Go anywhere but here. There's an older grey/blonde haired lady that works here (I believe one of the owners). She was extremely rude when a worker needed help. I had a question about whether they carried particular plants and the young gal at the counter didn't know the answer. The older blonde lady seemed like helping was out of her league. Nobody knew a thing at the counter and instead of trying to help, she just said no we don't have what you're looking for and continued talking to an older dark haired lady. When I asked her where I might find the plants I wanted, she said she didn't know. Then just kept talking it up. Then they started talking Spanish while looking at me. Talk about rude. Bells Nursery and Mile 5.2 Greenhouse had what I wanted and were so much nicer. Not only that, but everyone looked disheveled at Falz. Like they had been through a battle and just woke up. My wife and I solicited quotes from 3 other landscaping companies before settling on Faltz Landscaping. The 3 others met us at our home and listened to our ideas and took measurements of the areas to be landscaped. Within a week we received quotes from two of the other companies that just parroted back our ideas without any design drawings or detail. The third company jerked us around for 3 additional weeks before telling us they were too busy and gave us a baseless and wildly expensive "estimate" for next year. In contrast, Josie Blumenthal from Faltz came to our house twice to sketch the area, take dimensions and develop our design ideas. On the 2nd trip she took aerial photos with a drone and prepared a concept design based upon our ideas. At our third meeting, Ben Brown, Faltz Landscape Architect, who was mentoring Josie, joined the Team and proposed some new design concepts that we liked a lot. We signed a contract and within a week the Faltz crew was on site. The 3-man crew were experienced, polite and professional. Most of the time while the work was in progress, either Josie, Ben or both were on site, assuring the work was in conformance with the plan. At the end of every workday, the crew cleaned our yard and driveway. Three days later the work was complete. The final product far exceeded our expectations, and we are very happy with the entire Faltz Team, especially Ben and Josie. We felt that Faltz provided a superior product and good value. how do I explain how much I absolutely love this place!! Not only were they just extremely knowledgeable and helpful about what I needed and how I needed to lay it out but they assisted with every step they were understanding they were helpful they were knowledgeable. They were pretty much everything I needed. I don't know much about commercial landscaping, and or much about what exactly wasn't that I would be needing all I got to say if they did, they knew what I needed how I needed it. The few things that I thought were kind of expensive they're actually super affordable. All I can say is I sure will be a returning customer as much as I possibly can read more

I briefly hesitated to post this one star review, because I previously bought plants at Faltz nursery and the experience was fine, but I feel obligated to post given my overwhelmingly negative experience with their customer service today. I went in to Faltz Landscaping and Nursery this afternoon to purchase a smaller quantity of stone (probably a half yard by my estimate). I loaded the stone into one of their on-site wagons and wheeled it up to the register to purchase it. The gentleman working the register informed me that they usually charge for stone per yard, but for smaller amounts like mine they can charge by the gallon. He said he would call someone up to the front to help me out. Several minutes later a woman who I presume was the manager approached me and asked what I needed; I told her I was looking to purchase stone, and she brazenly responded with "That's not a yard." I asked if they were able to charge me per gallon, and she said they could, but that "I would need to bring my own bucket to measure it," that they "Don't have buckets" for me to use, and that they would not sell me the rock unless I bought a yard of rock or brought my own bucket to measure the amount myself. She told me I could go to Lowe's or another hardware store, buy a bucket, and come back. The entire interaction she was very brazen and made it clear I wasn't worth her time if I wasn't buying a bulk quantity of stone from them. I find it difficult to believe that a nursery doesn't have a gallon bucket on site or a staff member able to estimate a small quantity of stone in a wagon. I didn't end up buying any stone from them. I understand that Faltz probably has a lot of high-volume customers and big projects, and their attitude today made it clear that they don't care at all about earning the business of new people or smaller clients just trying to do some home improvement. I went to Lowe's afterward; staff there got me what I needed and were polite and helpful. I rated Lea at Lowe's a "10." read more

We live on the top of a windy hill, some place you would wonder about getting to in the winter. It's cold and windy. The house is new and basically built on a pile of rocks. Ben from Faltz came last summer and and looked over our property and gave us a quote for a stone retaining wall, a dirt layer for the whole property, landscaping for the front, a grass for the back, multiple paver areas outside doors, and a small chain link fence area for our dog. The quote came quickly, and Ben was able to modify it to meet our budget. It was a lot of money, but difficult to tell if high, since everyone else could only do some of the required job. With Alaska summers at a premium, we decided one company that could do the whole job was the way to go. The guys built the stone wall first. They worked hard and made a beautiful wall, with large and small stone interestingly varied across the wall face. Every evening the yard was tidied even though in mid job. They then brought in dirt and spread it over the property, then landscaped the front. The landscaping looked great. The yard was seeded and we began a sprinkler fest for the summer. Ben worked out a plan with seed and sod so that our dog could still get outside. It is the following summer, some of the trees died. Faltz replaced them, this was part of the contract. Some of the plants did not die, but really did not thrive. Kara and Ben worked with us and filled in the landscaped front and it looks great. They went above and beyond what was needed and were always very nice while doing it. Will some of the plants die again? Probably, It is so windy up here, a tree blew out of it hole even when staked. It's Alaska. Will we have Faltz back, if needed? Yes. read more

