This is a great park. The $4 entry fee for our family of 4 was the best $4 purchase I have made in a very long time. The park is well managed and park staff are extremely friendly and always willing to help you. We arrived to the park staff relocating a snake who was hanging in a tree and it was great seeing them taking care of local wild life. Everything is well maintained except for the bathrooms at the main entrance. They were pretty rough and most folks were using the porta potty that was nearby and that says alot considering it was hot out and it was in direct sunlight. Will be back for sure but I recommend using the bathroom somewhere else. read more

What a magical place! We visit once a year when we are down for our vacation. I have always been so enraptured with the crystal blue waters here. Very well maintained park, with a very reasonable fee to enter. Bring a picnic for lunch and use the covered and open picnic tables. The facilities also include restrooms with changing rooms. My biggest reason for choosing Ponce De Leon Springs is that they have stairs leading down into the spring, so is very accessible even for those with mobility issues. The water is a very chilly 68 degrees year round, which makes it quite refreshing on a hot summer day. There are trees in the water to explore and little fish to see near these trees. There is also a platform for jumping and diving. So much fun here in this special place. I love it! read more

These springs were magical. Saturday had a lot of people, but Tuesday was a lot less. We had the springs to ourselves, basically. Bring goggles, there are two caves in the center of the pool. And explore the trails, so much cool stuff to see. read more

This is a wonderful Florida State Park which is not far from I-10 at all. If you're traveling through, it's a great place to stop and stretch your legs. Or even stay for a few hours and have a swim. They have restrooms with a changing area, just make sure to throw some towels in your car. The water is so beautiful and so clear. According to my daughter, also very cold! I don't do cold, so I didn't get in. Actually, she had no intention of getting in either. She simply wanted to walk down the steps and just stand in the water up to her ankles to get a feel for how cold it really is. Well, this is where I warn you to be careful. The steps are very, very slippery. Make sure you hold on tightly to the railing and make sure with each step you have good, solid footing. My daughter just went be-bopping down the steps and then she was on her butt soaking wet! LOL We all laughed, she took it in stride, and decided to just dive right in fully clothed at that point. =) She said after a few minutes her body got use to the cold temp of the water. She even took a few dives off the diving board they have set up. This is a beautiful park for swimming, picnicking, and spending some great quality time with the family. This is a park I actually would drive out of my way to get to. read more

This was our first time going to a spring. We took our 3 younger kids. The scenery was beautiful! It would be nice to bbq there and spend the day. Bring your floats. We didn't bring anything. The water was deep. We knew beforehand the water was going to be chilly and it was. There's a cool trail too, but we didn't walk the whole trail because our kids got spooked out because of the alligator warning sign. read more

We came from 30a area to do something different with our kids. It doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but we really enjoyed the day. The spring water was chilly at first but we acclimated quickly. Plenty of picnic tables and seating around. There was a small trail behind the springs, which we didn't do because it had rained the night before and was quite muddy. Bring a pool float - water is deep! We tried to bring a picnic lunch but the bugs were a little too much for us. We came on a week day around 9am and wasn't crowded at all. By 12 when we left, many more people were arriving. One of the most amazing spots on this planet! You have to see the Crystal Springs to believe it! God is so great! Also, I had the best chocolate milkshake I've ever had in my life at the little food trucks up the road along with the best foot-long chili dog I have ever had in my life from the lady next door in her food truck. Ponce de Leon is a lovely, quaint, beautiful small little town and I really look forward to going back. This is one of my favorite fresh water springs of all time! Huge swimming area with a small jump on one end. Lots of seating, with tons of shade. There are grilling areas to have picnics. And, even some walking trails. The head of the spring has a sand boil which isn't that deep, and not very impressive. If you bring a mask, there are some fish to see, or maybe even a turtle. The water is crystal clear unless the kids are churning up the bottom. It does get busy, so get there early (parking is limited). If it does get too busy and you want a more private swim, you can take a walk down one of the trails and find some pretty good swimming holes. That's where I go to just sit in the water, and cool off from the summer heat. It's very relaxing. It's a great (cheap) place to spend a few hours, or even a whole day. read more

