This group has been super helpful and flexible. Dr. David Clarke is patient and quite good at explaining the steps of the examination.

They are located in a beautiful building on the banks of the Sacramento River adjacent to Cypress Ave in Redding. The facility is large, clean, modern, and well laid out. On the bottom floor are the physicians, Ophthalmologists, Dr Michael Sumsion and Doctor Sean Sumsion. Not only are both of these guys great physicians, their bedside manner and interaction with patients and family is fantastic. Very down to earth, patient, and happy to explain things. I have seen both of these docs, and I would put them as some of the best. For reference I see physicians at both UCSF and Stanford and this practice is at that caliber of professionalism and competence. Upstairs is the Optometrist, Dr. Jordan Evans. He is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is so kind and patient. I was trying to switch from just eyeglasses to Contact Lenses and my experience with him and his awesome staff was phenomenal. They were not in a hurry to move me through, they took the time to educate me, ensure that everything fit right, on multiple appointments. The bedside manner, caring, and interaction are all outstanding in my humble opinion. I am definitely a fan!

After more than four years as a client, I have unfortunately decided to take my business elsewhere…read more Over the years, I have noticed the customer service at the front desk decline significantly. After reading other reviews, it appears I am not the only patient who has experienced what I would describe as rude and unprofessional interactions. I have been seeing Dr. Thacker since 2021, and I want to acknowledge that he has always been thorough, respectful, and professional during my appointments. I sincerely hope he has the opportunity to read and consider this feedback. My primary concern is with the handling of my eyeglass frames. On two separate occasions, the lab has damaged my frames while replacing lenses. The first incident occurred several years ago, and the office took responsibility and covered the damage. Unfortunately, it happened again. Most recently, I had an appointment on May 20 and left my frames to have new prescription lenses installed. I later received a call from the front desk informing me that my frames had been broken and that the office would not cover the damage because they were my own frames. While I understand there may be policies regarding customer-owned frames, the damage occurred due to an error on the office's side, not mine. Furthermore, I was never informed at the time of drop-off that I would be responsible if the frames were damaged. Had this been clearly communicated, I could have made a more informed decision and prepared accordingly. To try to resolve the matter, I called the office again on June 8 at approximately 9:55 a.m. and asked to speak with Dr. Thacker. I was told, in what I felt was a dismissive and rude manner, that I could not speak with him directly. I then requested that he return my call when available. During that conversation, I was told that I had already signed paperwork and that the policy had been explained to me when I dropped off my frames. However, I do not recall being informed that the office would not take responsibility if my frames were damaged due to handling during the lens replacement process. This experience, combined with the ongoing customer service issues, has left me disappointed and unable to continue as a patient. As a result, I will be taking my business elsewhere, along with my family members' business. I also intend to share my experience through reviews so that other patients can make informed decisions based on the level of service they may receive.

First visit Dr. Reeve tested my eyes for glasses 20 minutes after dilation and never checked the vision with both eyes. Of course glasses were wrong. 2nd eye exam Dr Carter says i' M the one who usually does eye exams. Get the glasses and they don't work. I call office as nd get a rude clerk who says you already had a glass check. After much explanation she makes me wait two weeks for a reexamination. Third exam different from the other two. Doctor does give me my money back but sends me out the door! No discussion of possible reason - do I have a serious medical condition or are they just incompetent. I would give a -10 for this place if I could

The assistant I saw asked me what my issues were, when I explained them she argued with me about the definition of what a "halo effect around objects" was, by the end of the argument, it turns out I had a "halo effect around objects." Doctor comes in, does a quick exam and says everything looks great. I tell him everything is not great, I have a halo effect around objects so he asks me what I would like him to do. Why in the world am I paying for his medical expertise if I am telling HIM how to treat ME? After that fiasco, I call them because I did not get a copy of my prescription. I live 30 minutes away so I want them to email, fax, upload the prescription onto my vision coverage website.... they can't do any of that. The "prescription department" (which is a 12x15 room next to the receptionist) does not have access to email, the internet, a fax machine.... so they can mail it or I can come down and pick up a printout. I am surprised they have printing technology!!! Worst Optometrist ever.... I cannot believe people go to them for surgery, I would hate to see what they use for lasik surgery!!! I will never go back.

Either people are not informed, or are not responsible for themselves. People also need to understand the reality of working in Medical Care. The number of "no show" appointments, failure to see their primary providers, not having stuff done which should have been done prior to coming in for an appointment, showing up late, etc. I have been to Dr. Del Pero's office several times either for myself or family members. I have used his services for surgery four times, and non-surgical eye trauma with referral to a retinal specialist once, and 3 times for corneal injuries. I have never seen, experienced, or have heard any negativity of him or his staff. As he is an ophthalmologist, a surgeon, he deals with serious eye issues. He is not an optometrist. People need to be aware what their insurance coverages they have before they see a doctor. This is really not his job, but they will give approximate estimates. It is ironic people go in and expect everything to be "Covered". It is a also sad to think everything is an emergency. If an eye issue is something that comes on slowly, its more of an age related issue, such as Cataracts. Glaucoma, Retinopathy, etc. In most cases not an emergency. This being said, you may not get in immediately. I got hit in the eye with a foreign object. I lost part of my vision, I wanted to keep my vision, and I would not have picked any other surgeon then Dr. Del Pero. He saved my eye! People need to realize the caliber of what type of a physician he is. He is one of the highest rated eye surgeons in America. He was a pioneer and insturmental in LASIK surgery and more. He is not going to small talk with you, he is going to tell you what you need to know, what the problem is, and what needs to be done. My first visits with him were for my father in the 1990's. Age related cataracts. I researched, I called the insurance companies, I did my research. You just don't go in to get a cataract taken care of. You need to see your primary, get a referral, get an appointment, get an exam, get a diagnosis, get labs, EKG, pre operative prescriptions, get scheduled, pick up post operative prescriptions, follow your pre op orders, go to surgery, do your post op care, do a follow up, and then follow up again. As busy as he is, I have always been able to get an appointment based on the acuity of the issue. I hope anyone reading this understands the reality of medical care and perhaps some of the banter on this review from other people can be "Sour grapes". Thank you Dr. Del Pero and staff. My family and I appreciate you!
