I was referred to Dixie Vets and called and they told us to come right away. When we arrived the inside was clean and smelled wonderful. They offered us water and coffee multiple times also which was very nice. All of this is extra and nothing they have to do, but still do it. That tells me a lot about them. The receptionist was excellent and you could feel that she cared. She actually got up and walked to our room. I have never had a receptionist do that. The veterinarian technician came in shortly after and she was also amazing. Once again you could feel that she cared about our cat. I actually thought she was the veterinarian. She was really nice and comforting. The veterinarian came in after and (I know I keep repeating myself, but this is a good thing) She was amazing. She was very gentle and compassionate with our cat. She was upfront with the cost and gave us a couple choices. I can normally read people very well and it is easy to see if someone is genuine or not. They were all truly genuine. It is doctors like her and people like the receptionist and vet tech that can help or hurt the reviews and if you are coming back or not. The old vet is about 8 minutes away and Dixie is about 30 minutes away. We will be coming back to Dixie without a second thought. I recommend anyone looking for help to go to Dixie Veterinary Hospital.

I offered to take her out so Dr. Kemp could examine her but that woman (dr.) declined and clearly had no interest in continuing the visit as if I am not welcomed. She seemed eager to end this session ASAP. Prior to taking my cat in I discussed my concerns over the phone with the vet tech and also mentioned I am looking to get flea treatment as a preventative measure they seemed excited about it thinking I will buy from them, but as soon as I mentioned to Dr. Kemp that I want a written prescription so I can get it from chewy as I have a coupon, her tone shifted. Finally after 2 minutes of talk, she said she will get me the prescription for gabapentin and revolution and disappeared for 25 minutes, just so she could drag out the visit and collect her fee for no service provided. I could hear her chit chatting with the staff. Then finally the vet tech came with gabapentin med, and told the front desk that the woman (dr.) would not prescribe Revolution because my cat had not been weighed, even though I had already offered to take her out for an exam and they had every chance to weigh her. They wanted me to come in again for follow up appointment while still charging me for no service. Total time with the doctor was 2 minutes. I am a seasoned cat rescuer and a foster parent with a fair share of problematic cats and vets. This is the worst form of greed and incompetency I have ever experienced. Edit: the cat carrier had 3 zipped sides that completely opens, if they really wanted to get her out they could have done so but they did not choose to.

I made an appointment for my dog because she had split one of her toe nails. This happened right…read morebefore Labor Day. I tried my current vet and they were booked so they recommended that I go to 4 PAWS Urgent care. Ok so I call them - in order to make an appointment they charged me $50 - I was a little put off by this but they assured me that this amount would be taken off my bill - ok I can go with that. So I go to the appointment - first an assistant (not sure of her actual job title, so I will just refer to her as this), comes in takes the info and then the Doctor comes in looks at my dog and says they are going to put her in a twilight type state - I say ok but how much is this going to cost?? She says the assistant would go over this with me. Ok. She comes back in and she says it's going to be $503.00 - I say why so much??? She starts going thru the charges and she had several blood tests on there - I ask why?? She says well your dog is older so she needs this - I told her no - she has a regular vet, so there is no reason for that. She really tried to push these tests - and I kept saying no - ok, she says I will take them off - which brought the bill down to $303.00 - still really high but I know urgent care is a bit pricey so I say ok - they preform the 'surgery' then the assistant comes back in and says oh I forgot to add the bandage on - so your new total is $375.00 - I said a bandaid cost $70?? She says no - I say, well the total before the surgery was $303 now it's $375?? She looks thru the bill and finds an error and it brings the total back down to $326.00. Then they tell me that the bandaid needs to be changed in 2 days - I ask is that included in the price - and I received a NO! Every other vet/urgent care I have been to, the follow up care was included in the initial price... smh Ok I go to front desk and pay - as soon as my payment goes thru that same assistant comes running from the back and says don't pay yet! I said I already did - she says I found another error on your bill - we charged you twice for a medicine used during surgery. I say ok how am I getting that back - oh we will credit your card. I wait there till they do this and then leave. Two days later I am going thru my checking account and I see that initial $50 charge (which I forgot about), I look at the bill and they didn't deduct that off of it. So I call the office, tell her why I am calling she looks at my account and says oh yeah you're right, I will credit it back to your card. I wait two days, look at my checking account no credit back. I had to call again - she says oh yeah i will do it again. She puts me on hold for a minute then comes back - she says I have to put it thru with (2) credits - one will be for $23.77 and one will be for $26.23. WTH!! Oh and I also asked about the actual price for just a office visit - if you have an appointment the cost is $97 but if you walk in with an emergency the appointment goes to around $140.00. Wow!! Anyway, if I had all these problems with them I can't be the only one - so if you go there - double check EVERYTHING!!!

