I went to have a simple small cavity treated on my molar, and they made it worse. It's been hurting ever since they worked on it, and food always gets stuck in the tooth whenever I eat. It hurts all the time now, and I really regret going to them. I used to have my own dental clinic, but I had to switch because my old insurance no longer covered that clinic. Anyway, that's not the point -- I've realized that where it's cheaper, the quality of work is worse. Be careful where you go! fine if you're doing a cleaning, or if you are an adult and want a simple filing. They are not a pediatric dentistry despite what their website says. They do not do any large filings in kids that require anesthesia or numbing. they do not do root canals or anything like that. read more

Familia dental will absolutely push you to use their x-ray machine, even after you say no. A simple $65 dental cleaning ends up with an additional $180 charge. I had to come in and talk to the office, I was told everything was fine. A few months later I get the bill all over again. The dentists lied to me, telling me "don't worry, I'ts fine. You don't have to worry". Why would they tell me that? The dentist didn't know anything about my insurance plan (a reduced payment plan). I feel so taken advantage of. read more

Had a checkup and teeth cleaning mid January, in 2020. I know we're into 2021 now, so I can't necessarily speak to how they've been this year, but, I will note that they've been AWESOME about letting me reschedule twice now. Looking foward to seeing them again, hopefully in June! read more

Update 07/06/2021: I got two complicated cavities filled from here and I am doing great! This place really knows their stuff. I would not hesitate to make this your go-to dentist. The place was clean and welcoming. The front desk workers were kind and transparent about coverage. I did not have to wait long for my turn. The doctor was incredibly knowledgeable, competent, and caring. I came in with a unique situation regarding my wisdom tooth. I got the opinion of two other dentists before coming to this practice for a third opinion. All the other practices referred me to someone specialist, but I left Familia Dental that day with ZERO pain. I got my first wisdom tooth pulled out on the spot. That was the LAST thing I anticipated doing that day, but the doctor was super reassuring of the process and his education truly showed through his actions. I was given a follow-up appointment immediately. The organization of this clinic is top-notch and the care is out the roof. It's super comforting when you finally find an honest and skilled dentist. It's not 1 Star bc the front desk staff is excellent, friendly, and professional. I came here for multiple visits. You'll never get the same dentist twice. The dental assistants look like they came straight from middle school and gossip like it too. I had not one but TWO crowns put in wrong. One was put on and couldn't be taken off (while sizing the dentist that looked all of 18) got it stuck, said there was nothing he could do without ruining the teeth on both ends and that "I'd probably be ok." It has rotted everything underneath and led to a painful extraction (somewhere else obviously). The other almost had the same problem. But while the dentist tried to sand it down, instead he chipped it. Broke it. Then put the broken tooth and glued it in my mouth. It's no wonder they are so adamant of forbidding cell phones in the place LMAO you know there's shady crap occurring when that is the first thing you see when you walk back. Lesson learned. I'm new to state run dental plans. But this isn't how it should be run at all. Grow up. You're supposed to be professionals. Act like it. read more

This place deserves zero stars. I was there for an exam and teeth cleaning in January 2023, during this time the dentist looked at my x-rays and determined they should replace a crown and possibly do a root canal. They did the paperwork to make sure it would be covered by my insurance and it was. During this time I started a new job and could not make a weekday appointment so I called and explained the situation and the receptionist said she did have someone who could do the job on a Saturday and that she would redo the paperwork for the insurance and I would be all set for my appointment in May 2023. I showed up today and the dentist said he couldn't do the work and also that he was not the dentist that the insurance is covering. Now they want men to return in July 2023, on a weekday again. No one here knows what the hell is going on and I won't return. Don't come here unless you don't mind wasting time. read more

The staff is very nice, they greet patients when coming in and when leaving. I never really thought about their work ethic until I got my braces on. There's like two dentist assistants that actually now what they're doing but most of them don't. This makes me worried with all the sharp tools they're able to access and use with me. I never wanted to come to this place, but it was the most closest option so I was like, "how bad can it be?". First of all, if you want to reschedule an ortho appointment, you have to wait months. They're always booked, it's like all of Wheeling came to this one little place which makes me confused because of the low rating. I wanted to go to another dental place, but they said I had to wait until I got my braces off. I had a lot of awful experiences there, but I have one that tops the rest. I came in one day for a braces deep cleansing thinking it was going to be like any other. Little did I know how hurting I would feel once leaving. One of the dentists poked my gums and teeth with dental probes and scalers to clean something. All the suction tube sucked was my blood. Basically, I left the dentist with blood all over my mouth. I felt a tiny rock inside my mouth I looked and it was my chipped tooth. A noticeable part from my tooth was missing. How hard could they have possibly scraped to chip my tooth off? I made a mistake of coming here. Not sure where some of the good reviews came from but those are very suspicious given what I saw today. The staff kept me waiting for almost 1 hour, waiting for insurance verification, even though I presented my insurance card and social security number at the very beginning. When being asked why it took that long, the staff was not helpful and couldn't careless. If I could give a zero star I would. This place is the most unprofessional dentist I have ever been too. The doctor LIED to me first and said he had a three month waiting list to do my root canal so he retired me out. When I went to schedule my appointment they said that his waiting time was a month and they could schedule me but first wanted to confirm that he could do it. They came back and said he could do it and it was scheduled a month from then. A week or so later I get a call saying he can't do it and that whomever told me that was wrong but they would confirm with the doctor and get back to me to double check he could do it . Two weeks later and one week before my root canal they call and said he can't do it and I have to go somewhere else. I was very upset cause I'm in a lot of pain. Her response was I couldn't get back to you any sooner because the doctor was busy with patients. Seriously, two weeks and you had no chance of talking to the doctor!!!!??? It seems like everyone I have talked to doesn't know anything and lies or takes their sweet time with everything . read more

Appointment was made online then they call to confirm. Upon arrival target appointment is just about right on which is good, place looks very clean and organized, play area for kids while waiting. dr and the rest of the staff very friendly and pretty straight forward. This place is located is a plaza which I'm not the biggest fan of its location but service I received I was pleased. They take insurance. I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain. I did not have a dentist so I looked online for dentists in Wheeling. They were so professional taking my information for the appointment. They got me in that morning but the best was left to come. I had the most fantastic dentist. She was great. My xrays took five minutes, She took care of my dental problem so quickly and efficiently. She came up with a plan for me and I am so grateful that I called them.I do not think I have ever walked into a dental office and thought "they really care and are concerned about their patients."
