I landed in Detroit today to visit family for a few days who moved to Ferndale last year and they had picked up half a dozen blueberry-maple fritters in anticipation of my visit. They talked them up so much, and the label boasted "best" that I could not wait to bite into one. (I eat very healthy at home but I know how to get down with some food when visiting folks!) I heard radio DJs promoting this location as I ran errands today. So, I had to take a detour over to Ferndale to celebrate the day! I was so glad to get an assortment of donuts (glazed, old fashion lemon) and of course, an apple fritter. The sales clerk greeted me right away and even gifted me her favorite donut for it being my first visit. I'm thankful! This donut shop is found in a strip mall on 9 Mile Rd. Inside they have soda shop counter stools plus table & chairs if you want to dine in. They are open Tuesday through Sunday. I bet they will get voted the 'best of' again in 2025! read more

Best donuts and fritters in the area. Love to treat the guys at work with these when I'm feeling generous or celebrating something. Nothing vegan except drinks (lol)... but I have cheated a couple times to try, the donuts and fritters (before dawn when I pick up) are fresh, warm, just the right amount of crisp, and usually decorated for the holiday. The guys really like them, always a hit. Cheaper if you pay in cash! Staff is friendly, super efficient, and usually dressed festive for any occasion just like the treats they offer! Ordered the blueberry and raspberry fritter that were both very good.The two specialty donuts, oreo creme filled and a chocolate filled one were both delicious with great tasting toppings and filling. Samoa chocolate donut was also good. All the donuts were soft with a good texture to them. I visit this shop twice a year, near Mother's Day and my mom's birthday. She loves cherry fritters. We have tried dozens. Every place that has a cherry fritter, we've been. Hands down, no contest, Apple Fritter Donut Shop is the BEST! I drive a bit to get there, so I call ahead. The last two times, the most wonderful lady answered the phone! Her name is Johnnie. She is so happy, she always gets my fritters boxed up & waiting for me! She was having a great hair day and had this cute head band on with these shimmer pompons. We stopped in to try this place off their name alone. We have been on the hunt for good fritters for weeks. All the donut shops serve "apple filled donuts" not true fritters. I stopped by the Apple Fritter Donut Shop because of the reviews on Yelp. I do have a favorite doughnut shop, but I now live way on the other side of town and their hours are very short, especially since they close when they run out. So, I decided to come here just to check it out; I didn't really "need" the doughnuts. Well, I was VERY impressed. Lots of different varieties, so it was hard to choose. I ended up with a Long John and, because of the shop's name, I felt obligated to get an apple fritter. Both were delicious. Found this donut shop tagging along with another parent during our daughter's hockey trip. Ran over before a game and grabbed a couple of things and let me tell you this place did not disappoint! Where we live there are not really any traditional donut shops, you almost get used to Dunkies if you you're craving a donut. This is the type of place I miss. Amazing selection of fresh donuts, I went with their maple glazed apple fritter and a maple sour cream. Literally out of this world. Grabbed a donut for my wife and she was raving about how amazing it was. Everyone working the counters were friendly and helpful. The donuts barely have any topping or flavor and the dough recipe just isn't the best. You can tell the donut filling is out of a can. Fritters over done. Had to come here because Holy Moly was closed, so I wasn't expecting much. It was a pleasant surprise when I walked in. All the employees were wearing masks, as well as the other 2 patrons who came in while I was there. I was a little overwhelmed by all their flavors. They'll have several flavors of one donut, ie choco, choc/choc, choco/maple, etc. Their crullers were very good, I got the one with chocolate on it.
