I came here after seeing a tiktok and HOLY YUM!! If you just need the short version: Go go go!!! You will not regret it!! Longer version: This place is located in a strip mall that kind of looks run down. Do not let that stop you!! There is actually a really pretty park across the street if you do want to take your food to go. The inside was very clean and put together. There isn't much for decor but it felt like your standard "hole in the wall" twin cities hispanic restaurant. Parking is free. The service here was terrific!! I felt like I was honestly apart of a family! I was check in on multiple times! My server was very polite and friendly! Very enjoyable! The food: I got pupusas (cheese) and they were soooo good! The cheese pull on these were great! If you have never had them, it's kind of like if a corn bread pancake and a slab of mozzarella came together! You can get these stuffed with beans and meat as well! I also got the quesabirria tacos! Now I have been to tons of places in the twin cities for quesabirria tacos and dare I say these are some of the best in the twin cities!!! Oh my goodness!! Absolutely delicious! And the consume had good flavor as well! Packed with meat and cheese! The salsas were excellent and had a great heat to them! Heard about this place on TikTok and I thought I would pay them a visit, and I am so glad I did! I got the carne asada torta served with fries and paired it with a medium horchata. The portions were big and for a good price. My torta came with avocado, queso fresco, sliced tomato, lettuce and pickled jalapeño. It was so tasty and so big I shared the other half with a friend. The staff was super friendly and greeted us from when we walked in the door. This is a nice mom and pop shop and I will most certainly be back to try out their breakfast! read more

I found this place from a TikTok video and I'm so glad I decided to stop by and try the food. The tacos are AMAZING. I got al pastor, asada and birria. It's hard to say which one was my favorite because they were all so good !!! They also serve some of the tastiest tortas in all of MN. I love how they give you the whole squeeze bottles of salsas for your food. The aguas frescas are so huge, it can be shared between 2-3 people. And who doesn't love a hot cup of champurrado served in a traditional Mexican mug. Everything is made to order and it's shown in how fresh and hot each item is. Came in for brunch on Monday and had a lovely experience - we used to live in new Hope and never came across this gem. So glad my sister found it so we could give it a try! I ordered the French toast that came with bacon, but our family was a party of six so pretty safe to say we had a plethora of the menu. My nieces who are fairly picky eaters even enjoyed their pancakes and Mac & cheese kids meal! Staff was incredibly sweet and even came to sing happy birthday to a patron with a candle lit cupcake! Yum! This spot in Crystal is a hidden gem. It's your typical hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant, but any ethnic food is best served at places like these. The staff are so kind and food is amazing. We ordered the Chilequiles, Bistec a la Mexicana, and Enchiladas Swiss. The horchata was delightfully cinnamon-y, I loved this one. They also have a good parking lot so parking isn't a hassle. Definitely the kind of place you can roll into wearing sweatpants and a baseball hat and feel totally at home. We came in for breakfast and had a great experience all around. The service was super friendly and welcoming, and the food was fantastic. Highlights for us were the breakfast burrito (hearty and paired well with their salsa), the chorizo and eggs (perfectly seasoned with a nice kick), and the champurrado, which was rich, warm, and seriously delicious. Where to go on a rainy Sunday? For some unknown reason we picked Family Cafe & Diner. We had never heard of this place and it was a small hole-in-the-wall cafe located in a strip mall with a ton of parking. The menu offers all day breakfast, American basics, and of course Mexican food. Our table of 5 ordered a little bit of everything. The three meat omelet was good, the biscuits and gravy was enough to share, the chicken and the steak tacos were good (we enjoyed the chicken more), the pupusas were tasty (ask for cream), and the pancakes were a 10/10. Overall the food was a major hit and no one had complaints. Where Family Cafe & Diner lost the star for me was our waitress. She didn't come back after the food was dropped off. We needed silverware, syrup and more to drink throughout the meal. I started to bus our own table towards the end. We also got up to pay as no check was given. Even with not so great service we will be back. I highly recommend checking it out and supporting a local business. read more

This small family run cafe is a gem. It's hidden a bit, but is easily accessible from Hwy 81 & Bass Lake Road, in Crystal. It was affordable and delicious. I didn't think to take a picture of the food prior to gobbling it down. Make sure to try the stuffed hash browns, especially if you like cheesy potato bake. The service was outstanding. Oh my goodness, I'm so glad these folks are here! I noticed a few months ago that this small restaurant had opened up in my neighborhood and after eating here twice...this is going to be dangerous. My first order was your standard breakfast: eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc. It was really good and the bacon was exactly how I like it...crispy. Then I got to noticing their other offerings and made a note to come back for something more authentic. The restaurant is owned by a super friendly Latinx couple and they have pupusas, tortas, menudo, and loads of other delicious items. I got the pupusas which come in an order of three. I settled on a mixture of pork, beans, and cheese because I couldn't decide which to get. The outside had a nice crispness to it and the filling was incredibly flavorful. First time here, came for coffee and late breakfast. Staff were friendly and welcoming. They speak both English and Spanish. Looking at the menu, I noticed there weren't many authentic Mexican breakfast dishes. I asked the server about it. He informed me that they were updating the menu's and then proceeded to tell me what dishes they could make. I chose Chilaquiles Verdes (w/ green sauce), refried beans and asada (grilled steak). I'm pretty sure my husband would give this 10 stars if he could! I met a friend for breakfast. The family that runs it was super friendly. We started off with tea and coffee which were the usual fare but then I ordered a medium horchata. It was huge! It was enough for my friend and I to split it. I can't imagine how big the large is. We couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch so we ordered both and shared. We had the stuffed hashbrowns which were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. It was filled with sautéed onions, cheese and sour cream. It was delicious! I added eggs to mine which put it over the top. My friend ordered the pancake which was as big as the plate. We also ordered chicharrones and cheese pupusas which I will definitely be ordering again. Yum! I ordered menudo to take home to my husband. In 30+ years I have never heard him rave about something so much. He had some for lunch, called me twice during the day to rave about it and finished it off for dinner.
