This seems like a great state park with a wonderful waterfall. Unfortunately, when I visited, the water level was low; ugh. I spoke to the lady in the office and found out it's best to come right after a good rain; no seasonal affect, just rain. Very clean and just a nice state park. Will visit again, after a rain lol
Beautiful clean park. What a beautiful hidden gem in this part of Florida in the panhandle. It almost had a Lake Tahoe feel. There are short walking trails here, a waterfall, sinkhole (don't bother) and a lake. You can not get into the water under the waterfall fyi. It's to be admired only. The lake however you can. Unfortunately our time was limited so I did not partake to review how nice the lake was, but families with small children were parking and walking to it as we left. I would like to go back sometime and explore and enjoy more of this beautiful and very clean park.
One of the more beautiful State Parks we enjoyed during our summer vacation. Having never visited the Florida Panhandle before, we were pleasantly surprised with this campsite. Full hookups, immaculate sites and restrooms, and easy pull throughs. Unlike most of the state, this area is rather hilly. The "falling waters" part of the name pays tribute to the limestone sinkholes that dot this area. Mature pine forests with wild blueberry bushes and a healthy population of critters ranging from songbirds to gopher tortoises to panthers can be found here. We enjoyed a night of camping here and a beautiful hike to the deepest sinkhole and tallest waterfall in Florida. The facility also features day use picnic areas, a small lake for fishing and a swim beach (with appropriate gator warning signs, and even a children's playground area. What a beautiful stop. Photos capture a little but don't do it justice.
Out for a drive, I stopped in this state park to stretch my legs. There's a small fee to enter the park. You can also camp in the park but didn't notice what the fee was for that. This isn't large state park but it is big enough for the kids to run around and have some fun. It's just south of I-5 and would make a rest stop if you plan on resting for at least an hour. I parked on the east end (nearest the falls). From there, I walked counterclockwise on the road and transitioned onto a trail (appx 1.5 miles). The "campground" had full hookups...is that what's called camping these days? There's also a small lake for swimming. This seemed to be the most popular place in the park as about a dozen or more people were here. The "falls" are suppose to be the tallest in the state at 73 ft. Just outside the entrance to the park is 3rd highest point in Florida. On my visit, not much water was flowing but could image it would look pretty cool with water. OK place to kill some time, but not overly exciting.
This beautiful NE Florida park is so beautiful. Trails, lake with sand beach (beware of alligators), 70-foot waterfall, meadows, etc. A very well-kept campground, too.
Ohhhh my ...so wanted to go hiking for Mother's Day ... ok so $5 to get in and I guess it is THE LARGEST WATERFALL IN FLORIDA but seriously it's because there's a sink hole like not a mountain so confused ... the bridge to see the sink hole has a wheelchair access which is nice for those whose need it ! But the lake is more like big pond and the trails to get to the lake is closed ... so yeah umm There's is a playground and several picnic area which is why it could be a very nice place to go if you not looking for a big hike lol
Beautiful trail to explore! It is not very long or too difficult. Lots of cool historical signs placed around. There is a very nice park overlooking some hills and great picnic areas as well as a swimming lake. Definitely recommend.
Interesting little state park. First, get ready to pay $5 for entrance. Please have correct change if paying by cash. The park has limited cash on hand. They do accept credit card - my saving grace. Second, the park has four features: A paved walking trail; sink holes; a waterfall going into a sink hole; and a small lake for kids to swim. Typical trees - tall pines. Third, the picnic areas were clean and neat as was the rest of the park. Two problems. One they were constructing new walking paths so construction was occurring. And two, make sure they have had plenty of rain recently. The waterfall was a trickle when I was there.
My mom, fiance and I recently did an in-state road trip to the Florida panhandle from Central Florida. One of my mom's "must see's" was Falling Waters State Park since they boast Florida's deepest waterfall (and let's be honest, I didn't know Florida had ANY waterfalls). Although it was hot (and wearing a mask made it feel like I was being smothered by a blanket), the trip was worth it. First of all, due to the current pandemic, I'm all in favor of more outdoor adventures and secondly, it's only a $5 entrance fee per car - win, win. There were several trails (navigating around the sinkholes that formed this natural wonder) - one to the bottom view of the falls, one to the lake (this trail was the longest) and one trail to the top view of the falls. The park also does a good job of making portions of the trails accessible via wheelchair, though the trail to the lake and the trail to the bottom view of the falls are not handicap accessible. My favorite view/trail was the one at the bottom of the falls. To clarify, you can't see the actual bottom of the falls (since apparently, no one knows what's at the bottom), but at the "bottom" view of the falls, you are close to the bottom of the falls and this is the best picture spot, in my opinion. This state park was not crowded at all and people that we did encounter, respected the "6-feet apart" social distancing rule. We saw several species of birds, a blue skink (lizard), a squirrel or two and plenty of honey bees and wildflowers. Swimming is allowed in the lake and we saw a handful of picnics in progress. We saw people of all ages enjoying the park and I can see how this would be a photographer's dream. I know we'll definitely come back the next time we're in the panhandle.
We were lucky to get a pull through and what we though it had ruined our overnight stay was actually a blessing, it rained all night and that made for a bigger waterfall to this incredible sink hole in Florida, we were actually lucky that it rained all night because the waterfall was incredible, even the park employees had been there to take pictures before we got up. It is an eerie feeling being inside a Florida sink hole with all that water rushing, you feel that it will either collapse or it will fill up before you can run but at the same time it is impressive. Not all sites are concrete but it is a great place for an overnight stop. Going back any time we are in the area
This place is a really small state park, but it does have it's perks. The water fall is less than a 15 minute walk and it's beautiful. Less than a 10 minute walk pass the water fall is a lake. I could be wrong, but I did not see a visiting center. But I did see a sign at the entrance saying they sold stickers, magnets, and patches there.
This was my first time visiting Falling Waters State Park and it was beautiful! The tallest waterfall in Florida was the original draw for us, but the lake there was also beautiful. The walk to the falls was less than 10 minutes on a paved walkway and a wooden boardwalk. The falls drop 73 feet into a sinkhole and it's quite a site. Another really awesome part was meeting one if the volunteer groundskeepers. She and her protective little dog were so pleasant and she even took our picture by the lake. The entrance fee for the park is $5 a vehicle. The grounds are safe for kids and we even saw people walking their dogs. The walkway was very well maintained and directions inside the park we're clearly marked. The park has a waterfall, lake, campground, picnic area, and playground for the kids. The bathrooms here were also well maintained, which is not always the case in park bathrooms.
If you are anywhere near here, don't miss it! And if you live on the Florida peninsula, make the trip. It's a pretty park and the walk to the waterfall is cool even on the hottest day. There's swimming in a man made lake with a little white sand beach, but it didn't look appealing. The waterfall doesn't take long so you're better off driving the 40 minutes to one of the nearby springs for swimming.
Falling Waters State Park initially felt a bit small when we arrived, but as we continued to explore, we quickly realized it was much larger than we first assumed. Our first stop, of course, was the sinkholes and waterfall. While the waterfall itself felt a little underwhelming considering it's described as the highest waterfall in the state, the experience was still quite serene. Hearing the water drop, feeling the cool breeze from the running water, and simply pausing to take it all in made the stop worthwhile. We were a bit disappointed to find that parts of the trail system were closed off, which limited some of our planned exploration. That said, we kept walking and were able to find other trails to enjoy. We ended up wandering around for about two hours, though we know we didn't get to see everything the park has to offer. One of my favorite unexpected features was the dedicated bat habitat area, which was both interesting and unique. Overall, it's a peaceful park with more to discover than meets the eye, and a nice place to spend a couple of hours exploring nature. read more

