The price was high compared to our previous moves but we chalked it up to inflation. We hired two movers to load a truck was going to be driven cross country. We had three of our own men bringing them the items from the house. One of the workers was high, they didn't follow our instructions about stuff that was not to be loaded on the truck. No care was put into protecting the items/furniture. We had plenty of pads and tie down straps that weren't used. Because of how the truck was loaded many things were broke by the time we got to our destination. read more

DONT PAY IN FULL IF YOU GOT DAMAGE. THEY WON'T SEND ANYONE FOR REPAIRS 1) One of the movers stole my Ray-Bans sunglasses sitting on the shelf during the move. (I noticed this immediately but did not want to slow our 10 hr move. It left me wondering what else they took) 2) Movers didn't cover half of the furniture in pads or stretch wrapper, regardless of me repeatedly asking. During the offloading, there was so much sweat all over my furniture, and sadly all over my fabric chairs... So disgusting!!! my patio chairs and new carpet were stained with the mover's sweaty DIRTY shirt (dirty from all the dusty stuff he collected because of not covering). Perhaps they wanted to cut corners? the move finished @8 pm and they had 2 other moves scheduled that day but one ended up canceling. 3) Movers CRUSHED my Restoration Harware Couch while lifting it with the platform of the truck and tried to lie about it to my husband and company owner because the didn't think I saw it!!! 4) Movers damaged a corner of our bed when they hit it with a desk. 5) When explained to the owner what had happened he said "Don't tip them, put your money towards the bill". 6) Insisted to be paid in full because they were going to send someone to fix our damages but weeks have passed and never heard from them again. I don't know where to start. If no stars was an option, that's what it would be. First, the truck they sent wasn't big enough. So I had to rent a van and move some things myself (I am handicapped). The guys used my cart (which was fine), but then just left it sitting outside of the apartment complex. Finally, they trashed my dining room table. I truly don't get how they can send the wrong size truck. It would have been even worse if we hadn't been taking carloads of things for over a week before the move. Seriously, use somebody else. Mario kept in touch with me frequently up to moving day. He quoted me a very reasonable price compared to other movers. He also recommended that I only needed 2 men instead of 3 based on the contents I told him I had. They showed up late but he notified me ahead of time that they were running late. Both guys were very nice. Efficient. Got the job done very quickly. No dawdling. During the move they even got a call to see if they needed another guy to come help. I have used MGM twice now to move, and they are just wonderful. This is a family-run operation and they pride themselves on courtesy and care. My movers had to work around some tricky issues - a narrow staircase and tall bookcases - and managed to get everything done efficiently and well, and without a scratch on any of my things. I recently used this company to relocate from the Westbank to New Orleans East. I hired a three man moving crew. The men arrived over twenty minutes late, and without tools. During the move they broke a light fixture because they were not paying attention to the height of the headboard they were moving. However the most upsetting part of my move came when they attempted to push my leather sofa up concrete stairs without any protective covering. When I brought this to the attention of the supervisor he stated that his movers were negligent in the handling of my furniture and admitted my furniture should have been wrapped before the move but tried to place some of the responsibility on me stating I had never specifically stated my couch was leather or he would have told his movers to bring plastic. To add insult to injury he's refusing to fix my furniture. When I inquired about someone else to speak to regarding my concerns he told me he was the highest person in the organization I would be able to speak to for any reason. I have gone to the website hoping to find contact information for the owner but the numbers listed on the website are numbers that lead me directly back to him. I have used professional movers before and the experience was wonderful. However this was the absolute worst experience I have had and I would not recommend MGM Movers to anyone. read more

My parents used MGM for their last move and recommend them. Mario was very helpful in fitting my last minute move into the schedule. His guys came early and moved swiftly. In under four hours all large furniture from a living room, dining room, bedroom and nursery were packed up and moved in to the new place about 10-12 miles away with bed reassembled. read more

