Falmouth Ace hardware is a quick and easy stop by conveniently located off of US 1 in Falmouth nearby shopping plazas of Walmart and Shaws. When not shopping at my closest Ace, this store has nearly every item I need. Is it the absolute cheapest? Not always- but what sets them apart is you absolutely cannot beat their sales staff who every single time I enter the store ask if I need any help and find me what I need quickly. On top of that they are knowledgeable to answer questions and help make recommendations. For a smaller hardware store, which is always faster to find what I need and quick in and out compared to the big box stores, this one is hard to beat. read more

I just love Ace hardware, living in Hawaii for many years I've always shopped at Ace. They might not have everything, like the bigger hardware outlets,but the service bar none the best and very knowledgeable. Now that I'm living in Falmouth I still get the great service. And the staff in Falmouth makes you feel like a valuable customer "seriously not kidding " I always swing by Falmouth Ace before seeking other outlets. I made a believer out of my son-in-law. One day he needed a replacement part for a bathroom faucet, and went to a big box hardware store first. They couldn't help him. He reluctantly swung be Falmouth Ace , he showed the part to a staff and in a matter of minutes he was on his way out the door with the correct part in hand . Has anyone else been almost harassed by employees wanting to help you find something? It's not that I don't appreciate being greeted at the door and asked if I need help finding anything, but the minute you walk into this store I feel like I'm being watched. Even if know the product I need and where it is, it's happened more than once that the employee at the front will "radio" to a fellow employee in another section to tell them that I'm on my way. This inevitably bring another "Can I help you find something?"......I once went in just to pick up some carpet cleaner and before I knew it there were 4 employees standing around me talking about the advantages and drawbacks of different cleaners, maybe it was a slow day but still..... It's also not unusual that they won't have what I need and I end up having to drive all the way to Home Depot on Riverside. I guess I keep going back so maybe I should give myself 2 stars, but it's locally owned and close to my house. read more

I have bought a Husqvarna snowblower, Stihl chainsaw, and Stihl leaf blower from here and every time the support and instruction has been great. The staff are always friendly and helpful. This store is also a great option for a small town and has often allowed me to get things instead of driving to Home Depot to get minor hardware materials. read more

Bought a brand new 2-stage 24" Ego snowblower on 10/31 as they were selling out at most stores and wanted to be ready for snow. First snowstorm we had was night of 12/5 into 12/6. Got about 3" of wet snow. Should be a piece of cake for this snowblower that claims it can clear up to 15". The snowblower would get stuck and spin after about 8 to 10' of clearing (once it had a small pile in front of it to push through and throw), or due to it not being as heavy as a gas blower, would start to walk up on top of the snow instead of cutting through it. Borrowed my neighbor's Ariens and cleared my driveway with no problem. Called ACE to work out a return, and was told I can't return it. They don't take back anything "used", and that I would have to deal with Ego. Ego says I have to deal with ACE because the unit is not defective and is still fully operational. Based on other reviews below I would avoid buying anything Ego brand in particular from ACE, seems they have no intention of backing anything they sell. read more

Old school hardware store with plenty of selection and solid pricing. They are all about service, which can be a bit annoying if you know what you need. They'll ask you a hundred times if you need help, but if you actually DO need help, they know the store inside and out. Unlike Home Depot, where finding someone to assist you is like an Indiana Jones adventure, Ace will literally walk you to the products and explain everything. I went in to make a return and they wouldn't accept it due to the outbreak of Covid. The lady at the front desk was rude- she told me that people can die if they accept returns at this time. Earlier that day I made a return at the Ace Hardware in Scarborough and they were fantastic and accepted my return with absolutely no problems. First off - I've always been a "Big Box Store" type of guy but after living in Falmouth for 3+ years and shopping at this hardware store I will never go anywhere else. Falmouth ACE Is always staffed with knowledgeable people who have always given me great info & advice. They also have a full service small engine workshop in the back. I needed a new snowblower and purchased an incredible Husquavanna for just a little more than a cheap box store brand. And I've had my power washer repaired there for a reasonable charge. No one compares prices more than me and I've always found them to be very competitive. Whatever I need I'll always find the part and great advice/information from Falmouth ACE Hardware. Kudos to the owner for hiring great people who are always willing to help! read more

When we brought it to the owners attention, he told us it was our responsibility to read the fine print on the product packaging. Called asking if Falmouth ACE sold a certain type of tape and the man working, after asking me to repeat the name of the tape multiple times, wouldn't stop sighing treating me like I was the crazy one! After not even looking and knowingly pronouncing the name wrong to another employee, he said abruptly said no and that he had never even heard of it (gaffer tape) and hung up. I was having a good day until this man ruined my mood. Will never be buying from this place again. read more

It used to be my place to go when looking for a tool and above all when I didn't know what tools would be necessary to do a job, I always appreciated the advice given by the very knowledgeable employees of this store...not anymore, I don't know what happened but the people who work there now aren't helpful at all, they could be selling donuts or burgers since they probably know more about those than about the hardware they sell. Maybe I was unlucky and I ran into the incompetent employees the last bunch of times I went there. It's too bad. I guess I'll stick to Home Depot or Lowes from now on. read more