Husband and I checked out this place to free dive. Such a BEAUTIFUL spot. The water is crystal clear and there are two small caves under to explore. It doesn't go that deep so it's very beginner friendly. We made it down with a few first tries. Checking in was so easy and pleasant, the staff working are always so lovely. The bathrooms are clean for the most part. Upkeep on the park is wonderfully done. It's a great place to hang out. It's also kid friendly because there is a more shallow spot near the side that kids can hang out in. It is pretty cold though, but that's expected because it's a spring. We LOVE coming here. It's $4 to get in and more than worth it. Just a heads up- make sure you call before you make the trip out because it tends to flood a lot because of all the rainfall in the area. It was fun family oriented if you wanted to barbecue you could they got gazebos to hide from the sun guard you from the rain nice fresh call clean water swimming with the fishes in the trees that grow through there you can find gems on the other side and watch the water be clean through the little wheel and the rocks and the wall it's a nice place to clear your head and get away it's a beautiful scene I love the water it's awesome and it's only four dollars to enter the park what more can you ask for read more

One of my favorite springs in Florida. A bit west of the springs I normally visit, Ponce De Leon is one of the coldest at 68 degrees year-round. A wide and shallow run takes the spring waters into a nearby river. The park has close by picnic facilities shaded by the large trees in the area. My advice to truly enjoy the spring visit it on a non-peak time. The cost of admission is a few bucks making it one of the best deals in Florida. I recommending bringing a camera or GoPro. There is a large cypress tree growing out of the spring run that is a sight to see. read more

The park is beautiful and worth the trip. However, the park staff is very rude at the gate. They have a policy that they shut the gate down every hour and force you to sit out on the side the main road to wait for the gate to open. So beautiful! Clear water, lots of trees. I didn't bring in my phone because I was going swimming, so I don't have pictures. I wish I did. It's everything you could want in a cold spring. I've only been to three springs in Florida so far, but this is the best one. I can't imagine another one beating this out this one. It's big and just amazing. The cool water feels so good on a hot day. And I grew up in Maryland so that's just how cold water is. There are people, but not too many. Clean bathrooms and plenty of picnic areas. Absolutely beautiful place! We went here for the day and it was so worth the drive. The park area is clean and has plenty of space, tables and covered areas. The bathrooms were clean and maintained. On the other side of the spring, there's a trail you can walk along and it's really quiet. The water was clear but VERY COLD. So cold all we did was jump in it and swim as fast as we could to get out of it. I swear I felt the chill in my body for like 3 days afterward! Ponce de Leon is a small town with pretty much nothing to see, except for this gorgeous natural park. It's known as the legendary fountain of youth so RUN to it. But I guarantee you at a cold 68 degrees you'll have to jump in several times if you want to see any youthful effects. I probably didn't get in it enough though so I can't speak on whether it really does help with a more youthful appearance. read more

This definitely has some history to it, and although it's not technically the supposed fountain of youth...it definitely is beautiful. It is a spring, so it's a nice temperature all year long. And it does run into a creek, so you can walk that for quite some ways to get away from the crowd. They have basically turned it into a swimming pool area, because the water is so clear and beautiful..it makes you want to jump right in. So it's a bit safer for kids and whatnot. For me personally it took away from the natural part of it a bit, but it definitely is worth the trip to view it. There is some hiking trails as well, but make sure you have 3 dollars to get into the state park itself. And leave pets at home, because no pets are allowed. It does have bathrooms, and bbq and picnic areas, so that is nifty. There is gator signs and whatnot, so make sure to be careful. It's a very pretty place, and so worth seeing. read more

Beautiful place but super crowded and for $4.00 a car full they need to keep count because it's so full in the summer everyone kicking around makes the water cloudy. Enjoyed it however we recommend Morrison Springs just down the road. It's free and way less crowded. Deeper water and fun to watch the scuba divers while you're snorkeling. We went to vortex also and it's very crowded but a party atmosphere. We stayed at that campground. read more
