This review is soley for the Burek. I would recommend calling in advance to make sure they have some left. They are filled with either cheese or ground meat. You can also choose between a fluffy u shaped pastry and a flat pizza shaped pastry. They are equally good, it really just comes down to preference. They are served at room temperature. I tried heating them up in the microwave when I got them to go once, but I prefer them at room temperature. There is a park a few blocks away, between Yemen and Evaline St, where you can enjoy your Burek if the weather is nice.

I had no idea what a burek was... but then I had one... and now my whole world has changed. It is a fried layered dough concoction with meat or cheese filling. It is HELLA tasty. And probably super bad for you. Which is why it must taste so good. The doughnies are OK. Nothing special other than they have paczki. Lemon paczki, blueberry, raspberry... but not a whole lot of variety. What I loved about this place was the loud Polish men kvetching loudly in Polish. It just brought a smile to my face. This is probably their last refuge from their Polish wives. **CASH ONLY**

In a time when specialty donuts can easily cost a small fortune, Dutch Girl offers incredible value without sacrificing quality. You truly get your money's worth. Now, the donuts... absolutely delicious. Fresh, soft, and perfectly made, each bite tasted like it came straight out of the kitchen. They're the kind of donuts that don't need fancy toppings or over-the-top gimmicks because the quality speaks for itself. Whether you're grabbing a quick breakfast, satisfying a sweet tooth, or bringing a dozen to share, you really can't go wrong. It's easy to see why this Detroit staple has earned such a loyal following over the years. Great service, fair prices, and consistently delicious donuts are a winning combination. I'll definitely make this a mandatory stop every time I'm back in Detroit.

Dutch Girl Donuts is more than just a donut shop -- it's a straight-up Detroit institution. If…read moreyou're from here, you already know. That bright sign on Woodward isn't just a place to grab a dozen; it's part of the city's DNA. Growing up, my grandmother went there all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL the time. Weekends, random afternoons, "just because" mornings -- Dutch Girl was the move. Some of my favorite childhood memories are walking in and being hit with that sweet, warm smell of fresh donuts and seeing the cases stacked with every kind you could imagine. It felt like magic as a kid. The donuts themselves? Classic, no-frills, done-right Detroit goodness. Soft, fresh, and generously glazed or filled -- the kind of donuts that don't try to be trendy or over-the-top. They don't need to. They've been holding it down for generations. That's the beauty of a true staple: consistency. You always knew exactly what you were getting, and it was always good. If I'm being honest, the only reason I'm not rushing there now is because I had SO many of their donuts growing up that I might have maxed out my lifetime quota . When you've had that much of something, you need a little break. But that doesn't take away from what they are to the city. Dutch Girl Donuts represents Detroit pride -- resilience, tradition, and community. It's one of those places that connects generations. My grandmother loved it, I grew up on it, and new families are still making memories there today. In a city that's all about loyalty and roots, Dutch Girl stands tall. Forever a Detroit classic.