Work like they're paid by the hour. I have a wealthy neighbor who hires these guys to "landscape." At least once a week they pull up and spend hours running every piece of lawn equipment they own, as slowly as possible. Last fall, they used leaf blowers to blow leaves off trees and bushes that were still attached; they use the leaf blower to blow dust (not leaves, not grass clippings, but dirt) out of the middle of the street. Where does the dust go? Well, into my house, of course. They've also parked across my driveway on an empty street for no apparent reason, and taken their sweet time to move. Calling them does no good. They don't care about your neighbors; they appear to care only about showing up and wasting hours. And the neighbors' landscaping is in pretty poor condition given the amount of time wasted on it. read more

I used Faltz in the past to build a long rock wall for me and they did a beautiful job. I have called them three times in the last two and a half months to get a bid for some landscaping work and each time I was told someone would get back to me. On the second and third call I told them had been told that before , they apologized each time but still no response. Based on the previous work they did for me, and the major work they did for a friend last year I expected good customer service and work but that has not been the case. I have recommended them in the past but based on this experience can no longer do so. read more

Ben came out and helped me come up with a plan for a dog yard, and was especially helpful in giving me ideas and options based on my budget - very good ideas. The crew that did the work was the hardest-working crew I've ever seen, and did beautiful work. The stonework was the most expensive but it is worth every cent. Hannah, the project manager, showed up daily and worked with me on adjustments as we went along. The project was done on time, within budget, and exceeded all my expectations in terms of beautifying my yard and making it pet-friendly for my puppy. There was initially a bit of wait for the work to get started (but I had said I was not in a hurry) but once it started they were done fast. Also very helpful in coordinating with me for part of the work we were doing ourselves (changing deck/stairs around, and fencing). read more

My family purchased an aspen tree in May that has still never bloomed. After a dozen phone calls and one stop back to the nursery with a photo, they have yet to replace the tree or even return a phone call other than one call where they said they'd replace the tree. Prior to that, they came to my house to give me an estimate for a large landscaping project. Those calls have also gone unreturned and I have yet to see a bid or plan for any work. When I call and leave messages the ladies are polite, but clueless as to what is going on and generally unhelpful. read more

Unfortunately I have to give a low rating. I don't like to and often give the owners an opportunity, but they basically said they would do nothing. About three years ago I bought two birch trees at $300 each. I also paid for delivery and planting. The trees are wonderful and I particulary purchased larger trees so they would survive the moose. And they have. However, they are not growing. In fact, they look rather, well, crummy. A year later, and yes, past the 1 year guarantee, I went in to ask Faltz why my trees might not be growing. The paid worker I talked with asked me if the men who delivered and planted the trees were these individuals. I was surprised that she had described them accurately. I said, yes, in fact they were. She said that these planters habitually planted the trees too deep and that it was a problem for those that had purchased product. So she KNEW that it was a problem. I asked her if Faltz would offer me some assistance in replanting the trees---as the only way to fix this is to dig up the trees. Basically I have to dig them up, raise the level of the soil and replant the trees. Clearly I can't do that myself, as that's why I hired them! So, I have a pair of trees I spent nearly $1,000 on that won't be growing anytime soon. In fact, the lady at Faltz said they will probably die. So you can see why I'm not really pleased. And there's really nothing I can do. Moral of the story: don't buy something from this company and ask them to install. They don't know what they are doing! read more

I was impressed by the work Faltz did on my next-door neighbor's home and another house in our neighborhood, so when we needed to replace a tree that died I knew I wanted to hire them. Kara walked with us through the tree selection process, was very professional and provided excellent customer service. The workers who were dispatched for tree installation were very diligent and hardworking, they were genuinely concerned about the success of the tree and focused on making sure the area where the tree was to be planted was ready. They worked exceedingly hard to remove additional roots by hand, that another tree removal person I hired couldn't reach. They also worked to reinstall three trees installed by a different contractor that were installed too low. I should have hired Faltz to begin with, you get what you pay for. I love my new weeping white paper birch and can see great value in hiring someone who knows how to install things correctly. read more
