I go here all the time and it's amazing every time. The people are so nice and the wait is never long. I typically order the carne asada tacos and a pistachio popsicle, and I will never get them anywhere else! There was one time they didn't have the popsicle flavor I wanted, but they recommended another flavor (Gansito?) and it's now my Grandpa's go-to. Not to mention how cute it is inside- so colorful and clean, with a mural of Selena, which is always so nice to see. read more

Stopped here after dinner because when we looked the menu up online it was a bit limited for options as something's were sold out/not available. This place is super cute decor wise! Very trendy. Kind of gave me 90s nostalgic vibes with the colors. They had a ton of ice cream bar and fruit bar flavors to choose from. From my understanding they have some flavors that are water based and others are dairy. I got the horchata, my mom got strawberry and my sister got cookies and cream. I thought they were good flavor wise! They have ice cream that you can get in a cup/cone. I also seen they have a few other desserts as well. Many options! They have a claw machine with mini stuffed animals in it. It wasn't busy at all when we went which was a bit surprising for a Saturday afternoon but I supposed it is right after Halloween! Was shocked to see this place completely empty. Super cool and fun inside, they have all the awesome treats, with fruit chamoy etc The food I would say is authentic Mexican food but it didn't blow my socks off, I've definitely had better tacos else where but considering the options in the area I'd say it's a good choice. read more

We took my niece and nephews here. Parking was easy since it was a weekday and there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant. We got a mixture of ice cream cones, popsicles, a drink and an elotes. We didn't try the food. I think our total was over $80 which seemed extremely high for some ice cream, a drink and a corn. The restaurant decor was friendly for kids and photos. I thought google disappointed took me to fast food chicken next door, but kept going and found THE CUTEST family owned shop with bright and playful decor, and the most amazing hand made popsicles. Also had the Al pastor chicken quesadilla with flavorful and juicy chicken. The owners working tonight were friendly and kind, and they went out of their way to tell us more about how they learned their mother's recipes. Can't wait to bring my 8yr old nephew! read more

I popped in one afternoon to grab some paletas to bring home. The place is much larger than I anticipated and VERY fun. They have all the fun Mexican treats - paletas, tacos, mangonadas, etc. The person working the counter (maybe an owner?) was very nice and answered all my questions about all their offerings, different flavors and how business was going, etc. I tried 3 flavors - Strawberry cream, lime and chamoy, and guava. La Michoacana Popsicle World, located next to KFC off of hwy 65/Ulysses, just opened a month ago, and I've only heard good things about it. I've been craving birria tacos, so I decided to give them a try for Sunday lunch. I was the only customer in the place, but the decor/ vibe is ready for a crowd. I was helped right away at the counter by a lady, but she was helped another gentleman, Felipe. I'm guessing he's the owner. He translated my order from English to Spanish. During my order, I was given samples of the Aqua Fresco drinks. The first one looked like pink milk and had hints of cinnamon. Then I tried both the lemon and original. The original was sweeter than the lemon. I chose to order a lemon because it reminded me of lemonade with a hint of cucumber. Tart, sweet but light. On the way to pay at the end of the counter, I passed by a long freezer filled with popsicles. So many varieties! I chose Mint Oreo. While I was waiting for my order to be made, I chatted with Felipe. He asked how I heard of the place (Blaine resident FB group). They've only been open for a month and are still struggling to get the word out. They have started with a limited menu and have plans on expanding once business picks up. Plans include a breakfast menu (I sampled Mexican bread his wife had just made. Dense, chewy, flaky. White sugar on top, some spice that reminded me of nutmeg??) and a street taco counter. This would be similar to Chipotle, where the tacos are made in front of you on a line, vs back in the kitchen like my order was today. During our convo, Felipe said everything is made from scratch, in-house. He had met with Cisco foods, and they were trying to sell him frozen tamales and many other dishes. But he said no, that's not authentic to defrost and reheat. At this point, he knew I was a Yelper. He also let me try beef skirt steak (thin, chewy yet tender, with hints of lime) and menudo (beef soup. Reminded me of chicken noodle soup. Would be really good during winter.) Felipe did say it is a Christmas tradition to have menudo on his family's table. Everything I tried had tons of flavor! My order came up, and I headed home. I ordered the birria tacos. Came with limes, radishes, green salsa, and consummé. By the time I dug into them 20 mins later, they were a little bit soggy, but that's on me. I bet they would have been even better if I ate them in the dining area. Sis ordered the Carne asada tacos, and she approved. Hers also came with lime, green salsa, and another reddish-orangeish salsa. Mouth on fire by the time she was done. I split the lemon aqua fresco with her, and she liked it too. Mint oreo Popsicles will be a treat for later. It was a very enlightening visit, and I'm glad it gave them a try. I will definitely return to try more of their menu. read more

Unfortunately I was NOT impressed with this place. The popsicles 10/10. I wouldn't come here for the food. I had the Tacos Barria. They were... "okay" nothing worth the $15.99. My girlfriend had the chicken rice bowl. She picked at it and asked me to try it. Didn't have much flavor sadly. In conclusion the ambiance is kid centric and uplifting. "Cute" decor, popsicles were AMAZING.. The food was subpar. I was here for an hour and there was only one other person in the restaurant. A handful of walk-ins. One girl working in the back and I seen no other help. I don't see this place staying in business long with what they have currently going here. read more

Came here with my youngest kiddo to get some birria tacos. We also picked up flautas and some ice cream. It was fairly empty when we got there, but things were pretty clean, made to order and the decor made my kiddo want to take pictures. Food was pretty good, portions generous, and I would definitely come back to eat or do takeout. read more

I love Salena!! We've been waiting for this store to open and my friend was talking about mangonada. So I took her to the new location that recently opened up by my house. This restaurant is very colorful. There's a star arched at entry, I think it means everyone walking in is a star. They didn't have all the food options as listed on the screen, just taco and birria for now. The girl who helped us says to come back later on for more. The mangonada is delicious. I had to order an elote as well. Definitely recommend this place to check out. read more

I first came here and ordered strawberry and cream. It came out to be strawberry, leche (milk), and cream which was not specified, but it was good. The next time I came, I came for the food. I ordered the carne asada platter to go and it did not look like the picture displayed at all. It was not authentic, rice was bland, beans tasted weird, carne was dry, there was cut up onions instead of a whole onion, no gauc or any other sides, I was very disappointed. You're better off going to another michoacana and Mexican restaurant. I've never seen a michoacana with little to no options before, that should've been the first red flag. read more

Oh my goodness! Just tried Lamachona for dinner tonight and it was so incredible. The decor and set up is so beautiful . You can tell they put a lot of love into opening this place. There's some perfect photo op spots inside. The colors are vibrant and beautiful. I got birria tacos for my husband, shrimp tacos for me, equites and tosti ceviche to share. Everything was 10/10. This new restaurant next to KFC, near Lowe's, has great potential! I first went in to try their ice cream (which is home made right in the restaurant with dozens of unique flavors)...thinking it was just an ice cream shop...boy was I wrong. Not only is the ice cream really really good (I would consider myself an ice cream snob), but after trying the beef street tacos, I was hooked. Their beans reminded me of beans that I had in Puerto Rico...delicious! All of their food is made fresh daily, and all authentic. The only concern I have with this restaurant is the slow (very slow) service. The staff is super friendly, and the owner is quite young and seems a bit inexperienced with business. However, I have high hopes for this place and wish them the best in their business endeavors...a self-serving wish...because their food and ice cream are so dang good (hoping their around for a long while)! read more
