There was an army of food trucks in the parking lot with crazy lines (esp. for 9am), but it didn't fully dawn on me why until I entered and encountered a massive balloon arch and table of goodie bags. They've been advertising this date for awhile now, and I and many other shoppers have had to endure several months of cramped parking (because a large part of the lot was full of equipment/materials for the remodel), bizarre aisle layouts, and closed restrooms while they were in the midst of this remodel. I will say that the place was crawling with employees (and managers...) who all seemed to be in an effervescent mood; I think they had all hands on deck for staffing today. The employee handing out goodie bags jovially encouraged me to check out the many booths set up in the back of the store. I did and found things like coloring sheets, face painting, and henna, as well as on the grocery throughway lots of free samples from various third party sellers (like Kellogg's, Monster Energy, etc.). I got so many that my goodie bag was stuffed beyond capacity. There were even two costumed mascots to take photos with (Chester Cheetah and Tony the Tiger)! So actually, I'll admit, this little event was kinda fun, even if it was celebrating the excesses of capitalism. XP Apart from today, I've been shopping at this location for about a year, since we moved to the area. I go because it's cheaper than the Cub that's closer, and cuz I can get non-grocery items there while I'm at it (like household cleaning supplies, body care, auto stuff, etc.). So in that way it's convenient and worth the longer drive. But it's your typical Walmart in pretty much every way. It's not gonna be amazing, just OK (thus my rating). It's clean enough, stocked enough. Sometimes it's annoyingly crowded (I never ever use a shopping cart unless I absolutely have to). I tend to utilize self checkout as a matter of personal preference so I can bag my items exactly the way I want. Of course it's annoying that Walmart's point of sale devices STILL don't allow tap to pay. Get with the times, Walmart, everyone else has. I also use the mobile app to hunt down random items when I'm not certain where in the store to look (case in point, today I regrettably needed mouse traps...). My luck with asking employees face-to-face here hasn't been very good, so I've defaulted to kinda fending for myself in this regard. Sort of a shame, but I also know that they're pushing to have shoppers not even enter the store physically at all-- this is quite evident from the sheer number of brand new "pickup" spots in their parking lot post-remodel (nearly an entire double row... which seems insane to me). They'd prefer to basically have a local "warehouse" and cart your order out to you under the guise of "your convenience." (We all know this is actually a way to stem shortages and recoup profits; under late-stage capitalism, nothing is done by a big business without there being something in it for them too.) Haha, okay, soapbox over. This is a Walmart. Go there to buy stuff cuz you're mostly broke and feels like the only way to affordably feed yourself in a country beset by rapid inflation! Oops, guess my soapbox wasn't quite over. My bad!

There was plenty of parking on a Sunday morning. I parked fairly close to the main doors and walked in. The shoe department was staring at me. The main reason why I am not a huge fan of Marshalls is due to the lack of size 11 women's shoes. I saw a cool pair of grey Converse sneakers. They weren't in my size. Frankly, I couldn't find my size in any women's shoe style. The good news is that the other departments made up for this deficiency. I loved the luggage section where I was impressed at how light luggage is becoming. My current piece of luggage seems archaic compared to the ones that I was looking at. The women's clothing section was good. I liked the variety and size organization. The prices were decent, too. This store is a Marshalls-HomeGoods combo. It means that you can shop at both stores without setting foot outside to go into the other store. It's convenient and cool. The washrooms are in the far left corner of Marshalls. The women's was roomy and clean. Marshalls is growing on me. It simply needs larger women's shoe sizes to make me a happy camper. (97)

Beautiful clothing, nice fitting rooms, clean store, costume jewelry and shoes to die for. Right now fabulous boots and shoes on sale. The economy has taken its toll with huge areas of markdowns. It pays to be a rewards member and card holder for all the perks. This week sales of a lifetime in many departments, attentive cashiers and helpful. My dilemma is the on going issue with rewards on line system not working in store on several occasions preventing you from using rewards or accumulating with purchase. It happens too often. I called customer service to complain and get my rewards added to my account from my over $200 purchase. Support was helpful, apologetic and added them giving me a case number to show the issue and 48 hrs for those points to hit my rewards- 222 points for spending $222. It made me think all the people who have missed out on their rewards and never acted on it. "The system is down all too frequently spoken". Save your receipt and call Support. Burnsville mall parking lot has taken a hit and filled with potholes. Car companies paying to use vacant parking slots for overstock. That's a good thing if you wanna peak at new cars without the hassle. The owners of the mall not spending any money to help stores access. County Rd 42 open again to access JC Penny.

If you don't give me a unit or something that qualifies the entire meaning of your brand, I won't get it. This Five Below is a five-minute drive from the hotel. I decided to check it out. There is a lot of parking in front of this store. It's next to Ulta Beauty. I backed my car into a spot with flurries happening and walked in. It occurred to me that it's like an upscale dollar store, except that most items are $5 or less. There are exceptions, though. You can get a record player (some don't get record, but understand vinyl) for under twenty dollars, for instance. The best find was seeing Squishmallows plushies going for $5 each. OMG! So cheap. So cute! I picked up a penguin and a koala. I saw Squishmallows as headphones. They looked cool, but it made me wonder how on Earth you clean them when they get dirty. If you like candy, there's a sugar rush section. Highly deadly. I loved seeing pizza candy and M&M's. There is a lot to look at in this store. You can get graphic t-shirts for $5 each. The Play-Doh Fun Factory reminded me of the Play-Doh Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop that I had as a kid. You basically create hair or fur for your characters with the Play-Doh, and you can style it. It brought back fond memories. And, no, I did not get the Fun Factory! I saw Ice Cubes gum and got a container of raspberry sorbet. I love this gum so much. I would have rated this place higher until I went to pay for my items. There were two females staring at their phones and chatting. One of them eventually helped cash me out. I had placed my mittens and phone on the lower right corner of a rather large counter. She placed my two Squishmallows and gum in a bag. She pushed the bag all the way forward such that my phone dropped onto the floor. I was not impressed. I made it clear to her that she had pushed my phone onto the floor. Had I had not explicitly let her know, she wouldn't have known. First, the counter had a lot of space. Why push the bag like that? Leave it in the middle of the counter or something. Second, I am not an American with a phone from a US carrier. Had my phone died from this fall, I'd have to get a new one. Expensive and complicated. Thankfully, my phone still worked. Her ridiculous action would have been the equivalent of my pushing the payment kiosk towards her and having it land on the floor. It was such a weird, unexpected action on her part. I'd return again because the merchandise is cool. If you put stuff on the counter, don't. You are at risk of having a careless staff member push your belongings onto the floor for no sound reason other than carelessness and stupidity. (14)

I sometimes come to this Walmart for money services. People have strong opinions about Walmart, and…read morealthough I don't really mind the world's largest company (by annual revenue) being severely scrutinized, I've always appreciated that it represents a steady employment opportunity for a diverse range of disadvantaged Americans. I imagine greeters and cart-wranglers at your local Walmart might have a very different perspective on their employer's aggressive business practices than your hipster friend who makes annual pilgrimages to the Apple store to line up for the latest iPhone. So I don't feel guilty shopping at Walmart, and when I'm in this store doing transactions at the money services counter, I'm glad I can also shop for some less expensive alternatives to things I'd otherwise get at Costco or Target. But the main reason I'm there is for the money services, and I have come to notice a lot of professionalism from the crew that works that counter. They have a complicated set of duties and they get through them with diligence and intelligence. I've witnessed them dealing with a broad array of difficult situations and I'm impressed by the wisdom and maturity with which they represent their end of this world. But the parking lot terrifies me.
