Solid shop, got a cover up done in 2022 and wanted more work done, went back to see Matt again! This round was a little different, went in for my consultation he told me a simple greenhouse with minimal line work on my arm was no problem again I physically went in and talked to him before 1. I made the appointment and thought we were all on the same page. My appointment was pushed back which is fine don't mind if you have things to do we all have life things but I find it EXTREMELY disheartening and unprofessional when not even an hour and a half before my pushed back appointment the dude texts me and tell me "I don't think it's going to work I'm afraid over time it will look shitty" like why the hell didn't you tell me this when I went in for my consult? Ended up settling for some leaves which are nice but def not what I wanted and I probably should have used my better judgement and just cancelled the appointment. I'll come back to Fallen Owl maybe but not to Matt since a customer should get what they pay for and if I'm told you can do it and then you can't right before the appointment yeah I think I'll take my money to California and actually get the ink I want!! read more

The first tattoo I got was nothing short of a VERY bad mistake. One that I looked at for 9+ years. When I finally took the plunge to get it covered up I was not going to go to just anyone for this endeavor. I searched many tattoo studios before landing upon Fallen Owl Tattoo. I could not find ONE SINGLE bad review about this place. After stopping in to schedule the appointment. I looked at the art work of Chris Hamilton and that is who I chose for my tattoo. My friend chose to use Angell Dominguez. His work was equally as good. We both went to schedule our appointments and they were booked further out then we may have thought. This might bother few people but this to me was a good sign of true artists. Chris Hamilton, my tattoo artist, took my loosely based idea and Pinterest picture and turned it into pure perfection. I was beyond pleased with what he created. I have to give Chris major props too, I am not a complete pussy, but I did my fair share of groaning and whining, so he was nice enough not to make me feel badly about it. If I wasn't trying to rap to Dr. Dre then I was singing the ABC's (might I add I thought this was in my head but everyone heard). He was good about keeping a conversation going when needed and silent when that was what was best to keep me calm and to keep my mind off the actual tattoo. He was funny and made me laugh. If I get another tattoo this is the only place I would do it. Overall this place is clean, professional and full of extremely talented artists so I feel its safe to say that these people know what they're doing. I would also like to point out that they were not elitist snobs unlike some other places you may wander into. I could not recommend this place more. Fallen Owl Tattoo is absolutely wonderful. The service I've recieved from various employees throughout my tattoo scheduling, consultation, and design process was phenomenal. I don't have a single bad thing to say. The environment there is very fun and welcoming; the employees are all very helpful and not condescending at all, which is a breath of fresh air compared to other shops I have visited. Angell Dominguez was the one behind the work and design of my tattoo and I am absolutely amazed at his work. He is the newest artist there, but his portfolio is extremely impressive. After the initial consultation I came back a few days later for my appointment, he was able to fit me in quickly. When I got there he showed me the design and it was exactly what I had imagined and I LOVED it. The tattoo itself took about 3 1/2 hours and Angell made sure I was comfortable throughout and allowed for breaks whenever it was needed. We worked together a week before the process and Jim was great about really trying to get an idea of what I wanted. The piece I wanted had to cover an old tribal that I have had for over 22 years... I also wanted it to represent who am now and an emotional journey that I have recently been on in the forests of Yosemite & the Sequoias. I wanted mountains and pine trees. I showed Jim some pieces I had seen online and then he came up with a rendering that was incredible and all his own! Jim was professional, clean, fast, a joy to speak with for 2 hours - AND he is a fantastic artist! He covered my old tribal with a beautiful piece mountain/pine tree art work! My overall experience at this shop was wonderful. The entire staff is very friendly and professional. It was awhile back when I had my tattoo done by Freddie, who no longer works there, but it was the best experience I've had at a tattoo shop and I've been to many. I hate to say it, but the majority of tattoo artists I've come across have huge egos and expect respect and recognition. I got to talking to one woman at a different shop about it and she flat out told me tattoo artists are basically "rockstars and can do whatever they want". Nonetheless, I had a sleeve done on my left upper arm and Freddie did a fantastic job bringing my ideas into one cohesive image. He was extremely considerate and asked me to let him know when I wanted to take a break. Like I said it was a big piece that had to be split into two days, but Freddie had no problem with me taking breaks for as long as I needed. The piece came out beautiful and I haven't been to a different shop or artist ever since. I am being genuine when I say that the owner and all of the staff at Fallen Owl are very down to earth and willing to work with their clients to make sure you end up with a piece of art that you will love the rest of your life. The staff is great at taking your idea and giving feedback on what will look best while also respectfully letting you know if something won't look good or isn't a good idea. Freddie now has his own shop, so that would probably be the first place I'd go to get more work done, but if I had to choose a different shop it would definitely be Fallen Owl. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who wants an awesome piece that they will never regret. read more