Labeling yourself an "animal hospital" -- Not a "Veterinary Clinic" permits you with a responsibility. You simply do not turn away a gravely injured animal, struggling to breathe, convulsing, and refuse to even look to stabilize. If you are open, you stabilize. Yet in my specific situation, my gasping for air 6 year old German Shepherd was turned away. The reason? "Well we close in 7 minutes because its Saturday" As my baby girl, YOUR repeated patient for MULTIPLE years, lays in my passenger seat gasping for air, your staff decided that was the appropriate action and response. As I am already AT your facility. No, directing me to a 24/7 veterinary clinic 16 MILES away is not sufficient. It is reckless. It is dangerous, and you all should be ashamed of yourselves. I will make it my mission to have this message and incident spread to as many of your consumers as possible. They deserve to know how their family members are being treated. A hospital would not turn an in-need child away, Your community should know that you are willing to turn an in-need dog away, to protect your Saturday evenings. Sure, one can say that VCA White Lake Animal Hospital didn't have the staffing capabilities- They don't know. They didn't even bother to consider helping.

When I tried mentioning it to the nurse that did intake she immediately brushed it off and mentioned the doctor will be in shortly. We get to the end of a very very basic exam, checking teeth, heart, weight, eyes tells she she's in good health and we go upfront to pay. They hit me with a $50 fee for the exam which I clarified about the deal and they just didn't care. I pulled up their OWN website and read them the deal and they still didn't care. I told the girls at the front desk that I felt this was a bait and switch and extremely dishonest, and they smiled at me and said "restrictions apply" and that "we know it's confusing we've asked corporate to change that" so that tells me I'm not the first person this has happened to. Cool, if you're business wants to do bait and switches and be dishonest to new clients then I won't ever be doing business with you again, and I'll personally do my part to get the word out that you're robbing people point blank. That's not how you give good service, that's not how you treat customers, shame on all of you

Dr. Gill comes back and recommends a set of X-rays, and a full blood workup ($$). I agree, but ask the vet tech to run the x-ray first to rule out the obvious and hen run the blood. She says sure, no problem. Then comes back 10 minutes later and tells me it'll be 30 minutes before the blood tests are done. I confirm, yes they drew and the Dr "thought it best to run both". OK, first strike. So I go sit in my car waiting the allotted time with my sick puppy. I get a call about 25 minutes later, asking if I plan to come back in for the results. I said, I'm in the parking lot. Kind of rude, so second strike. Then the Dr goes over his results, and tells me that next options are a barium test $$, Ultrasound $$$, or exploratory surgery $$$$. Before I decide, I ask her why she ordered the blood work before we had a chance to review the X-rays. She then lies to my face, and tells me she "came out to talk to me, but I was gone." Third and final strike. No way they're touching my puppy! So I pay, and ask for a copy of my records and mention my disappointment to the woman at the counter. I simply state I'll pay, but I need a copy of my records for the next vet in case of an emergency and I won't be coming back because of what just happened. Another tech comes up and asks what's wrong; she tells her "oh, he's mad we ran the blood without asking him"! I offer, no, I'm just disappointed. She doubles down, oh he's just mad". How rude, I wasn't mad - but I sure am now. Please, do yourself and your fur baby a solid. Go anywhere but here. They don't care about pets, they care about money. And lack even simple, common, human decency. And to top it off, maybe they could spend a little more time cleaning the rooms between patients.