Decent parking and lots of open space. We went when it was cold but it was beautiful and quiet. There are sinkholes campsites and clean restrooms and it's not to pricey to go for the day. 5$ for our truck :) not a ton of "hiking" per say but really fun nature trails to keep you busy. Nice little tucked away gem here in Florida . read more

We were camping nearby and found this place to explore. Here is how it went: The Good: - This place is very well kept. Restrooms, parking, trash, public areas....all nice, clean, and enjoyable to be in - There are some nice paved/boardwalked areas to see the main sinkhole and water fall. There is a ramp most of the way, but the way to the lower overlook is stairs. - More trails lead to the lake where you can paddle board, swim, play in the sand, etc. - Only was $5 for the whole car and all my kids to get into the park - Campground looked nice. We didn't camp there, but if it was as well kept as everything else, it should be nice. - Great playground for the kids near the main falls trailhead. The Not So Good: - Some of the walkways and trails were closed which was disappointing - Not a large park which was too bad. It looked so nice and felt good. Wish it were bigger. Bottom Line: Nice, beautiful location that was clean and well kept. I would go here again. I'd also like to try camping here. read more

We were going to the Florida Caverns and found this park was 20 minutes west on I-10. It was worth coming here. It's the tallest waterfall in Florida that goes into a sinkhole. It has a nice boardwalk to the waterfall and there is also a lake. However, it is a long walk to the lake. I wouldn't suggest doing this in the summer. It's too hot, but it's a beautiful place to visit. read more
We travel through the panhandle of Florida a lot making roads trips back and forth to Mississippi to visit family. Once, we finally decided to stop here and check out this tallest waterfall in the state. Normally, it's a $5 fee per car to enter, but the day we went, there was no one at the entrance taking money, so we were able to just drive right in. It's a short walk back to the waterfall and along the way you'll see other sinkholes which are pretty cool. Once you get to the waterfall itself, there's a platform you can walk down onto and stand to look way down into the sinkhole which is what the waterfall goes into. It's certainly not the largest, most beautiful waterfall i've ever seen. I think it's real wow factor is the sinkhole at the bottom of it. This is definitely not something I'd go out of my way to see. It's just not all that. But if you find yourself driving along I-10 and need to stretch your legs for a bit, i'd definitely recommend stopping, It's not far from I-10 at all and is very easy to get to. read more