It has been quite some time since I had my tattoo done by Chris Hamilton at this shop, I've been meaning to get to this review out because my experience was awesome! Originally I was set to work with another artist, that artist left the shop between the first meeting and the time my appointment was supposed to take place, I got a call to tell me I could either take my deposit back or I can work with another artist. I chose to stay at the shop since I liked pretty much all the artist portfolios on the website. I met with Chris once to go over my idea, he told me he could have it done in one session and drew up something pretty cool. He finished my tattoo in just under 3 hours and i couldn't have been happier with the final product. It's been a little over a year and the colors are still bright, and i get compliments almost daily. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a professional, clean, friendly shop. read more

I came in for a small tattoo, just one word on my forearm. I had a rough idea of what I wanted the lettering to be like but didn't have the exact font. I worked with Polly to hand-write the letters and, after a few attempts, she seemed to get what I was going for. I'm not a very picky person (come to think of it, maybe that makes me harder to work with) but this is something that's going to be on me forever, so I did make a few tweaks and edits to what Polly drew up. This seems like a normal thing to me (not my first tattoo and I've never felt bad about it before), but I got the feeling that she thought I was just being a princess... Ultimately, I liked what we came up with and she made the stencil. When it came to placing it, she seemed a little annoyed when I asked to adjust the stencil a bit so it looked straighter to me. The place on my arm that I wanted it was tough for me to reach so it took me a couple of tries to get it right where I wanted it. Again, this is something I will see every day and, being the girl who usually won't tell my hair-stylist that I don't like something, I was worried about not speaking up and then being stuck with a mistake. In hind-sight, I shouldn't have felt bad about what she thought and just moved it till I was 1000% sure of the placement, because now it still looks a little crooked to me. Oh well, I'm OCD so it may just be me. After the stencil was placed, she went ahead with the tattooing. She did an awesome job with the needle - very steady hand - and it came out looking the way I wanted it to initially. It's been about 3 weeks and the tattoo is mostly healed, and now that the surface-level ink (you know, the ink that looks super bold but wears off as your skin heals) has sloughed off and healed over, there are big gaps in the tattoo lettering. I don't pretend to know anything about the actual art of tattooing, so I don't know if my skin reacted weird (though, it never got itchy or red after the initial tattooing), if she didn't ink deep enough, or what but it's definitely something I have to get redone. I'm sure I could go back to Polly and have her touch it up, but I live out of state and won't be back in CO till next year, so I will need to pay another artist to do it again. Ugh. All in all, the shop was very nice, accommodating, and reasonably priced. I didn't make an appointment (because I was just in from out of town and had heard good things about Fallen Owl) and they were awesome about squeezing me in as a walk-in. It's a very clean space and everyone was friendly. I am pretty bummed that I will have to get the tattoo fixed already (and pay for it again! Not their fault but still sucks.) and I would say that if I went back, it would only be with my design already sketched out. Polly did a nice job but I just kept feeling like I was inconveniencing her by making suggestions to the stencil/placement, so I wouldn't do that again. read more

On June 24th, I went in for my second tattoo ever. I had made the appointment about 2 weeks earlier and talked with the artist Polly. I had a general idea of what I wanted and she had given me a quick sketch to help me out. I came in and she was very friendly and made me feel good about my decision. I hadn't had a tattoo that was this detailed or colored. I was there for about 2.5 hours and she even let my buddy watch (he was curious). When it came time to see the art I was extremely happy on the placement and how beautiful it turned out. She charged me for only 2 hours, even though it was longer. Honestly after the first few sessions I trusted his creativity more than what I was envisioning. After my full sleeve I got my sock done and I couldn't be happier with that either. Polly is probably one of the best tattoo artists in the Denver area. We looked at a lot of artists work and her's really caught my husband's eye. My husband recently got a military tattoo done by her and it looks absolutely amazing and I'm not normally one for tattoos at all. Fantastic experience. I received two cover up/RE-work pieces from two different artists here. The first from Kayden DiGiovanni. I was so thrilled I came back shortly after but he was no longer there. Instead Angell Dominguez really took care of the the second time and thoroughly won me over!! He is such a kind, talented guy!