They moved my 1 bedroom apartment. They don't use big carts (or whatever they're called) to carry stuff just small square carts that have the size of two skateboards! So it takes more trips to the apartment=longer time to move=more cost for you. If you hire 3 man, 2 will carry, 1 will be arranging inside the truck. The new place is 10 min away (but 2nd floor) and all the moving took 3 hours. Because they used those tiny carts to carry everything to the 2nd floor and walk in the building. I was charged 480 dollars. Not very student friendly. I've seen more professional and faster movers. They're a family business and nice people but they need to improve their services (i.e. Buy bigger carts). read more

These movers were slow and ineffective. What kind of mover doesn't bring a dally and carries boxes by hand? They made up all sorts of charges that were completely ludicrous and never made this information available or public until AFTER they had possession of my furniture. They were slow working on an hourly rate, and then later demanded compensation for the time it took to get to my home and back to their storage unit. While they had been aware for over two weeks of my address, they were calling for directions the morning of my move, only to add to their imaginary charges. Do not hire these people. It is a scam and you would be better off finding three paraplegic lawyers to do a more honest and effective job. read more

We recently moved our daughter from New Orleans to Mississippi and MGM movers were amazing, reliable , punctual , and easy to coordinate . She only had to move things from her bedroom and some boxes and they carefully packed it all up for us and headed straight to MS and they were done within a couple of hours . One of the movers was Noah and I didn't catch the other ones name but were both very polite and professional. I would recommend MGM movers for your future move . read more

I recently moved from a second floor two bedroom apartment into a third floor one bedroom apartment in another area a few yards away. The movers were on time and very efficient. Made sure that all my furniture and boxes were loaded being careful not to scratch anything. Nothing was broken. The movers were able to move my loaded chest of drawers without me having to remove the drawers. They also assembled my bed to my liking. You have to reserve your move via phone call and they requested a check deposit to hold the reservation. A bit pricey in comparison to other services but a great job overall. read more

I recently moved from NYC to NOLA, and I needed movers to offload my belongings from a 10' box truck to a room in a storage facility. These movers had left flyers at the storage facility, and since I didn't have any other referrals I called them (personally I prefer to use a known business with insurance instead of hiring random & unknown people from craiglist). MGM has a 1 hour minimum charge + 1 hour minimum travel time charge. In the end I was really pleased with the work. I wanted my boxes sorted (books, kitchen, etc.) before they were moved into the storage room, and the two man crew did a great job sorting. I gave some basic instructions on how to arrange my belongings in the storage room, and again they followed those directions really well. I also had a piece of furniture that was fragile, and if dropped or otherwise not taken good care of, it would have gotten broken and been unusable (it has a big glass component that can't be removed). They handled it with care. The two men crew were father & son, Mario & Mario. I will use them again in the future! They were able to offload my truck which was about 2/3 filled in less than one hour. I would have given them a 5-star review if they had arrived within the estimated time, but they were fifteen minutes late. Their hourly price is high, but in the end I feel I paid for quality work done by a trustworthy crew. read more

Awful... Do not use.. They will not move any glass items.. stated they can't after the owner Mario sells you on they are insured. They are Lazy and drag out their time to get more $ charged almost a extra full hour (they took a 25 lunch break and left 20 mins early but still charged) $1,100 for 4 guys to move a 2 BR Condo 2 Blocks away with 90% of items boxed and marked for them.. We like MGM so much that we are repeat customers! We used them in August 2012 when my daughter moved to New Orleans and needed to have her furniture, which arrived in two large U-haul boxes, shifted to her second floor apartment. In August 2013, MGM came on short notice with a large moving van, which they packed swiftly and efficiently, to move her across town. They came exactly on time and kept the time expended to a minimum, since they charge by the hour. We felt that the price was very fair for the services rendered. We highly recommend them. read more

MGM Movers are the best moving company I've used yet in New Orleans, and I've used three different ones. They were on time, professional, worked well together as a team, reasonably priced, and they listened carefully when I gave instructions about how to move more fragile items. My move was a smaller move (between two storage units) but they were happy to do it and worked at a good pace (not too fast as to break things but not too slow as to increase their hours).