They are OBSSESSED, I mean OBSSESSED with the #$%^&* mask. Doesn't matter if you have been vaxxed twice, the Governor and CDC said it is safe to indoors and outdoors without a mask if vaxxed.... Signs everywhere asking to wear the damn mask and when I asked why the mask after the President, CDC and our Gov said it was safe for those that have vaxxed the guy at the front door said "we aren't the CDC, please wear your mask properly sir" (it wasn't covering my nose). WHAT???? Insane, this has gone absolutely INSANE. Why get the vaccine if rude stores like this will never, ever, ever change. If there is such a thing as TOO much customer service, this place gets 1st prize. I appreciate being able to find a salesperson when I need one, but every time I go into this store I am overwhelmed by their desire to help, and not in a good way. As you walk in you are immediately greeted and asked what you are looking for, which is fine. Sometimes I might have several items on my list and I personally prefer to amble a bit in hardware stores, since I don't always remember everything I need right away. Today, after I let someone direct me toward my goal, another employee asked me if he could help me and when I said no he followed me around until I stopped and looked at him, when he asked "are you sure I can't help you with anything". Yes, I'm freaking sure! I might have milled around a bit more and found something else I needed, but I after that I went directly to the checkout and bought only what I had come for. I prefer to frequent local businesses as much as possible, but there is something to be said for leaving the customer alone. This review was written after 4 or 5 visits to this store, so it's based on multiple experiences. On a positive note, they carry good products at competitive prices, and the staff is (while overbearing) very friendly. And there are usually more staff people than customers inside, which to many customers might be heavenly, but it just doesn't work for me. read more

Exceptional service. I've gone there for reasons as diverse as buying paint, a lightbulb, sheet of glass or to mend something. Today I bothered the guy who I think is the owner with advice on a special type of picture hanging device I was trying to contrive. He spent ages devising a set up based on my rather odd request. I was amazed at his patience. Generally they just try hard to solve problems creatively and give old fashioned personal service. Yes, they're slightly more expensive than big box stores but when else can you go, like I did once, with something that was too tight to unscrew and they helped without rolling their eyes or charging me. read more

I wanted to like them so I could avoid the big-box store, but their service was terrible. I was looking for a toilet flush handle, and even though I brought in the old one, the sales person couldn't be sure which one I needed. I didn't have a lot of time, so he recommended I go with the "universal" one that cost $10 more to be sure I could get the job done that day. I asked a few times about each component to make sure it would fit, and he assured me that universal meant universal. I brought it home, and found that it did not fit. I immediately went back to return it (with receipt), but since I opened it, they wouldn't take it back. I explained that I bought it based on their recommendation, but he refused. I got the guy that helped me to come up to the counter, but his only solution was to tell me I could file it down to make it work. I asked if I could at least get the price difference between the universal one, and the other identical option, and he again refused. I truly hope that they put more emphasis on customer experience because I would like to shop from locally run stores, but at this point I will be going somewhere else. These guys should have a sign outside that says "We know how stuff works" - There is plenty of staff, and somebody always knows everything about the gizmo you are looking for. A nice man just spent 10 minutes with me sorting through the faucet handles to replace the ancient one that broke off. Last season it was a fuse in Christmas lights (Who knew strings of lights had fuses??)....Special paint for plastic.....sanding discs with velcro....They all come from the good old days when men were handymen. Bad customer service with at least one staff member was very rude (I think his name was John). I bought a husqvarna chain saw with the extended 4 years warranty, never had any luck with it, I didn't use it for more than 60-70 minutes in the past 8 months, and it won't start up. I went to return it, they say they won't return it, they will try to fix it, the lady (supposed to be the business owner) promised to give me their rental chain saw until they fix mine because she saw my frustration dealing with a dead chain saw that I paid lots of money for it and didn't get to use it more than an hour. I agreed just to realize five minutes later on that they don't have their rental chain saw at hand, the lady of course left by that time. While I was trying to articulate the problem of the chain saw the guy (John) interrupted me in a very rude way to instruct me to just leave my name and phone number, maybe he didn't like the color of my face (I am not white). I usually go to Home Depot, but the day I bought the chain saw was a snow storm day and this Ace hardware store was way closer to my house. I will never do the same mistake again. Please stick with your Home Depots and Lowes, this family owned Ace hardware, they don't have enough business to keep the promises of their warranties or their words. Just can't believe that they have only one chain saw to rent out, if it is out, then they are down to zero. One more thing on a side, I had to replace the cutting chain (about $22) because it went dull very quickly. read more

Rather than try to sell me a $120 piece of equipment, the salesperson recommend a $12 saw which worked great. I shop here whenever I can. I had two items to return, when i did they said it had to go on my debt card because that was how i had purchased them. it took two employes to do the return and 20 minutes . how ever my account was never credited. when i contacted them they told me they paid me cash, can i say bullshit. how can i solve this problem and get my money back? ill never shop there again! read more

BOT 1 drawer slide, read directions (once home) concluded it was too small. Came back to exchange and was astounded by the response: "You destroyed the packaging and we can no longer use the bar code reader on it, so it cannot be returned." Returned home, went on line to acehardware.com and protested. No response (including no acknowledgment of my using their internal website email). Conclusion: stay away from these people! read more
