Very disappointed. I called ahead and clearly explained that we needed emergency dental treatment. I was assured over the phone that they could help. But when we arrived, all the doctor did was take an X-ray (which we already had) and then told us to go somewhere else because they don't perform root canal cleanings. We explicitly said this was an emergency, not a routine exam. Still, we were charged $140 for absolutely nothing -- no treatment, no real help, just wasted time and money. On time, quick, efficient and to the point. Just what I like about a dentist office. They greet you, you get your teeth checked and cleaned and you are on your way. Clean office, nice staff and they usually can work-around your schedule if you need to cancel or re-arrange an appointment. My only suggestion is to give the patient something to listen and or look at during the cleaning process. When i went there was no background music playing and there was just a blank wall in front of me. Not a huge deal, but would be nice. read more

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience here today. Everything about my visit today was extremely awkward and painful. I came here because I read the high ratings on Yelp and they were within my insurance network. But here is how I was not happy with my appointment today. 1) I told them prior to my visit that I have braces and that I won't be able to have an X-Ray. They must have forgot and still tried to make me do an X-Ray. When they finally realized they couldn't, they tried to make me call my orthodontists to send them x-rays that were two years old. They kind of waited impatiently for me to make a phone call even though I told them my orthodontist isn't available on Wednesdays. 2) They don't have a place to put your stuff, so I ended up just awkwardly holding my huge winter coat and scarf during the entire time. 3) While the doctor was observing my teeth, she made me open my mouth for a LONG time, so that saliva was accumulating and it was really uncomfortable, until I chocked. She did not apologize. 4) She proceeded with cleaning, even though I didn't ask for it and it was SO PAINFUL. She made me open my mouth the entire time, I couldn't even take breaths, and she didn't even give me anything to protect my eyes (other places have given me some type of glasses). I was splattered with crap in my eyes, face, and parts of my clothes.. even though its my saliva, it is still gross. 5) There is no spitting station, so even though I had left over residue from the cleaning, I couldn't rinse or spit anywhere. They didn't even offer a place at the sink 6) The doctor and the assistants hand-eye coordination is terrible. She kept pinching me with the cleaning material in my gum and I was bleeding everywhere. The assistant kept putting the suction on my lip and suctioning up my lip instead of other stuff. Needless to say, I am not coming back here. I hope this review helps future patients to try other options. read more

I just left here with my 2.5 year old and I couldn't have been happier. I got in and was immediately greeted by the front desk woman. She was friendly and a great first face to meet for our first time there. We only waited a minute or two, and we were instantly called back by the hygienist. I knew instantly from the first few words she would be great. Once we were back she asked me a few questions but also made sure she was engaging with my son. For how young he is, that is so rare and I really appreciated her taking that time. Before she started working, she showed him every tool she would be using and explained what each one did to him. He doesn't always warm up to people right away and did with her right away. After she was done, she let him know how well he did and how impressed she was with him and he was overjoyed with the praise. She left to get the doctor and we once again didn't have to wait. She was in there within 1 minute and talking/joking around with him. Once we were done we scheduled up his next appointment and left. I was truly overjoyed with how great they were with him and how comfortable he was the entire time. What an amazing group of women that helped him today!!! Thanks so much to the team! read more

You only see The Beyers if you have any insurance other than Medicaid. Otherwise you get to see one of the dentists who just graduated dental school. Since becoming a patient here in 2010 I saw a total of 4 different dentists. All of them would get some experience in the office for a year or two and then leave the practice. Every single tooth I've had work on at Beyer Dental has failed. I had two molars, two on each side filled. Three of those were extracted after 2 years. Four front teeth were filled with composite. So much filling was used the teeth broke off at the gums 3 years later. A crown I had placed fell off after 8 months. I was told the tooth was too short to hold a crown. Two bottom front teeth had fillings, both of those teeth broke off at the gum line 4 years later. I have no idea how they have good reviews. My teeth were in better shape before I stepped foot into this dental office. read more

I have had the BEST teeth cleaning today. It was my first time with this practice, and I am amazed. The hygienist name is Sergei and let me tell you, he is old school professional. No ultrasonic but a hand tools. He cleaned every tooth, one by one till I heard that smooth glide over the tooth when you know - it's clean. OUTSTANDING job. read more

Ok I can't give a dentist 5 stars. I just hate hate going to the dentist. I get the chills thinking about it. But I have gone to Beyer Dental as long as I can remember going to a dentist. So at least 16, maybe 18 years? I end up going to Irina or Igor Beyer (the owners) each time. Mostly because with anyone, I get to anxious. They know me, they know my family, they know that if I'm freaking out, the Novocaine hasn't taken hold yet and stop. I've had an emergency root canal done here (I can't remember the doctor's name but I was told it was their root canal expert) and it was as painless as a cavity filling. The wait can sometimes be lengthy but ever since they opened the second office upstairs, at least its much quieter and calmer to wait. I just always bring either a charged cell phone or my nook. They also have a computer in the waiting room and a tv, books, magazines. I do miss the fish tank though... read more

My family and I have been going to Beyer Dental for 20 years, so we have seen not only how they have grown as a business, but how they have remained humble, kind, and caring with their patients. Many of my family members (including myself) have had several unfortunate experiences with our unlucky teeth, and the Beyers (both Irena and Gary, but also the entire staff) have always taken care of us. This includes making sure our teeth and gums are okay (both are very skilled dentists), as well as making sure we are not freaking out (and calming my nerves when I'm scared of a procedure is almost impossible, but they manage). Most of the staff that works there has been working there for many years, and the dynamic between the doctors is extremely friendly and even familial, which is also seen between doctors and administrative staff and hygienists as well. Everyone is always jovial and willing to help. Even though it's a large and successful business, it has the warm and friendly feeling of a mom and pop shop! :) The care I get at Beyer dental is so good that even though I don't live in Chicago anymore, I still flew home when I had a tooth problem. Another positive thing is that they do not get arrogant with what they can do and they do not hesitate to send you to a specialist. Many dentists think they are somehow magically capable of performing a large variety of procedures on their own, yet do not specialize in these things. Here, the Beyers have a small list of excellent doctors who they freely refer us to when something is best done by an expert (i.e. root canals). The root canal specialist is great (after the root canal, I literally told my family that ''it was fun'') and is in the building on some days, so you don't even have to go far. I also saw an oral surgeon who was about 10 minutes from the office (was located in Glenview) and he was also very skilled and informative. Overall, I'd say the people who work at Beyer dental are the most thoughtful and patient-friendly dentists. They will never try to cheat you into getting something you don't need, and from what I have seen in the last 20 years, many of the same people and their families have remained loyal to Beyer dental and continued with their services, which is quite a statement. read more
