A taco spot in a strip mall? Always a good sign. First time swinging in and honestly, never noticed it before across from the movie theater and love that I found it! I did the three taco platter which comes with a side of nachos and a drink for $14? What!? Sold. You can mix and match as well. I did the bbq pork, chicken in chipotle sauce, and barbacoa, American style. Really solid, and the barbacoa for me was straight, fire. Will definitely be back. Love this place! Pro's: Great customer service, clean restaurant area, huge selection of meats, tasty food, chips and huge salsa bar included. Con's: It's in a strip center that's run down (not their fault), the hall that leads to the restrooms and the restroom itself is kind of gross looking but it may be clean, just looks run down. Coming from CA, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of taste but I was pleasantly surprised. Restaurant was clean and service was friendly. Excellent food and service! Coming in, there may be a line, but be patient! The food is worth the wait! I love that you can choose from many different meat options in the format you like (tacos, burritos, etc). My favorite dish is the Alambre Mix that has lots of proteins and rice with avocado and tacos. The quesadilla is also cooked and filled well! Sometimes they have specialty tacos (cabeza, lengua) so if you like those, ask if they have them available. There is a salsa, sauce, lime station you can take the sauces you prefer back to your table to enjoy with your order. There is ample seating inside and generally is not too loud for how many people are dining inside. read more

Best Mexican food in Plymouth. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Service is always great and front staff are friendly. It is clean inside and family friendly. Order: Enchilada combo plate with corn tortillas and green sauce with chicken in green sauce as your meat choice. I'll just say "you're welcome" ahead of time. You will not be disappointed. The tangy green sauce cuts thru the richness and keeps every bite light. The crunch comes from the fresh lettuce and tomatoes add a nice texture difference. The combo comes with a side of delicious refried beans and Mexican rice. Perfect compliments to the enchiladas. You also get a bag of homemade tortilla chips...even better then the red bag of Donkey Chips at the store (when you know you know). There is a complimentary salsa bar with 6 different choices so mix and match the flavors. There are extra limes, cilantro, onion and jalapenos so feel free to add them to your dish depending on you preference. Did I mention you get a drink with the combo too! Don't let the outside make your decision for you. Yes it's in a strip mall. Yes it doesn't look busy, but the food is wonderful. Isn't that why you go somewhere for most of it is the food? I have eaten here many times when I've been in the area since I live 250 miles away I've always had good food and a good experience. Staff is wonderful and attentive. Maybe you should try it. I hate to downgrade any place but recent history suggests that Pineda has taken a significant turn in the wrong direction. The food has definitely declined in value and quality. My latest large burrito had stringy chicken and few pieces of grilled chicken. In addition it was largely a tasteless mess. The open faced flour taco seemed to taste primarily of raw onion and was small in size. Finally my order of Gaucamole ($5.99) was missing. The argumentative (and admittedly language challenged) person that answered my phone call to report the omission blamed the delivery service. My ultimately futile efforts to explain that the delivery was exactly as picked up from the restaurant, that the issue was not with the delivery but that the ordered Guacamole was originally never placed in the bag by whomever assembled my order, were all for naught. BTW, I wanted to indulge my occasional sweet tooth with an order of Tres Leches but found it was apparently replaced by cheesecake. Alas a sad state of affairs. Accompanying my order were small plastic ramekins of mediocre hot sauce. All-in-All a reasonably filling but in the end an unsatisfying experience. Maybe I happened to place my order on a bad day or perhaps they had a new staff. Regardless and unhappily I will be ordering in the future from alternatives whenever I crave Tex/Mex. read more

My husband had the number nine combination which was two tacos, rice and beans. He had one ground beef and one Mexican beef. Both were seasoned perfect and delicious. Pineda is such a hidden gem in Plymouth. Their main location is in Minneapolis off Lake Street, but this is by far my favorite place to get tacos. I've been a frequent here for years and I keep coming back. I prefer this location because parking is a breeze. There is a huge lot and it's way less congested. Service is always prompt and professional. My favorites are the Al Pastor (BBQ pork), Carne Asada (chopper steak), Shredded pork, Pork in Green Sauce, and Barbacoa. I've had their chicken options but found them to be a little bland and dry. The rice and beans are pretty tasty. Nothing too spectacular but it makes the meal whole. They have a few different salsas to try from and they're made fresh in house! They're open 7 days a week 10am-10pm so anytime is a good time for tacos! read more

The times I've been here I've had a great experience, you order at the counter, the staff and I are fully bilingual so communication has never been a problem, and for what I've observed, they are very patient and take the time to explain their extensive menu. They have a salsa bar with different types of salsas and different levels of spiciness. My favorite thing on the menu is the Chile Relleno combo. Chile relleno is a stuffed (your choice of stuffing, but traditionally is cheese) poblano pepper dipped in an egg batter and pan fried and covered with a tomato sauce. They are nicely spiced with a good choice of ingredients. Tucked in what would best be described as an odd little strip mall, Pineda is a great spot for Mexican. It's pretty authentic and has a ton of great meat choices. I typically order the Taco Bravo, which is 3 tacos (hard and soft shell melded together), each with a different meat. My favorite meats are the Steak with Onions, Chicken in Green Sauce, and... they're actually all pretty good. My alternative order is the Alhambra, which packs a ton of flavor onto your plate. It is obvious to anyone paying attention that Americans have an obsession with authentic ethnic food. Opening our mouths to each others' foods can become a gateway to opening our minds to each others' cultures. From the menu it wasn't clear there's a mishmash of cultures. The menu featured more "Americanized" tacos, but when I ordered in person they have Mexican Street taco option. Which was ideal, because I don't care as much for lettuce in my tacos. So when I found out a Minnesota gem had another location in Plymouth a few miles from where we live I grabbed some co-workers and it was game on! Located in a funky strip mall it's nothing to brag about but what is inside Pineda will leave you satisfied and coming back. The place is a true Mexican gem, not the Baja or Tex Mex the Midwest has in abundance. Arguably the best street tacos in the twin cities and instead of frills they deliver great food. We have now tried burritos, tacos, enchiladas and plates (carnitas and asada) and the food is always delicious. They have a great salsa bar, chips are average and the seating and comfort level is much better than the lake location. While your here hit a movie at Emagine across the parking lot!
