdoor tables they have set up - very thoughtful. read more

A pretty darned good lunch in an unexpected location! This place is way off the beaten path and you don't find this by accident. However, if you get clear up to Fallen Leaf Lake and need some lunch, this place is really pretty darned good. The prices are reasonable, and the service was pretty good for most folks, although somebody took my sandwich for theirs and I had to wait for a replacement to be prepared. They were nice about it, but it was inconvenient. Still, considering the price and the quality of the food, I would still recommend a visit if you are in the vicinity. read more

It's a long narrow, bumpy, fun and exciting drive from Highway 89 to the Fallen Leaf Lake Store and café. We were camped at the Fallen Leaf Lake Campground and decided to explore the back side of Fallen Leaf Lake. What a great find! We were greeted with smiles by the friendly staff. They discussed the menu with us and were convinced to order the Sunrise Sandwich. It was delicious. We would have enjoyed sitting and eating our lunch on the outside deck that overlooks the lake, but it was a little cool out so we chose to eat inside. This is a small informal café with a basic and limited limited menu. The store is full of interesting Fallen Leaf Lake tourist stuff. Obviously this is a tight knit little community with the Stanford University Summer Camp on the lake. A short distance down the narrow bumpy road you will find Lilly Lake, Glen Alpine Falls and one of the access points to the Desolation Wilderness Area. I recommend a visit, be polite, pull over for oncoming traffic. Be willing to back up a bit to let traffic through. Have fun, smile and wave to all. read more

This was my first time here. The store was closing for the season but I met the new managers for next year, they're very friendly and excited to reopen Memorial day weekend 2014. Melissa was the cook for the day and the food was fabulous!! The view from the deck was awesome! So this place has quite this history in my family (mom grew up going here in the summer, met my dad here, got married in the cathedral here, we know lots of the cabin owners here, go to the private events here because everyone knows us, etc) so I remember when this was in the old building. I've hiked up the trails here, played in the falls, swam in the lake, jumped off the dock.... and the store's food never really gets old or boring or bad. It's consistently good tasting whatever you get, the ice cream is always refreshing and the flavors are all pretty tasty. The drinks (alcoholic or not) are also pretty good. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the service is fast and it overlooks a beautiful (albeit cold) lake....what more could you ask for? Also, if you're out camping or staying in the cabins or whatever it also has a lot of those sorts of supplies (milk, eggs, butter, paper, sunscreen, bug spray) along with a fair variety of trinkets and t-shirts for souvenirs. read more

Four of us went here and two of us were vegan. They do not have any offering. The location is beautiful and it's a great spot for a beer. They do have a veggie burger but it has egg in it. Would be easy to put a little effort in and offer at least one vegan item. read more