This park is a wonderful place for a day of outdoor fun. The park entry fee is only $5 a car. The waterfall is the tallest in Florida. It is the effect of water running into a very large, deep sinkhole. The size of the waterfall can vary pretty significantly with the flow of the water. The streams of water were really small on the day of our visit. If you have the flexibility, go after a rainy period and the waterfall will be more impressive. The park has walking trails throughout. The park has nice picnic areas that are clean. There is a playground near the large picnic area. There is also a lake with a designated swimming section. It is in Florida, so they do have signs to warn swimmers about alligators. This stop is a bargain at $5. We will definitely be back. read more
Nature trail, easy walking, short walking distance, car access parking lot, sinkhole, waterfall - all above are the benefit of this park. This park is almost middle of the Panhandle. Very close to I-10 at exit 120. This state park has the name highest waterfall in the state of Florida. This fall has 73 feet high waterfalls. This waterfall is actually flow into the sinkhole. It has a concrete pathway lead into the falls. It is awesome when it is raining season where you have a lot water into this falls. The do have the slip resistance stair down to the falls. Nature beauty is greatly describe here. The park include a fresh water swimming lake. I saw a lot people here to cool down and you do not need to go to the beach near sea. I was wonder the nature of the water was use for the alcohol distiller. It must be better than cool light beer. read more

Absolutely love this place. We actually wanted to book a couple more nights but the spots are all reserved. We had a great hike, very quiet, and the scenery is beautiful! There are many places along the lake and trails to sit and enjoy read more

Great views! Clean facilities! Playground, lake to swim in, camp sites, plenty of picnic areas! $5 a car for entry! We enjoyed the paths, all concrete or boardwalk, makes for A super easy hike around the property! read more
We stopped to see Florida's tallest waterfall, not that impressive I'm sorry to say if you've ever watched water fall. I've seen larger water falls at Putt Putt courses in Daytona Beach so if you're expecting to see Niagara Falls you're in for a big disappointment, but it is beautiful and natural but sadly unappreciated by some. After taking the short hike on a combination of improved and un-improved trails up, over and around a number of sink holes we arrived at the falls (and I use the term "falls" loosely). I wish I could say it's a beautiful, unspoiled, undisturbed miracle of nature but I can't. As I watch the water leak from the rock lined stream I thought to myself, they did a wonderful job hiding the garden hose. But the real eye opening experience came as my eyes followed the small trickle of water falling against the rock's edge to the bottom of the almost perfectly symmetrical sink hole, at that point something appeared at the very bottom. After studying the objects for several minutes I was able to partially identify a few of them although the depth obscured my view of some of them so I'm guessing here, it appeared to be a plastic super-size soft drink cup, a cheeseburger wrapper off the dollar menu, thirteen cigarette butts, a shoe and what could have been a Buzz Light Year PEZ candy dispenser regardless it was very disturbing, on second thought it could have been a Minion but my point is what idiot does this. Does one really go hiking with a happy meal in hand? It just doesn't seem normal - but I guess if this was what one would do it wouldn't be a stretch to believe the same moron would toss their trash in a sink hole of such beauty. Do we really need to install cameras on ever light pole or tree to protect Mother Nature? Yes this is a beautiful park so if you're in the area stop in and visit before it turns into a landfill. read more

ARE WE STILL IN FLORIDA? (Warning: Young Tampa Bay adults in for the weekend) We came here for the purpose of witnessing the sink holes and waterfall--nothing else yet once we entered the park it seemed as if the mere appearance of the trees transported us away from any natural Florida we thought we knew. STILL A HIDDEN TREASURE Despite it being a holiday weekend with good weather, we arrived in the afternoon and seemingly had the entire sink hole/waterfall area to ourselves. We only saw five others during our visit yet never crossed paths with them. This was awesome and allowed us to really linger and take great photos without interruption. The waterfall was at full force and was totally unbelievable how tall it was- and mysterious since you can't see the point where it crashes to the ground. The sink holes are almost eerily beautiful- like undiscovered caves. ENTERING AND RECOMMENDATIONS Although it's a ~1 hour drive to mini cities Pensacola or Tallahassee, I strongly recommend calling the Park ahead of time to see the strength of the waterfall. There is also a paid car admission- $5. read more

We stayed here overnight but arrived early enough to go for a walk and view the Falling Waters. It was an incredible sight to be so close to so many sinkholes. It made me feel uneasy about the ground we were standing on. The section leading to the falls was closed but a very kind worker offered to take photos of the falls. The butterfly section was rather small and we didn't see any butterflies. The camping area was really nice. Our slot was short and wide. We had a fire ring and picnic table. There was plenty of room for the dogs as well as privacy. The tall pines towered over us and we were surrounded by wildlife. I wish we could have stayed longer. There is no WIFI, but that's why you come here, to get away. read more

Yes it is pet friendly. Keep dog on leash. There is a tiny area to swim. Of course you will see the typical Florida sign verbiage beware of alligators, Or something to that effect.
