Because she was very ill from catching the virus at your facility in Sugar Hill, Mom was so weak that she couldn't go to the bathroom herself, and had already fallen. So I was staying on a cot in her room. I needed to go out to check on my dog and get clean clothes and food. I asked Jenna if she could please have someone watch mom for half an hour. She agreed. I received a call after about 15 minutes that mom had fallen again. I rushed to Benton house to find mom with a huge blood filled bump on her head. She was dazed and possibly concussed. Jenna swore up and down that someone was checking on mom. Then she backpedaled, simpering about company policy that wouldn't allow an employee to watch mom even for a very short period of time. They can only help after mom fell, and she pressed the pendant. Of course, Jenna conveniently left out the fact that if you are knocked unconscious or the aides take an hour or more to respond because half were sick with covid ( since there is no vaccine requirement), I guess it is too bad for the resident. I found out later that Jenna lied about having someone keep an eye on Mom because it was a resident that called for help when she saw mom lying in the doorway to her room. No one was even told mom needed watching. So you can ditch the platitudes. Admit that the only important value of Benton House is the bottom line. Residents are insignificant. Management are soulless monsters that can't even be bothered getting vaccinated or draw up a working plan to stop the spread of a deadly virus. I chose Benton House believing that Mom would be safe at the times I couldn't be with her. I was so wrong. My wonderful Mother died today. I am seriously considering contacting the senior ombudsman or a lawyer so no other daughter will have to go through this nightmare caused by your people's failures. Sincerely, Susan Hilla

The building is very clean, attractive and well kept. She originally lived in a cute 1 bedroom apartment with her own furniture and art. A year ago, after suffering a stroke, she moved to the Memory Care where she lived until her death. The care providers are really what makes this place exceptional. I felt like everyone there really cared for my mom. Whenever I visited, the staff would catch me up in detail on how she'd been. Her personal care was always excellent even after she became non-verbal. The administration is always available and easy to work with. The nursing staff is top notch as well. I recommend Benton House of Sugar Hill without reservation.

It was a huge decision for me and not inexpensive. Of course, I knew that I would need to adjust and it took about a week to feel comfortable. I was so impressed by the kindness and devotion from the staff. They worked long shifts but always made us their priority. Mr. Chase, Mr. Jordan, Miss Mary and too many to name were so friendly and respectful not only to me but to all of the patients. Dr. Fiegel was my Psychiatrist and he was beyond brilliant in nailing down my diagnosis and prescribing the proper meds so that I could sleep for the first time in years. I slept a solid 8 hours on the very first night with my new medications. The Internists Dr. Pham and Dr. Patel also made sure that we stayed healthy. The Social Workers and the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner went above and beyond to make sure that we had the therapies and meds to make us feel better. I was especially fond of the group therapy and learned many tools and skills to excel in my personal life. A big shout out to the Social Workers and to Mr. Michael who brought a wealth of experience to our groups. His ability to communicate with us and show compassion was so welcome and appreciated. It was the BEST decision of my life and I am so glad that I admitted myself for 30 days. I had been struggling with anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD and knew that I needed this level of professional care. I cannot say enough about the staff and Director, Mr. Magner. Everyone was kind, professional, focused and skilled in their mission to change our lives for the better. The food was adequate and filling but there were a few blips. The Chef went out of his way to make sure that the meals were served properly and it is my understanding that the food has to be catered from a vendor until they get a license to operate the kitchen. No big deal. We never went hungry and there were lots of high quality snacks, fresh fruit, juices and water whenever we wanted it. The patients were incredible and came from all walks of life. We supported one another and I was touched by their friendships and stories. It was extremely difficult to leave when the time came. All of us were equals and had the same goals. I was especially fond of the emotional support dogs that some patients brought with them. We loved taking turns walking and playing with them. One in particular was Theo, a Labradoodle who loved everyone and even stayed in some of our rooms. It made our stay incredibly meaningful. Feeding him crunchy, sliced apples was the highlight of my stay. Sylvia Brafman changed my life forever. Was it perfect? No place is perfect. The Georgia facility is new and has some growing pains but they are doing everything they can to make it a place of healing and transformation. Thank you for making my life better and my future journey a lot easier. I will be forever grateful.

Unfortunately, that couldn't be further from the truth. The food is absolutely terrible. I wouldn't serve some of it to anyone. The kitchen seems to go through cooks constantly, and the meals look and taste like something thrown together with no care at all. I've posted pictures so you can see for yourself -- what they are calling "lasagna" on the menu. It looks like it is missing marinara sauce and was filled with something that could pass for cat pate. You can't even tell that it is what it is. Also, do you serve corn and broccoli with lasagna? My mom sends me photos of her meals all the time, and it's heartbreaking. I've resorted to taking her grocery shopping so she can have something decent to eat. I genuinely feel sorry for the residents who don't have family nearby to help them. It's a shame because the facility itself is clean and the staff are kind and caring. But the food situation is unacceptable -- and it's been this way for years now. If management doesn't fix the kitchen problem, it overshadows everything else that is good about the place.

Suddenly we had many decisions to make that we were not prepared to make. We were directed to The Phoenix and James Creek. We had lived in the area for many years but were unaware of this facility. Victoria was so kind and gave us a tour of The Phoenix. We had never seen anything like this as it was like being at a lodge in Colorado. The building is beautifully decorated and has amenities I couldn't imagine from a library, to a Garden room, to a movie room, etc. We spent a few hours here and every staff member greeted us with kindness, knowledge, and friendliness. They knew all of the residents names and genuinely seemed joyful in their job. When he arrived after being transported from the hospital they immediately took care of him and gave him a bath. His first meal here he ate every bite and loved the food. We are grateful we found a place that would love on him when we can't. We also love the area as it is in a residential area where the local community supports and loves on the residents.

Instead, I showed up, was place in a room to watch a 45 minute video on my condition. I had been through orthopedic interventions already and also did my own homework on my condition, so most of the video I already knew. I was ready for pain relief and was deeply upset. After the video, I was given a book to help with my condition. I thought that was cool and went home. Literally, what little invention I had during this hour+ visit included an evaluation of my walking gait, a couple of pokes "does this hurt?" and a quick adjustment the included pulling on my legs. No tools used etc. Fast forward to today. To watch a long outdated video, be "given" a book and a couple pulls on the leg I was billed $226.00 (including $25 for the book that was "given" to me. No one said I would be billed for that.) I am not happy with my first experience. If anything I feel insulted. While I watched a video, she was just racking up the dollars. She may be an expert in her field, but billing practices need to be addressed. I was charged less for my actual injection from a medical doctor that DID relieve pain for a bit.
